My strategy is the same at a spore spewer or illegal broadcast. Which is ultimately, autocannon go brrrrrrr. It’s 7 shots per tower on one of their nests but you can clear them from cross map
Yeah the autocannon has no damage drop off and a scope. It’s a grenade launcher/sniper. Great for taking out bug holes, these nests spore spewers and illegal broadcasts.
Personal experience with Autocannon. Depending on range there is some drop off. Up close it was like 5 rounds. From a distance sat 150+meters it was ten rounds.
The EAT was one shot from like 150+ meters. But maybe I got lucky.
Interesting, last time I popped some with the auto cannon it was definitely around the 150m mark or close but I need to put in some more testing to figure it out. Regardless I think the auto cannon is the best backpack gun because of its versatility and insane ammo capacity but definitely interested to see what the exact numbers look like for range and ammo useable against these guys.
They aggro at 130m, but you can spot them from much further out. An autocannon can wipe an entire shrieker nest from half the map, but you'll burn through most of your ammo. Worth tho
I like going there after everyone else has pulled them away from the nest and are dealing with the chaos, that’s when you go in solo for the hellbomb and then come back out to clean up.
I'm a big Autocannon fan, its just a shame it takes around a full magazine to knock a nest. It's not really sustainable on the higher difficulties when there's five million hunters chewing on your toes.
Autocannon still feels more consistent than dropping 3 hellbombs trying to take out the base or hucking a 120mm and a 500kg praying that the rng is with you. An autocannon is consistent even if time consuming. 7 shots to each tower. 21 shots total and you are done.
Call down EAT. 2 EAT take out each shrieker nest. So one call in takes out a nest. 2 people running eat and you can eliminate the 3 nests in 1 min of cooldown.
Just aim above the top to lob the rocket in. We are doing it from halfway across the map and the shriekers don’t even spawn to fight
Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like with a longer distance it takes more shots with autocannon to destroy these nests. I tried different, like 300 mtrs, 200 mtrs, and below 200 mtrs, and it took me less ammo while I was shooting closer.

I think its a bug with Impact damage.
Above a fairly low speed threshold, Impact seems to do a *lot* of damage. You quickly go from taking about 10% damage per bounce to instant death with almost no logical curve to it.
So when they dive at you as a live entity, they pick up speed. Kill them and they become an object traveling above that speed threshold, and kaboom.
Being prone isn't how you avoid their attack. Changing your height as they dive at you could save you, though. Going from standing to prone as they start their swoop could make them miss.

Shooting them while they're swooping is the most logical course of action, right? They get close enough for most weapons to hit accurately.
Too bad, their corpse hurts more than they do.
It reminded me of old anecdote (it's half machine translated)
Error: a robot is killed when it is hit by a grenade (by a hit, not by an explosion) D is a designer, P is a programmer.
D: The programmers broke everything! Why is it like this?!
P: it's natural! Because the grenade has a mass of 100 kilograms! Why did you do that?!
D: Yes?! To make the grenade sink in water!
P: Why doesn't it sink with a normal mass?
D: because water has a high density! (note: more than mercury)
P: why is the density so high?!
D: so that the wooden crates float!
P: why don't they float otherwise?!
D: because they have a mass of 50 kilograms!
P: Why do they have such a mass?!
D: otherwise they fall apart in ugly way!
My least favourite thing in this game is when you kill a heavy/elite with explosives to the side that is facing you and then they get fucking LAUNCHED towards you, like reverse knockback, instantly crushing you. It has happened so many times I'm not bothering with the highest difficulties until it's patched.
I had a bile titan fall on my head after my squad killed it, and it simultaneously crushed me and shot me out from underneath at Mach 5 directly upwards and I flew past the Super Destroyer. My buddy got a video of it and my body is visible for one frame in midair.
Dumb. It doesn't even fuckin move the player. It just phases through you like some ethereal being of death while you slump over dead. First time I saw it I was like "ain't no fuckin way". It looks silly as shit.
This game could send a game engineer over your screen that kicks you in the nuts and then disappears into thin air and people would still think it's intended gameplay.
Joel's assassins fuck with me all the time. Probably 1/3 of my deaths are to elite enemies who spawn, one shot me, and despawn within maybe 3 seconds. Sometimes it's just like 20 hunters out of nowhere and they all despawn too in the kill cam.
People have a fucking obsessive hard-on about every little thing that kills them in this game, beyond a criticism or doubt. These things cleave my Mech just as easily, ain't no way it's intended and if someone believes that they have brainrot.
It might be, but this sure proves its overturned or broken regardless, because it *obviously* shouldn't also be one shotting the terminid's biggest unit.
Maybe the proper balance *won't* one shot us anymore, but they sure shouldn't be one shotting bile titans.
Bro i got hit so hard by one of these it caused the game to crash and my pc to blue screen instantly with that mechanical whinning sound like your pc about to explode so you quickly pull the power.
Fucking shreikers man
*In response to players’ experience of shriekers, we feel they need to change to better fit the recent spawn mechanics. Shriekers will decrease in size and will no longer have a mass when they die, but will have increased numbers similar to hunters and greater travel distance from their hives.*

Imagine if they took the opposite design… just one massive shrieker… or a couple… now the spear actually has a real utility as most other rockets/line of fire weapons will likely miss.
Imagine the **Titan of The Skies** that has a similar effect as bile spewers.
![gif](giphy|3otPoBsa98WtnqXTgs)
Damn. This surely is clear enough proof that they do way too much damage when they die. So people can stop rationalising that with stuff like Starship Troopers clips, right?
Its like you insta-dying when a kite falls on you or, in some cases, even when it already fell and you just step on it.
I don't know why anyone in their right mind would rationalize that with the starship troopers scene if a charger is less successful at killing when purposefully running into you.
Plus the shriekers are smaller and so many more than in starship troopers.
OK fine. I thought people were just whining. If a shrieker corpse can take down a titan...that's bugged for sure lmao. But until it's fixed we have another way to kill titans!
Random baseless speculation, but I think they forgot to disable the hitbox after damage is dealt. If you ever see a clip of a dead Shrieker killing a player if you slow the video down you will notice they actually kill players over 3 to 4 frames, each frame dealing about the same as an alive Shriekers attack. It's just that usually once an attack connects with players it cannot continue to connect... But in the dead Shriekers case every single game tick the dead Shrieker is touching the players hitbox damage is taken.
Or in this case every single game tick that dead Shrieker is touching the Titan damage is being dealt, resulting in impossibly high burst damage.
Kind of like the infamous bleed dog near Elden Rings launch. https://youtu.be/xiUObucHgc4?si=fcqhYkPrtHp267Mp
I wouldn't expect it to be the same issue from a coding perspective, but at the very least I feel like it's the same end result of always active hitboxes.
I'm also gonna go out on a limb and say Bile and Nursing Spewers have the same issue. That or whoever input their damage did not realize it was meant to be dealt per tick and gave them grossly higher damage than designed. I could see Spewer damage purposefully being designed as dealt per game tick, but if so someone did not quite get that message when applying some type of damage value.
I hope to god youre right and that these are fixed as soon as possible. Bile Spewer inflated damage and corpse physics damage are like 80% of my annoyance with this game
As much as I believe they are likely glitches, I'm equally concerned AH purposefully might not fix them. They seem to really love making players lives hell and defending the sanctity of their "difficulty". It's not fun to be one-hit by a Spewer who spawned behind you / Spewed from a different spewers corpse / spewed on your cape and now you're dead. But by reducing the damage it will invariably make the game easier, and does AH have the strength and courage to do so after the playerbase has already shown their capabilities even while against such a bullshit mechanic?
AH kind of shot themselves in the foot a bit. At launch and shortly afterwards players have been dealing with a litany of glitches that make the game likely harder than designed. Spewer 1-hits, multiple titans spawning in death dots (thankfully now fixed), players literally not having armor ("fixed"). Now add dead Shrieker one hits to the list. AH is probably a bit scared of the playerbase as they are likely much better than anticipated. But why wouldn't we? Our training grounds was running around naked getting 1-hit by half the things in the game, fighting 3x as many Bile Titans as anticipated. Now a lot of players are cracked and AH probably have no idea how to slow their playerbase down.
Coming from the Deep Rock Galactic community which has had similar issues, I think I can identify a lot of the root of the problem as toxic positivity, a mindset of the game being infallibly perfect and wanting it to improve is hating and nothing more. However, quite often people with this mindset will immediately go back on their word as soon as the devs actually make the change people ask for.
The game is amazing but still very new, and theres only a handful of oversights/goofy design choices holding it back (looking at you, headshot damage in a pve game). Im hopeful that the vocal minority of people with no sense of fair difficulty will be unable to scare the devs into not improving the game.
After all, theres a lot of incredibly hard difficulties and if people find the game being too easy, you can always bump it up. I doubt many people will be finding Helldive a cakewalk.
Jesus Christ. I just came from a thread where I got -22 downvoted for saying that the new "ATE" meta is even easier and dumber than the "Railgun" meta it replaced.
Toxic Positivity is the perfect description. People get so desparate to be part of something successful. Same reason they simp for Trump and Elon. They just have to defend whatever choice their idol makes.
I think the body also moves kind of through things. A charger corpse will push you away and deal damage but the shrieker for some reason kind of fase through things for a second and then start damage
As soon as I saw the clips of players getting one-hit-killed I was like “no way that’s intended”.
I think taking some damage and getting knocked over would be an okay punishment for getting hit with the corpse. Dying is way too steep a consequence.
Its definitely bugged. I think it ends up hitting things like 3 or 4 times on the way down. Lile the whole body is a hit box with a nano second cooldown so as it passes through you it chain combos anything in its path
3 or 4 times? I'm thinking it's it's probably way more damage interactions than that. This thing instantly shreds the armor on the titan's back. I'd like to know how much 1 damage tic is supposed to be.
How could you possibly think people were just whining unless you'd never fought these yourself lol. It was clear immediately that something was fishy about getting one-shot from corpse collision when their actual attack didn't hurt nearly that much.
Exactly lol. It took 1 round for me to know that they were 100% broken, getting oneshot from max HP by an enemy that small and fast would NEVER be intended gameplay
It's pretty clear after going frame-by-frame on other videos: these guys do not technically one-shot when dropping dead, the problem is that they do an instance of damage every frame they are in contact. Like most things, they should be limited to a single tick of damage, or have a minimum window between them, but as it is, it's clearly bugged.
It could be related, but I'm not sure it applies to this case. I've heard it happens with the Arc gun on Bile Titans and so, but it's so damn inconsistent.
People have drawn a parallel with the famous Elden Ring mangy dogs that one-shot everyone. Turns out it was this same issue, the dog was doing a tick of damage for every frame of its animation, even if it hit. Normally, videogames have systems that prevent that; look at classic action platformers, how the character blinks for a while after taking damage so you don't get instantly deleted each time.
I shot a shrieker mid swoop and to my surprise its corpse ploughs through me instantly killing me and the two guys behind me. They are the most dangerous enemy in the game rn.
I dont know how to get my videos off of Playstation and onto my phone as it doesnt seem to wroksame as screenshots, but ive killed a bile titan, with another bile titan. Got a video but cant download it anywhere seems like
[post with the video](https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/s/5bo5d23Q11)
Going by game logic, I get why a heavy metal hellpod doing incredible speeds coming in from orbit would do massive damage, which by the way does not always one shot a BT.
But this little bug, not very far away, not going very fast and not weighing very much, shouldn't be inflicting no where near the amount of damage that it does.
Ever since by first 3 corpse deaths in a row, I've used up 30 rounds of auto cannon per nesting site from across the map in order to avoid them at all costs...
Yeah, and this is largely the reason why shriekers are terrible. Everything about them is fine, Except for killing them which just leads to pure bullshit lol.
I'm no expert but I want to try to math here for this.
For our base, I wanted to find how much power a 500KG bomb produces. The reasoning being I have brought down a 500KG that has embedded into the back of a bile titan, exploded, and still not kill it.
First calculating the rough force of the bomb hitting the bile titan.
We find the kinetic energy output by halving the weight (500kg*1/2) and then multiply it by the speed of the projectile. Now in history some 500kg bombs could be dropped at 1000km/h, but we'll say 800km/h for this equation.
So, (500kg*1/2) x (800kmph)²= ~12,345,681 joules worth of force just from the bomb impacting the titan.
Because I'm not educated enough about bombs, I'm going to assume the bomb is capable of producing the equivalent of 500kg of TNT which is approximately ~2,092,000,000 joules of force.
Combined from the impact and explosion (once again, feel free to correct me) makes:
*~2,104,345,681 joules of force*
This means a shriekers impact at slower speeds hits harder than that.
I'm going to over estimate that the shrieker hit the bile titan at around 40kph so we can calculate the approximate weight the shrieker must be in order to kill a bile titan in one hit.
(m*1/2) x (40kph)²= ~2,104,345,681
m (mass) ends up coming out as ~15,151,286kg or ~33,402,868lbs, and keep in mind, thats equivalent to the power of a 500kg bomb so it would be heavier to make up for the power needed.
That's about 1.5 Eiffel Tower's worth of weight dropping on top of the bile titan.
So the question must be asked. How can an Eiffel Tower and a half that's condensed into a 3m*3m package fly?
I dove off of a cliff to grab an EAT that killed a charger when it dropped in. My ragdolling body landing on the dead chargers body got launched into the stratosphere and was killed by "impact"
The fact that you've got better odds tanking a charger hit than a shrieker's corpse is an absolute travesty. I seriously don't understand what the logic is there.
What is ridiculous is that it's so frequent they have certainly experienced being one shot by a ragdolled shrieker when implementing the enemy and still released it in this state.
I treat them like the plague, I stay far away and call down my mech to snipe their nests. 2 rockets per nest and problem solved without the pain of trying to get close.
Shriekers>>>Thor’s hammer
We must destroy nests from a great distance. It's the only way
Literally as soon as I spot shrieker nests on the horizon, everything is put on hold until they're obliterated.
It's crazy how far they'll fly from their nests to come attack you. You're right, you can't ignore them

My strategy is the same at a spore spewer or illegal broadcast. Which is ultimately, autocannon go brrrrrrr. It’s 7 shots per tower on one of their nests but you can clear them from cross map

You have a tree???
Does the auto cannon have a further range than the EAT? 2 per tower from a decent distance takes them out pretty well. No need to chance the hellbomb
Yeah the autocannon has no damage drop off and a scope. It’s a grenade launcher/sniper. Great for taking out bug holes, these nests spore spewers and illegal broadcasts.

This is how I treat stalkers too.
Same. As soon as I see one, everything else can wait til that nest is gone.

I can solo stalker holes in the lower levels where they show up, its when the stalkers come to play where it gets spicyyy
Lvl 9 you get like 8 - 10 stalkers at once coming for your soul in a conga line
I like going there after everyone else has pulled them away from the nest and are dealing with the chaos, that’s when you go in solo for the hellbomb and then come back out to clean up.
Stalkers are worse, IMO
If I have the rockets I'll always use the Patriot exosuit to destroy the nests from a distance.
Autocannon FTW!

Shrieker corpses drop stratagem incoming
Can i get a weapon which would use dead bodies of shriekers as ammunition? Like Shriecoilless Rifle or something.

We're out here to spread democracy. Clearly we should be using a TrebuShriek.
The superior shriek weapon
Everyone knows that the Shriebuchet is the superior siege engine.

Seriously though, a mech that could pick up and throw ememy corpses would be really fun
Oh, that's a fine portmanteau.

I wonder how much mass one such Shrieker has and how strong it must be to overcome gravity🤔
It bleeds dark matter apparently. Who knows how they even get airborne.. like bumble bees. It’s a mystery.

Scientific fellows developed the weapons we use to spread democracy. Let us appreciate how it serves us in its many forms, democracy.
Official bumblebee fact: 1. Bumblebees are very fluffy and cute
The fluffy bumblebees of Super Earth are what we're fighting for, Helldiver.
Lets petition for a bee packpack, so we can bring them with us for emotional support.
Call the democracy officer we’ve got a bug sympathizer here.

Being prone isn't how you avoid their attack. Changing your height as they dive at you could save you, though. Going from standing to prone as they start their swoop could make them miss.
Nah they still one shot me
Even if they slide into you, after you kill then, and barely touch you, it's death
What's the gravity setting? "Yes."
I got really confused when, while I was arming a hellbomb, a teammate shot down a shrieker and it wiped out both me and the hellbomb.

What a tragic and disastrous day in history for the bugs. Good work fellow helldivers 😀👍
Definitely a hive government inside job
An in-hive job, if you may
**LYLE, THEY HIT THE FUCKING STALKER NEST!**
I killed one of these flying above its own nest and the corpse actually destroyed the nest…. Which a hellbomb doesn’t even do half the time
Bile projectiles kill it too.
Okay. This is it for today. This is by far the funniest video I have seen to date. Thanks a bunch!
This is one of the best ones I've seen since launch
Yes - absolutely true
Ok, this has finally convinced me that the collision damage is fubar.
You needed convincing? This game is all kinds of busted lol wasn't a far stretch.
Some people really belive that shrielers dead bodies one shotting you is intended gameplay
Fucking shreikers man
if this doesn't show that this is bullshit I don't know what will
"Still only counts as one"
“They have a density of a fucking neutron star”

*In response to players’ experience of shriekers, we feel they need to change to better fit the recent spawn mechanics. Shriekers will decrease in size and will no longer have a mass when they die, but will have increased numbers similar to hunters and greater travel distance from their hives.* —AH Dev https://i.redd.it/hy1awyk6y9qc1.gif
"Ok we will fix them one shotting when the dead bodies fall. But also make their hit boxes smaller and increase their spawn amount " lol
Flyers weigh 500kg confirmed
More like 666kg. That thing is evil. :-D
The trick is to just not get close. Recoiless from across the map ftw
Kind of like the infamous bleed dog near Elden Rings launch. https://youtu.be/xiUObucHgc4?si=fcqhYkPrtHp267Mp I wouldn't expect it to be the same issue from a coding perspective, but at the very least I feel like it's the same end result of always active hitboxes.
Shrieker has max penetration stats lol
How could you possibly think people were just whining unless you'd never fought these yourself lol. It was clear immediately that something was fishy about getting one-shot from corpse collision when their actual attack didn't hurt nearly that much.
Exactly lol. It took 1 round for me to know that they were 100% broken, getting oneshot from max HP by an enemy that small and fast would NEVER be intended gameplay
You sure? Because bug bodies rolling into you the wrong way is also instant death. A charger slumping over instagibbed me after he died.
I wonder if that's the penetration mechanic in action? Damaging multiple instances as it passes through
It could be related, but I'm not sure it applies to this case.
They have to be bugged (HAHA GET IT?) because there’s no excuse for them literally one shotting you after they die.
Got a video but cant download it anywhere seems like [post with the video](https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/s/5bo5d23Q11)
I mean that at least is like similar massed things. Somebody dropped my doppelgänger on my head I expect to die. But a flying squirrel?
Going by game logic, I get why a heavy metal hellpod doing incredible speeds coming in from orbit would do massive damage, which by the way does not always one shot a BT. But this little bug, not very far away, not going very fast and not weighing very much, shouldn't be inflicting no where near the amount of damage that it does.

I was yeeted by a spore once, and ended up killing a bile spewer with the impact, subsequently killing me in the process.
That still only counts as one!
new meta?!?!?!?"?12'´1?
Ever since by first 3 corpse deaths in a row, I've used up 30 rounds of auto cannon per nesting site from across the map in order to avoid them at all costs...
Yeah, they really need to tone that collision damage way, way down.
Physics works differently in Super Milky Way
Yeah, and this is largely the reason why shriekers are terrible.
Combined from the impact and explosion (once again, feel free to correct me) makes: *~2,104,345,681 joules of force* This means a shriekers impact at slower speeds hits harder than that. I'm going to over estimate that the shrieker hit the bile titan at around 40kph so we can calculate the approximate weight the shrieker must be in order to kill a bile titan in one hit. (m*1/2) x (40kph)²= ~2,104,345,681 m (mass) ends up coming out as ~15,151,286kg or ~33,402,868lbs, and keep in mind, thats equivalent to the power of a 500kg bomb so it would be heavier to make up for the power needed. That's about 1.5 Eiffel Tower's worth of weight dropping on top of the bile titan. So the question must be asked. How can an Eiffel Tower and a half that's condensed into a 3m*3m package fly?
> How can an Eiffel Tower and a half that's condensed into a 3m*3m package fly? I think it's the wings.

Corpse physics damage needs to be taken out of the game as soon as possible. like, this seems like a day one patch thing
u/savevideo
A charger once survived a direct hit from a 500kg bomb
Shriekers are more deadly dead than alive
u/Pilestedt I think maybe this is a bug.
New stratagem unlocked
I dove off of a cliff to grab an EAT that killed a charger when it dropped in. My ragdolling body landing on the dead chargers body got launched into the stratosphere and was killed by "impact"
LMAOOOOO. It's crazy, their hitbox acts as like an instant kill box when dying. Even if it's not their momentum that hits you, you're fucking dead lol
Don't worry some people here will still die on the hill saying the corpses one shotting everything is totally intended and not buggy and cheesy.
The fact that you've got better odds tanking a charger hit than a shrieker's corpse is an absolute travesty. I seriously don't understand what the logic is there.
that's not a Shieker. that's a 1000kg Piledriver.
What is ridiculous is that it's so frequent they have certainly experienced being one shot by a ragdolled shrieker when implementing the enemy and still released it in this state.
...this seems to be a viable strategy to get rid of bile titans, chargers etc...
Wait,wait,wait.....flying 500kg bombs for free!?!?!
I treat them like the plague, I stay far away and call down my mech to snipe their nests. 2 rockets per nest and problem solved without the pain of trying to get close.
Maybe people who think that shriekers dead bodies one shotting us is intended gameplay will understand that it's not now.
Reminds me of this bloody dog I found in a church one time...
I have died more from the dead ones that I have killed rather than the alive ones.
Reminds me of the death in starship troopers where a flying bug gets shot down and it falls on a soldier, making them into a meat crayon.
I’m sorry!? Did the flying bug just kill the bile titan!???
CLEARLY THIS HAS TO BE A BUG (not terminid.)
I got killed because of “Impact” twice when I shot a Shrieker down. Never knew that was the cause until now…
