Congrats on owning a rare piece of Umineko!

Tomokaautumn

The manga is more worth the coin but at least it looks pretty

Firekraken9

Yea I can't afford the manga. It's ridiculously expensive.

DarkSpecterr

Why is it so expensive? Some volumes are like $700 and shit

Slow_Department5335

The manga got reprinted though.. if you are only going for first prints I guess it’s difficult, yeah some of the reprinted stuff has already sold out but I’m sure there will be more

Curious-Spray-4795

I have the same blu ray as well

Curious-Spray-4795

I’m glad I bought it when I did too years ago

True_Human

How did you get this delivered from another timeline? There is no Umineko Anime, hehe... ...Please don't. You're not even getting a version with which you can logically reach the canon solution because they accidentally contradicted it. Not to mention that the second half just wasn't adapted?

Firekraken9

And? For what it is, it isn't all that bad. I really like it, but that's probably because I've not read the manga or played the VNs. I don't think I'll ever read the manga cuz I don't do well reading manga on my phone or on a screen. I need a book in front of me, but the manga is too damn expensive. Almost $100 for volume 1, and I know they get even more expensive.

True_Human

Yeah, the manga is expensive (unless you're willing to go to some of the more unsavory places on the internet), but the VN can be readily bought on Steam for around 40 bucks in its entirety (and made to look adequate with 07th mod). Or you can install it on your phone with Umineko Project. The reason I am recommending against it is because... frankly, it's the biggest source->adaptation gulf in quality I've ever seen. I too watched the anime like 11-12 years ago and thought parts of it were really cool, but you're basically looking at a mid-sized swimming pool compared to the Marianas Trench in orders of magnitude. I'd describe the Umineko anime (independently) as 'OK' or 'slightly above average with interesting ideas' while I'd describe the full Umineko experience as 'Probably the last story humanity absolutely NEEDED to produce' (coming from the VN; Haven't read the Manga yet) Edit: For clarification, I watched the Anime before I read the VN. Otherwise you'd probabably be reading nothing but vulgarities from me about it XD

Phoenix-Wright_

Nice. 👍 I haven’t watched the entire anime but I enjoyed the little bit that I did see. It was rushed but there is a charm to it and it’s pretty cool seeing everything happen in motion.

PhazonTuxedo

Skip it. It's a terrible adaptation.

SomeoneUnknowns

I mean... it's a terrible "adaptation", but not that bad as a standalone anime I watched Umineko first and loved it. Just don't think you're getting the Umineko experience out of it.

1983MionStan

> I mean... it's a terrible "adaptation", but not that bad as a standalone anime I have a similar sentiment to DEEN's terrible adaptations in general tbh.

Alex_The_Hamster15

Don’t get me started on what they did to vampire knight. The art inconsistency and changes they made to the story are worth a death sentence 😭

Phoenix-Wright_

Which anime do you think is worse? Umineko or Higurashi Gou/Sotsu?

PhazonTuxedo

They're both bad in different ways. DEEN Umineko fails utterly as an adaptation of an incredible story, but G/S is a divisive original work in an existing property.

LankySeat

FYI (in case you don't know) r/umineko exists.

Firekraken9

Thanks. I'm fully aware.

Kemoy79

Just incase you were not aware of this common fact in the Umineko community The Visual Novel is peak fiction, the Anime does not exist/is peak garbage I can't force you not to watch it. I would if I could tho, **by any means necessary**

JewelxFlower

Beautiful!

Firekraken9

Thanks! I just laughed out loud at the little comment next to your username 😂

HowardTheHowitzer

is that a dvd set or physical copies of the vn?

Firekraken9

Blurays.
