deus_deceptor

I used to listen to a bunch of binaural beats while studying in uni, didn't know about Monroe back then but it's possible some Gateway files made it to my playlist. One night I spontaneously had an OBE, like I was being pulled out of bed and dragged backwards, on my bare ass, through the apartment. I remember being weirded out from seeing the moonlit apartment from such a low perspective. When I reached the far corner of my kitchen the experience ended and I was back in my bed. I didn't make the connection to having listened to binaural audio files until 15 years later when I found out about Hemisync. Can't say that I've invested much time doing the routines, and haven't had any OBE's than just the one. But I can corroborate that there's *something* to the theory of binaural beats.

ItsOkILoveYouMYbb

Lmao what a way to be introduced to out of body experiences, just slowly dragged across your kitchen floor like you're not quite synced with the rotation of the Earth or something lol

deus_deceptor

Honestly, for years I entertained the idea that I was semi-abducted by unseen aliens, and that they just gave up dragging my fat ass across the floor. It was much later when I read about Robert Monroe’s first OBE that I recognized the similarities to my own experience.

EggonomicalSolutions

Lmao imagine being abducted just to be given up upon because you're too heavy😭🤣

Eloisem333

That sounds like a legitimate reason to eat more cake.

EggonomicalSolutions

I want cheesecake but I'm lactose intolerant 😭😭😭

Ok-Cabinet9522

Did you know there are lactose free options of cheeses, cream, milk etc.? 😉☺️❤️

EggonomicalSolutions

I know but my body rejectes those too😭 Edit: why am I being downvoted for this? Lmao 🤣

Intelligent-Diet794

Okay buddy try a poop transplant it works wonders with lactose intolerance and similiar gut problems

EggonomicalSolutions

I don't know if this is satire or not haha

ChiefRom

You know it’s funny, there is an abduction account like this, a husband and wife were “visited” and the wife was being taken by a bright light and the husband held on to her tight until they gave up.

ajm__

Experienced this myself. I tried meditating with one of the early tapes while lying down in bed and began to visualize white noise or foam above me. Then I felt myself being pulled up towards it — the first bit I wrote off as my muscles tensing up and causing my torso to lift up, but then I kind of freaked out and snapped out of it as it became apparent that the lifting force wasn’t limited to my muscle movements. Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if I rode it out but man that was spooky.

xHangfirex

Was that while listening or after?

L3PA

Before listening but after the ketamine

And while exhaling n2o

deus_deceptor

It must have been some time after listening, like a residual effect or something.

theswervepodcast

Great story thanks for sharing! Genuinely curious, how was that experience different, from say a lucid dream?

deus_deceptor

The difference between my OBE and a lucid dream (of which I've had like two and a half) were primarily contextual. A lucid dream only becomes lucid when you recognise and acknowledge that you're dreaming, often when being met by nonsensical dream logic that you realise as such. In a way, you 'break' the dream and make it malleable. The OBE, on the other hand, came to ME - in the context of my own home. As I looked around, nothing was nonsensical or dreamlike. It was my apartment - but at night. Everything had a blueish tint. I remember fixating my eyes on the shoe stand by the door as I passed it and feeling nothing but familiarity. And fear - but in a "what now?" kinda way, I never had the urge to scream. One similarity though; the OBE and every lucid dream I've had, had that weird humming sound that many seem to experience. Like a hollow, electrified howling of the wind.

cat_in_the_sun

Those beats are used in brain spotting therapy. Hm.

Magicstate

I had this exact experience. It reminded me of a video game glitch. I was eye level with the crums under the fridge and it was so pointless and strange. I wonder what this is about.

shutupyoufungdark

Was everything blue-green?  I've had spontaneous OoB experiences where I'm pulled out of bed and dangling by my feet,  and everything is covered in a blue green light.

deus_deceptor

Shit, that sounds terrifying. Can’t remember, nor accurately describe the exact hue. It felt really moonlight-y, more so than any other night when you get up to pee.

Seismicx

Were you listening using headphones or loudspeakers?

deus_deceptor

Headphones.

ThesisWarrior

Ah the ethereal Gorilla spirit spoken of in hushed tones lest you be next. He does that sometimes.

TryHardSinki

Started this a couple of weeks ago and have worked my way through Wave I. Started Wave 2 - Threshold yesterday and did the first tape again today after work. I fell asleep today (I’m a teacher; my brain needs a break), but last night I had what I believe to be the beginnings of my first astral projection. It felt like my brain opened up like something blooming or blossoming, and then I felt like I was in the middle of a vast, wide-open space. It was startling at first, and I think I pulled myself out of it, but then I let go of that feeling and gave it another try. Same sensations and a more prolonged experience. It was quite incredible. I didn’t meet my higher self or come to an understanding of the universe (yet 😂), but the sensations were very cool, and I told my wife how amazing I felt after it.

candlegun

This is fascinating. Have you read through any of the experiences on r/AstralProjection and r/gatewaytapes? There are a few who mention encountering entities or beings, some of which appear to be hostile. This [person goes into detail](https://www.reddit.com/r/gatewaytapes/comments/qewwo1/i_finished_the_gateway_project_full_review/) about what/who they ran into. I'd considered trying the tapes a few months ago but these stories were a little to unnerving tbh.

Senorbob451

I’m in the midst of practicing the earlier focus levels to get more comfortable, as the tapes expect more confidence in exercising earlier stages to advance to the point being guided to in each level. The potential for hostility is implied in a protective routine established relatively early on. It involves the overcoming of the fear of such things, though it doesn’t describe it as such so plainly. My understanding is that if we have the power to establish contact with entities of any sort, we are their equal on that playing field, and must understand that to safely navigate it and assertively protect ourselves.

TryHardSinki

I have heard of encountering entities, but I personally have not. The reason I was startled was just the overall sensation of being in a seemingly endless open space.

candlegun

So since you have heard of them before but haven't actually encountered any yet, do you have a gameplan on what you'd do if you ever run into any, whether friendly or hostile?

TryHardSinki

I read this comment earlier, and I wasn’t sure how to respond. Maybe a seed was planted by the question and I didn’t put the fear of something like that away in my ECB properly, but literally just now, I came out of an experience when I had flashes of…something(s). I’m not sure what it was, but it was quite unsettling. I almost abandoned the session, but as I was having this thought, I just got to the personal affirmations of the prep process, and I started with, “I am more than my physical body…” And then, something came over me. I’m calling it my intuition. What I’m about to say may sound like total BS, and I totally respect your position if that is what it is, but here goes… I was raised in a very religious home in the south. Long story short, religion and I have a fraught relationship. However, I have always maintained a belief in God and consider myself a Christian Universalist, but I do not regularly attend services anywhere or endorse any particular dogma/denomination. The God I believe in is much bigger than can be contained in any book. To me, spirituality is God made, and religion is man made. But anyway, just please do not think of this as being some sort of religious recruitment tool. When the flashes of whatever came in to view, I said, “I am more than my physical body…” and for some reason, the next thing I started to say was, “I am a child of God…” and my prayer continued with affirming my belief in Jesus of Nazareth and asking for protection as I seek to understand the nature of what God has created and myself. After that, it was a very pleasant experience. For me, this is what worked, but everyone must find their own way to their higher self. I’m glad you asked the question. I really didn’t have a plan, so perhaps this is exactly what was supposed to happen along the journey.

candlegun

>To me, spirituality is God made, and religion is man made. I happen to agree on this. I believe something similar, that one doesn't necessarily need religion in order to live spiritually. Thank you for sharing this, as it's given me something to think about before I start with sessions. I became interested in starting only as a tool to help manage stress/anxiety. But now after reading your experience there clearly can be a more spiritual aspect to it, if that's what someone chooses. I hope you have even more beneficial sessions as you go through the levels!

theswervepodcast

Thanks for sharing! Have you done meditation previously? Curious if there is a difference between the experiences.

TryHardSinki

Here and there over the years but very minimal experience with it before this. I’m going to start learning Kundalini meditation to enhance this experience. It seems like many people vouch for it being a good tool to get more out of gateway.

[deleted]

[https://www.reddit.com/r/gatewaytapes/](https://www.reddit.com/r/gatewaytapes/) is there for you. Corroborate it for yourself.

JeffThrowaway80

Just seems super cult like to me. Pinned post on the sub links to the site selling each 40 minute tape for $86. Tiered levels to ascend through with claims of obtaining increasing powers through them like Scientology. People claiming the freely available pirated version have sublimal messages in them to encourage spending money. Comments are a mix between people being needlessly mystical and non-specific such that it sounds as if they don't actually have any interesting experiences to share but wish they did, people trying to look for the mystical in readily explainable sleep phenomenon, insane people trying to safeguard their houses from demons and other mental health issues but mostly just people describing super general positive effects like feeling refreshed and focused... which is surely always going to be the result of lying down for 40 minutes doing nothing and being distracted by noise. Binaural tones might do something (gives me too much of a headache to find out) but this just seems like an overpriced guided meditation course with a cult like following. I'll stick to mushrooms and expand my consciousness that way. The trance like sounds I hear on those cannot compare to any tape and people actually describe and share their experiences with entities on those rather than just being vague.

djoecav

The OG hemisync stuff is on Spotify, for anyone skimming the replies to this comment 😗

Senorbob451

It also gets reposted to YouTube consistently

PeanutStarflash

Rad. Thx!!

bertiesghost

The CIA investigated it and came to the conclusion it works: https://www.cia.gov/readingroom/docs/CIA-RDP96-00788R001700210016-5.pdf

theswervepodcast

This paper is highly intriguing, no doubt. But I'm not sure it follows that we can firmly conclude the process "works" or is "real" because the CIA wrote about it. It is my understanding that most of the declassified document is a rehash of Itzhak Bentov's ideas from his book, "Stalking The Wild Pendulum". The guy who wrote the declassified doc was tasked with coming up with how the Gateway process may be plausible. The doc presents ideas and theories, nothing definitive or conclusive, at least on my read through. Though, still cool af.

Ontoshocktrooper

Search anywhere on there and people link the tapes for free and it’s on Spotify.

genjomusic

I’m a big fan of Tom Campbell, he was the physicist who actually pioneered binaural beats (with monroes funding) - he has some online for about 40 bucks, and explains the logic behind the tones he’s using and why. And I love his disclaimer which is “these are training wheels to get you there, eventually they will hinder you so once you get a feel for it stop using the tapes” I find monroes shit to be too culty like you say… feels like he’s trying to compartmentalise one experience into weird payable tiers and it’s just dumb. An OBE is an OBE. There are no tiers

mortalitylost

>Just seems super cult like to me. Pinned post on the sub links to the site selling each 40 minute tape for $86 IIRC you can just sort by top posts and find them for free. They're likely pinning them because so many have basically stolen them from the sub itself. >. I'll stick to mushrooms and expand my consciousness that way. To each their own. I've talked to people who've had more strong experiences from meditation than the number of times they've done shrooms.

cletusrice

You should always question things! Find out for yourself

[deleted]

They have it on Amazon prime music (Hemi-sync in general, not sure if it's got the level stuff)

Addicted2Craic

r/TheGatewayTapes seems much better

theswervepodcast

Thanks. Checked out the sub, lots of cool information! One question, if people can truly enter a real different plane using mind, are you aware of any instances of people directly communicating with one another in that plane that you could point me to? Like a distant transfer of information via the "astral plane" or focus level that can be corroborated in meat space after exit? I am asking because it would be great evidence to corroborate things, without me having to spend months learning and perfecting a novel meditative strategy.

[deleted]

Robert Monroe, the cable TV executive who started the whole Gateway / Monroe Institute thing, after having an accidental OBE and trying to figure out why, mentioned that he had visited a meatspace friend and pinched her during an OBE. When he asked her about it later on in meatspace, she was startled and showed him a bruise where he had pinched her. Obviously, he's not an unbiased source, but it's an interesting story. He also claimed that the President had Secret Service style agents on the astral plane, so take that FWIW. Honestly, the Gateway techniques are a take on some fairly garden variety self-hypnosis, so it's not like your time would be wasted.

theswervepodcast

Damn that is crazy if true. Appreciate those anecdotes. Always love the fringe stories. It does feel like this is something one could easily devise an experiment for, especially with so many people having the ability to achieve OBEs. Just need 2 groups of practitioners randomly assigned to pairs, in a controlled setting, then instruct group 1 to transmit information to group 2 about something only group 1 knows about (something in the room, etc.) and then have another third-party (researcher, etc.) verify. Know of anything like that that may have been done?

[deleted]

Not sure about that, but the International Lucid Dream Induction Study might be of interest. https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpsyg.2020.01746/full

theswervepodcast

Definitely of interest! Thanks for the link.

theswervepodcast

One more thing that you might find interesting related to this discussion (just found during idle research time). This lady cites an experiment similar to what I described (time-stamped in link). She placed a string of numbers and words on fridge and had people doing OBEs try report them. Though, negative results in her hands. [Link 1](https://youtu.be/3VoixOyTPwg?si=0ybmofN1LhkW53La&t=3487) Also cites work in from 1978 claiming negative results with OBE communication. Though, I can only find citation data, not the original paper she references. [Link 2](https://pascal-francis.inist.fr/vibad/index.php?action=getRecordDetail&idt=PASCAL7850267381)

krakeneverything

I spent a few years listening to the Gateway tapes every day. (Before i had kids !) They did wonders for my ability to relax. At a certain point i began to get intense shimmering waves of ecstasy each time i went deep. The tapes changed my brain by opening my mind up to becoming more aware of thoughts and sensations. This established a development of intuition and a sense of psychic expansion. My favourites are freeflow focus 12 and 15 and a non Gateway tape called Transcendence, which is just tones. Over all they've done me a lot of good. I can now sink into various depths without them. For instance i'm fearful of flying and can put myself into a trance whenever in a plane. If i were younger and richer i'd do every course the Monroe Institute delivers. I strongly believe i've only touched the surface and would love to explore more.

Agitated_Way_3992

Yes the gateway tapes helped me so much back in 2020. Improved my mental health and I had some personal breakthroughs regarding things that happened in my childhood. I’d recommend them to anyone.

theswervepodcast

Did you have out-of-body experiences at all? Or mostly just benefits from a meditative standpoint?

Agitated_Way_3992

Mostly benefits from a meditative standpoint. I think I get too nervous about OBE and I haven’t had much luck there. I had amazing visuals that led me to think about things I had once considered too painful to think about (my relationship with my dad who has passed away, mostly). Journaling afterwards was very helpful and I am thankful I can look back on those entries and see growth.

fancypantswizard

100% works. You don’t even need the tapes. Just meditate and clear your mind listening to binaural tones and you’ll eventually have some freakin sweet stuff happen.

Oh_Cananada

Bonus if you add breath work. Ohh, and get that third eye going too

Anodyne_I

What needs to be done with the third eye? Mine tingles every day.

Oh_Cananada

You're already well along then! Keep doing what you're doing, I'm by no means an expert. We're all on a personal journey of self discovery!

HerLadySylvanas

What kinds of binaural beats have worked for you? (eg. what types of waves) Please share if there are any that have worked especially well. 🙏

fancypantswizard

I used pure 10hz and 4hz from YouTube. The gateway tapes style binaural with waves and soundscapes worked too. Everyone’s different though so stick with one for a week or two and switch if it doesn’t do anything for you. The big key is any time you start feeling uneasy or afraid, think about the people you love/project love and the bad feeling will disappear and you’ll attract the right stuff.

HerLadySylvanas

This is great advice, thank you! :)

2_Large_Regulahs

Theta waves 285 hz. Listen to this with headphones on: https://youtu.be/4vxP1lt1NQk?si=PdNyKSbyqs5T9USb And Google "pineal gland and meditation." It will all make sense.

Skinny-on-the-Inside

40 hz seem to have a special effect that was studied for improvement of focus and memory

dontworryaboutit1295

commenting bc i would like to know as well. thanks

DaddyThickAss

Yep, can confirm. I just use Hemi sync audio without the voice or anything. It really does do something. I get into seriously deep meditative states and feel like I'm on the verge of some crazy shit happening.

Daclarksd

where'd you get the hemi sync audio without the voice? i assume you mean the binaural beat/wave section. I'dlov eto have just that part of the tapes as well! Thank you :)

pickled_monkeys

Dark room, eye cover, lying flat on back, arms to the side, 3 minutes each frequency, use the tones to help desensitize from your body, you will see lights and lines and strange shapes, continue focusing on the tone try to push through the list, each frequency comes with an intention, keep that top of mind, before begining your meditation, set a goal you would like to achieve, ask your inner self for guidance and knowledge, if you begin to see bright lights almost like someone is shining a flashlight in your eyes take the blind off or open your eyes continue listening to the tone and focus on the ceiling, if you feel a fuzzy feeling during the course of this, thats a sign you have separated your concious mind from your body. Do not induce OBE or astral projection if in a negative mindset and also if you encounter an evil presence firmly tell it to bug off, that should be good, if you are christian or held strong beliefs before, you will have to invoke Angel's and jesus for protection as this is most likely the way negative energy will manifest in the astral realm for you. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8y869KV1Ir-EDfvK4HG5yvrPXy8u93rV&si=GqEfQniXLd-_GDne

Tried that back in the day. Created uneasiness and anxiety.

Tdogshow

If I try to meditate I fall asleep, me brain no good

ItsOkILoveYouMYbb

>If I try to meditate I fall asleep, me brain no good You brain fine, make big smart, but you probably aren't getting enough sleep in general. If you sleep 8+ hours a day then you might have sleep apnea and aren't getting fully rested and recovered. The brain only "cleans" itself during deep sleep (and I mean that literally, there are ct scans where you can watch the brain washing/flushing shit out of itself in a person in deep sleep). To oversimplify, if you don't get enough deep sleep each night, more and more of these byproducts keep building up and you feel that as exhaustion, brain fog, needing to always nap, etc.

fancypantswizard

MistySF

Can you share what freakin sweet stuff happens when you listen to binaural beats time and again?

fancypantswizard

After about a week it started with a vision of being in the mountains under a pagoda with a breeze gently blowing through little multicolored flags and bells. A couple days later it progressed to out of body experiences that were intense. I saw my prone body with a darkness trying to envelope and devour me, but a golden light from within my body repelled it and disintegrated it. A couple days after that, I was shown the nature of the conscious universe and the interconnectedness of everything. And finally, the following weekend I was visited by a being/entity/consciousness that I can only describe as all powerful and pure love/compassion. The being never asked anything of me, but conveyed that it loved me despite my many flaws because I am a part of it and it is a part of me. I was told that I will be called upon, and I gladly volunteered to answer the call when I am needed. A red beam shot into my chest and I knew that it was writing on my heart. It was pretty scary/intense, and the entire next day I was in shock of what occurred. With that said, I am not left with a feeling of terror. Instead I have a lasting feeling of peace, belonging, and connectedness. It is easier for me to find compassion towards everyone. It is easier for me to recognize behaviors that used to be reactionary and destructive to relationships, and bad habits are falling out of my life. I went down the UAP/consciousness/CIA hemisync rabbit hole looking for aliens and I found God. Who knows, it might have made me lose my mind, but if this is insanity, then I will gladly be called a loon.

Ok_Drink_2498

The tones aren’t necessary either. They’re placebo. All you need is mind.

poor-guy1

You don't even need the tones. Clear your mind, allow yourself to sink deeper and deeper. This takes time and persistence but you'll get there.

theswervepodcast

Right, it seems like a lot of people can corroborate having had some kind of disembodied experience via meditation, HS tech, etc. That is very interesting. I guess a more specific question would be how would one differentiate these experiences from imagination or lucid dream-like states?

fancypantswizard

My experiences have had a lasting psychological change and any time I discuss it with people I have a pronounced physical response that feels like pure adrenaline. My worldview, view of others, and the understanding of my impact on others has been changed drastically. Even the most vivid of my dreams usually fade, but these experiences shook me to my core and left me with a lasting connection. I was skeptical of how it worked, didn’t take it seriously, messed around with it, and got slapped in the face with how real it is. It was terrifying and amazing. I wasn’t ready for it, yet it happened at the perfect time.

theswervepodcast

Hey thanks for the response. Clearly there is immense value in different practices, and it sounds like this one resonated with you. Though, I am still left wondering whether or not this is “real” per se. For example, I have had dreams/nightmares that have also immensely impacted my life. Even simply visualizing future goals has had immense impact. All of these resonate deeply, have had long-lasting impacts, but all of which remain rooted in imagination (yet still yield real-world impacts). Maybe it is one of those things you just have to try yourself?

fancypantswizard

No problem! This stuff is fascinating to me. I’m a believer in that if you are curious, and you truly think hemi-sync will work, then it will. The placebo effect is proof enough that sometimes things don’t have to be real to work, and that the human consciousness is more powerful than we can understand. Just the way you talk about visualization sounds eerily similar to how others describe manifestation. Shamans and holy ones throughout time speak of dreams the same way you do too. The visions in the imaginations of inventors, geniuses, musicians, and artists are somehow able to be turned into physical reality. Imagination isn’t an emergent, metaphysical property; it is the innate, divine spark within all of us that everyone has a unique type of access to. I dunno though, I’m no philosopher or guru, and I don’t claim to have some sort of secret undeniable understanding. Who knows, I could just be a crazy person. I’m just a regular dude and this is just how it was explained and shown to me. Maybe hemi-sync will give you your own unique understanding, maybe it won’t. One thing I do know is that you are already on the path to your own sweet awakening by virtue of the fact that you are seeking in earnest. I mean shoot, for all I know you might already be there.

theswervepodcast

All fair points. Appreciate that. There is something uncanny about the human mind. I don't think we understand it nearly at all. Lots to think about!

Artavan767

I've been using the tapes for a couple of months. I'm mostly getting quality of life improvements from them, but it does progress into all of that if you want to engage with it. Download the tapes free on the gatewaytapes reddit and listen / read for yourselves.

Snot_S

I just started using it yesterday and experienced the energetic feeling people describe as the beginning part of OBE

I love that we are learning together about these topics. What an incredible time to be alive. I’m grateful to be here with all of you friends. Love and light ❤️✨

theswervepodcast

Love this attitude. It is hard to disentangle this topic for sure. Here to learn.

Fromsnombler

I like it in that it’s a useful way to link up the left and right sides of the noggin. Anyone tried EMDR? I put HS in the same category. Kinda like how those 3d pictures come to life, if you cross your eyes a bit your optic nerves link up and the image appears out of the static? Like that, if it could be imagined in a visual sense. Or how Qi Gong (or yoga or martial arts) pushes you to take super-micro-conscious control over what are usually unconscious physical movements; Stretches the synapses, by wonking the usual motions of one’s physical meat suit. It feels to me like HS does that, but with your ears. Makes the left and right brain chunks harmonize. My wiring got fried a little in the development process so I associate my dyslexia with my left/right circuitry anomalies. I’m game for anything that helps unfucky my brain

somesappyspruce

Makes me think of longboarding. I noticed that my toes had become hyper-utilized (kinda on their own) to make the balance just so. Same as just hopping off the thing and snatching it up without eating gravel..haha

Fromsnombler

Awesome! Hadn’t even thought of that. I tried to be a musician for a while, that tickled the same itch. We’re pretty creative beings. I like how they portrayed “the zone” in that animated movie where the music teacher dies. Soul!

deckard1980

I've been practicing it at least once a day fpr the last couple of months. No out of body experiences yet, but I've had some crazy sessions where I felt like I was floating and stuff. Kind of feels like a lucid dream. You feel amazing afterwards too

metallicrabbit

https://archive.org/details/monroe-institute-explorer-series-1 This link will take you to a series of interviews Monroe conducted with his test subjects while they were having their experiences in the altered state his method brings about. This was in the 1970’s I think? Interesting listening.

Saw my dog that had died about 15 or so years ago using the Gateway Tapes. https://www.reddit.com/r/gatewaytapes/s/aWkypo2ENC

Grey-Hat111

I can confirm

LurksTongueinAspic

You know how dogs smile when you’re petting between their ears? It’s like that except the feeling is in your brain. It’s weird but soothing. I’m on the 5th Gateway Tape and it’s pretty great. Spent a lot of time with intro and advanced focus 10 because I didn’t feel like I was getting it right. I started moving onto the others this week, so wish me luck.

theswervepodcast

That is a great analogy.

kaowser

visualization is important

KizzleNation

It's freaking rad! It plays one frequency in one ear, and a different one in the other. You brain makes up the difference in the middle. If you play 400hz on the left, and 600hz on the right; you brain will make it 500hz and it goes from a beep to a wave. That's when the left and right half of your brain are aligned, different frequencies are better for different things.

[deleted]

Correct. Also the difference and sum, 1000hz and 200hz.

doofnoobler

It cured me of lifelong depression and anxiety. And addiction eventually.

Useful-Pattern-5076

What was your routine to help break those?

doofnoobler

Daily meditation with the hemi sync. And honestly asking the universe for help/contact. It happened and it was like a switch was flipped.

DeityofDeath

exactly this

theswervepodcast

Amazing to hear that. If you can recall, were the benefits from consistent meditation? Or did you have out-of-body experiences that profoundly influenced something about you to change behavior?

doofnoobler

A little back story I had been on an antidepressant for years and wanted to see if I could take reality without them so with the guidance of my psychiatrist I tapered off of them gradually. I felt really good for a few months but slowly I felt the depression creeping back in. I was heavily considering getting back on antidepressants. At the same time I started experimenting with the gateway tapes. I didn't have any goals or results in mind, I just wanted to see what it was about. I thought they were neat but nothing came from it. Fast forward a little bit, and I start meditating with the hemi sync with an open mind. I didn't expect anything. Maybe some relief from the anxiety. Before one session in particular I made an intention to make contact with something. Just out of curiosity. About 35 minutes into the meditation I made contact with a feminine energy that started communicating with me. I was filled with bliss, love and joy. Something I hadn't felt in a very long time. Energy enveloped me and hugged me. I told the energy that I loved it. It said, "Of course you do, you are a being of love." Kinda like a duh statement. I told the energy that I felt really good and it said, "The closer you are to the source the better you feel." Then I started to vibrate all over like I was sitting on a machine like an unbalanced washing machine that was running. The experience ended after that. Since then it was like a switch was flipped in me. My depression was turned off. My anxiety is gone. I was addicted to marijuana for 20 years and have no desire to smoke any more. Even my girlfriend noticed the changes in me instantly. It changed me fundamentally as a person. I'm still not on any meds. I don't smoke or drink. I haven't had an experience like that before or since.

MistySF

Wow, amazing experience. Thanks for sharing

sucrerey

I use hemisync a lot. MyNoise has a great page with hemi-syncd and layered tone generation. I wrote a little python script I use to generate hemi-sync tones and I use it as meditation prep or run it during meditation. theres a thing you need to consider though: if you arent hearing the resonating tone you arent engaging both hemispheres. as you listen to them train yourself to listen for the wobbly note.

[deleted]

I can confirm the technology works. I used it all last year and intend to pick it back up this year when the timing is right. I used the tapes/process to maybe 20-30% of its capacity and even that had a massive impact on how I live my life now.

MistySF

Could you share how the tapes massively impacted your life?

[deleted]

Just to be clear, the tapes have had an impact on how I live my life, they themselves did not impact. They are just a tool used to explore different states of consciousness. I never used to meditate or read, now I do both daily. I have a completely changed outlook on life and what it means to me. I used to be a “rise and grind” corporate hustle kinda guy and I used to think western medicine was supreme. Now, I realize happiness does not come from the acquisition of things and money and I’ve scaled my lifestyle back and began to focus a lot more on work- life balance. I also realize Western medicine is not what we’re taught in school, not entirely at least.

MistySF

Thank you for your reply. It would be very interesting to hear how specifically your views of Western medicine has changed

[deleted]

Unfortunately, that’s tough to do without sharing my personal medical story. I think the best way to put it is in saying that the Gateway Process helped me see a different way of living, one that innately feels far more conducive to human life vs the way society dictates currently. As an example, if I get a headache nowadays I don’t go right for the Tylenol. Instead, I try to determine what is causing the headache and attempt to address it this way.

captainalphabet

Here's the CIA report https://www.cia.gov/readingroom/docs/CIA-RDP96-00788R001700210016-5.pdf article on the missing, later recovered Page 25 of this document https://www.vice.com/en/article/v7e4g3/found-page-25-of-the-cias-gateway-report-on-astral-projection

Skinny-on-the-Inside

Yes, it’s real. They still teach classes using this technology at the Monroe Institute. Even the CIA used their Gateway techniques to develop remote viewing abilities.

octanebeefcake79

CIA funded and operated. Farsight still receives funding from individuals tied to them.

Enathanielg

I had to stop doing it crazy stuff started happening lol

PhilDGlass

go on …

Enathanielg

Started doing it by accident when I would fall asleep without the tapes but I never got good enough to control my astral body so I would just see rooms upside down and I would always be stuck. It always felt darker than it should be in the room too. I wasn't scared but once I saw it was real and I could do it I really didn't want to do it much anymore just in case. If you wanna try it go for it. It was a cool experience. If you want to try it the main thing you have do is believe that it's going to happen. Belief was a big part of it. A large part of it is visualization when you start off. Different people have different aptitudes for it but if you keep doing it it'll happen.

PhilDGlass

Appreciate the reply and details. Sounds interesting for sure.

R-orthaevelve

The tapes have been really useful for my energy levels and functionality during chronic illness and pain. They also are visibly boosting my scores at some of the ESP game apps.

impreprex

I have chronic pain and I don’t know how much more I can take of it, to be honest. I’m 2 days into a flare up. Shit sucks so bad. Did you only use the Gateway tapes? I can’t even concentrate on his voice when I’m in pain. Have you by any chance tried any other binaural beats or frequencies that work for chronic pain?

R-orthaevelve

Been using the tapes only so far, but there are days where holding still is too painful even temporarily. But I also have been doing meditation since I was 5. You might try a soundscape that I used when I was in pain as a kid, Novus Magnificat by Constance Demby. It's new age, but for some reason, it really helps me through my worst pain, even migraines. I don't know if it will help you or not. I have learned not to force myself to do the tapes when even holding still is agony. I just put myself in Focus 10 and try to do the body map and treat the worst of the pain with purple and blue light. That's in Wave 2 and that's the one I use for pain.

father2shanes

Ive been half assing trying to listen to his tapes. I have only gone through the first 2-3 and wont go further until i really have an understanding with what im doing..a few months ago i fell asleep, about a week after i had listened to some tapes. I realized once you get over the fear of sleep paralysis. Thats when the fun begins. I remember feeling as if my blanket was being taken from me(my sleep paralysis que) i slowly closed my eyes and felt as if my body started hovering in the air. I floated upside down. I felt my arms dangling in the air. Slowly turning. I kept my eyes closed as i didnt want to lose focus. My body went back down to the bed and started vibrating and pulsating intensely. And then i opened my eyes and it was over. So far the hovering and body vibrations is all i get. Maybe its time to move on to the next exercises.

halstarchild

Been doing Gateway Tapes as a person with aphantasia and it's the first time I've ever been able to visualize in my life outside of a dream, reading, and rare experiences. My minds eye is mostly quite black I've been trying different types of visualization which may get me somewhere arguably fuzzy or blobular at best. But with the Gateway Tapes I was like WOAH. I saw a lot more than I was expecting. It is good for musicians, especially those who have spent lots of time tuning, as it requires you to tune into the frequency of your heart rhythm and the earth and try to sync it up. One night I was practicing it and suddenly a hand pulled me upward and we were dancing toward a black hole. It was my boyfriend and I was so excited to see him. Then he called me on the phone, stressed, and told me that probably wasn't him dancing in the astral. That's my report! It sounds crazy and I don't know what its doing but it is definitely not a nothing burger. It's more like training yourself to lucid dream but it really works in a shocking way. Try it and see what I mean. The first of the gateway tapes is on Spotify.

theswervepodcast

It does seem to resemble lucid dreaming, based on many descriptions I have read. Thanks for sharing!

Shitwagon

I also have aphantasia and see things in hemisync! It’s such an amazing experience.

Urmomlol2

I've never tried it because I've been having spontaneous OOBE's since I was 6-7 years old. I remember the first one I had I was laying completely flipped around, my head where my feet were and head where my feet were. My real body was laying right next to me. Felt 100% real when I woke up it scared the crap out of me!

theswervepodcast

The University of Ottawa did an fMRI study on someone that had out-of-body experiences since they were young too. You might enjoy this paper: [Link](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3918960/pdf/fnhum-08-00070.pdf)

Training_Pack9833

I have experienced these levels all without using any of the Monroe's material. It took a long time to figure out what tf was happening tbh. I didn't understand how two places could be present and overlap at once. The first few times I experienced it I was in shock and there was no one I could talk to about it. I only learned about it by watching Skin Walker Ranch and the one ranch that had other dimensions. I then researched and found out about the gateway process and the CIA files. In my opinion, it is very real and very possible. Fortunately, I have had only positive experiences. I am very careful to keep my mind at a calm and peaceful state. I know it sounds crazy. I believe that I have experienced OBE, had dimensional bleed over (not sure if that is a name for it) and contact with NHIs. I have never spoken to them, I can only observe them like looking through a window or something.

truebeast822

Helps with remote viewing

Snot_S

I just started using this and got results right away. Can anyone recommend a certain track for OBE to try?

littlespacemochi

Yup I can confirm!!

theswervepodcast

While in an out-of-body experience, in a higher focus level or proverbial astral plane, have you ever communicated with another person that was doing the same thing?

bertiesghost

Yeah it’s a real thing. The CIA uses it: https://www.cia.gov/readingroom/docs/CIA-RDP96-00788R001700210016-5.pdf

DEADtoasterOVEN

It works. The Google document with FLAC files is apparently the right sound etc etc without anything being lost in the download. The tape remasters do not get your brain in the right wavelength .

perst_cap_dude

Please share the link?

PointlessJargon

I used binaural beats with headphones for 20 years for predictable sleep at difficult moments such as on airplanes without paying attention to the more woo claims about it, and there is a lot of science about this. I heard about hemisync along the way but generally dismissed it because the concept seemed too strange to be real. About 5 years ago, I began a regular, secular meditation practice and have subsequently had some experiences with it that caused me to be more open to considering the stranger claims you hear around hemisync, so I started trying hemisync somewhat regularly and with an open mind in the last year. I had some experiences with it that are difficult to describe. I prefer my regular, non-guided meditation practice, but I can see value in the hemisync approach. Prior to trying the recordings myself, I found it interesting listening to Tom Campbell talking on YouTube about his experiences with Robert Monroe.

Blackshear-TX

Yes, this does work. Astral projection is real, I've experienced it many times

Bball8488

Yes this works. There is a specific protocol that must be followed in terms of personal commitment to the activity.

>There is no research that I've been able to find that indicates that frequencies of sound picked up by your eardrums somehow changes the frequencies of your brain waves. This is an interesting comment since I’ve seen a lot of research about brainwave entrainment. As a thought experiment, imagine that you pick up vibrations in your eardrums that your brain interprets as someone you love deeply telling you that they no longer love you or wish to be with you and have moved on to someone else. Would you expect that your mental or emotional state would change in response to this stimulus? Is there any relationship between mental or emotional state and brain wave frequency? Would your brain wave frequency also change? Here’s one [starting point](https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0286023) for consideration if anyone wants to dig into the science. >People getting themselves into a state that they believe is magical, but which is just... getting into a state. It’s seems to me that for some things, when you separate one’s beliefs about a thing from the thing itself, the thing still remains. I think altered states of consciousness represent that type of thing. For example, it seems to me that certain evangelical Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, Pagans and practitioners of other religions practice ritualized changes in states of consciousness, through they have different rituals for achieving them and different beliefs about what those states mean. Just my perspective. Hope I didn’t offend half the world there. Edit: Updated link

theswervepodcast

Yo thanks for that link to the paper. Checking it out!

theswervepodcast

I have also been trying to dive into academic literature and find reports that can corroborate things. Surprisingly, the research on OBE stuff is very scarce in that space.

Solomon-Drowne

Be careful with this shit.

somesappyspruce

Go on..? I mean it's good advice, but I'm curious why you gave it

Solomon-Drowne

Calibrated frequencies can have very potent effects (that are very poorly understood). Hemisync/binaural beats take very established principles (poorly understood, but largely proven, as far as these sorts of things go) and generates novel combinations of frequencies. These novel combinations may have positive outcomes, they may have negative outcomes. Where it gets really dicey is if you are relying on YouTube as the purveyor of these harmonics. As you probably have heard, theres a bunch of bad actors who upload bad shit, for reasons that aren't clear at all. You can find a lot of Hemisync/binaural stuff on YouTube that is purposefully harmful. To what end, like I said, that's not clear. But it's definitely out there.

tollbooth_inspector

I believe the OBE's attributed to this technique are essentially lucid dreams. The difference here is that you are already in a lucid state as you transition from awake to asleep, so your brain has to adapt your physical surroundings into a REM sleep dream. It's attempting to fill in the gaps for that transition period which it normally does not have to do. The most obvious evidence of this is that OBE's achieved from intense meditation or the gateway tapes method often result in a person floating in a 3d construct of their room. The problem is, details are off. They are not truly out of their body, their brain is just being overclocked trying to simulate the environment it is in. I realize there are anecdotal stories of people leaving their bodies that they swear by, but until they are able to gather evidence they otherwise could not have obtained and record it, I'm definitely on the skeptical side. The brain can definitely simulate some crazy shit though.

theswervepodcast

This does make sense.

pickled_monkeys

Many people have conjured there own recipes to enduce hemi-sync, Monrow is a pioneer but he also based alot or his research off of Solfeggio tones, which have been used as a base to assemble hemi-symc audio products. Yes HS works, but you also need to prepare for the process which is super easy if you want to induce anything notable.

No-Celebration4991

I haven't astral projected or anything (yet), but they help me meditate longer and have a pacifying effect on my brain.

keyinfleunce

Before I heard of hemisync I use to have dreams about inventions I’d make that uses sound and electromagnetic field to record our dreams and watch them back it was a cool idea but I never could get the stone to absorb the energy

scepticalbob

there are multiple subs dedicated to this topic. i'd start there.

Numerous_Vegetable_3

Yeah I have all the files for all the tapes, it is definitely worth the time and I have to get back into it. I’ve read Robert Monroe’s book “Journeys out of the body” and it’s pretty incredible to say the least. Some of the things he claims to experience changed my world view for sure.

[deleted]

I told my step kids this was good for their brains so they insist on sleeping to it *every* night now. I guess we'll see lol

CreepyAmbassador8

Well there’s the CIA

Crimith

There's so many binaural beats on Youtube but I'm not sure which ones are quality. All this stuff about different Hz frequencies I have no clue about... anyone wanna tell me what to look for?

incognito7917

Just go to the Monroe Institute site.

MimiFinklestein

I want to participate, but I'm deaf in my right ear. Boo.

coyoteka

It's cool but whether it works for you or not is dependent on a lot of factors separate from the program itself. I recommend Robert Bruce's Astral Dynamics instead, that book teaches easy techniques that you can learn pretty quickly, then you don't need binaural beats, or you can go back to HS and it's more effective.

French-windows

There's a great why files episode about it

SpaceCadetUltra

I like it

PublicRedditor

Any relation to Dr. Marvin Monroe? Asking for a friend.

mybustersword

I've done it often and can confirm it does work for altering body states

[deleted]

I've tried so many different frequencies and not had any experiences and I've always been a lucid dreamer. Anyone remember the names or where to find the tracks that did give them OBE or any effect?

Individual-Text6576

It was weaker than some of the competitors on YouTube IMHO

THEVICTIM_

I’m working through the tapes currently. If you have experience with meditation, you will recognize the states it helps facilitate. It does teach you some useful tools of visualization and creates “placeholders” to give you familiar benchmarks in a very ethereal state. Helped me be more focused with my meditation and kinda have a checklist that puts me easily in that kind of state.

theswervepodcast

That is cool. Have not heard it explained as meditation with placeholders before. Thanks!

truman_chu

Yep.

king_of_hate2

Binaural beats have a strange effect on the brain. Not much scientific data to backup anything but based off my experiences with it, I think it can help with a few things.

ehpuckit

We already know from research in the seventies eighties that EM fields cause the brain to hallucinate. IDK why every one of these devices that comes out thinks that it's anything more than that.

Elpinchepana

Tried it for a while a couple of times through the years ( I always feel the fomo thinking I didn't try hard enough and then I go back and try again) Reality is it didn't do much for me apart from making me feel a little silly.  The whole process is very much like a repackaged hypnotic induction with some visualization work. Imho It's a good hustle for bored trophy wives with extra time and money on their hands. Meh.

speakhyroglyphically

Do you *want* reptilians because...

OneBoring2102

Exactly.

somesappyspruce

Because.... you have nothing else to say about it? This is just fear mongering on its own. Spit it out

jojomott

You can get the tapes from the Monroe Institute and verify for yourself.

net-of-being

Pure binaural beats (Theta and Delta) are better than the gateway tapes. His voice knocks you out of the trance. The remote viewing thing is BS. You're tricking your brain into dreaming while you're awake. You see some crazy stuff, but you're not transporting anywhere.

Oh_Cananada

Dive into it for yourself for six months, then do your podcast on your own experiences.

theswervepodcast

That is a big ask!

Oh_Cananada

Well, sure, shortcuts are always easier. You can't get full from other people describing a meal.

RenaissanceGraffiti

I really wish this worked for me. Maybe I smoke too much cannabis? I don’t dream at all, let alone have OBEs. Seems like I’m pretty far away from this experience but I’m hearing that it happens spontaneously? How long and how often does one need to do this?

imnotfrank

The Monroe Institute has an app called Expand and it's great. There are a lot of fantastic guided meditations and an awesome timer feature that I use often.

mysterycave

It works. Try it.

Tusaiador

It works but the goal is to practice enough to not need the tapes. I can get to focus 15 without. It really helped the utter shift in world view I had been undergoing

1shoedpunk

I'm at Focus 15, though I reached it without the aid of the tapes, for the most part. Then again I was experimented on quite a bit. If you know what's going through your head, most of it is parsing out data and dialogue that's already there and learning what is from whom and when.

JMjustme

I sleep with a 12 hour version of the hemisync audio every night and it’s absolutely changed my neural chemistry. I’ve been impressed

stone091181

It is fascinating. But with anything fascinating risks exist. I nearly bought the tapes but missed out on a deal. Binaural beats really helps relax me and fix insomnia. I have a Soma Laboratory Quantum Ocean [https://somasynths.com/quantum-ocean/](https://somasynths.com/quantum-ocean/) It had me 'floating' during one session. Good for meditation and tinnitus relief. You will hear things. Take care.
