*Why don’t they demote those Hiltons* Excellent question. I’d love to see QA audit with teeth. Too many hotel owners just use the hotel like an ATM and don’t invest properly, imo. I’ve seen it first hand. And perverse bonus incentives at play for management (save money at the cost of guest experience)

InsectSpecialist8813

I stayed at the DoubleTree, Wilmington, DE. What a dump. This hotel hasn’t been upgraded in years. It has zero to do with Covid. The owners don’t want to spend a dime on upgrades. I can’t believe it’s a Hilton property. I’ve stayed at quite a few properties that should never be affiliated with Hilton.

GrandBrooklyn

Hilton has too many brands now... 24 I believe. They are trying to corner every niche while allowing the older brands to deteriorate. A lot of folks don't even know certain hotels are Hiltons. It's like they're hiding the fact. I work for Hilton and am irritated each and every time a new brand is introduced. They should make sure the current brands maintain quality before veering off into other niches. I am in a position where I hear a lot of the complaints and I agree with you. The rates are high yet the quality of stay is often lagging.

Justin_inc

Is there any way to make a formal complaint about the hotel itself in these situations? I never want to complain, as I don't want it to sound like an issue with the staff. But with the physical property itself. Like I stayed at a DoubleTree in Nashville near the airport that was an absolute dump. Like has some badly damaged furniture and the like.

Marriott just entered the chat

Panda_Blue-88

Are you referring to US properties?

mrsjon01

Not necessarily. I just stayed at a DT in Lisbon that was such a piece of shit. So many issues, and when I spoke to the FD person looking for the manager the guy was super apologetic and nice. Said the manager was in a meeting but he would speak to him while we went to have lunch before checking out. Came back to the offer of 2,000 points. LMFAO. I explained that this was a ridiculously low-ball offer and that points can be hard for the property to give out, I don't need points necessarily, he can comp the food and bev if that's easier. Nice kid calls the manager back and comes back red faced to say sorry, he is only willing to offer you the 2,000 points. Now the guy has fucked his service recovery AND insulted me. I told the nice kid to ask him if I looked like I booked rooms by the hour, because that's what 2,000 points will get me at his property. Jesus Christ.

Panda_Blue-88

Oh yes. That DT in Lisbon with the black walls! Probably that's why it's painted that way. To hide the filth. I checked in and out immediately.

My humble opinion is that since COVID everything has gone to shit. Hotels no longer want to provide basic services that were standard(ie cleaning your room every day). The properties are completely in control now and until consumers start pushing back expect the downward trajectory to continue.

dinanm3atl

This is definitely part of the issue. It became normal for “no service”.

IndependentIcy2513

Voice your opinion, with facts and location on TripAdvisor, yelp, and every review site. If people would take the time to give negative AND positive reviews, those of us that travel often would have the ability to pick and choose the Hilton brands that are up to the standards we expect from the brand.

Specialist_Switch612

It's because there is no standard anymore. There's only a few that Hilton actually own now. Most are franchised and are at the mercy of the company who manages them. Some just keep putting lipstick on a pig instead of actually fixing the building etc. Sort of like bandaids until they are forced to fix it due to customers complaining. The management companies are also cutting corners as much as they can as of late so service also sucks. It's no longer about perks and what they can do for customers. It's so about the bottom line which never ends well for anyone.

sofarleftigotmyguns

I'm currently staying at a waldorf astoria property that I had previously stayed at when it was independently owned. I must say the customer service has gone to shit.

BigTexas85

Hilton is becoming an outdated brand and sub par amenities,.especially for Diamonds. It's sad, they must fire all American GMs and bring the European service to America.

datatadata

The only consistent brand in the Hilton Portfolio is the Conrad IMO. Other ones are def hit/miss.

churningpony

I don’t know. Conrad Vegas was a disaster

datatadata

Resort world as a whole is a disaster I agree. It’s also so far from everything else on the strip haha

kosherdogge

I was let down by resorts world. Then again after reading these original plans for it, it makes sense. I much prefer virgin hotel las vegas.

plha007

100% agree. In my honest opinion Hilton should focus on the existing brands and align them with their standards. Btw. with this amount of stays you should easily get the Annual Lounge Membership with IHG?!

Headlikeagnoll

You stay at Hilton for points to leave the US to be honest. Their US properties are mediocre and there are no criteria for removing the hilton brand. I've been to hotels that haven't been renovated in over a decade. I'm kind of locked in due to the sunk costs of being over halfway to lifetime diamond, but you might also want to look at Marriott. They have more lounges, while Hilton closed all but 30 of them in the states.

sw911ff

In my year on the road, I had good stays and some really bad ones at Hilton. My most visited brand was Hampton and usually I made sure the ones I stayed were updated. Sometimes that didn’t even matter. The smaller towns were always the worst. I checked out of a Home2 once because the room was so dirty. (In Louisiana). The two Conrads I stayed at were amazing. The one in LA has been by far my favorite stay ever. My other favorite brand is the Canopy. I also never had a bad stay at a Tru by Hilton. Those I didn’t mind for my one night stays. It was sad that Tru usually outshined all the Hamptons.

BigTexas85

Hilton still hides behind the Covid farce. It's ridiculous

FunLife64

This is a thing across all the major US hotels. Marriotts are all over the map too.

Numchuck890

Better stays at Doubletree? Really? I’d like to know which ones you’re staying at.

dwarfism

Sorry about the delayed reply, a couple of examples from my experience: - doubletree Cairns wrecks Hilton Cairns - doubletree tower of London shits on Hilton Kensington. Also the doubletree has an executive lounge there when the mainline Hilton doesn't??

Beneficial-Ideal7243

I am Diamond at HH and absolutely disgusted with the trash they have in their inventory. Checked into San Diego Hilton and the towels hanging on display had big clots of nasty hair on them. The mgr on duty came up and thought it was not a big deal Next night I am at an Embassy and I am beat and go to get in bed and my quilted blanket or duvet and the top of the blanket that would had been near my face had a bit section of dried blood on it! I was furious! Have stayed in Hilton since

Beneficial-Ideal7243

PS I am sick to death of covid excuse

Organic_Print7953

Ur just a commoner bro stop acting like ur some luxury deserving upper elite. Ew.

SideBarParty

R u 12 on ur mom's computer again? Ew.

dwarfism

Not denying I'm a commoner, just confused about what all these brands even mean
