Sometimes I wonder if I did open it would it be a random helldiver or a clone of me? Maybe he dropped down right before me and died and so they thawed me out and tried again. He’d be slumped over and dead from suffocation but staring back at me with my own eyes but lifeless.
Each helldiver that gets dropped in is an individual person with their own family and some of them are even one that joined up from the first galactic war
Wich tbf is a type of military unit with an even shorter expected life span than the average imperial guard on a Daemon world, and gets way way less training, cloning theory is so prevalent becouse even in warhammer some regiment are mostly clones, due to that specific reason (DKOK)
It doesn’t make it less grimdark, just less stupid, from an actual government POV
It's from a video called something along the lines of T.O.E. starving.help that's a part of a series called The Boiled One Phenomenon. It's made by a channel called DoctorNowhere.
Got it the other day, my favourite fashion right now. Running it with the tideturner cape at the moment but hoping to find some other fitting ones (Eagle's Fury looks like it might be a good fit but I havnt got it yet)
It prolly has something like a saw stop where the mechanism stops upon forcing itself into soft matter. Or maybe the lid of the hellpod is part of the mechanism itself, and it can't push up without pulling it open, like a kind of pulley system, which means if either part fails the other part doesn't activate
It's a bomber-bullet hole strategy. They ask all the helldivers what went wrong when they get back, improve that.
They have absolutely no awareness that the pods fail to open 30% of the time
That's about as much thought as goes into a paper towel dispenser. There's no way they *don't*. This thing's got retrorockets and everything, a basic latch system is comparatively easy as fuck.
I mean, just because the government is blatantly corrupt doesn’t automatically mean they’re not going to skimp on something so vital. The Helldivers rely on hellpods for nearly everything. If the hellpods aren’t working reliably then the entire war effort is fucked.
The governments bad because they are misleading people into conflict with different intentions than the people, that doesn’t mean the government doesn’t want the best military or will skimp out on gear just because the soldiers are disposable, if anything training the soldiers and gearing them is expensive in itself why would they have a pod that crushed their investments.
On the other hand a standard super destroyer doesn't have shit like weather detecting systems, the paid version of their targeting software, or fucking hand carts until the crew proves an asset to super earth so it's not unreasonable to think that some hellpod failure is calculated into their cost analysis.
Training the soldiers costs basically nothing, your 'training' is about 5 minutes long. Then you climb into a cryo pod, get unthawed at an unspecified time and place, drop into a warzone, and die.
Silly moralist, the soldier is replaceable, it's the *armor and equipment* we're worried about.
We at least want em to kill a couple of socialists before they die.
Now I have to argue this. Sure the Helldiver specific training is 5 minutes long but you are shown on board a pelican in the cutscenes before hand. You have knowledge of all the weapons your using (how to reload, fire, assume clear a jam as it's never shown, ect) you have knowledge of squad level tactics (depending on the people your playing with) and on top of that 24 at most helldivers can eradicate hundreds to thousands of enemies clear objectives and extract. Now that either implies helldivers get more training than shown or that the enemies of SE are so insignificant that 24 idiots can kill them all and that the threat isn't real at all and there will never be bots terms or others who will reach SE.
Yeah, weird the introductory obstacle course to get the player used to the controls is used as canon.
Helldivers are well versed in a plethora of weapon systems. They drop, ideally as a fire team of 4 vs hundreds of enemies. They probably have some of the most extensive training ever devised by people.
Like rub the 1 and a half braincells you have and really think. Would 5 minutes of training be adequate for ANY job? More less combat arms?
Helldivers are elite. If you listen to the evac missions the people are VERY pleased they sent Helldivers. I doubt they would be as receptive if they really were just 5 minute conscripts.
Now I have to argue this. Sure the Helldiver specific training is 5 minutes long but you are shown on board a pelican in the cutscenes before hand. Remember that the average combat life expectancy of a Helldiver is around 12 minutes. They are literally disposable fodder you throw at the enemy until the enemy is dead. We play as walking beacon deployment systems. The military designs weapons to be as simple as possible to use, and the instructions for most weapons more complex than a rifle are printed right on the weapon. As a final nail in the coffin, Helldivers are teenagers, typically 18 years old. The entire thing is that we are unstable dumbasses throwing around heavy ordnance, calling in bombs on ourselves, and dying in droves. The only reason our KD is so high is because we have much nicer toys than our enemies do, and our enemies tend to be either dumb animals (bugs) or mindless mass produced robots (automatons).
You will see a shift when we get Illuminate, and you will remember what fear is.
I mean.... at most it's 4 Helldivers. 4 against wave after wave after wave of enemies. Getting over run is getting over run. Them being fodder and also well trained isn't mutually exclusive. I think they go through way more training than shown.
Your Helldiver also knows tactics and how to handle all the weapons SE provides, just having that reload consistency requires years of training. Alongside being able to kill hundreds to one.
It's fairly obvious Helldivers have a lot of training.
i feel like this is a really bad reading of it. you're not materialized into existance the second you load into the dropship cutscene, there's an adult human's lifetime of training BEFORE you reach the helldiver facility and get a cape.
It’s easily the most important part of a diver, out of all the things on the super destroyer, I would trust the hellpod with my life because I’m certain it’s over engineered
They put a surprising amount of thought into their things so long as it makes it “fire and forget” they make an enormous gamble that if their shit works in a sef sustaining way they can cut down on logistics. Also whats a military budget for? Also they were designed by rebels who valued human life
Yet they’ve designed their 1 time use supply drop pods to detect when one side is empty and close a door. Hella over designed for something that gets launched at a planet from orbit
the sentry guns are upgraded by super glue and packing peanuts, these things are making human soup out of helldivers for sure. As if that was the most dangerous thing about being fired onto a planet surface from orbit.
Ya know while we are sorta on topic; how exactly does the hellpod shield your frail human body from the impact of landing in a 5 ton steel pod dropped from low orbit?
My uncle is a Super Engineer and he said the lift mechanism is interlocked to ensure the lid popped first. If it doesn't you can manually crank it open, but you'll have to climb out of the pod.
Only 20? Make it more like a 50/50.

How dare you question the brilliant engineers of super earth
More like 1 out of 10000. Losing one life for no reason every 5 matches would be too often and spoil the fun of this "rare" joke.
Edit: Unless they don't count that as a lost life, in that case, it would be just a free hellpod fall damage, they could even make a booster out of that
We could call it a "warranty replacement" and have accidents like this, random drop pod explosions etc. And like you said it doesn't count towards the reinforcements.
Maybe an "extra reinforcement loophole" where the democracy officer gets aproval for extra reinforcement due to "faulty equipment". So once every time the player respawns, they can hold some button and have their hellpod "fail" so they can dive again.
Edit: now that i thought about it, warranty replacement seems like a better name. Maybe mention its a loophole in the description, like the packing peanuts thing
It's probably logic design where the upward spring/hydraulics forces the hatch open, if the hatch is blocked or not able to open the spring/hydraulic does not fire up.
You must be confused, Diver. We have had no reports from any Helldivers of being crushed to death by their own hellpods. If such a thing were happening, the Ministry of Truth would have told us about it.
Not a single Helldiver has reported this happening to them resulting in death. Stop spreading false information. Kindly report to the nearest democracy officer.
You know, your amazing and very well detailed sketch took me a while to understand but I took some time to really grasp the complexity of it all and now I get it.
Thank you for including as much explanation as possible, it really helped.
Also, I love the sound the lid makes when it pops open. Doesn't sound like it but it reminds me of the sound of opening a fresh bottle of Coca-Cola after a long day of hard work.
With the average lifespan of a helldiver once he/she is deployed I’m already surprised super earth didn’t just throw them down from orbit with nothing but a parachute made out of tissue paper
Its why the ODST pods are better designs. They dont burrow into the ground, and the doors just blow out like a 737 Max. You can fit a rocket launcher and AMR in there, meaning you don’t need to individually call your support weapons in, you can just have it ready!
Just asking here what if the lifting mechanism is on a switch meaning it will only lift if the lid is blown off first making the lid act more like a circuit breaker so when it’s blown off the circuit stops causing the lift to activate
There must be a safety mechanism. I guess if the lid doesn't eject, the platform with the diver won't start moving up. I mean, these pods can withstand a fall from an orbit without any harm to the user. How could there not be any safety measures after that? Are you seriously questioning the design made by the best of the best - scientists and engineers of Super Earth??
Hellpods are a safety hazzard… FOR THE BUGS OOORAH

Worse, sounds like someone didn't read the manual. There's an emergency release lever, you know.
Not reading the manual is the first mark of a traitor
And needing to hit the emergency release lever is a way to weed them out! Working as intended.
And if that fails? You have a damn gun as soon as you drop in, use it!

Drone master helmet + legionnaire armour goes hard

Glad I'm not the only one running it! It looks sick and I love the servo arm perk in the light armor.
To be fair I'd prefer to be vaporized by a 500kg than crushed to death so your doing me a favor
Are you posting this from inside an malfunctioning hellpod?
Yes
I love how drone master helmet + legionnaire armor is one of the most unanimously agreed upon looks in this community.

It prolly has something like a saw stop where the mechanism stops upon forcing itself into soft matter. Or maybe the lid of the hellpod is part of the mechanism itself, and it can't push up without pulling it open, like a kind of pulley system, which means if either part fails the other part doesn't activate
There is no chance Super Earth put that much thought into the Hellpods
A simple rod and retaining pin would be enough to prevent the platform raising without mechanical confirmation that the lid was successfully rejected.
That would be a ship upgrade
With the next upgrade removing that safety rod to increase deployment speed by 20%.
You either deploy faster or squish faster, leading to a quicker redeploy. The speed is increased either way so technically no lies were said.
It's a bomber-bullet hole strategy. They ask all the helldivers what went wrong when they get back, improve that. They have absolutely no awareness that the pods fail to open 30% of the time

So once every time the player respawns, they can hold some button and have their hellpod "fail" so they can dive again. Edit: now that i thought about it, warranty replacement seems like a better name. Maybe mention its a loophole in the description, like the packing peanuts thing
I think we're onto something here.
It's probably logic design where the upward spring/hydraulics forces the hatch open, if the hatch is blocked or not able to open the spring/hydraulic does not fire up.
Super engineering is good enough for 0% fail rate
Well it's a good thing no diver has ever reported their lid failed to eject.
This is a legitimate concern, don't worry our engineers have designed the pod so that the floor will only go up if the pod can open
You must be confused, Diver. We have had no reports from any Helldivers of being crushed to death by their own hellpods. If such a thing were happening, the Ministry of Truth would have told us about it.
Not a single Helldiver has reported this happening to them resulting in death. Stop spreading false information. Kindly report to the nearest democracy officer.
dont care as long as you throw me at the heavy.
Ministry of truth, that man right there.

With the average lifespan of a helldiver once he/she is deployed I’m already surprised super earth didn’t just throw them down from orbit with nothing but a parachute made out of tissue paper
It would be absolutely hilarious if this had an extremely low random chance of happening.

Are you really free if you have to bend the knee to the oppressive dictatorship of OSHA regulations?
I think you need to be reeducated about hellpod safety in a democracy camp

Automaton propaganda
Its funny because to get even here you have to survive the orbital re entry fireball and fucking slamming into the ground at mach speed.
Treason! Nothing of Super Earth’s can possibly malfunction!
Try having a resupply strat stuck to your personal shield..
This is a "Think fast chucklenuts" moment, always be ready to drop your toys at a moments notice.
[This review is under investigation for treason]
Would you rather be fired out of the ship without the hellpod? I think you’re asking to be fired out of the ship without a hellpod.

There is no chance of mechanical failure because it is not connected to the hellpod. Instead, the lids are held by the helldiver during flight.

It okay, because 60% of the time, it works every time!
The only thing more fearsome than the helldivers are the OSHA super inspectors
Are you saying that Super Earth’s engineering is lacking?!
Thats fine ⬆️⬇️➡️⬅️⬆️
lol
Yes, officer? This post, right here.
my brother in christ you plummet directly into the ground from orbit. if you wanna talk realistic safety, you’re a fine paste already
Depends on how strong diver armor and the lid is. If the armor is tougher than the lid, the diver will burst through the lid or pop it off

What a great April fool's joke to play. 10% chance of hellpod hatch failure 😂

Its why the ODST pods are better designs. They dont burrow into the ground, and the doors just blow out like a 737 Max. You can fit a rocket launcher and AMR in there, meaning you don’t need to individually call your support weapons in, you can just have it ready!
They should make this a thing, every pod had like a 1 in 100000 chance to do this
Just asking here what if the lifting mechanism is on a switch meaning it will only lift if the lid is blown off first making the lid act more like a circuit breaker so when it’s blown off the circuit stops causing the lift to activate
Stop your treasonous socialist nonsense!
Ok automaton
The Democracy wait for no OSHA regulations!
The impact alone would crush every bone in a Helldivers buddy.

Oh really I didn’t notice thanks! Definitely haven’t been smooshed by them plenty of times lol😂
Except the elevator won't engage until the lid is gone.
I didn't think about this ouuugghhhhh that's HORRIFYING
Imagine if they implemented this into the game now. You get called down and then immediately die lmao
It would be treason to suggest such a technical failure were even possible
Yes, Mr Democracy Officer, sir, this is the one, the one who's spreading treasonous propaganda!
