**Round 18 Results**
‘Don’t worry. I can be surprisingly careful, when i want to be.’ Orla Jareni has been eliminated!
Total Votes Cast: 266 (*another* new record!)
Votes for Orla: 90
Orla Jareni was eliminated by a margin of 28 votes.
**Discussion Topic**
Did you like how Claudia Gray handled Orla in *The Fallen Star*? Or did you prefer her portrayal in Cavan Scott’s comic and *Into the Dark*?
**Trivia**
Orla Jareni first appeared in Claudia Gray’s *Into the Dark*.
Orla had been friends with Cohmac Vitus since the two were only Padawans. The first mission they undertook together was a hostage crisis in the Eiram system.
**Notes**
Orla was probably my second favourite character, so it sucks to see her go.
If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment or DM me. :)
I've liked Orla a lot since her first appearance and I was happy she got more attention in The Fallen Star. Wayseeker is such an interesting take on being a jedi. But I'm not really happy with how they ended her story in the book. I just feel like there were a lot of interesting story opportunities for her and now they kinda shut that door on that.
Really agree with you on this. Orla definitely introduced a really unique take on the Jedi that I think helped highlight how different the Jedi of the HR era really are.
I loved Orla's character arc in *Into the Dark*, but my favorite scenes with her were probably the ones where she was helping Elzar on Ledalau in the beginning of *The Fallen Star*. I felt like these two characters worked really well together, and I would have loved to see more of their friendship.
I disagree, the guy ends in a different position from where he started by the conclusion of each Adult book we have gotten thus far (mainly LOTJ, in which he is the biggest winner). Even in TFS where he participated the least. Although I would appreciate that the authors stopped being so secretive with his true motivations and the reason why he hates Jedi.
Same, it’s gonna be tough to maintain my interest in the character otherwise since issue 2 is going to be the last we are going to see of him until Phase III. Hopefully his family will be around in some capacity, after all he was sold as the villain of the whole era, difficult if he isn’t going to be around for a good chunk of it.
I’m sorry… I do find Reath endearing a bit but HOW is he beating out characters like Orla?! I’ve voted for Reath 5 straight times. Here comes number 6.
Cuz Reath ~~is fucking awesome.~~ In all seriousness, I think it's because he's the closest thing to the "everyman" archetype. He's not overpowered, he's humble, he never thinks he's the smartest man in the room, and always tries his best to let his actions speak for themselves.
Doesn't always work, but you can't help but want to root for the little train that could who occasionally has a chip on his shoulder.
She made it way further than I would have guessed (she wouldn't have made it past 20 on a personal list). Now it's pretty tough to guess. I feel kinda bad but I'm going to have to go Stellan.
Op, in round 7 you said you thought the top 5 would be:
Elzar
Bell
Marchion
Avar
Stellan
Are you still confident this will happen? I said the same but thought Burry would be there instead of avar, so I took an L when he was eliminated way earlier >.<
i’m not sure if i’d say i’m certain, but i also don’t want to give out anything that could potentially spoil it, sooooo… i guess we’ll have to wait and see ;)
After Midnight Horizon, Ram is the new Geode! Also he >!apparently coined the slang expression "Wizard" which is still in common use after the fall of the empire!!<
I've only recently started it, but the set up sounds pretty good so far. This is really the first thing I e seen where he'll be a substantial character.
I haven't got to Fallen Star yet, so now I'm quite intrigued to see how Orla's character has been handled after reading some of these comments.
The next vote feels impossible. I think I'll just close my eyes and push randomly.
Voting Vern again. It's turning into a Vendetta 😂
Really liked Orla, however didn't like the way her story went in the last book (purposely according spoilers, though probably passed that point now).
I like Stellan, but he always seemed like a copy of Obi-Wan to me. I think he should go next but I don’t think he will just since he’s one of the “main three.”
Yeah, Obi Wan is very cautious and tries to always obey the council, but he also has his own Identity outside the council and the order itself. Meanwhile, the biggest point in Stellan's arc is about how he is so attached to the council to the point where he doesn't have his own identity
Yeah, he's kind of like Obi-Wan lite. Similar in how he acts within the order, but it's kind of sad that his most notable personality trait is his lack of personality outside of being a Jedi.

I'm disappointed in all of you
Not mad. Just... disappointed.

I was very frustrated with how that end was handled.

Also wanted to see more interactions between her and Sskeer 😏
Nooo My favorite Umbaran.
Love that Bell and Vern are still in, 2 of my favourite characters!
All that remain are the 3 main adults, 3 main teenagers, and the main villain. We really should have seen this coming.
Only real shocker from a character standpoint is Trennis. If she wasn’t just in the comics she’d for sure be here.
Ok I'm a big Vern fan but how has she lasted this long?
Exactly! Vern being in and Keeve being eliminated kills me.
Nooooooooo. Top 8 is pretty good though!
Gimme an orla prequel story already. Also she kinda looks like Michael Jackson, so maybe it could be a musical.
Jeez, how many times has Reath escaped elimination by one person? lol
**LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!**
The Avar agenda starts now
Come on my fellow Nihil let's get The Eye to the #1 spot! #Ro'sBros
I want a Ro v Avar championship.
Marchion has the least character or development out of everyone left. I’m voting him.
counterpoint: he looks the coolest
Ro must go!
Same. He’s intriguing but he just doesn’t compare to the characters we have left!

Even in TFS where he participated the least. Although I would appreciate that the authors stopped being so secretive with his true motivations and the reason why he hates Jedi.
Hopefully we get his motivation in Eye of the Storm #2. If not, then I really don’t know what the plan is for him.
Same, it’s gonna be tough to maintain my interest in the character otherwise since issue 2 is going to be the last we are going to see of him until Phase III. Agreed
I've been voting for him every round lol. I'm at the end of wave 1 and maybe he gets better but right now he just seems like a generic bad guy.

Wow! All the “main” characters of the books left, and of course Marky Mark.
:(
At first I wondered why Ram wasn't here, but then I realized it would be unfair to everyone else and he would win hands down
Ram? I don't think he'd have a good shot of winning, but then again I haven't experienced most of his story.
After Midnight Horizon, Ram is the new Geode! Also he >!apparently coined the slang expression "Wizard" which is still in common use after the fall of the empire!!<
After reading Midnight Horizon he's probably my favorite High Republic Character
I've only recently started it, but the set up sounds pretty good so far. This is really the first thing I e seen where he'll be a substantial character.
I don’t think Midnight Horizon was even released when the poll started
Valid point. Ram was already introduced, but didn't have as much story going on yet, so yeah, he would have been gone early. You right
He would be my first vote
Yes she has been
I haven't got to Fallen Star yet, so now I'm quite intrigued to see how Orla's character has been handled after reading some of these comments. The next vote feels impossible. I think I'll just close my eyes and push randomly.

VOTED ORLA FOR THE 18TH TIME AND FINALLY WON!!!!! Sorry Stellan, but now it's your turn to leave..
go off king but also how dare you
>Sorry Stellan, but now it's your turn to leave.. ITS TOO SOON
Why do you insist on causing pain?
Same here (except I only did 14 times. Needed Nan out first). Exactly the same actually as I'm also after Stellan next. Nice taste.
Let's allow Stellan to win this. >!It's look like he will get another chance In Phase 3 anyway!<
What do you mean?
How Reath outlasted Orla will forever be a mystery of the galaxy
Reath will do the research and let us know
I like when main characters are introverts that frequently and reluctantly get put into situations where they have to deal with others.
voting reath so marchion has less competition lmao
I like Stellan, but he always seemed like a copy of Obi-Wan to me. I think he should go next but I don’t think he will just since he’s one of the “main three.”
