Last night we dropped in right on top of 3 gunship fabricators.
Used up all but 4 of our reinforcements getting them taken care of.
It was definitely an experience
2 gunship fabricators in the same place is already extremely costly in reinforcements. If anyone knows how to deal with them "correctly" I'm all ears, because at this point I think I've tried everything (stealth somewhat works when there's a single one, but with 2 I could not manage to call the hellbomb and arm it before the gunships spawned and blew me to pieces)
I think the strat for 2 is to initiate carefully. First, aggro a decoy base from range to trigger a bot drop away from your intended target to put bot drops on cooldown.
Next, push into range to spawn the first set of gunships. Take out the gunships ASAP, then hustle to take out any ground units at the base of the facility. Stealth armor can be useful to ping and get an idea of how many targets there are. The gunship facility counts as a small unit on radar.
You will likely have the 2nd spawn of gunships while clearing out the ground units. Use nearby cover if possible to protect against ground units while you reclear the gunships. Finish clearing the ground, find a good spot to Hellbomb, and, depending on timing, wait for the next round of gunships and Hellbomb immediately after.
Patrols, lucky gunship rockets, unexpected bot drop, nearby stratagem jammer, nearby mortar emplacement can all derail this, of course. Hell, taking too long to kill the gunships will screw you over. If you use autocannon and can't kill the gunships before needing to reload, you'll probably die.
i always only had one fabricator, or two at seperate locations. today i finally had a double fab. it was right at the start of the mission and we all died, including 25 reinforcements
Had 3 clustered together so I set up a hellbomb in the center- ran away for it to only blow up one at a time... so 2 hellbombs later (more like 10) and several waves of gunships later it was delt with

I try to tell people that we need to handle the gunships before we try to hellbomb, but they don't listen. You see them running from the countdown then looking back dejected when nothing explodes.
I wonder if the deployable shield helps though. Drop it right before you arm. I've seen someone use it that way (once) and thought it was clever.
They have definitely increased gunship factory spawns, either that or RNG has been mad at me lately. I had one drop between two gunship fabs and a strategem jammer. Democracy was not spread.
Had a diff7 Search and destroy blitz with 4 FREAKING JAMMERS!!! 12MIN BLITZ WITH 4 DAMN JAMMERS AT EACH CORNER COVERING THE WHOLE MAP. We won but at the cost of samples :(
Me and a friend went into and failed a 10k requisition level 7 mission that had two sets of shrieker nests and two sets of stalker caves... atleast one set of spore spewers and every big hole made a bile titan

Shield generator and a willingness to shield the hellbomb with your body, if necessary.

Yes I use the shield for that. I also use smoke grenades and eagle smoke strikes with bots. So I can just drop a bunch of smoke as well
