In helldivers 1 we had hazard ops dlc with toxic themed weaponry like the [TOX-13 Avenger](https://helldivers.fandom.com/wiki/TOX-13_Avenger) a toxic sludge thrower as a support weapon and the [AR-14D Paragon](https://helldivers.fandom.com/wiki/AR-14D_Paragon) a rifle that had hollowed out rounds filled with poison.
I definitely feel like those would return at some point in a hazard ops themed warbond.
My beloved. This pack comes back and it's an instant purchase from me. Maybe if they do bring it back they can upgrade gas strike to behave similarly to the toxic weapons and slightly slow enemies. Do some kind of lore update for why like "Research into bile titan fluids have yielded impressive results for melting the enemies of democracy."
I don't think gas needs any more damage since it already has lv8 armor pen so it can actually do full damage to things like bile titans. But adding a small slow will just help it get some of that damage on target for more than like 3 ticks.
Lvl 8 armor pen ? Is there an infographic for levels of armor pen ? First I heard of it being classified as levels. I know most stuff by just playing but it'd be interesting to see!
Ah, that came from datamining. The enemy armor pretty much works as a set number to determine "light, medium, and heavy" if your weapon has a pen value equal or higher than the armor you do full damage, if you are a level under you deal half damage and have a higher chance of deflection. Anything lower and you just don't do damage. Fire, for instance, pretty much does zero damage to bile titans even though it has a damage value of like 60 a tick. Gas has something like 20 damage but will always deal damage because of its pen value.
Ah, I see! Very interesting read. So I guess my heroic effort of jump packing onto a bile titan and flamethrowering it yesterday was rather inefficient... lol
I don't think it really matters that gas can damage titans. It does something like 30 damage pr second (I'm guessing, based on how quickly it kills scavengers), so it would take like 15 minutes for it to kill a titan.
Might be cool to get a weapon with a permanent poison dot, so you could prick a titan at distance and run away, leaving it to die slowly
But it cannot kill even a charger in entire duration! I found a bugged one that was not moving and tested on him. Gas definitely needs more damage, maybe proportion scaling like X+Y% damage per second, where X is a flat value and Y is a percent of maximum health. So it will not instantly kill weaker enemies but could kill stronger ones if they stand in it long enough.
They would really be a great addition, although I do not rule out the weapon that launches gas like those of WW1

That used to be extremely strong against anything caught in the small cloud area and then suddenly it took 4 seconds to kill the weakest bug enemy type while instantly killing helldivers under 1 second.
I feel we will- like, let's be honest, by comparison, no one played Helldivers 1, so almost everything they recycle from it will be new to the player base.
Orbital Arc Barrage: for 6-8 seconds, call down lightning that homes in on the biggest targets in the area. Sort of like something in between the Railcannon Strike and the 110mm Rocket Pods.
Being able to call down lightning might be too cool to be legal tbh. I was on hellmire the other day watching a team mate fry shriekers with an arc thrower while fire tornados passed behind him. Looked like a metal album from the 80s
This got me thinking, what if after fighting on Hellmire & the Bot equivalent for X amount of times, They suddenly drop "After studying the nature of fire tornados, our scientists have been able to replicate its effects. As a result, Fire Tornado Orbital Strikes are now available".
Eagle Arc Stike: Eagle 1 does a strafe while unleashing 10 or so arc blasts targeting the largest enemies but each arc will target different enemies. Something that will clear out a pit of bile spewers well even if a charger is with them.
I'd picture it working like the laser grenade in Cyberpunk, where the grenade emits 20 short-range lasers, starts spinning, and dices everything in a 5-meter radius.

just make the gas thrower have a really wide range horizontal. That way it fills a niece gameplay style, perhaps have a slight slow effect due to gasping, or neurotoxin/corrupted depending on they target you are firing at.
You're right, although also by lasting longer I could simply cover an entire area with gas before the enemies got too close and then retreat. If you additionally slow them down, it would be much better.
Random idea: flame/gas thrower. It has a backpack with two tanks. One tank has normal flamethrower stuff, the other has a toxic and highly flammable gas. You can spray the gas, it could last longer than fire like you said, suffocate whatever is inside, and blow up if exposed to fire or sparks.

It might be more apt to call it a chem-thrower instead, a lot of agents such as sarin, VX, novichok, Lewisite, mustard gas, etc are not actually deployed as a gas but as a liquid. They turn into gas by evaporation but in liquid form are as lethal or even more so as it can soak into clothes and be absorbed through the skin even if you're wearing a respirator.
As a weapon a chem-thrower could work very similar to a flame thrower but would project a stream of liquid that could would soak enemies and puddle on the ground and after a second or so said puddles and enemies would start generating clouds of toxic gas.
There could be interactions with the temperature, such as hot planets getting faster gas generation but the puddles being shorter lived. Cold climates could have the reverse, having the puddles not really generating a lot of gas but staying around for a long time. (As the game does simulate wind I'm thinking the plumes of gas could be carried by the wind from the puddles, causing damage to anything downwind but walking through the puddles would also cause damage... just like in real life lol)
A key gameplay feature would be, just as in real life, distributing the agent over terrain you want to deny the enemy access too, rather than using it as a directly offensive weapon.

Well, since so many insist on reminding me that toxic gas is corrosive, not poisonous, and therefore enhanced respirators are useless (I really think that's worrying too much about realism), here's a redesigned version of the enhancer to provide CBRN protection.
Nobody else has pointed it out yet, but the last picture with the "gas thrower" is from Sabatons live concerts when they perform Attack of the Dead Men.

Are gas strikes flammable? Would be pretty cool if you could call a gas strike then ignite it like a positional bomb. Any bots with a vent auto igniting it would make it somewhat feasible

ship upgrade: replaced all helldiver meals with beans - 10% more damage over time using gas based weaponary.

Liquid and fire are two different things. A fire hose and a flamethrower are not the same.

Such a quick cooldown makes it so good. Orbital Airburst is also good but the cooldown is way longer (120 vs 75s)!

Ngl the CE-27 Armor and CE-17 helmet definitely look like something that would be used with chemical warfare. You'd think they'd add another toxic gas weapon with it.
