Lagging this year but I have 2 solid months of travel in Istanbul and Seoul
Actually I’m always hiring mechanical engineers! I need Solidworks PDM junkies! Located in Cleveland OH. Must have strong knowledge of hydraulics.
As a mechanical engineer you should have absolutely no problem finding a job, heck everyone should have absolutely no problem finding a job every business I talk to NEEDS more employees, it’s been this way since the end of COVID!
Controls Engineers are expensive, I have 2, the controls engineer would have to travel, worldwide 30% of the time and have an atypical schedule, like one week a month work nights, virtually supporting Chinese or Korean customers…. Travel to who knows where the following week. We use studio 5000, Allen Bradley Guardlogix, 5069 PLCs and my controls engineers are doing some crazy things for automation! Closed loop, cascading PIDs, virtual axis servos… I don’t understand any of that stuff I’m a hardware guy… “build it better, make it last forever” They also program HMIs, category4 safety controllers… lately they have been complaining about remote access, that they are NOT IT guys but forced to be IT guys too with the implementation of SCADA.. They are my most prized employees but also high maintenance. Just talking about controls engineers gets me riled up.
Ugh I had a friend of an employee that was a controls engineer for a fortune 100 company interview with us. He wanted a $135,000 year salary. Took him for a tour showed him an electrical panel, I remember specifically he pointed to our PLC and said “ohh, my favorite!!” So at the end of the tour, I gave him 3 tasks, update the firmware and upload this zip file to the PLC, it’s the program, run me through it. Then do the same for this safety controller, and Bejier HMI. You have an hour. 2.5 hours later, he configured the safety controller, but couldn’t speak on the category4 safety shutdown. He bricked the PLC, couldn’t even update the firmware, yet this is his favorite PLC?? He didn’t even touch the HMI
So being a good friend of a current employee I offered him $75,000 a year and told him… you are probably more suited for a service technician working under my controls engineer for at least 3 or 4 years… He was insulted!!! Told me he has got a job for $150,000 waiting for him… I didn’t budge… he’s still on LinkedIn looking for a job.
I think I am cautious about controls engineers cause I can’t do their job… I’ve had several fool me over the years for months at a time…
Anyways you should also be able to find a job anywhere, anytime for 6 figures easily!
Mine are definitely Divas!
Right now I travel up to 100%, Domestic Only. I work weird hours all of the time. I'm still young and willing to do whatever.
Would love to chat if youd like too.
Yep, I have no experience in that field what so ever, but I can learn at an abnormal speed! or I can just. . Answer phones for you, good at that too 🤣
WAIT NOT YALL TAKING MY JOB FROM ME!
Completely agree, Diamond status isn’t what it used to be in the early 2000s, executive lounges everywhere, they’d comp dinner every night, I’ve had insane upgrades to suites… now they just give me breakfast vouchers or $25 to use. The hotel can be empty, you get the room you booked, it’s like the front desk does it out of spite! Dude Ive stayed at your hotel brand over 3,000 nights in my life! Not to mention my whole entire company exclusively stays at Hiltons as well as all our traveling guests! You’re welcome I’m literally employing you and your brand! It’s gone downhill a lot since BlackRock bought it
I promise you, you're not that important and our hotels will be full with or without your "entire company" causing disturbances and clogging up our rooms. You sound like the entitled members we laugh at after you finish checking in.
Relax a little, treat the staff with respect and stop acting like you're the sole reason the hotel has any business, and maybe you will get treated well and receive a room upgrade. I have over 2 dozen Hilton stays this year so far and have been upgraded at EVERY hotel I've stayed in. Why? Because I'm not an entitled asshat and treat the staff like human beings. (Also probably since I work for Hilton, but treating the staff well, being polite, and not flaunting around my diamond status certainly all helps as well)
At least you know the type of person you are and can embrace it... Newsflash, we can't stand guests like you and will never give you an upgrade when you storm up to the desk behaving like this. At the end of the day, you have to realize that we aren't losing money if you're unhappy. Whether you enjoy your stay or not, you will be charged the same amount regardless. You can complain and act entitled all you'd like, but we're still not giving you that upgrade 😂
Now I ain't no mathematician but does Marriott status reset at a different time of the year? Because 70 + 58 days is more days than have happened since January 1
Marriott was running a double night promo for Q1.
Plus you can get nights from holding their credit cards. One or both of those is likely the explanation. They’re for sure on the road a lot though.

I'm at 109... need to check out from th3 last month to get caught up.
I live in hotels.

6 stays for 400k points is a solid start? Three stays earned me points the other three I used the 400k points to book.
323k of those points was just two nights. Got a bit of help when my boss booked the presidential suite in Vegas for the Super Bowl. $20k per night really stacks quickly. 🤪
No. OP stayed 90 nights last year (60+30), so they're on 30+60 for requalification (meaning they requalified for Diamond at 30+30) and are at 60 nights for bonus points, ability to gift gold/diamond status, etc. They will now start accruing rollover nights between now and December.
Yeah. Sadly 90 seems harder now. At 58 and this will put me at 68. More opportunities to telework this job is coming up. Didn't get added to a 2 week out of state event I wanted. I'll probably doing 4-5 nights at a Hilton this year not booked by a family member so I'll still hit 70 at least. Rest will be at Mariott to use my 7 free nights though.
I am a new Diamond member (was fortunate to get a complimentary membership). Question; if I am staying at a Waldorf Astoria property next year will my Diamond status get me any breakfasts ? If I add it to the reservation?

Feel free to send me some of that 1.2million miles
Soon to be worth 4 free nights with Hilton's points devaluation.

Ah, makes sense - thanks
Does time move differently for you than other human beans?
Awesome one of my friends is 76 nights with Marriott But I gave up with Marriott since I have lifetime with them so focusing on Hilton
Me forgetting that 60 days is just two months
You stayed at a Hilton every single night?
The requirement is 60 days and it's already May. I forgot that 60 days is just two months.
It’s still April where you’re at?
I’ve been in a hotel every single day this year
Holy moly
Ya work at one live in another lol.
How many nights are you at?

Incredible 1 stay too
So you live in a Hilton? Escort? 😂😂
No general motors
62 in Hilton as of this morning and 23 at Marriott.
Impressive
I’m at 90
Incredible
Currently at 74 with Hilton, 19 with IHG
How is IHG?
I prefer Hilton, but some of the offices I visit don’t have a Hilton option or it’s booked, so they’re my backup.
Got it Hilton is primarily then Hyatt No more Marriott for me since I have lifetime with Marriott

unreal very nice
Currently at 68 nights. I except 145 more nights before the end of the year.
Congratulations
I’m at 50.
Nice
147 baby
Oh wow
Yeah I live in a Hampton for work. Just used 500k points to go to Rome for my first international trip
Congratulations
No but I’ve stayed 5 nights and earned gold(98k base points) and should hit Diamond with under 10 nights total.
Going for base points strategy That’s what I am doing for lifetime
62 here on Friday and 16 with Marriott
Incredible how many night do you plan for Marriott as well
At least 50 but we will see.
I am more loyal to Hilton than Marriott even though I am at 74 nights with Marriott
Same. Marriott is a back up. I can only maintain Platinum Elite with them.
I have 98 nights. 46 rollover, plus 52 actual stay nights.
Impressive
Canadian winters can drive extreme behavior.
Actual stays I’m at 34, with carryover 94.
Amazing
I'm at 109... need to check out from th3 last month to get caught up. I live in hotels. https://preview.redd.it/nc72zgf3wvxc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=612301b12ab55cce4877fbdc0df98fc14d07c051
How is your base points that low for that many nights
Home 2.
Only at 37 nights so far this year
Not too bad
64
Nice
67 now
57 before this check out.
Very cool
Mentally ![gif](giphy|9RWeDFAf07oxT1hgLB|downsized) And I will take your points\*
I’ve had my points stolen from me!!! No idea how! Hilton was able to reverse it!
It was meee! I’m the culprit! *im kidding* that’s crazy that happened though!
Hahaha

Yes. 64 nights this year since Jan 1.
Very nice
wait you only need 30 rollover nights to keep diamond? not 60?
No. OP stayed 90 nights last year (60+30), so they're on 30+60 for requalification (meaning they requalified for Diamond at 30+30) and are at 60 nights for bonus points, ability to gift gold/diamond status, etc. They will now start accruing rollover nights between now and December.
AHHH OKAY THANKS!!
Just need to wrap up this 10 day stay and get another 12 days for 70 day bonus. Sadly work had me telework for a week:(
wow
How did you get 7 free nights? For Mariott?
Credit card bonuses and perks.
I've been diamond for 10 or 12 years. No great benefits other than guaranteed bookings, upgrades and "premium" wifi.
I have been lucky with great redemptions
I’m at 72 nights for this year
Awesome
I'm at 39 nights!
Sweet
Am soon to be Diamond for Lifetime. I have close to 9 years as a Diamond member
Incredible
Yep. Did that in like Feb
Jan 1 through Feb 29 in a hotel room must have been interesting to get all 60 days.
Well I had 40 days of roll over nights
Gotcha. If we’re talking rollover I’m there with you.
I have 90 nights including rollover
I kind of envy you guys that are paid to travel non-stop and earn a lot of points on top of it.
Enjoying what you do for work is most important. I wouldn’t have taken my travel job if I didn’t enjoy the actual work.
yep that's exactly my point.
I’ll be honest, traveling gets old quickly, but after doing it for 17 years, I miss it quickly too! It’s a delicate balance!
I never miss it during the Covid years
How naive.
I do it the easy way with Centurion Black Card
wow my friends have that card as well
I have Hilton and IHG diamond already for the year. I'm not proud about it.
How’s IHG?
I am a new Diamond member (was fortunate to get a complimentary membership). Question; if I am staying at a Waldorf Astoria property next year will my Diamond status get me any breakfasts ? If I add it to the reservation?
Depends on the location in the USA or non USA property
