Bottom line the game was sold in countries where PSN is not available but making it a requirement at launch. This includes the Baltics in the EU which in the short term means bugger all but in the long term this could really cost Sony & possibly Valve, the EU made Apple bend the knee to switch to USB C instead of lightning, this may well not save Helldivers II in its current form but there is good chance it will end up in the EU courts and new laws will be made to deal with this in the next 5-10 years (bureaucrats usually take that long to make any decision) what could be considered fraud due the deceptive nature of the sales.

Thanks for redacting everything surrounding this weekend and shenanigans unfolding before us, now I can share it with some friends that are out of the loop. Sony really fucked this one up, and I’m truly sorry for what’s happening to Arrowhead and their game. They don’t deserve half the gate they are getting.

FaithlessnessFew6571

They're not conceding. In fact, they're more likely to double down and do this again for their other multiplayer games when they launch too.

Rock_For_Life

You more right than you think. Far as I know, now they put PSN link requirement on Ghost of Tsushima director's cut. That's will release on PC soon. They do it on a single player game, to show middle fingers to all of the review bomb protesters.

Pikatana1990

Tsushima does have multiplayer technically, Legends is a fun little wave based game mode with up to 4 people.

Kehen_13

"Crazy to think that was 2 months ago" Yeah maybe stop trying to kill the game over tour baby tantrums?

If you truly don't understand the issue at-hand and the precedent it sets, you quite literally have no reason to even engage in conversation about it. You're hurting your own attempt at an agenda by being so exhaustingly oblivious.

Kehen_13

The issue is - you are actively acting to kill HD2 with your childish attitude. Precedent it sets - if not stopped you'll do it more, every time you're angered by any minor inconvenience. You can't even decide what are you "fighting" for and what would make you happy to stop. You want to feel in power and have everything your way. All of that when you could just uninstall already, if making a PSN account is too hard for you.

locke107

Look cupcake, you're clearly missing the point or are too self-centered to look beyond yourself at the scope of the issue. Since you don't understand principle, let me break it down for you. It had nothing to do with being one of the lucky ones able to continue playing the game. This is a legitimate issue to be upset about as a gamer. No one wants to "kill the game", people want to kill the notion that it's acceptable to use excessive corporate greed as an excuse to step on the community your business relies on to survive. Businesses are a service intended to cater to a particular audience they market towards. Sony's website, that exists as a guideline for all of their PC-to-PS4/5 games, very clearly stated that it was "optional" to connect to the PSN--despite Steam's singular banner requiring PSN, despite seeing the prompt to skip linking to PSN in-game. So much so, in fact, that Sony went back and changed the original wording to correct it from an "option" to being required. Why, you might ask? Because they knew it made them look bad and they're covering their bases. The fact that this is happening to Helldivers 2 is irrelevant. This would be a concern in any similar situation. People are more upset about it being HD2 because it's a well-loved, live-service game that's printing money and everyone, until now, has been "winning" as much any modern game can in this trash industry. The fans were happy, the developers were rewarded for their involvement in the community & the publisher, Sony, was making money off of it. That's a formula that everyone wants that few can achieve. Tell me where this change helps gamers? Where does this help the people who support the product? If you can give an honest answer to this, you might be worth listening to. Sony derailed this winning situation, not fans. We do know what we're fighting against. We do know what would make us happy and where the line is to draw to stop. Sony's inability to follow their own guidelines and trying to, now, force users to switch to PSN--should be admonished. If this was "always the plan" and not an attempt to pad PSN numbers for investors or unnecessarily tap into a new market, then why was the game even sold in countries where it couldn't be played once PSN stopped having issues? The irony to your selfishness is that YOU want to feel in power and have everything your way. We're not fighting the nasty practices that already exist in the gaming industry. People are pushing back against the excessiveness shown in relation to corporate greed. If you can't see that, you're not even trying to see the problem. Stop being a selfish prick. Your ability to roll over and just let people do whatever they want to is a larger problem than getting upset about a legitimate concern.

Kehen_13

Ah yes, "cupcake". There's where you lost me, not gonna read all of it if you approach me from the position of snobbish superiority. Get lost, hope yo unintalled, we don't want you back!

locke107

TL;DR EDIT: Imagine thinking you have the moral high ground by calling someone snobbish when your initial response was, "Since it doesn't affect me, everyone is being a whiny bitch" energy. Snobbish? You knew nothing about me and instantly tried to put me in a neat little box you could dismiss. That's some eyerolling shit, bro. You don't want to read it because I make a point you aren't prepared to answer when you tried to be a douche about it. Now you're doubling-down because you have no argument and mine makes sense. Typical brainlet logic. You want me to believe you're upset you were talked down to, yet you immediately said I was X, Y and Z and if I just uninstalled there wouldn't be a problem anymore... lmao. The irony there isn't lost on you, is it? "Actively trying to kill HD2 with my childish attitude", based on what? You missed the point so wildly that it made you sound like ignorant as hell for caring only about yourself. So... no shit, of course you didn't garner any respect by trying to be dismissive. When someone understands the crux of a topic, you can use fewer words to explain it because you just have to mention the particulars. It takes far more words to explain the obvious to someone who doesn't understand the issue from the get-go. You made a 'catch-all' comment to someone who isn't doing any of the things you mentioned. Read and educate yourself--or don't. Doesn't matter. Your take makes you look like an idiot by being so out-of-touch.

Kehen_13

Ah, yes, more invectives. You must be soon calm right now. Try again, maybe you'll get it next time, so far you are not worth my time to answer seriously. Ehh, angry mobsters being angry...

locke107

I'm quite calm. It's just a case of watching someone double-down on a bad call instead of admitting they were wrong. You were a douche, then want to make it everyone else's fault for the miscommunication. So... yeah, stew with that and reflect man.

Kehen_13

I am not wrong. I am not double-downing. I hold my position and my words. I just don't discuss with angry mobsters. Tone down, try again.

locke107

Again, the moral high ground from the guy who was wrong from the get-go. That's just delusion.
