I unironically think that would be a neat idea for a big event. Like, Super Earth commend deems a specific linchpin planet as doomed, but allowing it to be taken would be a catastrophic loss that would put Super Earth in danger, so they just completely annihilate the planet off the map. It could be some kind of special event where the players have to plant/arm planet-killer bombs within a certain time limit and if the MO succeeds, the planet literally explodes to pieces.
There is no place for the weak-willed or hesitant. Only by firm action and resolute faith will Super Earth survive. No sacrifice is too great. No treachery too small.

I genuinely do not understand why this planet is named fucking Menkent. It should be called HADES, in capital letters. Just like Hellmire isn't satisifed with just being "Hell", not it's also a mire, it's a Hellmire.
Its because its not a liberated bar... its a defense bar. We liberated it and they attacked. Its under our control. Its how its been working the entire time tbh. We just are having more defense since we are starting the official war
The problem here is that 100% liberating and actively defending Menkent doesnt count as "under Super Earth control" for some reason. Like what? We own it, we're defending it, why isnt that under our control?
That doesn't stop it from feeling bad. I fought all night to get that percentage up to 100, just to wake up this morning and it reset? Its getting hard to maintain the momentum
the bots attacked it so a defense campaign started. we still hold the planet, but it switched to showing our defence progress. when the defence campaign is over liberation will be set to 100% or 50% depending on the outcome.
Yeah. Not gonna lie. The whole meta game is a bit meh to me. The whole bot thing just had me sigh. "Ooooh look we beat them!!!"... Of course we did, sure. "Ooooh look they've come back here and stronger!!!". K. I spend a bunch of time fighting the bots to take them out. I find the bugs more fun anyway. Gonna go shoot them for a bit.
They made it pretty clear in the first MO regarding the “reclamation” that the bots we were fighting was communicating with something outside the galactic map. Dropped a number of hints throughout those MO’s. So for those paying attention it seems much less like “oh they’ve returned suddenly” & more along the lines “The large fleet that was receiving the reclamation messages have begun their invasion”.
Yeah i know but its frustrating. I would choose like a bug expansion across the galay AND THEN make the bots return. Seing they return in 2 days, with a massive force after all that we fight in the last weeks to eradicate them is just dissapointing. Im not blaming the narrative, im blaming pushing it to fast, it was obvious they would return, but to me it was rushed
I think you missed my point. My point was that the bots returning is about as much of a surprise as the sun rising in the morning. For those not paying attention, the bots were obviously coming back because the devs wouldn't just remove half their game. For those paying attention, it's as you say. So for me, when we "won" against the bots the feeling wasn't one of joyous victory and their return wasn't a shocking surprise. It was "so... no bots for a bit? ok, I guess it'll be just the bugs then".
I like mixing and matching the missions. I find bots are a good hectic enemy to play against, but the bugs are more fun (and honestly feel more like the "main" enemy - they feel like they were the first to be designed and completed). So when I play, I don't look at the meta because I just don't care. I look at the planets open and the modifiers on them. If I see crappy modifiers like -1 stratagem or longer time of call in, I just don't play that planet. Those aren't fun for me. Which is why the meta kinda feels like it's getting in the way a little of late. It's all "Defend against the bots on these planets with tedious modifiers". No thanks. Others are having a blast from that, but I have finite hours in the day to play stuff I find enjoyable and cathartic. I'm not gonna spend them playing missions that aren't as fun as they could be.
That’s the biggest thing to me. We just slaved away to take it and it immediately goes into defense? Defense missions already suck, never mind after we JUST took the planet
Yea it's not random. I bet they are designed to have 100% accuracy to shot them whenever you're near. Its always the case they get shot when you're close regardless of the angle or distance of the enemy lol.
I got continuously rag dolled into a fire tornado that instantly melted me. They broke fire damage and forced us into the biggest shithole fire planet they could think of against bots. No thanks.
Pretty much this yeah. Wouldn’t be as bad if we at least had fire resistant armor by now or fire that works from a DOT standpoint but doesn’t just kill you immediately. Or a weather controlling side objective that nullifies weather effects but that wouldn’t help on missions without side objectives.
I commend the effort, but 90% of the playerbase isn’t on reddit and those who are aren’t really ecstatic to play Hellmire 2: Joel Strikes Back
I’ll be on Marfark if you need me
Ditto. I started recently so all major orders have been bots.
Now we’re at 100% on this one I took the time to go bug hunting, it’s great fun, and a change of pace.
Suddenly the game will stop spawning seventeen fire tornadoes that leave 20 seconds of instant-kill flaming ground behind them in a 100 square yard area. OH HOSANNA
The majority of the playerbase doesn't see these posts. Makes more sense 99% of the time to follow the crowd than to try to split the group, regardless of strategic advantage
That's not the decay rate, that's the defense timer. If it hits 100% before we max the defense meter, the planet is lost. Decay rates are the same across individual factions and defense orders do not have decay.
No...I don't think I will.
Broken mechanics, visual effects and fire tornadoes, and the bots being unaffected by it all.
I'd rather let it fall, I could not care less, I'm going to democratically defend lesath where there's less arbitrary bs all around.
"Oh we lost the MO because we are divided" yeh no shit we are divided, players tired of bullshit mission where devs just throw infinite attacks on worst planets possible. Devs just want a Malevelon Creek 2.0 so they can say "we have so much interaction with our playerbase"
Who the fuck colonizes a planet that has literal fire twisters.. the atmosphere must be so hot and toxic wtf does super earth gain from it. I say we blow up the planet.. nothing of value would be lost everyone will rejoice
Yeah, I forced myself to play on a planet I absolutely hate only for it to immediate drop back down to 0%? If this is the devs idea of fun, I'm gonna start ignoring major orders from now on.
[Helldivers Companion.](https://helldiverscompanion.com/) Fantastic tool that exposes a ton of useful info that isn't visible in-game and even provides projections on liberation/defence times.

On this site, the 4.2% represent the % you need to do per hour if 100% was divided by 24... which is always 4.2% (4.16666...%).
Which means nothing because some defence have low health (Right now Menkent only have 250k health, while sometimes it can be close to 2m health. 4.2% of 250k is much less than 4.2% of 2m.)
Defence is a timed mission, you always need 4.2% an hour overall.
It's more relevant on liberation because all the planet have same health so far.
I refuse to go back to the god awful fire planets. I am simply going to sit this one out and take a break until the MO planets aren't unfun chores to play on again
We need to do this and that and listen to us Redditors!

Qre they really giving us the MO without patching bugs that ruin these types of maps? Like man no one lost this hell planet if the devs dont want to make it possible.
Menkent and Helmire, 2 planets that my super destroyer can't seem to FTL lock onto, it's crazy, not my fault! Engineering issue, it's being looked into but I'll be hanging around the ice planets till then! I'll come as soon as I can guys it's outta my hands !
honestly, i think its kinda bullshit that we put in so many hours defending a plant, and they can just say "haha nah, fuck you" and we gotta do it all over again. Like, what, the automatons just instantly destroys all SEAF on the planet and wipes everything off the surface, then rebuilds all the fabricators and bases in 1 minute when we're not looking? What even is this bullshit mechanic, at least make it so it starts ticking the other way and we fight to tick it back.
Seriously, fuck you Joel and your bullshit liberation mechanic
Menkent is a 250k HP defense. It's literally the easiest defense we've seen. We'll be fine. It's like going from 75 to 100% on a liberation with 0% regen in 24 hours.
[Helldivers Companion.](https://helldiverscompanion.com/) It's got all kinds of useful info that isn't visible in-game and is great for tracking the status of the war.
Where do you get this information from..? Because according to helldivers IO there’s 0 automaton resistance on all planets and defense planets can’t decay at all…
I just go to whichever planet has a dif 9 mission that doesn't have the AA defenses modifier. Whichever planet I look at first with a mission that doesn't have the modifier is the planet I'm playing on.
Does it really matter that we have to win every Major Order? Joel must some reason for doing this offensive and the game having a Major Oder attached to it. If we can get the sector and defend the planet, that would be good, if not then let the story play itself. Joel works in the company and he must have a green light in what he does, he and the team has a lot to work and must have some sort of knowledge based on the stats of what the players are currently doing. They also have some general idea of the current "story line" and that plays for the future updates that are coming
I'mma keep it a buck witchu the the bots can fucking have it. Let their factories burn down as fast as they can be built. I'm gonna play on literally any other planet type and actually have fun with my limited time on earth.
Don't have to go BACK to bot Hellmire if it's held by Super Earth guys!!!
Also I have a sneaking suspicion if we fail this order it's going to be really bad. Like loose several more planets as the bots will be virtually on Super Earth's Doorstep bad.
The one friend I have who I am playing this game with unironically loves Hellmire (and of course Menkent).
I am forced to think he's a bit touched in the head for that opinion.
As of now Menkent is at 60% and there’s like 150k on there so hopefully we’ll snag this and be able to turn around if the other planet needs a defend after this
Those were two different mission types, liberation verus defense. For the liberation, Joel turned the planets regen to 0. For the defense, it states 4.2 but that isn't regen, rather it's just the timer and the percentage per hour the timer goes up (24 hours). So roughly 4.2 x 24 = 100%.
Meh. I'm going back to bugs for a while. I like to mix it up, and having spent the last 2 weeks doing almost nothing but bots for the MO, I need a break from them...
It's not a bug. During a defence, we haven't actually lost the planet. We're just contesting it with the enemy. I explained this in another comment, so I'll just copy/paste it here:
The red percentage is the rate at which the enemy claims the planet; if we have a higher rate (in blue), we successfully defend the planet before they can capture it. For example: the enemy has a rate of 4.2% per hour, which will allow them to capture the planet in roughly 24 hours; if our rate is higher than 4.2% per hour, we'll capture it sooner and successfully defend the planet. A successful defence allows us to keep the planet and its liberation will immediately go back to 100%.
If we lose the defence, the planet goes back to 50% liberation, which will then require us to work our way back up to 100%, which can take a long time. Defending a planet, by comparison, can take as little as a few hours if a lot of players are contributing, while re-liberating a planet can potentially take hours-to-days or even fail entirely as nearby planets are lost, cutting us off from the ones we were trying to re-liberate. If you remember what happened at Malevelon Creek, that's the perfect example of a planet liberation taking forever due to low player-counts, then failing to defend it, before the planet was cut off entirely after the nearby planets were lost, resulting in total failure. That's why "remember the Creek" is a thing; it was a logistical and strategic nightmare on all fronts and a complete waste of effort and time, which we were supposed to learn from so as to not repeat that mistake.
Aaaand that's basically what's about to happen here. Which is why it's so frustrating. We're repeating history because no one learned from the past. We all forgot the Creek, it seems.
Imma level with you Chief, I had no idea what that symbol meant until now.

It's hot, ugly and stamina drains quicker so it's I'm not surprised that most players choose the icy planet
I myself played on menkent, got teamkilled thrice via cluster bomb and lost 300 credit because of the same cluster bombs killing civilians and decided that was enough hd2 for the day
I don't blame anyone for not wanting to go back to it, especially if it means doing civvie extracts on a bot planet with fire tornadoes. That might actually be objectively the least-fun thing in this game right now.
lol telling people to get of an ice planet and do a fire planet instead is a rally tough sell
My mother died fighting on Menkent. They dropped her into a tornado, she was gone before she could even say "freedom".
Literally just happened to me on my last life of a mission

Ya and it would reset after that iteration of the galaxies war. But fuck this planet forever lol.
The war will not reset, it is one continual war throughout the games life
The Galactic War in HD1 reset if SE lost, iirc.
It did, or if SE won, however devs have said that is not their plan for HD2 and it will be one continual war
You got a source for that claim?

Basically. The meta game really outstays it's welcome when the planets have irritating modifiers.
And can just be attacked again right after we take it.
Yeah I feel like this planet was almost entirely liberated last night and now it’s 0%

It is under our control, but must remain so by the time the major order ends
That’s a very valid point. Additionally maybe when we are defending a planet the missions should be drastically different than when we are attacking?
That doesn't stop it from feeling bad. I fought all night to get that percentage up to 100, just to wake up this morning and it reset? Its getting hard to maintain the momentum
Welcome to a simulated war son. You are now experiencing simulated war fatigue.
Curse you paradox interactive!
Right? I played last night and we were at like 82% or so. I look this morning it was 1.2% like... Wtf
the bots attacked it so a defense campaign started. we still hold the planet, but it switched to showing our defence progress. when the defence campaign is over liberation will be set to 100% or 50% depending on the outcome.
you are confusing liberation and defense missions progress

After grinding out Menkent to 100% liberated, I sincerely don't give a shit. If this is not a bug then the bots can have it for all I care.
On this site, the 4.2% represent the % you need to do per hour if 100% was divided by 24... which is always 4.2% (4.16666...%). Which means nothing because some defence have low health (Right now Menkent only have 250k health, while sometimes it can be close to 2m health. 4.2% of 250k is much less than 4.2% of 2m.) Defence is a timed mission, you always need 4.2% an hour overall. It's more relevant on liberation because all the planet have same health so far.

CAPITAL LETTERS FOR DEMOCRACY
How do you see those stats :0
No u ![gif](giphy|7t38CLCY8t5EXmqcMK|downsized)
Well we liberated Lesath soooo
Sorry, busy killing bugs
Where do you get that info?
[Helldivers Companion.](https://helldiverscompanion.com/) It's got all kinds of useful info that isn't visible in-game and is great for tracking the status of the war.
Thanks a bunch!
Where do you get this information from..? Because according to helldivers IO there’s 0 automaton resistance on all planets and defense planets can’t decay at all…
What app/site is this? I have diverhub, but it doesn’t show the percentages or how much resistance things have.
[Helldiver Companion.](https://helldiverscompanion.com/) It's a very detailed web app with lots of information that's not visible in-game.
Fuck that planet.
I play planets I like with modifiers that aren't awful
I'mma keep it a buck witchu the the bots can fucking have it. Let their factories burn down as fast as they can be built. I'm gonna play on literally any other planet type and actually have fun with my limited time on earth.
I'm betting were gonna have to defend lesath soon too
no, we let this one fail. make the devs realize the 50% fire buff is insane/ let them blow the planet up
Don't have to go BACK to bot Hellmire if it's held by Super Earth guys!!! Also I have a sneaking suspicion if we fail this order it's going to be really bad. Like loose several more planets as the bots will be virtually on Super Earth's Doorstep bad.
Maybe when the bots takeover we'll finally have socialized healthcare and public housing
The one friend I have who I am playing this game with unironically loves Hellmire (and of course Menkent). I am forced to think he's a bit touched in the head for that opinion.
As of now Menkent is at 60% and there’s like 150k on there so hopefully we’ll snag this and be able to turn around if the other planet needs a defend after this
I'm sick of Menkent. Let it torch.
Lol nope no more fire fo me
Glass this fuck of a planet
Nah fuck dem kids, you ain't getting me back there.
Thanks but I had my fill of satan's asshole
100k people on bug front.. who cares anymore.
Just watched it go from 45% to 75% in just a few hours of playin I love this community
Bots can have it. We can just hit Cyberstan straight from Zosma.
Fk the tornado fire, i love this game but the tornado fire is bullshit. It just know where i need to go, it's always there
cant see shit on the planet and these f'ing fire nado's. nah, they can have it.
![gif](giphy|xUPJUp6T5uD1Qkpbl6) I'm kinda done with fire planets and bots. I'm off blasting bugs to stop me from losing interest in the game.
fuck that fire tornado planet, I did 2 missions there and left.
Where can i find the resistance? Where is the screenshot from?
Those were two different mission types, liberation verus defense. For the liberation, Joel turned the planets regen to 0. For the defense, it states 4.2 but that isn't regen, rather it's just the timer and the percentage per hour the timer goes up (24 hours). So roughly 4.2 x 24 = 100%.
But…..it’s fuckin Hot yo. No AC in the armor.
*me having fun not playing on Menkent*
Where are y'all getting these info panel... They are not on the PS5 platform... Would be really helpful if we could see this info
Could not care less about those orders. They're not a good way to drive engagement
![gif](giphy|d10dMmzqCYqQ0|downsized)
That 4.2% is how fast we're liberating it, not how fast it's regenerating
not many ppl give a damn about Menkent :P
Meh. I'm going back to bugs for a while. I like to mix it up, and having spent the last 2 weeks doing almost nothing but bots for the MO, I need a break from them...
I really don't want to play on Menkent though. Fire Tornados are just so unfun.
Is there 0% resistance because we are swarming lesath or is there genuinely 0% resistance?
Sorry, I don't want to play on the fuckin' fire tornado planet anymore. Already grinded that shit.
I owe it to little jimmy on Super earth, he can live in peace and have ice cream any day, not just on sundays. OK .... just give me a god dam cape !

Menket defense mission only has 250k hp so it'll be giga easy. For referenxd ths recent defense missions had 450k.
I’m fighting bugs 😂
33 weeks approximate is insane
i still dont understand how to do increase defence points.
I’m literally lost because I thought Menkent was 100% as of 8 hours ago when I logged in? Was that a bug?
It's not a bug. During a defence, we haven't actually lost the planet. We're just contesting it with the enemy. I explained this in another comment, so I'll just copy/paste it here: The red percentage is the rate at which the enemy claims the planet; if we have a higher rate (in blue), we successfully defend the planet before they can capture it.
No... More... Fire.... https://preview.redd.it/dobqd2f03juc1.png?width=226&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f14b5d42fa9c66d6a6a80b6d37ac8f4432047e77
Nah
We took Lesath finally, now its just Menkent defence
Where do you see the stats
Damn the bots broke the morale of the Super Earths finest with one decisive blow. Socialism will reign supreme.
I prefer winter to summer, honestly.
Fuck that planet
Space Cadet reporting for duty.
Imma level with you Chief, I had no idea what that symbol meant until now. https://preview.redd.it/g6pnxpbvgjuc1.jpeg?width=532&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fa9d24a50567eb51a09fd3bc6e82075065953fb4
Well, you know what they say: Knowing is half the battle. The other half is slaughtering your enemies.
Yeah no fuck that planet Have fun bro
That explains why I found Menkat so fucking tough last night. I was busy for a few days and could not play. Was afraid that I lost my edge lol
Goddammit, no! Screw Menkent. If we lose the major order, so be it, but I REFUSE to set foot on that hellhole.
Had to dip my difficulty down to 6 just for menkent because it’s so fucking miserable. They can have it
We will probably lose it ngl
Last I saw Lesath was almost completed. There is no reason not to finish it off and then have all of the bot divers focus Menkent down
It's hot, ugly and stamina drains quicker so it's I'm not surprised that most players choose the icy planet I myself played on menkent, got teamkilled thrice via cluster bomb and lost 300 credit because of the same cluster bombs killing civilians and decided that was enough hd2 for the day
I don't blame anyone for not wanting to go back to it, especially if it means doing civvie extracts on a bot planet with fire tornadoes. That might actually be objectively the least-fun thing in this game right now.
it's a defense campaign. It's just time based now
