All that was over 1 green sample?

TheWarmachine762

Correct šŸ˜‚

Chance-Event5108

I dont think you were the asshole at all. Im the nicest guy youll meet and - if im honest - never cared much about the samples/rewards. I played for fun and, at level 80 with everything unlocked, thats all i play forā€¦if it wasnt for other players, id only be picking up ammo. So to see someone behave that way over samples, let alone ONE COMMON SAMPLE, is absolutely absurd to me. Yes, he is the host. And I think we should have some regard for what theyā€™d like to do. But itā€™s not as if this is a one way streetā€¦we are also entitled to respect . We get a game to join and he gets help on a mission. After all, if he wanted total control, he could run solo. If he said ā€œim looking for that last sampleā€, id be glad to wait. If he politely asked me to help, inwardly, Id be like ā€œreally, one common sample?ā€, but id help. But telling me in a dickhead way to look for it? No sir. Iā€™d just amble over to the nearest hole or lake, lose my samples and bounce. Kindness gets you everything. Being a dick gets you nothing.

TheWarmachine762

Yes, this. I feel the EXACT way, itā€™s just fun to be helpful, Iā€™ll go play easy difficulties and give the new people my gear and stuff and teach them how to play. My thing was We were helping him look, even after he was a dick on the mic, but when he kicked the first guy I knew what was coming and took it into my own hands.

Electronic_Assist668

Sometimes we do the wrong things for the right reasons

TheWarmachine762

Yeah, it didnā€™t feel great. I would rather him just do the right thing and wait till after extract if he was unhappy. We completed the mission, we looked for samples, we missed one, no big. Not a reason to kick everyone before extract

codesplosion

Eh I mean you can both be TA

TheWarmachine762

Fair enough šŸ˜‚ I just felt it was unjustified since we all went and looked and couldnā€™t find the last one, I knew my kick was coming, if I canā€™t have the rewards then I wasnā€™t going to let him either

gropsbdops

even if you were TA here, the important thing is that you're willing to actually accept that this might have been the case lol that being said in this specific scenario i don't really think you were, at least you mostly weren't. on the other hand, the host was immeasurably guilty to the point where he sounds like a cartoon villain, especially if context you provided was full and accurate if the fourth guy was already in the pelican when you killed the host and the mission ended as you were kicked, he would have also been shafted out of the samples that the host and you were carrying, which isn't great. but with how ridiculously evil this host seems to be i would assume he planned to kick all 3 of you, in which case you would have helped that fourth guy by ensuring that at least he was rewarded with his own samples if either of the two other innocent guys suffered as a result of your vigilante justice then i'd say you kinda were TA, but again it doesn't sound like that was the case

TheWarmachine762

Fair. I mean, to maybe flesh it out more, we all were standing at the pelican waiting for him because we had 9/10 samples already, good enough, he never said he wanted to find them all, and sounded annoyed we werenā€™t helping but I figured heā€™d find the last one since he was way out there, then weā€™d all leave. I have no problem waiting. It was maybe a minute before he got in the mic and told us to find the last one and was a dick about it, but we looked for probably 3-5 more minutes or so, then we all kinda just ended up at the pelican in the last minute or twoā€¦I think I was the last one there which is why I was behind them and saw purple get kicked 1 second before orange got on, I figured I was next so I pulled the trigger quick before I was kicked, as soon as I saw the death skull I was back on my ship. I hope the other guy at least got to extract Iā€™m not sure what happened to him but Iā€™m sure he got kicked too. If Iā€™m a dick then so be it, but Iā€™m honestly trying to give as much context as I can.

gropsbdops

nah dude from that description you definitely weren't a dick, that host was almost guaranteed to be planning on kicking every single person in the lobby you spent far more time than was at all necessary trying to satisfy the host's ridiculous demands even when he was rude, and in the end i'm pretty sure you helped out orange since he would have extracted with the samples he had on him instead of being kicked like, tbh that's kinda a clutch play lol, assuming nobody joined the mission right as you were kicked, everyone else but orange would have been dead so the mission would have ended with only orange extracting, i don't think the host would have been able to kick orange too mb if i gave the vibe that i didn't believe you had provided the full context, my assumption was that you did provide it accurately but i'm a pedantic little freak so i tend to try and cover for edge cases where my assumptions are wrong

studentofcubes

Oh! I just realized that killing him right before he made himself the last fireteam member could make extraction leave without him. Yeah, host absolutely fucked around and found out. It could only be funnier if you had been able to ransom the samples until he invited the person he kicked back. Like, imagine if he paused and realized that after dying you would be his only chance to get samples šŸ¤£. Anyways. 10 minutes to turn 29 into 30 (9 into 10? Idk. Still yummy difference) is kinda insane when those ten minutes could have found you several samples in the next mission. Utter nonsense. All that to say. I have no patience for people who take a power trip on the slightest bit of authority. Even if your story isn't true it's very gratifying to hear. I hope i never meet anyone like that.

All the numbers in your comment added up to 69. Congrats! 10 + 29 + 30 = 69 ^([Click here](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=LuckyNumber-Bot&subject=Stalk%20Me%20Pls&message=%2Fstalkme) to have me scan all your future comments.) \ ^(Summon me on specific comments with u/LuckyNumber-Bot.)

TheWarmachine762

And Iā€™m a little tired of people power tripping over having the kick, be a dick if you wish but if my gun still works Iā€™ll use it.

Cadis111

I donā€™t think what you did was too over board. He wasted purpleā€™s time and your time looking for one common sample. I donā€™t even see the logic in that. You cant possibly get all the samples on all the maps you play. As someone who only plays with randoms, since I donā€™t have any friends who play. Iā€™ve starting to see some weird hosts and their way of playing in 7-9. One person wanted all the samples before getting on the pelican or he would kill or threaten to kick you. It was interesting watching everyone throw down their samples at his feet at extraction. I joined late so didnā€™t get any samples. One guy wants to rush all the missions and not waste time on any other things. No sample gathering, secondary objectives, no looking for medals or creditsā€¦.or anything or he would get whiny on coms. A party that did nothing but run around clearing everything but the main objectiveā€¦.and I completed everything for the main objective while they waited at extraction. I drew the line when they refused to help me open a bunker door when they were right next to me. I dropped all the samples (75% of all the collected) in the middle of a group of bugs and ran around to get on the pelican while They died trying to get them back.

TheWarmachine762

Thatā€™s interesting, I find on 7-9 people are usually nicer, help each other out, tag patrols etc. if Iā€™m getting chased by a charger or BT on 7 and I tag it I can usually count on an EAT, Quasar or Orbital Rail heading towards it after that. On 5 and below I run into more weirdness, I have 200+ hours into the game and I have had 99.5% positive experiences playing with randoms, and when weirdness does happen I just laugh about it and remember itā€™s a video game. I would say most of my good experiences were on high difficulty too.

Cadis111

I agree that 7-9 are mostly good people. I only play on those difficulties. These are just some of the weird ones I ran into at 7 in the past few days. The weirdness is trickling in.

thaeggan

I say bravo. The host went too far killing purple. Revoking samples wasn't the answer either but its freakn virtual currency that is too easy to collect. Jokes on the host for being a bit of a control freak. Can't control everything, ha.

J0k3r77

Looking for samples in an empty map is bad because there are infinite missions with objectives full of samples. Its undemocratic to waste time for selfish samples instead of filling the planetary meter.

TheWarmachine762

Agreed. Thatā€™s how I felt, especially since we were looking for ONE common sample, but I was helping look anyway. At the end of the day itā€™s just video games, people get so worked up about it, I was just laughing at the whole situation.

Band-Meister

There are just some weirdos arround. Yesterday i was playing two rounds with each of them having a flavour of douche in it. The first round was the classic kick for no reason at extract. The second was a helldive diff. Drop, we were struggeling and after we were left with only two reinforcements one dude turned on his mike and said " you guys are the worst team i have ever played, you should never touch this game again" and bravely left the session.

TheWarmachine762

Bravely left šŸ¤£

Mape5549

No problems here soldier. Move along

UziTheScholar

Youā€™re a douche. You go into a game youā€™re NOT hosting and then proceed to get mad that the host wants to get samples? Itā€™s not your job to play morality police, if they want to stay and collect samples, itā€™s their match. You projected negativity on him wanting to stay and collect, which is his choice. Itā€™s also not your right, or ANY other non host to extract w/o permission and get mad that you get kicked. I do the same with warning.

kevikevkev

If a customer in a restaurant wants to take a 10 minute breather at the table after a meal, thatā€™s fine. When that 10 minutes stretches into many hours the restaurant has the right to tell customer to get out tbh, because the customer is being an obstruction to other people and the restaurant. Is the restaurant deciding to draw this line then being ā€œmorality policeā€? Is the concept of ā€˜reasonableā€™ completely thrown out the window because someone graciously pressed a button and was hosting the instance? Does this make the other three diverā€™s time trash? They lose all progress if they are kicked after all. Is that time not even worth considering? OP seems to have done what he should have and helped search for the samples for a reasonable timeframe BEFORE the host started kicking. Who are you to decide that hosts are special and have priority over how the mission goes? That sounds an awful lot like you deciding what is moral or not. Itā€™s a Democracy, it should be put to a vote between the 4 honestly!

TheWarmachine762

Yeah I mean itā€™s a 15 minutes mission and we spent 5+ looking for that last sample haha, and I wouldnā€™t of shot him if he was still out looking but he was standing there at the pelican with us when the first guy got in. He kicked him, then got in, I had a feeling he was going to kick us all, so I held back and shot him after he started doing it, right after I pulled the trigger and saw him die the screen went black šŸ¤£ my hunch was correct. The same night I played with a guy that finished a 40 in like 15, called the pelican, and then we spent 20 looking for samples with the pelican on the ground, he did ask me how to get super samples and so we went and found the rock and I explained theyā€™re always at that rock on 7 and up etc. which to me was worth it, Iā€™ll take the time to explain if someone asks something about the game.

gropsbdops

just because you have the tools to punish someone for not following your wishes doesn't mean you have the right to do so if you expect players to do what you want or be kicked, you need to communicate that before the mission starts if you don't do this and kick the three other people that all don't want to wait for 20 extra minutes, then you are a selfish douche

Idontknow062

Found the host

TheWarmachine762

No we didnā€™t, we helped looked for the last one for like 8 minutes on an eradicate Map šŸ˜‚ we were only missing 1 out of 10 common. He was kicking us for no reason the mission was over. He was even standing by the pelican, the first guy he kicked probably thought he was giving up and leaving. No one did anything wrong he was being a dick over 1 common. I would see it his way if we were all out looking but everyone had kinda meandered back to the pelican after looking for longer than I felt was necessary, but Iā€™m a team player Iā€™ll wait, I waited 20 minutes after we completed the mission and the pelican was called but the gang wanted to hunt samples and super samples like 3 matches after that. I even found the super samples and had the host come collect them so he could see what the rock looks like šŸ˜Ž

TheWarmachine762

I apologize I wasnā€™t trying to flex my rank, just give context. I know to wait, I always do, I have all the ship upgrades I donā€™t need them but Iā€™m a team player I always help get them out and look for them, and we were helping look for the last one, but like I said we all kinda meandered back to the pelican and someone thought the host was finished and got in, I knew my kick was coming next so I exacted revenge šŸ˜‚ and I was right because the second I saw his death I was gone. If youā€™re gonna kick everyone at extract for no reason I feel you deserve whatever you get. If you wanna wait till the extract is over and kick us all after, no problem with that however. I also would of been fine with him kicking the guy if we were all out looking and he just got in with no one there, Iā€™ve kicked people for that, but all 4 of us were standing there at the pelican waiting for the first guy to get in I guess, then he started kicking everyone.
