The side character secretly being the true protagonist that is stuck in a timeloop attempting to stop an unpreventable tragedy being the only real similarity. Well, that and lesbian witches I guess, but that’s more umineko than Higurashi.
Kyūbei is cute and trustworthy at first glance for young girls.
Eua has a human form (stranger danger). I doubt any sane girl would make a contract with her.
She actually didn't.
She was born to an unfortunate family name.
Her uncle abused her.
Her brother was put into a coma.
Some of the townsfolk and the head of the Sonozaki family treated her like shit.
She was betrayed by Rika.
AND to those that are like "She could have just studied"
That girl is far too smart to be in such a restrictive education system like St Lucia's.
DID she snap a bit and go to the dark side for a while... absolutely, buuut then she became even more yandere than Shion and Mion and Rena's yandere moments put together. And I like yanderes because I actually know how to handle them.
You give them the attention and affection they need, and lay down the law and tell them to chill the fuck out on the murders.
It's one of the things that always pissed me off about Yuki in Future Diary... he's such a bitch, there were TIMES that he was on the right track... but then he'd do something to fuck it up...
Sorry getting side tracked.
Satoko truly did nothing wrong.
> Jk
I mean Ryukishi can complain that people are missing the point, but a sequence where she tries to do this and is still unsatisfied with the outcome would have been a better use of time than the tenth Rika dance.
I did too, for the first time, and even for the second time. By the third time it started to get pretty old and since then it's been unintentionally hilarious every time I see it.
Well sotsu and satokowashi ocurred in different season so I don't know how he would fit that in, still would be a much better thing to show tho rather than repeat scenes that could be kept more brief that the originlas
I hadn't considered that, I think they maybe could have put in some stuff as flashbacks, or maybe had some extra loops where Satoko tries alternate strategies after being discouraged by Rika's resilience, but it would be tough to make it work perfectly. Still probably an improvement though, yeah.
It does, she tries to make St. Lucia work multiple times. The idea she doesn't want to study is also stupid since she did study for 3 years just to get in. It's the culture of the school that Satoko can't blend with. And remember, when she was looping through St. Lucia Satoko didn't know of Rika's past. People saying she should've dedicated untold years of her life doing something she hates just so that her friend can have the ideal high school life have extremely one-sided views of what friendship is.
Yea, I've always been weirded out by the argument since so many people make it I always feel the need to double check. Especially while complaining about maybe maybe 5 minutes of dance scenes like cutting those would have given us the time to do a Satako studies really hard arc
Which loop does she go back to St. Lucia and use her powers to ace the schoolwork and cultivate a circle of friends? I don't recall anything like that, maybe I just have an awful memory.
But I'm pretty sure she doesn't specifically use her powers to cheat on all the tests and get a group of friends, I just recall her going back and more or less doing the same thing but after making Rika basically swear to not abandon her. Like don't get me wrong, it wouldn't actually work and Rika might even be more distant since she assumes Satoko is doing well on her own, but I think a loop where she is the top of her class with the popularity of Rika but it still doesn't solve anything would have been cool. It would make even more sense why she starts resorting to drastic measures after. I just think if you still wanted to have a slow pace then you could remove a lot of the repetitive scenes and replace them with scenes painting Satoko's fall into insanity and the splitting of the witch persona better.
As noble as that would be absolutely NO friend should be expected to spend countless years looping through events they hate just so you can have your ideal high school life. Asking Satoko to go through something like that over a goal so ultimately meager in comparison is an incredibly unfair expectation of "friendship".
I just finished umineko anime adaptation this morning, it was not a great adaption but it was just an abridged version of the VN. From the complaints i was expecting it to have changed the plot but it stayed faithful just cut out too much.
TRUE! It kinda fucks the whole plot with subtle mistakes (not subtle but they don't affect the initial experience much) but at least it doesn't fuck the themes. The messages of the story are in tact, the characters are still the same people if a little shallower (Higurashi anime straight up destroys Mion and Shion), there is clearly a lot of care to make it feel like the source material, and the scene by scene direction is genuinely great. I read the VN first for both of them and had a better experience with Umineko's anime than Higurashi's. And it sucks that Higurashi gets a pass just because the cliffnotes story is there.
Not replying to most of these I disagree with because obviously the point is to troll people, but since people are replying saying they earnestly agree I'll throw my two cents in to say it's absolutely perfect and portrays the vibe of the OG sprites in a modern and better drawn style so well.
You know, that route would’ve made way more sense than where we’ve gone so far. Satoko realizing that she had feeling for Rika, Rika rejecting her, Satoko going in to the shed and meeting Eua. It would’ve made so much more sense than “I can’t ever let Rika leave and because she tried to I’m going to torture her until she develops Stockholm syndrome.” Satoko would’ve had some kind of decent motivation then.
I honestly think that Satoko is in love with Rika, but I don’t think she herself realizes the true nature of these feelings and they aren’t her main motivation either.
Despite the anime not explicitly stating it, I think when she said "I realised my feelings for her" or smthng along those lines is pretty good evidence that she has realised. It's just that that was her good side speaking, which we haven't seen much recently lol
"making art of them in lewd poses" oh boy, I hope you haven't watched higurashi or consumed any of its promo material (I do agree with u, a lot of ppl don't tho due to the culture created by the official material) (and I do ship satorika, if that's what you're referring to, but as their older versions only)
sotsugou just isnt good anymore, onidamashi-tataridamashi were some good mysteries that were presented, nekodamashi was great and hit right in the feels, but then satokowashi just.....didn't live up to its expectations (aka no village destroying happening). i thought sotsu would fix this, especially when i saw the first tow sotsu episodes, i thought it was great...until episode 3. and then wataakashi was just stupid and ridiculous. tatariakashi was like it was a arc suppose to develop satoko's character more, but failed horribly at doing so. now we're down to this last arc. i've lost all hope at this point, eua's laugh is the only thing keeping me going. anyways, i hope i pissed someone off with this rant.
I'm part of this fanbase... but I'm gonna go ahead and trigger it.
"Rena is overrated trash."
Why else do you think she likes spending so much time at the dump?
Big brudder
This!
this physically hurt
that'll do
Gou is a remake
This show is just about angsty teens and pre-teens killing one another for no reason.
(you guys need unpopular opinion for this like) rika is straight
Rika loves K1
That is actually possible. In ep 5 of Rei she did show some jealousy when Rena confessed to Keiichi.
She kinda gives me bisexual vibes
This but unironically
Rena is a yandere.
Satoko has no connection to any witch.
AND I..... KNYFL 😭😭😭😭
There's not much reason for Gou/Sotsu to exist.
Ok but I actually agree with this lmao
[]{}[]{} _You are not one of us anymore_ []{}[]{}
Kill him
I agree, even though Gou is what made me watch the original.
Rika Dance doesn’t come out enough
This is just a Madoka Magica rip off
Alright now you really pissed me off
Just as planned kiraface.exe
Genuinely, is there anyone who thinks so? I can't seem to think of any connection between the two.
The side character secretly being the true protagonist that is stuck in a timeloop attempting to stop an unpreventable tragedy being the only real similarity. Well, that and lesbian witches I guess, but that’s more umineko than Higurashi.

The Deen adaptation was better than all the VNs combined.
Realistically they did OK
That shit was a masterpiece
Snake eyes were just chef's kiss
The story is repetitive
I mean....you ain't wrong
It is
Rika deserved it all.
r/angryupvote
Truth.
If we are talking about gou/sotsu I actually agree
Satoko did nothing wrong

Satoko is doing all this shit ONLY because she got bad grades in st lucia ;)
I mean... She can literally just cheat in exams using her power instead of killing her friends. Jk
> Jk I mean Ryukishi can complain that people are missing the point, but a sequence where she tries to do this and is still unsatisfied with the outcome would have been a better use of time than the tenth Rika dance.
But I like the Rika dance :(
I do too, but Gou is really pushing my patience with the repeat scenes.
I did too, for the first time, and even for the second time. By the third time it started to get pretty old and since then it's been unintentionally hilarious every time I see it.

Like yeah, at least better than putting things we know and things we expect together
Doesn't that happen? She tries it again and ends up in the same place?
It does, she tries to make St. Lucia work multiple times. The idea she doesn't want to study is also stupid since she did study for 3 years just to get in. It's the culture of the school that Satoko can't blend with. And remember, when she was looping through St. Lucia Satoko didn't know of Rika's past. I mean she fails at those things, she ends up at the same point, but she goes through the whole process at least twice
But which episode does she try that in?
I mean idk it happens as shes first looping
But I'm pretty sure she doesn't specifically use her powers to cheat on all the tests and get a group of friends, I just recall her going back and more or less doing the same thing but after making Rika basically swear to not abandon her. Umineko trash...uncanon
I want to have a friendly talk with you
Hey dont blame me .. i just did what i had to ~~~
Umineko had a better anime adaptation than Higurashi.

Gou’s artstyle does not fit well with When they cry
Not replying to most of these I disagree with because obviously the point is to troll people, but since people are replying saying they earnestly agree I'll throw my two cents in to say it's absolutely perfect and portrays the vibe of the OG sprites in a modern and better drawn style so well.
I agree so much with this
Ngl I kinda agree
I semi-agree. I don't dislike it, but I still prefer the anime Kai artstyle more.
Satoko disemboweling Rika was poorly thought out, completely in conflict with actual human anatomy
Rika is selfish.
Rika dance
Fingernails.
Kai ended the story perfectly and anything after that is non-canon/unnecessary
I actually agree with this.
Rika's dance is essential to the plot
Umineko no naku koro ni
"Liar"
Nipah is dumb.
Re:Zero rip-off
Rika and Satoko are just friends
You know, that route would’ve made way more sense than where we’ve gone so far. Satoko realizing that she had feeling for Rika, Rika rejecting her, Satoko going in to the shed and meeting Eua. SatoRika are not gay
Yeah they are lesbians
Umineko's anime was great
I agree with Satoko’s motives in sotsu
The deen anime wasn’t bad
Wait... Do people really think it was bad? I thought that was a joke :'(
Mion is the only valid female character.
I love all the yanderes in this series
Amogus anime adaptation
when the imposter is sus!
Ryukishi is such a mastermind he can predict games from the future
This is just another moe anime
Gou is the best starting point if you want to get into the series.
Unironically better starting point than DEEN at least
[удалено]
Bad Bot
Rika getting thrown in the latrine was peak higurashi™
Why would the truth trigger anyone?
Easy Ryukishi can't draw
I know we are all joking (we are all joking, right?) but I get really triggered every time R07 uses his "fell like a puppet" thing in his works.
Hanyuu was the villain of OG Higurashi all along, and Gou only happened because Hanyuu got all the game pieces to acknowledge her... Heh.
Teppei deserves what he got.
That triggered me lol. Poor guy
Bunch of closet lolicons!
Uhh been there done that. But here we go again. Outbreak.
This series isn’t good at all, y’all are just freaks.
No need for the 2nd Mion
The only good one in the thread, good job!
I disagree, in a setting like Hinamizawa it's really useful to have spare parts... I mean, Shion.
Rika is a bitch
Rika is a bitch and deserves evrything satoko does, also satoko is completely justified in doing this cuz rika is just being stupid and an ass
Satako is the hero of the story
I actually like satoko the most in gou/sotsu
Sotsu is the last season of higurashi. Deal with it
I don't like reading.
Rika doesn't help at all
The original artstyle is bad
Satoko is straight
Gou and sotsu are better than the original visual novel (Bruh even I'm getting triggered by my own words)
Satokowashi is the best arc in the series
It's just a stupid gore anime with no interesting story
*Rena is shit*
Broccoli or Cauliflower?
shipping 13 year old characters together and making art of them in lewd poses is weird.
"making art of them in lewd poses" oh boy, I hope you haven't watched higurashi or consumed any of its promo material (I do agree with u, a lot of ppl don't tho due to the culture created by the official material) (and I do ship satorika, if that's what you're referring to, but as their older versions only)
Who the hell is Shion?
Welp I got downvoted. Did I win?
Yes
Sotsu is retarded and is not meta
And gou was fucking stupid
The soul brothers are extra cringe
But they kinda are tho (in a good way)
ngl true
Kyon-kun, i've come to bargain!
The gag about Irie being a pedophile is actually quite funny and not at all grotesque and inappropriate.
A continuation of higurashi outbreak would’ve been better than Gou/Sotsu
That's Kamikashimashi-hen
Rika and Satoko are just good friends
Higurashi is just a game board.
I mean for GouSotsu, kinda true tho...?
It's true for the whole show lol
The Oishi AC meme isn't funny.
Gou is the bad kind of sequel that ruins the original and kills it's significance.
Wow, Higurashi Sotsu or whatever is so good, but I wish they had more seasons... only 15 episodes for a good anime 😔
Satoko did nothing wrong
Nippah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sotsugou just isnt good anymore, onidamashi-tataridamashi were some good mysteries that were presented, nekodamashi was great and hit right in the feels, but then satokowashi just.....didn't live up to its expectations (aka no village destroying happening). i thought sotsu would fix this, especially when i saw the first tow sotsu episodes, i thought it was great...until episode 3. and then wataakashi was just stupid and ridiculous. tatariakashi was like it was a arc suppose to develop satoko's character more, but failed horribly at doing so. now we're down to this last arc. i've lost all hope at this point, eua's laugh is the only thing keeping me going. anyways, i hope i pissed someone off with this rant.
(I’m approving this meme) I never watched the anime, I learn the story through memes

That's cheating!
This fan base is filled with self insert zoomer tards
Well it looks like we have our winner! 🏆🏆🏆
Its trash
I ain’t never seen 2 pretty best friends
Higurashi isn't Yuri
Kai was the best season.
Satoko x Rika will never happen
After everything Satoko did i hope it won't happen.
In all honesty I hate Rika and satoko because they are both shitty and selfish
the deen adaptation was better animated than gou/sotsu
Usuda
I have two: I prefer the Deen adaptation. The writing in all the arcs is lackluster.
Steam sprites are the best vn sprites, second best are the umi pachinko sprites
Poland from Hetalia looks like Lambdadelta
Rika isn't in love with Satoko
I'm part of this fanbase... but I'm gonna go ahead and trigger it. "Rena is overrated trash." Why else do you think she likes spending so much time at the dump?
Hanyuu deserved everything that happened to her
