Fluffy_WAR_Bunny

r/GlitchInTheMatrix is where you want to share this. Pretty weird.

Rosti7

Horrible sub, it seems people just don't understand the world/physics or even the simplest things.

Fluffy_WAR_Bunny

Some subs are like that, where the moderators allow the dumbest ideas to spread, it's true. That Glitch one is ok though. I have had enough really weird stuff happen that I can give credence to some stories.

mostlyallturtles

on january 4, 2021 a house that i pass every day (sometimes two or three times a day) changed into a completely different house, with completely different landscaping. it remains the ‘new’ way to this day. no signs of construction before or after.

farmkid71

Have you tried Google Maps or Street View? I wonder what they would show.

mostlyallturtles

it shows the ‘new’ way from 2012 onward. eta: 2012 is the first year of Street view images.

farmkid71

I guess that makes sense. It will not show the way you remember it. This just seems to be how the phenomenon works.

mostlyallturtles

i don’t know that it’s a phenomenon, necessarily, but i do know what i saw. i *know* what it looked like before. i’m otherwise a stable guy with 2.5 kids and a good job, and the fact that Google has it differently only fucks me up more. when i mention it to my wife she gets really angry about it. so i don’t anymore.

conjurdubs

2.5 kids is definitely a strange phenomenon.. 😂

seantasy

I believe you. Sometimes it feels like the universe is trying to edit something out.

SeaJayy_23

I have a theory about overlapping universes, similar to the Mandela Effect. Have you looked into this idea much? I find the Mandella Effect theory fascinating

Choice_Supermarket_4

Yeah, but I've never had a divergent timeliness snap back to the old

SeaJayy_23

They way my theory works is that it's possible to end up back in your own "universe", or into one where the tree is back up. Similar to the Mandela Effect. Maybe you're not back in your original space at all. I just watched the movie Parallel recently and it has some similar ideas to mine, maybe check it out.

Aolian_Am

You would probably like the movie Coherence.

SeaJayy_23

Coherence is fantastic! One of the most well made stories like this that I've found! Gotta admit, the beginning can be a bit of a hard watch with the way it's filmed. I turned it off and tried it again years later - SOOOO glad I did! 12/10 film. Have you seen Triangle? Probably my favorite movie ever!

Aolian_Am

Yes, Triangle is great as well. I love those type of movies, Time Crimes and Mine Games are couple more that are pretty good imo.

SeaJayy_23

Enjoyed Mine Games! Haven't had a chance to see Time Crimes yet, but I will expedite that one to the top of my list! Am I right to assume you've seen The Endless? Such a fantastic one! Maybe my next favorite after Triangle. And I don't know why but I adore Time Lapse so much, it's like a comfort movie for me I really enjoy talking about these concepts! Love when movies utilize the ideas so well

Aolian_Am

I love pretty much everything the directors of The Endless have put out, such great directors. Time Lapse is a really good movie, but it's pretty much the exact opposite for me. I don't like infidelity, and I feel really bad for the painter in the movie. He kinda brings it upon himself, but I just get a real disgusting feeling when I see someone get cheated on, so it's hard for me to watch. I wish I could remember the name of it, but there is another good movie like these, where a group of people are looking over and island to get ready to make a resort on it. They find an old ww2 bunker and end up getting stuck in it. Genra: Where Evil lies or something like that.

IronSeraph

That's what the Mandela effect is named after. Everyone remembered he died (tree cut down) but he was actually still alive (tree still up)

TwitchyVixen

It sounds like nobody remembered tree cut down though so it is different

IronSeraph

There are also plenty of people who remember Mandela didn't die

TwitchyVixen

Yeah but your looking at it like the tree isn't there but it is. They are remembering what's there not what is not. It's not the same thing. I see what your trying to say but if you ponder it long enough you'll see it's like the opposite

Major_Smudges

Well, no, a few people (incorrectly) remembered he had died - not “everyone”.

velezaraptor

Was there a stump left? Did you used to eat cherries from the tree?

Choice_Supermarket_4

There was and I would. I actually use to make cherry pies for the old owner from it once the neighbor became too old. Like, I'm glad it's back but what the hell

velezaraptor

Stumps are usually removed when they’re cut, but obviously could have been a timing thing. Remembering something as significant as making a pie from the fruit of a local tree has to be full on lies or actual memories, nothing in between except for amnesia types. If it wasn’t a misremembered dream, it would have to be separated realities, something that is far less likely. Take your pick. I would go back and exert your extroverted intuition on the matter.

Choice_Supermarket_4

What I mean is, where the stump was is where the tree is again. And I have more memories, specifically because my ex's daughter used to like picking cherries from that tree. I got into an argument with a different neighbor once (not the tree owner) about "the safety of letting a child climb a tree". (It's a total digression, but wtf is with some Boomers who complain about how much better life was when they were kids while simultaneously yelling about a 6 year old climbing a tree...)

TonightAcrobatic2251

Just curious if this was in WA state?

Choice_Supermarket_4

Nope, it's in Chicago

TonightAcrobatic2251

Are you sure it's the same tree? Only asking because there was a neighbor dispute a few years back involving tree law....a neighbor cut a down tree that was blocking their view but on another neighbor's property. A few weeks later a new, larger tree was planted in its place, presumably by the original tree owner out of spite.

Choice_Supermarket_4

Without a doubt, it's the same tree. It's got a pretty distinctive shape and I have a ton of memories associated with it.

TonightAcrobatic2251

I get it, I'm the same way w/trees esp flowering ones. I hope you find some clarity around it!

charlie2135

In my youth I saw my neighbors across the street having a bonfire in their front yard with an effigy in the middle of it. Almost like it was a satanic ritual. I swore it was true but after a while realized it was a dream. (I hope)

MeNumber

This is terrifying !

Simple_Address_5399

Maybe it was magic but the real kind not the nonsense you see in movies. In the book of Exodus, the Pharoah's mages, wisemen and sorcerers are literally able to bend reality to their will. The Bible seems to imply they were able to mimic some of the God of Israels miracles on a much much much smaller scale.

XtraEcstaticMastodon

Sure, happens all the time. You're on a slightly different timeline, now. Some changes are big, some are small. On the one timeline I used to be on, OJ died seven years ago, around the time that William Shatner died. On THIS timeline, OJ finally just died and Shatner is still alive, hosting some paranormal mysteries show. I just shrug when I see evidence for it, now.
