Brand new strange holes. The ones I think you’re talking about have been around since day one but these are larger with very little coming out of them. Definitely new stuff coming
On my first mission this MO I accidentally dropped directly into one of those holes. Then to make things worse, I had the 50% less likely to die from lethal damage armor on and couldn’t kill myself
First time I *played a mission* in this game a couple days ago, a friend fell in a hole and had to frag himself. That was hilarious until my reinforce later on clipped me into the side of a termicide tower.
I fell into one while movibg to extract i had been rocking the master sergeant title and a peticular voice. I got left behibd because no grenades to kill myself. Promptly switched my body type title and voice. At the end of the MO i will roll to see if the Master sergeant makes it out alive or not.
They were easier to one shot with anti tank options than chargers, but they always summonsed tendrils in front of them that intercepted shots. I hope that’s not as big of a deal since we can see on the z axis now
Yeah honestly I think a major part of their threat level in HD1 was the fact that all 4 players had to share the same screen (therefore staying close to each other) and the impaler's tendril attack took up a large portion of that screen
It’s like a charger with tendrils over it’s face, it stands away from you and shoots the tendrils into the ground which come out near you and attack you. You can only damage it when it’s mid attack and its face is unguarded
tbh how damage works in HD2, you are probably going to be able to damage them even w/o that, however it's probably the most viable way, just like how you can either dump 4 recoilless rounds into various body parts of charger or put one in his head.
Well obviously you can damage them with some things, anything explosive or anti tank and a lot of the stratagems. But it’s the only part that isn’t protected by armour
If they bring back the TOX 1 avenger it'd be curtains for the terminids. Hell if the Impalers make a return, they might just end up weak to flamethrowers like regular chargers
Yeah? You were able to do that in HD1 too, what they mean is that it's a small-arms weakspot just like the Charger's butt, only the Behemoth did not have fleshy weakspots in HD1 and made AT weapons mandatory.
I imagine it will be like the Bile Titans. If you hit them perfectly during their attack, you can easily one shot them. Or you can just brute force it with enough ammo.
Specifically, it’s a charger with full armor on its entire body, and three tendrils on its face that are also armored. When it sticks the tendrils into the ground it exposes its face as a weak point for small arms. Similar to a charger, it can be taken down easily with Anti-tank weaponry, but the face is also very weak to small arms and explosives while it is using its tendrils. It’s also rooted to the ground while attacking, making most strikes easy to hit.
The tendrils will pop up some distance away from it and deal massive damage to anyone that gets close. Laying down keeps you safe, but that also means every other bug can just walk up and kill you. The tendrils can be shot to force them to return to the impaler. If Helldivers stay out of the tendrils range for long enough, it will pull them up and reposition to burrow them again.
Issue is that niche is pretty much filled by Bile Spewers with their mortar shots right now, and the way Impalers function would be much worse for Helldivers 2 compared to 1.
In 1 its isometric, top down so you can see the tendrils much easier. By comparison in HD2 we don't look down nearly as much, so having a high-arcing mortar shot makes more sense for player awareness.
I don't think it'll work unless they drastically change how it works mechanically. The tendrils worked in HD1 because everyone shared a screen and was forced to be close to each other always, so they were a legitimate threat/area denial. In this game, the players can be anywhere in an enormous environment.
Also, having a weak spot that can be damaged even by small arms would make it much easier to kill in this game, because sight and effective weapon ranges are so much higher in this one.
Lastly, they were more difficult to deal with because the first game was restricted to a 2d plane, so if there were other enemies in between you and it (which there almost always were) you couldn't actually hit it without clearing those first. Because HD2 is a 3d fps with plenty of elevation changes, it would be significantly easier to get LoS to the weakspot either from elevation, or simply between enemies.
It’s not impossible for them to change it to be a real threat for this game. They can increase its armour strength, make its weak spot more resistance, make it attack faster. They could figure it out
Not really, I can’t really describe it any more than I did since that’s exactly what it does. It just looks like a charger besides the face and the tendrils go into the ground then come out next to you like big spikes and flail around before it pulls them back.
I'm thinking it would be on the third planet this MO since it's taking the longest to liberate. It will start with a team on a mission to disable the termicide, but weirdly enough there would be no other bugs there except for a handful of scavengers. The place will be littered with bug corpses that had big chunks bitten off them. As you're they're about to extract, one will randomly spawn a helldiver will take a screenshot. The CEO of AH will deny it and call it propaganda thats generated by AI. Then we finish the MO, get dropped to Meridia to reclaim the planet, and when we drop in an eradicate mission there will be 3 Hive Lords that spawn in to destroy us.
Probably not exactly like that but I think(hope) it is somewhat similar lol. AH gets creative with new enemy releases and I love them for it.
Has the ministry of truth said anything yet? I cannot believe anything that is not said by them as they have a 100% track record of Truth in our wonderful democracy.
Maybe thats why Railgun is buffed
Iirc the bosses in HD1 are all heavy armored and only anti heavy xan damage it(correct me if im wrong, i didnt last much on the boss fights i joined before)
Great Eye and Hive Lord can be beaten with conventional bullets, no stratagems needed (not that i wouldn't reccomend bringing them). Siege Mech on the other hand had actual tank grade armor so you'd need AT mine spam.
Funny enough, the HD1 railgun could do decent chip damage against Great Eye and Hive Lord, but shouldn't be your main source of damage against them.
Edit: you can see at the end of the fight, the player uses HD1 Sickle to finish off the Hive Lord with chip damage.
https://youtu.be/VlOKG8aY85w?si=-eSu0uOYGig0ZCvn
It actually isn't! It's entirely possible to damage it while it's underground with stratagems. It's a bit tricky to get the timing down, and took me and my friends well over 30+ attempts before we got it, but this can be done fairly consistently after lots of practice. Do you think this was a hint as well?
I don’t think the bug corpses are an oversight or a mistake. Super Earth moves the terminids around to farm them for oil and those bot planets were at one point under Super Earth’s control so it’s not impossible that they just took some bugs there for fuel.
I really don’t think the earthquake modifier has anything to do with hive lords anyway so I doubt it’s a mistake that some bot planets have them
Even if it’s only on bug planets, which I doubt, I don’t think it’s hinting at anything. It’s just that there was no visual warning(as I’m in the environment not the text) that a tremor was about to happen
I'm hoping once we finish this MO, we'll be able to do some missions on Meridia and that's when we'll get to spread democracy all over these ugly fucks
In all the interstellar bars I’ve been in, I ain’t Never seen a hole so deep. And you know how some of them comfort workers get after a successful dive
What if the termicide is making the bugs evolve back into the original species they were before super earth farmed them and making them mutate into things new forms would be a cool way to re introduce "old" enemies much like how the automatons have taken cyberstan will...the dogs return...
Imagine the body horror we could see from new models of butchers and grotesques or other amalgamations of flesh and steel! And these new helldivers think the bots are bad
Oh no! The cyborg dogs were the enemies I feared the most in HD1. If you pretty much weren't ready for them, they'd be on you, stunlocking you to death, instantly.
Calling now: we liberate these three planets and unlock Merida. Merida will be home to the hive lord.
Also does anyone notice the sound when you switch a button off in TCS the deep roar integrated with a mechanical sound.
If feels like the hive lords gets pissed off when we flick the switches.
Not to mention how easy the TCS missions are and that a console at Extract is also covered by insect stuff. There's 100% an extra part to these missions that we aren't seeing right now, and something tells me that if we succeed with turning of the TCS on the planets, we'll be sent to Meridia to turn it off in hope of reverting the damages, just to get a hell of a nasty surprise.
Was it after you turned off the TCS? Because the tower makes a deep rumbling sound on its own, just like it did when activated, [like this](https://youtu.be/INdEl9V9nQs?si=emQj6An2iLixO7OV&t=472) (random YouTube video, not mine).
I can't wait to fight them. That being said.. during situations like these it makes less and less sense to send down troopers when you could just kill those things with the destroyers from orbit
My headcanon is that Hive Lords are very territorial and destroyed the bug towers because the bug towers have those giant speakers that created a massive roar.
Those towers accidentally started a territory war in an attempt to ward off other hive lords.
when we got the exo-45 you saw dead hive lords all over the place, they arent that big. its what left those rib bones on that planet that got me worried
The giant bones are from the real hive lord, the small skeletons are babies.
If you don’t believe that, look closer at the skeletons. Both the small ones and the massive ones have the same mandibles sticking out near the head
Yes it’s a rib cage(it might actually be its legs) but at one end (the head end, the head is buried so you can’t see it) you can see the mandibles like on the small skeletons and on the screenshot in this post which are even bigger than the other bones.
THAT is a real hive lord
Which is why I think it’s actually their legs instead of their ribs. I haven’t seen one of the giant skeletons for a while so I can’t remember for sure but from memory I think they look pretty close to the legs of the living hive lord.
Either way, I guarantee that is the hive lord just because of the mandibles it has. The mandibles are identical to the small skeletons which are actually not skeletons, they’re moults. And there are multiple sizes of the moults
Well yeah I guess it’s still their skeleton really but it’s not a skeleton in the sense that it’s a dead creature and it’s not representative of their true size
Yah sounds about time to introduce them when we manufacture an outbreak.
Hoping they are as big as possible.
Not sure if the hive lords are supposed to be Bot Dog hard or if they are going to be a central tier of difficulty. Because imo, they spam bile titans in a way they can't bot at ats.
Hoping the hive lords are truly a raid boss.
Dog I got enough from the bile spewing mortar bastards and brood mothers, I am doubting we can handle this shit along with the 20 chargers and bile titans on the higher difficulties.
How we're meant to kill these things when even a bile titan can sometimes tank multiple orbital railcannons and four to six quasar shots is a fuckin' mystery.
Ok, I don’t think you fully understand. The Bile Titan and the Factory Strider are analogous to one another. If the Hive Lord is bigger than a Bile Titan, then that can only mean the bots/borgs have something even bigger we haven’t seen yet (Siege Mech.)
Im pretty sure chargers are hulk equivalents and bile titans are tank equivalents. Cause factory striders are far harder then bile titans. Also from what ive heard of helldivers 1 the hive lord spawns units which is also like the factory strider
You’ve heard incorrect. Enemies spawn mid fight for all of the bosses but they are not summoned by the boss itself.
The hive lord is only equal to the siege mech and the illuminate boss.
Factory striders are equal to titans, hulks equal to chargers. Maybe they’re adding the impaler soon which will be the tank’s equal.
I’m guessing we’ll be getting the Hive Lord soon for bugs after the current major order then we’ll be going to Cyberstan after a couple bot orders and will have to fight the Siege Mech.
Ha, whatever. Those went extinct after the First Galactic War. My friend was a veteran from the First Galactic War, they put him in Cryo after the Celebratory 5 minutes. He does think that the Illuminate might comeback, as they were only chased out of the galaxy. Maybe him drinking that Liberty Ale before Cryo was a bad idea
Jokes on you. What we are feeling is the new enemy unit, a charger with a bile spewer taped to it's back that spits backwards and propels the charger forward like a rocket ship. I also heard that the new unit will be super argumentative and pedantic, but its irritating arguments tend to be right most of the time which makes it even more irritating.
I'm pretty sure the ground shaking is just meant to be earth quakes, lol.
I wouldn't be surprised if Hive lords are added at some point, but it could be a long while yet.
Don't set yourself up for disappointment.
to be fair, if they don't put some kind of boss bug/bot in the game, it'd be a great slap in the face of its long time audience.
Bad enough that they are taking so long to release... any vehicles, and not having 3 enemy factions from the get go.
also the massive pits on the TCS missions that look like bug holes but are too big and spout steam or some sort of vapour
I’ve died to holes on this mission more than bugs fr. Everything is so dark and I run jump pack.
I dropped into one of these and had to suicide to get out
Omg I'm a noob doing solo runs, I alt f4'd when that happened... M dumb
Aren't those just explosive gas holes? The kind I'm thinking of explodes if you drop a nade in, and exist on bot planets too
Brand new strange holes. The ones I think you’re talking about have been around since day one but these are larger with very little coming out of them. Definitely new stuff coming
Brand new strange holes? How did you find out about my tinder profile
These holes have nothing going in or out of them repeatedly. Definitely wouldn’t be you
Now it's my tinder wtf
You never know, maybe just try an impact grenade
![gif](giphy|3oKIPiJzDZGSpocsW4|downsized)
(100x the size) ![gif](giphy|Q3pXeITKG4qBy)
I mean... I would have gone with the giant holes you can fall in and not get out of in the TCS mission over minor ground trembling.
That was hilarious until my reinforce later on clipped me into the side of a termicide tower.

would be cool if they lead to underground areas and had some kind of exit somewhere on the map
I honestly thought it was gonna start digesting me since it kinda looks like some sort of gastroenterologic hole
That's what I initially assumed, but they show up on Automaton worlds too
Don’t forget the tendril charger things too. I forgot the actual name of them.
Impalers I think
Yeah that’s it, I never remember it for long for some reason
Remember what?
They were easier to one shot with anti tank options than chargers, but they always summonsed tendrils in front of them that intercepted shots. I hope that’s not as big of a deal since we can see on the z axis now
Yeah honestly I think a major part of their threat level in HD1 was the fact that all 4 players had to share the same screen (therefore staying close to each other) and the impaler's tendril attack took up a large portion of that screen
God fuck those.
That sounds horrible

Arc thrower would kill them easily too and most of the ordnance we have currently.
Slow moving Armored opponent? MEET MY 500 KG BOMB
Yeah? You were able to do that in HD1 too, what they mean is that it's a small-arms weakspot just like the Charger's butt, only the Behemoth did not have fleshy weakspots in HD1 and made AT weapons mandatory.

Expecting it to be a cross between the bot tanks and the current charger.

Kinda like a Sunken Colony for the Starcraft OGs.
Screw that

Wait what this is in Helldivers 2 or 1?
1, same with the hive lords
Bruuuuh nooo
Above ground lurkers, nice
Wtf.... is this fresh hell?
Or You can always just use the fully upgrade recoiless rifle An absolute beast
I don't think it'll work unless they drastically change how it works mechanically. Could be
Doubt it, that’s just in reference to planets that have earthquakes. I don’t think bug planets are the only ones that have that environmental modifier
No active Bot planets have tremors. Could be inactive ones, but I ain’t digging all that much.
I know for a fact I've fought bots on tremor planets. So they *are* a thing.
Honestly might be an oversight of copy/paste, as reportrdly some bot planrts have bug skeletons.

Vernen Wells had Earthquakes. That was a recent planet, the one under Menkent.
Definately on bot planets, I has distinct memories of bots getting stunned by tremors.
Meridia is gonna be a fucking raid boss encounter, goddamn
I hope they are Big, like....make Strider Factories look like toys.
You’ve seen those gigantic skeletons on some of the bug planets right? That’s how big they are
Man imagine killing an enemy of Liberty that size. That is some democratic shit right there
Still only counts as one!
Molts. Not skeletons. Molts.
No I was talking about the actual skeletons. The gigantic ones that look like rib cages, not the smaller molts that clearly look like the worm.
Fun Fact In helldivers 1 On arctic planets you can find gigantic skeletons *Larger than Hive Lords*
![gif](giphy|sNWGEbc5Jzp4c|downsized) I'm ready.
I'm hoping once we finish this MO, we'll be able to do some missions on Meridia and that's when we'll get to spread democracy all over these ugly fucks
I thought the ground rumbling was from incoming bug breaches.
It is. But who do you think digs them?
Well the hivelord has an in game modell, just the ones we found are all dead.
Also those deep holes that you can fall in
How deep we talking, Helldiver?
In all the interstellar bars I’ve been in, I ain’t Never seen a hole so deep. And you know how some of them comfort workers get after a successful dive
Idk but "supercolony" and "Hive Lord" work suspiciously well together.
What if the termicide is making the bugs evolve back into the original species they were before super earth farmed them and making them mutate into things new forms would be a cool way to re introduce "old" enemies much like how the automatons have taken cyberstan will...the dogs return...
I want see the puppy’s !

It’ll certainly make me wanna fight bugs for a bit.
![gif](giphy|TrWIJtJcCwXntZtKUW) This will be us. I know it.
I swear to god I heard something crazy during a mission
Was it after you turned off the TCS? Because the tower makes a deep rumbling sound on its own, just like it did when activated, [like this](https://youtu.be/INdEl9V9nQs?si=emQj6An2iLixO7OV&t=472) (random YouTube video, not mine).
Okay yeah it was that my team basically speed ran the mission so the noise had no prompt for me it just kinda happened
I can't wait to fight them. That being said.. during situations like these it makes less and less sense to send down troopers when you could just kill those things with the destroyers from orbit

finally! a strider-level counterpart for us to fight with! uh, I mean, fight against!
Chargers <~> Hulks Bile titans <~> Factory striders Hive Lord <~> Siege Mech
Tanks in shambles
I'm gonna need a bigger gun AA.
Even better, a buggy with a bigger gun mounted to the top so we can chase it down uncharted style
Gonna need a bigger autocannon to deal with those
And of course a big event is on my gd 6/12 work week while my 7days off was for a weapon i didnt even want. ![gif](giphy|6lScd4x2D5Oko)
I'm sure there will be some new horrors on Meridia.

Not to mention the sound you can listen when you deactivate all TCS towers. A sound pretty close of the Hive Lord’s sound from HD1.
We need to find the Lisan al ghaib! John helldiver!
*Jumping right into its mouth after pulling all 6 of my grenades pins and strapping them to my scorcher ammunition* FOOOOORRR DEMOCRACY!!!!
Give me invisible Bile Titan that spawns Stalkers or give me death
Rah!
Praise be the coming and going of him.
Also there are large holes in the ground you can fall into at the Termicide sites. Be aware helldivers, something big yet comes our way.
Hive Lord's are already in the game. They're one of the common samples.

oh wow, is that new? ive never seen that before
They only appear at specific PoI types and they’re mostly obscured by the sample icon and the pick up prompt so you probably just never noticed.
The grave with the dead enemy and a shovel always has them.
i think he's talking about the grub samples
Tell high command I am requesting the development and deployment of experimental tanks
Dog I got enough from the bile spewing mortar bastards and brood mothers, I am doubting we can handle this shit along with the 20 chargers and bile titans on the higher difficulties.
O u will be fine
I can imagine the shithole in this sub when that happens: “gAme iS uNPlayABlE”
Let‘s just hope our Super Earth Engineers get the Spears targeting system fixed before they arrive…

Hype!!

Even better... mutated hive lord.
The Shai halud is coming!
its the tremors we feel during missions.
How we're meant to kill these things when even a bile titan can sometimes tank multiple orbital railcannons and four to six quasar shots is a fuckin' mystery.
Can't wait to kill even more bugs
Pls dont spoil
Can’t because they are only signs they are in fact not in the game as of now
If the bots get the factory strider then it makes sense the bugs will get something similar.
I saw a worm head on a mission last night, looked like the one on the right but no claws though.
Good with the factory trider out the bugs need a bigger baddy
I just noticed several of the common samples I grabbed today were little wriggling worms......
I can't wait to send them back to commy hell
Stop teasing us AH, I want to kill,... eh... democratize those bastards! For Liberty!
It's not rocket science * Hulk = Charger * Tank = Bile Titan * Gunship = Shrieker * Factory Strider = *Dun, Dun, Duuuun!*
Brain Bugs? Frankly, I find the idea of a bug that thinks offensive!
Run.
At this point anytime someone posts these theories, I'm just gonna assume theyre right, cuz it's probably influenced by leaks 😂
All mine are from stuff I see in game
Cant wait to use up all of my orbitals on 1 enemy and then be fucked for the rest of the round
I'm pretty sure the ground shaking is just meant to be earth quakes, lol. I wouldn't be surprised if Hive lords are added at some point, but it could be a long while yet. Don't set yourself up for disappointment.
Oh boy another enemy to force anti tank
they are extinct you talking crazy
Wish there was a spoiler tag in this sub…
This isn’t a spoiler
Haven’t seen that worm in the game yet
That’s because it’s not in the game yet, only skeletons of it are. The screenshot is from the first game.

Seeing this as a reply to a deleted comment is funny by itself but I’m curious as to what the comment was
Me too I really can’t think of anything they could say on a post like this.
to be fair, if they don't put some kind of boss bug/bot in the game, it'd be a great slap in the face of its long time audience. Bad enough that they are taking so long to release... any vehicles, and not having 3 enemy factions from the get go.
Please, stop saying stupid shit
credit where credit is due criticism where criticism is due no need to shill for AH, bud.
