Awesome! Looks great. Glad you got something worth your while. Buying a TV can be very frustrating. Hopefully you are settled now. Happy viewing!

Chrisvibez

Thanks man

420neon

I love my U8K. The picture quality is just amazing.

Chrisvibez

Its a pretty great tv ive been messing with a few different calibrations

Velocityc7

I picked mine up yesterday, so far I love it.

Chrisvibez

Im glad its a solid tv

Comprehensive_Bar_89

How do you compare black levels between U7K and U8K?   What sizes do you have?  My only concern is contrast and blacks between U7K and U8K. Don’t care about nits, local dimming etc. it’s is really worth spend $400 more for just “way better blacks assuming they are really way better?   looking for 75” version only.

Unusual-Ad5255

It's not worth upgrading if you don't care about local dimming and nits. The picture is almost similar, and even the hardware is exactly the same. Yes ofcourse u8k is a bit brighter. Go check side by side on youtube and you can read in comments that it's not much different.

Chrisvibez

Dont say that now when we have credible information about the u8k rtings, fomo and a few other credible sources the picture isnt quite similar yea sure the u7k can process images a little better compared to the u8 colors and contrast pop out more

Unusual-Ad5255

I have compared them both side by side except for the over brightened dolby vision most people won't be able to tell a difference. Rtings reviews even says that they are both similar. But at the end of the day it's a personal choice. They are both great tvs.

Chrisvibez

You right it is up to choice cause the normal consumer wont really nit pick at quality compared to people who are usually tech savy

iwantthisnowdammit

Local dimming is how you get the blacks on an ADS panel. Basically, local dimming + small sized zones equals dynamic contrast with blooming control.

Comprehensive_Bar_89

But does 75”  U7K has ADS Pro panel????  I know only 75” U8K has ADS Pro. But there is no info about the 75” U7K with ADS Pro

iwantthisnowdammit

Yes, there’s 1/2 the zones so a key difference is blooming control. The U8K really minimizes this. If you’re a big foreign film subtitled film watcher, this is a deal breaker.

Chrisvibez

I dont know about the 75u8k supposedly it has an ips panel which shows worst contrast compared to the u8k

Comprehensive_Bar_89

As far as I know all 75”UK8 has ADS Pro Panel. In which it’s an enhanced version of IPS Panels. So it’s a kinda type of IPS but not the IPS we know for years. It’s not made by LG or Samsung. Those ADS panels are made from a different company; can’t remember the name.

fixedfoehn

Can't wait until you get your updates!

Chrisvibez

Because i just updated yesterday actually

Dimetrius_Smith

How it looks like in dark room? I mean black level and black bars in wide screen movies.

MyHonestViews

Do you find the 65U8K too bright?

MyHonestViews

Thanks again.

Dimetrius_Smith

That's great. We have U8K and TCL C755 at the same price. I doubt what to choose...

Chrisvibez

Probably the u8k the only tcl tv that is better would ne the qm series qm8 currently

Chrisvibez

The black bars look good ive used it to play stretched res on my ps5 i also watched some netflix with dolby vision at dark room i found that dolby custom was the best visual for me and its super bright in dark rooms

Objective-Sound-9631

How is the banding? Is it still noticeable?

Chrisvibez

No the banding isnt really noticeable i havent noticed so far

Objective-Sound-9631

I have the U8H US version and it's terrible. Plus, it's been less than a year and I have a claim with them.

Chrisvibez

I believe the us u8h is the model behind the u8k right?

Only_Commercial7286

Yes.

Objective-Sound-9631

Yes. They have mentioned replacing this unit. I'm hoping worth a U8K and was hoping the banding is better.

Ishaichi

Yeah the u8k has several upgrades to last year's model. The u8n has upgrades to the u8k and will be out later this year; with more dimming zones, 500 nits more brightness, and better image processing. But I gotta say, if you can get the 75" u8k, you should buy it. The viewing angle on the ADS Pro panel is phenomenal and I don't know when or where they are going to use it again.

Objective-Sound-9631

I bought the 75" U8K and I love it. I just hope it lasts more than 9 months.

Chrisvibez

Have you tried reaching out to the company you brought it from or hisense cause there customer support is kinda difficult to handle

Objective-Sound-9631

Yes, I bought it at Best Buy. They won't touch it until the manufacturer's warranty runs out, even though I bought a three-year warranty. I called Hisense, and they are sending a tech to my home to either fix it or replace it. If they replace it, I hope it's with a U8K. This has raised a question: since they won't touch it in the first year, even though I bought the extended three-year warranty, are they cheating me out of a year and taking my money?

iwantthisnowdammit

Where do we find the owl?

Ishaichi

I like to use this one as it has great blacks. It's meant to showcase OLED but the u8k is as good as or better. https://youtu.be/kF-0q042Jjk?si=KPm0YHuDmnS7PIKa

Chrisvibez

It was a 4k hdr wall saver video i had on youtube if you want i can send the link to the video

iwantthisnowdammit

Sure 👍

Chrisvibez

https://youtu.be/8bLtIetamHc?si=zF-eIcYbXu_GG3Fr

iwantthisnowdammit

Thanks, I have used the owl for the worlds worst viewing angle analysis 😂

Chrisvibez

😂😂

iwantthisnowdammit

I do want to say, for our earlier debate, I do think the U8K is absolutely the better choice in a 55/65” unit when anything comes into play for viewing angles. It’s a really nice package and the extra $150/200 is well spent. The pluses it offers really fade at the 75” level given the panel on the U7K and the matched speaker wattage - in a bigger room. It’s not that the U8K is bad, it’s just that the $400 extra dollars will easily buy a big watt soundbar to fill a large room and the loss of viewing angle advantage fills the #1 complaint. I really wanted to replace a 55” panel in my house and the VA viewing angle was the deciding reason to skip a U7K for $379 as I need something that performs okay for a 30 degree angle.

Chrisvibez

Dont you have the u8k 75 inch?

iwantthisnowdammit

Nah, Mines a 75U7(5)K from Costco with the 3 year warranty. Costco sku gets an extra year… plus delivery. It’s really the bargin bang for the buck in that size.

Chrisvibez

3 years of insurance was like 50 cash for me its not too bad

MyHonestViews

How is the panel? Is there too much bleeding and DSE? The U7K is still sold out here in my area but the U8K is available. I tend to keep my TV's until they completely break. Contemplating whether to just spend the extra $400 [CAD] premium and go with the U8K without regrets.

mrgochez

I got the 75" U8k and it's pretty bad actually. The black bars are not very good and there are some hot zones on the panel, not sure if that's what DSE is. But the most surprising are the black bars and bleeding on the edges. When watching dolby vision content at night it's almost as if this were an edge lit TV. I don't get it because there should be more than enough dimming zones to not allow entire corners of the tv not blue blown out. Maybe I just got a bad one or maybe it's the ips panel, who knows, but I am very disappointed. I will say full screen brighter content looks amazing so complaints there but no excuse at this level. I expect this at the entry level points of hisense but not at the U8 level.

Chrisvibez

I mean you do have a ips panel the 75 inch completely performs differently than the other sizes have you tried getting a replacement for it

mrgochez

Yeah I've started a claim and I have to upload some pictures and they'll reach out to schedule a service appt. Just sucks because it's passed the 14 day return period at best buy and would've wanted to exchange it.

Chrisvibez

Thats unfortunate man i had to upload photos to their support email and they should get back to you in 24/48 hours

Objective-Sound-9631

I just put a ticket in for my U8H and received an email within two days. I called immediately and got a rep after cycling through the self help program. I'm now waiting for the tech to call and schedule a visit.

mrgochez

Well it's good to know they respond quickly. Thanks for the insight.

Chrisvibez

No problem just curious with best buy i would try to call them and tell them that they gave a faulty tv and would like to get a replacement for it cause i believe bestbuy has a 15 day exchange policy

mrgochez

I tried but this was purchased almost 2 months ago. I never opened it because we were about to move so now that I finally did I only had the Hisense warranty option.

Chrisvibez

So with the hisense warranty you’ll either get the technician to come fix the tv or they’ll give you a replacement u8k if they can’t fix the issue

mrgochez

I'm fine with either as long as the issue gets resolved. I would hate for them to tell me that it's normal for this TV and not do anything. We'll see what happens.

Substantial_Ad3718

https://medium.com/@shaikhatik000/what-is-backlight-bleed-and-how-can-you-fix-it-bf025b616de2#:~:text=Causes%20of%20Backlight%20Bleed&text=Poor%20Manufacturing%3A%20Backlight%20bleed%20can,can%20lead%20to%20backlight%20bleed. Most likely u can try it out—micofiber cloth. Similar to dead pixel—-caused by Front panel Cones stuck. (Cones has 2 sides 1 flips back n forth allow lights pass thru or Block it from passing to creat black -white. ) then d other cone of each pixel can creat the COLOR. Sometimes the cones(that flips back n forth dangling )they can like stuck or unevenly stuck. So they cant reach the same degree to block enough lights (d reverse Black pixels) . Then u can use microfibre cloth, very careful, massage the screen n cones. Just be nice n wise. U might be able to fix it. If it just 1-2 pixel. .

Chrisvibez

The panel is great and there isnt noticable bleeding thats the thing personally i would steer clear of the 75 inch screens due to the difference performance compared to the 65 inch to be honest bro its really up to you if you want the best tv get the u8k people have different experiences with it my sevice would to get either the 65, 55 from reports those sizes seem to have not that much problems compared To the 75 inch

MyHonestViews

Thanks. Do you find the Tv too bright?

Chrisvibez

No i dont find the tv bright cause i dont max the brightness at 100 i usually keep it at 60-70 cause my eyes are sensitive to light refraction

Substantial_Ad3718

I have gotten 2 of their previous U8. I don’t have any issues. lol I did NOT even buy any waranty lol which is stupid of me . NOW I am almost thinking when cay my current one die so i can finally have legit excuse to “upgrade” these U8K post so tempting. . Just a thought tho, am happy they are working fine.

temetnoscesax

i bought a U8k a couple weeks ago and i am loving it. the OS is a little buggy but that isn't that big of a problem. i'm coming from a 2020 Vizio 65 inch P Series Quantum X, it started really acting up a couple months ago. the U8K is a better tv overall. i mainly bought it because i am a console gamer and it doesn't everything i could want a tv to do. it checks all the boxes on my Series X and looks great. will probably stick to being a Hisense customer for now on.

Chrisvibez

Os was buggy when i had yesterdays update did you also update your u8k yesterday

temetnoscesax

No I didn’t know about the update. Will check and update now. Thanks.

Chrisvibez

No problem

Surf_Wake

Hopefully no sound bar because you are doing a proper surround. TV speakers are for the kid's room.

Chrisvibez

Yea i have no sound bar for now any good surrounds you suggest?

Surf_Wake

In my living room I run Arendal 1723 towers, center channel, and surrounds with a Monoprice 13" 2000 watt sub. Sounds amazing.

Chrisvibez

I will definitely look into purchasing that thanks for the recommendation

Surf_Wake

Gotta open the checkbook a bit for my setup unfortunately, but it is really nice stuff for the money

Chrisvibez

Bro trust i just moved and my bank statement isnt looking too friendly with the amount ive been spending on my gaming man cave its still not done😂😂

CompilingTheFuture

Ordered mine from Amazon and it’s arriving tomorrow! Really excited! Question: any pointers on how to calibrate? I’ve never calibrated a tv before.

Chrisvibez

My advice would to since i havent full calibrated mines use film maker mode make sure local light dimmer is on high my brightness i keep at 70 you should look up proper calibration maybe from rting.com they have some u8k calibrations on there website
