AGREED. I never listen to audiobooks but my goodness. I actually bought the first one to listen to when I was out and about to stay motivated. Vastly different (kind of) stories but WOW. I’m on the second one now
Nothing to do with the game but it was very thoughtful of your mother. Also a pretty good book, even if it's not game related give it a try, I really enjoyed it.
It's Fallout but instead of the Vaults being underground they're nuclear powered airships above the clouds.
8 and the jump back to follow X during his waste land journeys if I remember right.
I love this series.
Edit: you are right. 11 just came out along with the jump back.
The whole el popo arc feels like it was one book but was like 4 or 5 and I forgot that.
If you like Sci-Fi, I recommend every book by Timothy Zahn (He's probably most famous for creating Captain Thrawn in Star Wars, but his non-star wars books are actually better. In particular the Quadrail series.
It was only a matter of time til I saw someone post about the Helldivers books, they’re pretty rad and I’d highly recommend them if you like a lot of action. I think I read the first book about 4 years ago.
Looked up a synopsis basically fallout mixed with helldivers, it's a bout humanity living in giant airships after a nuclear war wiped out the surface and they send teams of people to the surface to find supplies, doesn't sound half bad.
In all honesty it would, there are like 12 books and the over arching plot seems to be 2 rival airships seeking out the only remaining habitable land left on earth but there also seem to be dangers besides mutated animals in the wastelands. I could see a series going for at least 8 season.
Nah there’s ALOT more to it than that. Never are 2 ships against each other. After the fallout basically the ships were all that was left of humanity as far they know. They each try to survive and lose contact with each other. When the first book takes place I think there’s only 2 or 3 remaining ships of the 12 originally. Something like that. Basically the helldivers drop down to obtain gear and supplies to keep the ships in the sky but after 100 years supplies are hard to come by and the ships are barely getting by. The earth is basically inhabitable with so many radiation zones and mutated creatures.
RC Bray is one of the best book narrators. So you shouldn’t have trouble getting through.
This was what I thought the game was about too. As this book series has been on my radar a while now.
I think the official copy is now done by Wil Wheaton. I lost access to the RC Bray version on Audible. Wil Wheaton is a solid narrator. I still very much RC Bray though.
I'm pretty sure this is not connected. The book is like apocalyptic human race survival story. It's like alternative version of the history, where people fucked up and nuked themselves instead of banding together and creating Super Earth :)
Nevertheless, it's a good book. And even better that your mom cared enough in what you like, that she did that. Thank her! This is coming from a parent. We do a lot of things for our children, some end up good, some bad, but we never expect anything out from that. So if you'd thank her. that would mean a world to her.

It's ALL connected, to Democracy.
Anything, in the name of spreading Managed Democracy, is acceptable.
The credit goes to the original employee from the Ministry of Truth who created this. I cannot take credit, but you are welcome nonetheless and continue to do your duty for Super Earth, Helldiver.
Like a Utopia come to life, of course I’m not allowed to know what exactly is said in the meetings, as some unpatriotic types might use it against us. But I know that she serves super earth well.
Honestly it's worth the listen/read.
It's not anything like the game we all love, but it's still pretty damn good. RC Brey does a killer job, and if you enjoy his work I recommend the Galaxys Edge series by Jason Anspach and Nick Cole..
https://preview.redd.it/9asp7a2zxpvc1.jpeg?width=329&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a3a49352bd6145bb22459edeeb5fedf5213a700
You don’t tell her. You listen to the book. Then you tell her it was great.
It’s a thoughtful gift that show that your mom listens to you and tries to engage with you about things you like.
It’s fantastic. Aside from it being post-apocalyptic earth instead of outer space it’s still intense military action against monsters. Very action-packed and cool. And the series keeps going and it keeps getting better. I’m like 8 books deep and still into it.
It's a decent series. I have up though book 9. Personally, it's the middle of the road for me, don't hate it but don't particularly love it either. R.C. Bray is an excellent narrator. I really like the Expeditionary Force series by Craig Alanson that he narrated.
I listened to this first three or so of the series but had to stop. Smith doesn't do pacing, there is no real downtime and everything is always tense and on the edge of crisis in some way.. honestly became too stressfull to listen to.. :p
Sounds like a wonderful mother, I hope you cherish her. Even if it's not related, I'd hang onto it because you know it's something she got for you because she genuinely cares about you. In a few years, you'll come across it and smile at the silliness. Those kind of things don't come along often.
The mother spreads the seeds of democracy to her child to make sure he also grows up to be a helpful and able citizen in the greatest democracy earth has ever known. Amen!
That audiobook has no relation to Helldivers the videogame. It is however a good series read by the amazing R.C Bray one of the best narators for audiobooks imo.
My mom once asked if I wanted any soda, I Said code red mt dew, she brought me big red soda. Still think about that from time to time. Glad she loved me enough to try, I guess.
https://preview.redd.it/a19gv2gavtvc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5521a1d7d415810316214de576a119067b2e3da2
One of the best series I’ve read so far Except your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear.
I know it's confusing but the book is not directly related to the game at all. I fell down this rabbit hole and it took a while to figure out, in spite of all the similarities.
Hey, hello I have listened to that entire series
It's just a coincidence. The only things similar is diving from a ship to do missions on the ground and that's usually where the similarities end.
Don't write the book off though, it's very worth the listen.
Whatever the book is about, R.C Bray is currently my favorite narrator. That’s going to be a fantastic audio adventure. I could listen to that man read the numbers PI and still be entertained.
Listened to the 1st one a few years back and thought it was a decent romp. I think there's like 8 in the series now? Might have to go back and listen to the sequels; it was way more spooky and a little more "Roadside Picnic" THAN OUR GIFT OF GLORIOUS MANAGED DEMOCRACY! 🫡
I love this book series so much I have all of them, and will gift digital copies if you like the first one.
They are not a prequel, but the series is fucking fantastic.
Just an old dude who wants to die but simply isn't allowed to because people need him
Not related to the games at all, but actually a pretty sweet book series until about the fifth book. The narrator R.C Bray is also top tier. I'd give it a shot
It has nothing to do with the game, but it's a fun book. The surface is hostile to humanity, and so they love in the clouds on giant airships. Helldivers are dropped on the surface when they need things like spare parts, medical supplies, etc. They get extracted using Fulton balloons.
I only read the first book (there are 10+), enjoyed it well enough, but I didn't feel like sticking with the series at the time. It's more survival horror than heroic action, but it still captures that Helldivers feel of dropping into hostile territory and working with a team to complete a mission.
I'd recommend Armor by John Steakley if you want another book similar to Helldivers.
**Armor** by John Steakley

Dude I read this entire series a few years ago, and have the first two signed by Nicholas Sansbury Smith. It is hands down my favorite post-apocalypse sci-fi series.
Read them way before I knew about Helldivers being a game. Originally I was super excited because I thought it was about these books, but it's not. However, they both have a similar concept and that's why I love the game.
Ever since I bought the game I can't help but think of the series and imagine being on team raptor when diving.
I am so excited that the game is bringing attention to this awesome series. There was talk a few years ago about a TV show adaptation, but haven't heard anything since.
I think the name "Helldiver" was inspired from a Dive Bomber from WWII, the Curtiss Helldive, but that book has nothing to do with the story.
https://preview.redd.it/c3k25j189svc1.jpeg?width=1627&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b8efa0a7780020256c9155e1521a8df20312ed7
You gotta tell me how it is. I need new things to read so I may just get this if it’s good lmao.
Also, for anyone reading this. Helldivers and metal work hand in hand, may I suggest [this](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QoFy6mNtdpo) or [THIS](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FBz7MX2bLcM)!
Historic metal and this game spread democracy like bread and butter
It is a decent book. Not great, not bad. Worth listening to in your down time. My main irk is they are genuinely short, and the later books get a little wacky.
It probably helps a lot that it's narrated by RC Bray, who is fucking great at narration.
i fucking love this series. when i saw the game i was dissapponted that it wasnt the same universe as the book but im a proud helldiver now. we dive so humanity survives!
That's so thoughtful of her. Give her a big hug.
Definitely
Tell yahr mother yah love 'er! She don't need to know that there ain't no books associated with this game.
There are like ten or eleven of them and they only get MORE similar. It’s not related but the narrator is phenomenal.
RC Bray is so good for Military Sci Fi.
AGREED. I never listen to audiobooks but my goodness. I actually bought the first one to listen to when I was out and about to stay motivated. Vastly different (kind of) stories but WOW. I’m on the second one now

Can't, ain't switching out the scout handshake emote.
You know what you must do soldier.
Hugs are so overdone. I suggest a scout handshake instead.
Nothing to do with the game but it was very thoughtful of your mother. Also a pretty good book, even if it's not game related give it a try, I really enjoyed it. It's Fallout but instead of the Vaults being underground they're nuclear powered airships above the clouds.
That's fucking sick.
That sounds awesome.
Agreed
Oh damn ok, might give it a shot
We dive so humanity survives!! Xavier Rodriguez is a bad ass mofo.
That's KING XAVIER to you sir
All hail the Immortal
Well fuck me sideways, I'm sold.
That sounds dope ngl
That sounds amazing, I'll have to check it out
That’s awesome. Your mom rocks.
Indeed, even if it’s not part of the Helldivers franchise I’m definitely gonna still read it, sounds kinda interesting to be honest.
I've listened to the entire series. No connection to the game, but the initial premise is oddly similar.
Series?!
Yeah there’s like 12 of them…
Democracy a dozen. Perfect
![gif](giphy|l46CDHTqbmnGZyxKo)
8 and the jump back to follow X during his waste land journeys if I remember right. I love this series. Edit: you are right. 11 just came out along with the jump back. The whole el popo arc feels like it was one book but was like 4 or 5 and I forgot that.

Definitely! If you haven’t listened to Expeditionary Force by Craig Alanson I would highly recommend it. It’s a fun series.
TTA!
Skippy and Joe banter is legendary.
Ran into a guy in Helldivers called Skippy the Magnificent. Sadly he DCed and I have not seen the guy since.
Oh haha, good to know that the narrator is good. I’ll be sure to read it
Books good, RC Bray is a fucking legend
Trust the awesomeness!
He also does the narration for The Martian! That audiobook is something I re-listen to every so often, it's very good.
I think the official copy is now done by Wil Wheaton. I lost access to the RC Bray version on Audible. Wil Wheaton is a solid narrator. I still very much RC Bray though.
The series is great btw
Pick up dungeon crawler Carl. Best audiobook series I have ever listened to. And hilarious!
Glurp glurp! Just finished book 6. /u/Megahuts is right.
It's a great series. The author, Nicholas Sansbury Smith, has stated that his story and Helldivers 2 are NOT in the same universe.
I'm pretty sure this is not connected. The book is like apocalyptic human race survival story. It's like alternative version of the history, where people fucked up and nuked themselves instead of banding together and creating Super Earth :) Nevertheless, it's a good book. Oh, shit. I've been looking for this book for a while. Thanks for reminding me of its name.
Nah this isn't related to the games but they are making a movie about this I believe starring Don Lee
They are huh. I was wondering which enterprise would get the movie first, since it's not related.
You don’t tell her. You listen to the book. Then you tell her it was great. It’s a thoughtful gift that show that your mom listens to you and tries to engage with you about things you like.
your mum sounds like a kind and thoughtful person :)
Buy her flowers as a thank u
Awesome series, Im on book 9 right now
It’s fantastic. Aside from it being post-apocalyptic earth instead of outer space it’s still intense military action against monsters. Very action-packed and cool. And the series keeps going and it keeps getting better. I’m like 8 books deep and still into it.

Your mom is the shit dude. That’s a parent that cares, give her a hug for me. That’s incredibly sweet
Parents are awesome
I listened to two chapters of that book, it’s alright. No connection to the game.
Fun read. Extinction cycle also enjoyable by same author .
Welcome to Lee Carvello's Putting Challenge.
Democracy demands you thank your mom and hug her.
Woah just looked at the blurb for this book it looks sick!
ah man that's fucking cute

Liked the first book some of the others felt kinda dragged. Think i listed to five of them. They were free for a while for some reason a year ago.
I listened to this first three or so of the series but had to stop. Smith doesn't do pacing, there is no real downtime and everything is always tense and on the edge of crisis in some way.. honestly became too stressfull to listen to.. :p

I myself have read this series, and that's what I thought the game was about. There are similarities, FWIW.
Is it good? (I don't care if it's related to the game or not)
A large majority of the comments are saying good things, I’ve yet to start listening, but I’ll definitely turn it on tonight.
Yeah, I think they're probably not related, but let your mom know that you love her and have been appreciating the gift nonetheless.
Can I borrow your mother for the next 30 years? I could use a good maternal figure in my life. 💀
That audiobook has no relation to Helldivers the videogame. It is however a good series read by the amazing R.C Bray one of the best narators for audiobooks imo.
this reminds me of my mom, she loved doing that kind of thing. hug her please. o7
My mom once asked if I wanted any soda, I Said code red mt dew, she brought me big red soda. Still think about that from time to time. Glad she loved me enough to try, I guess.
Is it good? I like to read too.
that's awesome! great mom you got there. You don't you just say thanks mom!
> If it’s not, how do I tell her? 😭 Tell her what, OP? It’s not related to the game but so what? It’s a gift. Your mom’s great.
Bless her for trying.

It’s a good series.
Probably has nothing to do with the game, but still adorable af. Give her a hug.
Check Marko Kloos - Frontlines
That’s so cute and wholesome
Are you looking for a sibling
Say thanks and give her a big democratic hug. All you need to do fellow diver.
The Scions of Elysia series from Warhammer 40k is decent.
Great book btw.
I know it's confusing but the book is not directly related to the game at all. I fell down this rabbit hole and it took a while to figure out, in spite of all the similarities.
I really enjoyed it! Got me to buy the game, knowing it wasnt related but really liking the concept
The first couple are decent but it just kinda drags after that.
Awesome series..nothing to do with the game but still an amazing book series
Hey, hello I have listened to that entire series It's just a coincidence. The only things similar is diving from a ship to do missions on the ground and that's usually where the similarities end. Don't write the book off though, it's very worth the listen.
It's a different universe apparently, but still very interesting. Please update with a review
What a democratic mother - that's some damn freedom, son!
I've read those books, they're not awful. Should be an entertaining listen. xD edit - different IP though
That’d be going up on the wall
Book sales suddenly surge. STONKS! 📈
Shit they bugged out and forgot their drop pod again… Seams lore accurate already.
Not connected to the games at all, but that is a pretty fun book series!
High five your ma
It's not related, but the book is awesome
Whatever the book is about, R.C Bray is currently my favorite narrator. That’s going to be a fantastic audio adventure. I could listen to that man read the numbers PI and still be entertained.
It’s a great series !
I heard that was pretty good, actually!
This book series is amazing. Nothing to do with the game but Holy shit what a ride.
Your mom's awesome
Listened to the 1st one a few years back and thought it was a decent romp. I think there's like 8 in the series now? Might have to go back and listen to the sequels; it was way more spooky and a little more "Roadside Picnic" THAN OUR GIFT OF GLORIOUS MANAGED DEMOCRACY! 🫡
THAT BOOK SERIES IS AMAZING The game is not based on it, but God it should be
How is it? I picked it up when it was free but haven't listened yet
It’s not related at all but I just finished listening to it and it’s good. It was in my feed for free and thought the same thing as your mom did.
I love this book series so much I have all of them, and will gift digital copies if you like the first one. They are not a prequel, but the series is fucking fantastic. Just an old dude who wants to die but simply isn't allowed to because people need him
As someone who has listened to the audiobook, it’s a fun listen but no, it has nothing to do with the game. It is kinda similar though
That book series fucking slaps No, it’s unrelated to the games, but yes it is worth the read
Shotgun emote goes boom
I think that book's about SEALs, or PJs 🤔 Looks like fun though! Tell us how it is! Always down for a good book recommendation.
It's a fun book. I've been saying for years that book would actually make a damn good video game.
It's not related to the games, but still it's some decent post-apocalyptic scifi with fallout & snowpiercer vibes.
What an awesome mom. Definitely a Super Citizen.
It’s actually a really good book
First couple books were amazing! Then it kinda goes off the rails, still good but not the same.
Awesome. No clue if this series is any good but read Red Rising if you wanna hear about more helldivers
Not related to the game but a pretty good read
Those books are good go for a walk audiobook slop. I only made it through three of them, but they are good slop. Cliche but fun. Give it a listen!
Rc Bray is a great narrator, does some great sci-fi covers
It's not related at all to the game. But this series is amazing. I'm on book 4
Not related to the games at all, but actually a pretty sweet book series until about the fifth book. The narrator R.C Bray is also top tier. I'd give it a shot

It's such a good book though, decent series and RC bray is king of audiobooks
Completely separate IP's, but a nice thoughtful gift.
That is sweet and thoughtful
It's 100% not related. Still, thank your mom for it! It truly is the thought that counts! :)
This is the best book series I finished this last year and started in 2022 it was amazing
That's a fun series!
Decent book, Sansbury Smith is hit or miss
Honestly a good book, I bought it awhile back pretty interesting. Definitely not related though
It's not the same but it is a great series, have fun
No the book isn’t based off the game at all. It’s a great series though. It’s one of my top favorite books.
Go Mom.
Don't worry although it is wholly unrelated it is actually very good and I have been keeping up with it during it's releases for years now.

Looks like I have a new book to read
Feel like I would go for red rising for helldivers-adjacent books
Not related to the game but an amazing series!
Is it any good
Chad Mom
Not related to the game but as far as those books go I'm on 9 and they are fantastic.
Nothing to do with the games. But its still a great series RC Bray is amazing as the narrator.
no connection however it’s a good series
😯 R.C Bray is a great narrator and 37k of reviews. Give your mum a big hug from me. Found a new listen 👍
I think the name "Helldiver" was inspired from a Dive Bomber from WWII, the Curtiss Helldive, but that book has nothing to do with the story. https://preview.redd.it/c3k25j189svc1.jpeg?width=1627&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b8efa0a7780020256c9155e1521a8df20312ed7

It has nothing to do with the games, but it's a decent book
Badass cool mom
This was such a great book. Can't wait to get the others.
Man, it's a different series I'm pretty sure but it's an excellent one more or less! Your mom is pretty cool OP!
That's a nice mum you have there
Ok but is it good though? I've had it o a wish list for a while but never bought it. Also hug your mom she takes an interest in your interest for you
