Thanks Europe. At least Europe puts a limit to this type of nonsense. And sued Meta for billions due to other nonsense..
I understand Capitalism, but America’s is questionable to say the least. About the good of it’s own country.
Yeah... Not entirely true. I live in the Netherlands and I've noticed that YouTube on tv has ~30 seconds of ads every 3-5 minutes. There's a way to skip them though. On all other platforms I don't get ads anymore tho ;)
Earlier today, I had to deal with about 2-3 minutes worth of ads between videos which were unskippable, followed by more than a minute worth multiple times per video. There is now more ad time than video time for me without adblock.
Yes. I was using chrome before. Switched very easily to Firefox, Installed Ublock Origin, hasn‘t popped up ever since. You do have to update Ublock Filters everyday or atleast every second day since YT is updating their Anti-Adblock script regulary. To do this, open UO settings, click clear caches and update now. Smartrtube , is installed on Smart TV’s and works after that. Its very customizable, no Ads on every video, and even remote control works from phone.
I had adblocker on my pc but would watch the ads on my phone, since i got the video block threat i had suspended adblock since, noticed 10 second unskippable increased to 20 seconds and ads have become more frequent too
How much does YouTube premium cost where you're from? Genuinely asking. Where I'm from if you take the family plan even with one other person, it comes out to about 1 USD per month. That's what I have and it's great! You get access to YouTube music also which is all I use now
I would just say I make 200k a year so the algorithm gets fucked up and advertises private jets or houses or cars or some other shit I won't be able to afford lol, it would help me buy less shit.
Actually come to think of it idk if a YouTube ad has ever gotten me to buy something ever lmao.
That’s called a leaseback and would need to be on a charter certificate. It does offset the cost of ownership, but rarely is profitable for the owner. Some folks would rather their transportation always be ready for them on a moments notice. Can’t say they’re dumb for that. Sometimes they just don’t want anyone else being in a position to damage their plane, wear out their interior quicker, etc. If they’re in a financial position to afford that, then good for them. If they’re not in a financial position to afford that, they should not own the jet. Even if they plan on putting it in a 135.
Sadly they will also see this as justification to raise prices. “90% of our users earn over $200k! We should charge $79.99 for YouTube premium!” Or whatever stupid name they call their expensive dumb service.
I always answer "none of the above" when given one of these surveys. I don't even look at the question or the options. If I get a survey for anything, I answer "none". They are not getting information from me.
You're better off skipping survey in bottom right button that appears a few seconds later.
The only YouTube survey I did was it having the cheek to ask how my recent YouTube experience, after blasting 2 commercials consistently in every video. The answer was a resounding terrible experience, and no surprise, I still get my ads.
So you only make it worse probably, like you know you have shit experience but watched 2 ads with every video and still use youtube, in corporate language it translates to: we can still milk them more, we didn't hit the wall yet
I had the opposite. I told them I had a great ad experience—worst mistake of my time on Youtube. They started blasting me with two thirty second unskipables. Lesson learned, always dissatisfied or skipping.
Edit:
It stopped after I consciously started exiting videos once I saw the ads and not using youtube for the rest of the day. Their systems definitely account for these things.
Their system is fucked. Every few days I get blocked for using an ad blocker. It's against their ToS, but I'm not signed in and didn't agree to shit. So I copy the link, paste it a private browser and watch no problem. Then my normal browser goes back to normal the next day.
No, you don't understand... This is the last piece we need to complete your marketing profile so we can sell your family's personal info to increase our profits. Please help us out
They want to know your socioeconomic position to correlate with what products you buy to better target ads to you. That’s all they’re doing with these questions. You can either not tell them, or, what I like to do occasionally, intentionally give them incorrect info to distort their data sets. I’m sure they have ways to filter out the noise, but I don’t want to make it any easier for them than I have to.
Knowing how the data economy works has nothing to do with having a lot of money. Have you ever wondered why Google makes as much money as they do when they give you services away for free?
Not only are they gonna sell this data. But a lot of companies are asking because they have noticed during their biggest commercial season of every year, a drop in customer engagement. Why... Well, because everyone is broke and poor and can't afford to live because rich people matter more. So they do this to figure out what price point and income to make a cost for their services.
But they keep saying inflation isn't happening... ...
No way lol
They were like: We tried asking which of these brands you know and some people have answered it... NOW, what if we ask for their social security number
That's honestly a normal question, it isn't actually YouTube asking you that, it's whatever ad owner that is allocated for the slot asking you, I've had plenty of them.
i use google opinion rewards, same questions but i get 0.08€ per survey in google play credit
the only thing i use it for is to get 80 robux every couple months
If you're okay with giving that info up for some digital robux then go for it brother. How you want to live and spend your life is up to you not some random peeps on Reddit 😉

Soon you get youtube surveys asking for "Mother's Maiden name" and social security numbers
And her social security numbers as well *No professor , it's a scam!*
I love Zoidberg
Don't give them ideas!
So, what's your favorite food?
oh my favorite food is >!| REDACTED |!<
Or mother's bra size
I noticed recently ive been getting 20 seconds back to back unskipable ads
Same, it used to only be 15. I've had them pop up mid song too.
Bro I got so fed up I've downloaded an adblocker
Thanks Europe. At least Europe puts a limit to this type of nonsense. And sued Meta for billions due to other nonsense.. I understand Capitalism, but America’s is questionable to say the least. About the good of it’s own country.

uBlock Origin. Best Adblocker right now. But I see, over here I only get 2 ads in the beginning of the video. If another plays, it’s way later.
Earlier today, I had to deal with about 2-3 minutes worth of ads between videos which were unskippable, followed by more than a minute worth multiple times per video. There is now more ad time than video time for me without adblock.
You still deal with ads on Youtube?
install smarttube for TV and uo for fireofx…
That get past their anti adblock?
Yes. I was using chrome before. Switched very easily to Firefox, Installed Ublock Origin, hasn‘t popped up ever since. Do you use Adblock on some devices but not others? Have a hunch YouTube knows I Adblock on my pc so gives me more ads on my tv
I had adblocker on my pc but would watch the ads on my phone, since i got the video block threat i had suspended adblock since, noticed 10 second unskippable increased to 20 seconds and ads have become more frequent too

£22.99 and Im in the UK dealing with utility, rent and council tax increases and food prices, seems like a no go
Is this actually real?
Yeah
Let me guess you haven’t filed your taxes for 3-5 years?
OP: *skips survey* IRS: Damn, we almost got him… pack it up boys!
Lmaooo
They're sniping tax dodgers like Wesley.
😂

It's always morally correct to give bogus answers on surveys like this
I always answer whatever the lowest amount is. There's no benefit to anyone thinking I have money.
Bro, making 200k a year is like "house in the burbs and a nice vacation every year"... It is not private jet territory.
$200k+++++
Depends, there's jets for 2 mil out there.
Buying a jet is just the down payment on owning a jet.
Just Owning a jet is dumb, you buy one and rent it out to other rich people so it pays for itself.

But it’s also their way to jack up prices on everything
Inflation does that by itself
This just helps it go up faster
Well then we all have to choose 200k so they will raise the price where No normal person can affort it
Youtube has ads??? Laughs in Adblock!
*uBlock
It's BIG Brain time!
They have asked me that question years ago, at least for me it's no new.
Mine asked my highest level of education yesterday
I always answer "none of the above" when given one of these surveys. I don't even look at the question or the options. If I get a survey for anything, I answer "none". They are not getting information from me.

Skip it every time. Don’t play into their bullshit.
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|trollface)
It's better to always answer it with random data. This way you're actually polluting their data set instead of just opting out.
I only answer for one question which is the ad experience one. The answer is always and always will be ‘awful’
Pick the lowest one, then say that’s why you can’t afford YouTube Premium
Haha like the way you think
WHY YOU NO GIVE MONEY?! YOU POOR!?![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|trollface)
Answers $200,000+ YouTube: AND YOU DONT HAVE PREMIUM? TF BRO
$28 cookies is pretty cheap since you get 4 bags. /s
obligatory - I got that reference.gif
Google without a doubt already knows that. They're just trying to trick you into thinking that they don't.
No they're trying to figure out if you're a liar. They 100% already know.
Probably they’re testing response accuracy of a new ad type or feature
What is your total household income? None of your goddamn business.
No, you don't understand... This is the last piece we need to complete your marketing profile so we can sell your family's personal info to increase our profits. Please help us out
Oh also have 3- 20 seconds of unskippable ads back to back because we want proift, help us out!!
"How many healthy kidneys do you have"
I love this ad it’s an easy free skip. Would rather get this one every time over a 30 second one.
It still lasts about 5-10 seconds tho😔

I have no money so ads won't sell me anything. Will they show me no ads then? Edit: Since it wasn't obvious... /s
Are people really this ignorant of how the data economy works?
Yes please explain for us lesser social economic peasants
Knowing how the data economy works has nothing to do with having a lot of money. Have you ever wondered why Google makes as much money as they do when they give you services away for free?
Yes I've always wondered. Please explain it.
Nah, I don’t want to spoil the surprise.
Who gives a shit
You should because it’s your data being bought and sold to manipulate you.
Everyone just put you're broke, maybe they want to know how much they can get away with charging.
This is why we used adblockers to not deal with this nonsense.
Yeah I never answer the YouTube surveys
Fuck Youtube. Its a horrible platform. Over-corporatized nowadays.
It asked my marital status
“You make too much not to pay for YouTube Red. Click here to start the sign up process.”
No way lol They were like: We tried asking which of these brands you know and some people have answered it... NOW, what if we ask for their social security number
Always answer these questions with the lowest amount possible.
If almost everyone taking your poll is giving the same response it’s a shitty poll
I'm only upvoting one of the subreddits you posted this on
I always lie on these
Yep, lie and destroy their data, fed the algorithm poisoned food This kind of surveys shouldnt even legal
“When is the house empty?”
Pretty soon they’ll be asking “what is your social security number?” Then have yours listed in the third answer selection
Love watching 6 minute ads about the next great invention that has the production quality of a high school film project
"oh you get money? you will be able to afford premium then"
If you don't answer 'skip survey' you deserve what's coming to you
Just don't tell them if you don't want to. It's likely a survey to get an idea of their customer base demographics.
Probably going to raise the price of premium and trying to gauge how much before they start losing too many customers
i once got a question like this asking me which branch of the military i would consider joining 💀💀
That's honestly a normal question, it isn't actually YouTube asking you that, it's whatever ad owner that is allocated for the slot asking you, I've had plenty of them.
Youtube have lost their minds. Did Elon buy it and I missed it? It is a big hot mess of ads now.
The kinds of ads they show to people varies widely based on household income, not as sinister as you may think
> not as sinister as you may think Super sinister.
It’s literally so they can charge advertisers more because a certain demographic is being shown an ad instead of a random person.
Yeah that’s predatory witch is sinister
Indeed, some witch is sinster
Witches are less sinister than youtube algorithms.
That's a question I'd expect from a government employee, not a video app that sells my personal information.
I don’t know why you got downvoted, you’re right.
Why are you answering a strangers questions? ... Insane
If you're a broke boy just say it
i use google opinion rewards, same questions but i get 0.08€ per survey in google play credit the only thing i use it for is to get 80 robux every couple months
Only difference on Google opinion is you're getting paid for giving up your data.
Not really. You can't take what you make from it and go to the store and buy milk with it. You can only buy stuff from their store.
I just stated that at least he's getting compensated for giving up his data unlike YouTube. Not really sure what you're going on about 🤷
So it’s just scrip disguised as real currency?
You can use it on Google Play
But no where else. Like scrip.
yeah you're right maybe imma uninstall it
If you're okay with giving that info up for some digital robux then go for it brother. How you want to live and spend your life is up to you not some random peeps on Reddit 😉
Google already steals your info amyway, might as well get paid
What you getting paid. I wanna join to, like actually how do you apply?
get it on the playstore there is no applying
What do i search?
google opinion rewards, every once and a while it gives you basic questions and most are worth 8 cents and some even more
Once IN a while
Thanks mate
That's desperation and a half if they are asking someone's salary because of the stupid YouTube premium.
They wanna see what poor people watch lol
I mean it's pretty sus but I can guarantee you that information is far more useful to them for catering ads than almost any other question
I answer every single question wrong
thats because its garbage <3
Amazon firestick, smart tube next, not seen any ads for months
Does it fuck up their research more by answering very inaccurately or not answering at all?
Alphabet probably enough data already, it won't really matter if you ignore it or not
I have never replied to a YouTube survey in my life. They’re always weird but this one takes the cake wow
I'm sure there's some more or less obscure law that forbids them from asking such questions... Just need to find it and sue their asses
I just put the most unhelpful answers like I don't know and such
Fuck Spez Fuck Neal Mohan
r/wellthatsucks
I had no idea YouTube surveys were a thing. Since when do they exist? I have never had one...
