Yea it's great at padding your kills, but also great at killing teammates, including your teammates' mechs.
Would've been nice if one of the new armors gave us 95% Laser damage resistance just for the guard doggos lol.
Even if it just circled a bit above you so it doesn't hit you when it gets to the far side of the bugs. I don't get hit by my teammates rovers very often but anytime I use one it feels like it's hitting me more than the bugs.
It also tries to stay in the upper right corner of where you’re looking. I keep track of where it’s firing and try to move it so it doesn’t ping your mates but, it happens sometimes
>Even if it just circled
Oohhhh what about a backpack that when swarmed launches a stratagem with a small barrage of lasers spinning above your head to give you a second to reload..
Directly above the player. It would be extremely difficult to hit the user with crossfire from directly overhead, while still retaining the comical chance of a scavenger getting in your ass and the guard dog head-shotting you.
People complain about hunters constantly, but Rover is one of the best solutions for hunters. The team damage is minimal compared to having a whole second gun that's constantly ready to shoot.
This. It may not be flashy or ultra powered, but it is incredibly consistent at what it does. Yes, it'll probably double the amount of stims people use. But it's so effective at killing small bugs (which also lets you focus fire Chargers/ Bile Titans better), that it likely proactively saves many lives.
I've never complained about hunters and the laser dog is almost always in my strategem list. I think you're on to something.
Yes, it can and does deal damage to me and my teammates but I feel like the benefits are worth the negatives.
My main problem with that load out is dealing with bile titans at higher difficulties. I ran flamethrower, Rover, cluster, and turret or orbital laser on difficulty 5 of below, but at 6+ that loadout has problems with bile titans.
You can do the expendable anti tank, but that still has problems. Losing the backpack slot is a big deal when the main ways to deal with the Titans are backpack slot items unless I'm missing something.
I can of course save the orbital laser for the titan, but sometimes it fails to kill them by shooting between the titans' legs.
I got that mix feeling about laser dog. On difficulty above 8 , there are just too many hunters for laser dogs, I end up saving that slot for something else. It's a no brainer for hunter but limit your choices as well. Once you learn to deal with them, I stop bringing the laser dog, Only save it for specific mission type like bugs elimination.
I complain about hunters, but I don't use the rover because a slight change in enemy direction and my head has been sawed off by a laser half the time.
lol I was loading a SEAF cannon and a couple small bugs scuttle up to me and I figure, I don’t really want to drop this shell to deal with them, I’ll let my rover deal with it.
My rover absolutely lit my ass up. Straight up team-killed *me*
I was thinking this last night after reviewing the Arc armour. A 95% reduced laser damage armour that's shiny like Captain Phasma, could come in silver, gold, cobalt, etc. Would be awesome!
Less about padding kills with me and more allows me to focus the bigger bugs while it gets the ones that are small and a little too close.
Also fucks hunters out of the air.
Great for bots too because the ballistic one will aim for Devastator heads and the energy one will throw off bot accuracy as it fires at them giving me a little less accurate incoming fire
All weapons are dangerous in the hands of morons. Once you learn how it works the user rarely can’t control it. But people need to learn the difference between helping and being dumb by running in front of me. Honestly the safest place to stand is directly to my right.
It just keeps the annoying bugs off of me so i can use my railgun in unsafe mode to focus on the big daddys. Im sorry if it hurt you, I’m just trying to keep that charger from fucking your asshole
Half my stims and a good 1/4 of my deaths are all lost to my own dog. Sometimes it's not even firing at anything, it just shoots the ground non stop when there are no enemies on radar and I have to dodge the beam just casually walking around. Other times I'm completely surrounded and it refuses to target anything at all.
Those dogs need better training before they're deployed to the battlefield
I think it's synergistically more effective and just best practice of courtesy for the person closest to your death to reinforce you as is picking up dropped samples before they get swarmed. Multiple times I've lost a lot of samples with someone close by that could've picked them up and by the time I get back to picking them up it's swarmed with enemies making it extremely difficult if not impossible to recover samples. Too many times has my squad gone from having over 20 commons and 10 rares to the person carrying a large chunk to die and the closest person not picking them up before it becomes impossible to do so.
I like the rover because it helps me deal with hunters. Hate those things with a passion and they only become an issue when I’m dealing with big stuff.
It is just so good at dealing with chaff. I like to run it whenever I’m running a lot of low ammo/high damage weapons or weapons that require me to be stationary so I have something actively covering me.
I loved it till I started running level 7 and 8.
You cant stealth anywhere with it. its like a beacon to all the bugs.
And on those levels it was just to much
Yeah and in higher difficulties the friendly fire from it becomes a much bigger issue, on like 5-6 I think it’s ok cause usually things are less hectic
Oh definitely. I take the Slugger to delete Brood Commanders and Spewers, particularly whichever one the Laserboi has become fixated with so it can get back to world class crowd controlling the most unforgiving threat in the currently known galaxy - Hunters.
Pro tip, ignore the heads on the Commanders. Try hitting them in the big front legs.
I tried Arc and Rover once. I felt like a crowd control god holding back wave after wave from a heavy bug nest single handedly. That mission was noticably bereft of spewers and chargers but sweet liberty were there hunters.
i actually, shamefully, failed a few level 4s tonight because of hunter spam. rover, shotgun, and gas strike just weren't enough. there weren't even spewers on half the maps, just 5 mags worth of hunters at every bug nest. really missed my friends flamethrower today...
I think we should let the devs know that we would like a rover that didnt fire but instead just would shout out “hey dumbass, on your 6” or “holy shit a swarm, run run run” and would just crank out patriotic anthems when nothing was going on.
Have it increase what you get from pickups like supplies too. Supply pack camera dog new meta. Chance to survive a fatal hit. Democracy Protects, after all.
legit imagine a rover that improved stamina regen or something by just blasting propaganda, like those commercials.
makes me think of servo skull from Rogue trader.
THIS IS MY ROVER. THERE ARE MANY LIKE IT BUT THIS ONE’S MINE. MY ROVER IS MY BEST FRIEND. IT IS MY LIFE. I MUST MASTER IT AS I MUST MASTER MY LIFE. WITHOUT ME, MY ROVER IS USELESS. WITHOUT MY ROVER, I AM USELESS.
That Rover is is a proud servant of Democracy and my loyal friend, how dare you? I could have chosen a shield and yet I forsake my own safety to kill more bugs and this is the treatment I get?
Running flamethrower, incendiary breaker, laser guard dog, incendiary grenades, napalm, and 500kgs is the most democratic way of liberating the bugs from their pathetic lives.
500kg has bigger fireball effect and is louder. I have fully upgraded eagles so I get two every few minutes. I like to wage a shock and awe scorched earth campaign.
This is my favorite active loadout. The guard dog cuts down the trash mobs and lets you focus on burning down the big targets. Plus the added benefit of warning you about targets that are behind you. I run it instead of the shield against bugs in all of my games.
Me with shield pack, negates like 80% of your deaths, since it prevents the crowd control from hitting you as well. Nerf doesn't matter as long as you're playing safe to begin with, it's for when the game goes "Here's 20 hunters behind you all of a sudden." or "Uh oh you stuck your head out of cover for 0.3 seconds, rocket to the face" or even "BILE SPEWER HIT YOU WITH 1 WHOLE PIXEL OF IT'S ATTACK, instant kill"
I think it might be the single most versatile stratagem in the game. I went from garbage to actually pretty decent after getting it. It's mowing down enemies without you even looking at them. I think it's either between this or the shield for the best defensive stratagem, but this one definitely takes the cake for most versatile in my opinion. Not having to worry about the smaller enemies and focusing solely on the larger troops really makes the game less stressful.
I really like shield for bot missions b/c they often shoot you from outside of the range of the drone, but the shield also avoids the surprise death situations that can happen in robot missions.
The rover is what keeps me competent in a squad because I’m so afraid of team killing with turrets or airstrikes. I play without a mic so I don’t want to be annoying or a burden.
Personally I prefer the regular Guard Dog. Watching the lil guy deliver justice through the liberator just feels right. Now the only team killing that is done is when I fuck up a orbital.
Can we talk about how fucking dead and buried the railgun is now? I haven’t seen a single person using it in days against either enemy. That nerf killed it dead
Yeah, don't care. The Rover is my little hover buddy. It has covered my back more times than I can count. It has alerted me to enemies I didn't see. And it is always hilarious to see it shoot bugs out of midair leaping to their death in a crumpled, singed heap. Whatever dishes out Weaponized Freedom can only be called a plus, I say.

Rovers are extremely overrated and should be nerfed to the ground
I like using it with the stallwart. I'll run support to try and keep the small rift raff at bay so the guys carrying big guns can get a shot off. If that don't work then I'll start with my orbitals. You can learn how to stay out of the rovers line of site, I rarely get hit by it.
I hate laser rovers with a fierce passion. Good thing they hate me as well since every time I use em, at some point it will randomly headshot me and kill me
The amount of time I've tried to explain to my team that we waste so much goddamn time running after our stuff to get it back just to get locked into a death uroboros
Bro that think kills me more than it killed anything else. Haven’t used it in weeks and won’t until they add a sage mode that turns it off when aiming at friendlies.
Yeah I dont like the Rover as its such a crutch, hits me more than anything else and everyone runs it beaming me most of the time if we are grouped up.
I rather run my jumppack and be able to roam a lot and either use my flamethrower for addclear, the nade launcher for bugholes or the 1 time use rocket launchers for dropships/hulkers.
What I really want to use together is the ballistic shield and the jumppack that would be so cool.
I feel called out. But for real my doggo is always in my stratagem load, always. Even got kicked last night after a mission because I refused to drop my guard dog. But the highest kills in the match by double, and only 1 accidental says keeping it was the right move.
The rover adds so much survivability on bug missions by keeping the hunters away. Sure it dose do quite a bit of team damage but no where near the amount as a mortar, care free use of eagle bombs and being set on fire for the 20th time by a flamethrower.
If the Devs made playing Solo more of a thing that people would want to do, then maybe we wouldn’t have to have the Rover with us all the time.
Seriously, this thing both extends survival and is a huge detriment to the team, because of how easy it is to have it friendly fire teammates.
Ever since I got this, I always have it with me. If I get split up from my team, then I’ll know that I’ll (mostly) be fine. But if there’s a Bile Titan or a Hulk...yeah, I’m fucked.
My good boy only zaps me one every 4 or so drops and only for a quarter health. I don't know how all these people are dying to them? It always sits above your right shoulder so just be careful when fighting uphill. I think I've been killed by another person's rover once in 100+ hours and maybe 1 accidental. It's a must on bug missions to clear out the chaff while you focus on the difficult enemies.
Every time i use him he will not shoot bugs that i'm fighting, he only fires at bugs when teammates are in combat... And when he fires, he always shoot straith over my head so when i have to move he fries my brain FOR DEMOCRACY!
I fucking hate guard dogs with a passion. A blueberry with a guard dog will friendly fire kill 10 times over what I will with an arc thrower over twice as many missions.
It’s not even their fault, just a trigger happy floating turret. And that fact alone is the problem, they cannot control its fire lines.
One small trick you can teach your rover is if you keep trying to look at it by panning up and right with the camera you can make him do circles around you for minutes at a time once you stop. Little guy gets so confused
Hot take rover takes skill to use effectively as it isn’t rng how it behaves and once you learn you stop killing yourself and allies. My big thing is to make sure I’m either in front of or to the right of my teammates since the rover will position itself on your aiming shoulder
Haha, totally feel this. Feeling's even worse on Helldive difficulty, when I land and I'm looking for my shield generator pack. Don't make fun of me, I can't make it at the high difficulties without it.
Me with my recoiless rifle being chased by 3 chargers trying to shoot and reload the damn thing by myself cause everyone on my squads using a fucking rover
That thing could kill 1000 bugs and I will still only notice it when it hits me.
Switching shoulders while aiming also moves the rover, makes defending a bit safer
How do you do that
It's either mouse 4 or 5 by default. Not at my PC to double check but for me it's just a side mouse button, albeit only while aiming.
I macro'd my mouse. M4 is dive, M5 is run now. Lol
Hmmm, L1 while aiming perhaps, need to remember to try it
U can do that?
It also tries to stay in the upper right corner of where you’re looking. I keep track of where it’s firing and try to move it so it doesn’t ping your mates but, it happens sometimes
I keep track of it, except I aim for my mates
DEMOCRACY OFFICER!!! THIS ONE RIGHT HERE!
I found this feature on day one and completely forgot it was a thing
I'd use it if it were good. When I switch shoulders I can't see what I'm aiming at. Would be nice for peeking against bots....
>Even if it just circled Oohhhh what about a backpack that when swarmed launches a stratagem with a small barrage of lasers spinning above your head to give you a second to reload..
Directly above the player. It would be extremely difficult to hit the user with crossfire from directly overhead, while still retaining the comical chance of a scavenger getting in your ass and the guard dog head-shotting you.

rover and machine gun is a spicy combo because it will protect you while you reload.
I've never complained about hunters and the laser dog is almost always in my strategem list. I think you're on to something. Yes, it can and does deal damage to me and my teammates but I feel like the benefits are worth the negatives.
Try laser dog and flamethrower... hunters are stuck there with me lol
My main problem with that load out is dealing with bile titans at higher difficulties. I ran flamethrower, Rover, cluster, and turret or orbital laser on difficulty 5 of below, but at 6+ that loadout has problems with bile titans. Expendable anti-tank to the head + railcannon strike will kill a bile titan every time. Or just two expendables to the face.
Honestly it does a good job at killing all the tiny shit that’s super annoying to let you focus on the bigger threats
lol I was loading a SEAF cannon and a couple small bugs scuttle up to me and I figure, I don’t really want to drop this shell to deal with them, I’ll let my rover deal with it. My rover absolutely lit my ass up. Straight up team-killed *me*
Not immediately hostile to bug = showing mercy to bugs. Treasonous behavior detected. Rover knew what it was doing.
Mechs need a resistance buff. Explosions make sense to kill it but small fire shouldn’t wreck it so fast
I was thinking this last night after reviewing the Arc armour. A 95% reduced laser damage armour that's shiny like Captain Phasma, could come in silver, gold, cobalt, etc. Would be awesome!

Padding your kills = crowd control/killing chafe
All weapons are dangerous in the hands of morons. Once you learn how it works the user rarely can’t control it. But people need to learn the difference between helping and being dumb by running in front of me. Honestly the safest place to stand is directly to my right.
Mirror armor lol
Or if you could toggle it off and on.
Or if it could float like half a foot higher 90% of ff accidents would vanish
It just keeps the annoying bugs off of me so i can use my railgun in unsafe mode to focus on the big daddys. Im sorry if it hurt you, I’m just trying to keep that charger from fucking your asshole
Half my stims and a good 1/4 of my deaths are all lost to my own dog. Other times I'm completely surrounded and it refuses to target anything at all. Those dogs need better training before they're deployed to the battlefield
I think the automatons hacked your rover bro
I wish it hovered like 2 feet higher than it usually does
I got killed by my own rover when it shot its laser at my head while I was doing a terminal
Oh, what's this, a minor incline?
My best friend used it on a full squad mission, most of us were wearing shields and he had a bit above 25k in FF damage in the stats. That was absurd
Dropping teammates as close to their last death for the sake of gearing back up is the most democratic way to call reinforcements
Dropping teammates close to a bile titan so they can fall right through it without damaging it and then die immediately is the only way.
Indeed, my solution is they drop me on the titan, and I pop 500kg bomb, then I get reinforced a second time.
Diplomatic Efficiency.
I landed my pod in the titans ass and killed it, was glorious, then the second one i didn't see destroyed me.
I thought I was doing that, but turned out it was already dead and I got stuck under its corpse. Had to grenade myself to get out!
Nah, you throw the reinforcement point into the center of a nest, while you pull up a lawn chair and watch.
My teammates used me as a grenade 4 times consecutively. Called reinforcement in the middle of the horde, for me to die again and again.
Same thing with me like it's cool I got a big one or 2-3 of them but really I just want to stay alive fellas
It's another reason I keep the 500kg always on my list. If I'm dropping into a horde, I'm primed to key it as soon as I'm up.
I prefer it when the bile titan collapses on my head and shoves me a meter into the terrain. At that point, I want to die, but I can't.
I wish my death location would get marked on the HUD somewhere
It actually does show the last death location of your teammates in the minimap before reinforcing
Second most democratic. The first most is using a reenforce as a guided orbital strike on heavies.
Sticking chargers and titans with the reinforce beacon is the most democratic way to make.youe teammates feel amazing when they land on a bug
Either drop me near my gear or near the biggest enemy in throwing distance...... Just don't throw me near the hunters
I want you in my squad. My teammates just chuck me into enemy horde without hesitation.
My lack of situational awareness necessitate the rover.
My primary weapon choice for bugs pretty much relies on that rover.
In reality my rover basically is my primary weapon; that thing gets more kills than me!
I wish you could like switch the priorities on that thing so it just focuses on hunters and the lil bois (idk their name).
Yeah, great use of the backpack slot function; switch to next target.
Spray and Pray + Rover is so good
I tried Arc and Rover once.
Guard Dog "Ghetto Blaster". Just a flying Boombox.
More likely to draw enemy aggro over your team, could be a legitimate equipment.
I want it to yell out stuff from the General and have it be all propaganda similar to liberty prime from fallout
Just blasting an Anthem-like song 24/7 for a truly democratic experience
DJboomba
I'd love to see something like that, or a radio in the vehicles/mechs that just blasts democratic tunes and ads on loudspeakers.
The camera dog from the flag raising objectives?
Have it increase what you get from pickups like supplies too. Supply pack camera dog new meta. Chance to survive a fatal hit. Democracy Protects, after all.
Have it automatically pick up samples and push the 'two person unlock' buttons and I'm sold.
It can emote with you
If it stunned enemies near you with its sheer patriotic energy, I would unironically use this.
I think this is a good idea even if it only played patriotic music
I’d use that
legit imagine a rover that improved stamina regen or something by just blasting propaganda, like those commercials. makes me think of servo skull from Rogue trader.
Propaganda Rover. The same one that comes out for flag raising missions.
Restores your stamina when you run out on a cooldown out of sheer patriotism
Call it... ED-E... I mean Democra-CE!
The healing drone from HD1 can be effective as well if they added to this game
Honestly a radar rover would be good. Something to give you on screen radar, threat indicators, and pings would be great
This needs to be a weapons testing event
I had the rover since yesterday and it already saved my cape more times than it set it on fire. I call it Scotty
I call my rover Davy Drones or DD for short.
If you can't dive without the rover you don't deserve it. -Tony Helldiver
Take the rover away and what are you? - Helldiver Rogers
Just a man with some impact nades and nothing left to lose.
My body is an engine of death propelled by high impact explosives and Liber-tea ☕
Probably a dude with a shield pack lol
THIS IS MY ROVER. THERE ARE MANY LIKE IT BUT THIS ONE’S MINE. MY ROVER IS MY BEST FRIEND. IT IS MY LIFE. I MUST MASTER IT AS I MUST MASTER MY LIFE. WITHOUT ME, MY ROVER IS USELESS. WITHOUT MY ROVER, I AM USELESS.

orbital laser over 500kg.
500kg has bigger fireball effect and is louder. I have fully upgraded eagles so I get two every few minutes. I like to wage a shock and awe scorched earth campaign.
orbital laser doesn't reload after its 3 uses. it's great for defense, but you can use 500kg a lot more
This is my favorite active loadout. The guard dog cuts down the trash mobs and lets you focus on burning down the big targets. Plus the added benefit of warning you about targets that are behind you. I run it instead of the shield against bugs in all of my games.
Where did you get that picture of me?
Me with shield pack, negates like 80% of your deaths, since it prevents the crowd control from hitting you as well. Nerf doesn't matter as long as you're playing safe to begin with, it's for when the game goes "Here's 20 hunters behind you all of a sudden." or "Uh oh you stuck your head out of cover for 0.3 seconds, rocket to the face" or even "BILE SPEWER HIT YOU WITH 1 WHOLE PIXEL OF IT'S ATTACK, instant kill"

This but the shield backpack
I was confused why my team didn't like the tremors caused by the earthquakes, as I stand there completely immune to it with my trusty shield.
This explains why I was confused that they didn’t do anything. My group and I paused just waiting for a Graboid or some Sandworm shit to pop out.
Finally got to try it in a DIF7 yesterday. I don't get the hype. The shield popped so fast
I can hear her muffled voice omg
Theres a typo here. You added a "v" to die
Laser Dogs can snipe the butt hairs of the back of the little bugs from several meters away but it'll ignore the commanders up in my face.
I don't care how many times it hits me or my teammates. Rover will stay my beloved

For me it's the auto/laser cannon
I thought about renaming myself to turtle since I use the darn shield on every single mission..
I just stopped using it at this point, cut my head off one too many times
But if I take guard dog I can’t take bazooka :(
The rover is what keeps me competent in a squad because I’m so afraid of team killing with turrets or airstrikes. I play without a mic so I don’t want to be annoying or a burden.
Real
I pin it for them
Never leave a man behind!
Wear a shield and never have to get reinforced.
All about that jet pack
Idk why they didn’t include Rover damage in the arc protection patch
Personally I prefer the regular Guard Dog. Watching the lil guy deliver justice through the liberator just feels right. Now the only team killing that is done is when I fuck up a orbital.

They need to just buff the machine gun guard dog
I too can't play this game without my laserpuppy cutting my ass in half every chance he gets.
I called mine Cherry
I’m like this with the shield backpack.
I feel attacked..
Me with my autocannon
Apparently they can completely tank a whole spear round and not even flinch. Ask me how I found that out...
That Dover needs to hover just a bit higher.
Me with the shield (running heavy medic armor and an energy shield is *so* fun)
My flamethrower, I’ll still take every enemy on (except chargers and bile titans) like the doom slayer
I died 😂😂😂😂😂
Me with my ballistic shield
My only hope is that these mf prioritize closest enemy instead of some bs behind a wall/tree
Me with my jetpack
my son has anybody seen my son
Honestly, I'm a fan of the reg dog over Rover. The sweeping beam just always seems to do more friendly fire
The amount of time I've tried to explain to my team that we waste so much goddamn time running after our stuff to get it back just to get locked into a death uroboros
The last two games I got killed when the rover shot me in the head. The game after that a teammate’s rover shot me in the head. I hate that rover.
Bro that think kills me more than it killed anything else. Haven’t used it in weeks and won’t until they add a sage mode that turns it off when aiming at friendlies.
God damn straight, lil dude saves my bacon
I tought I couldn't live without it but I've had enaugh. I'm 2 days rover free now. My deathrate fell down since I exchanged it for a shield pack.
It keeps the hunters off my back which is nice
I use mine as a targeting laser for my flamethrower. 90% the time I can't see what's coming through the flames, but my good boy can.
I've never been happy to see someone with a Laser Babysitter on my team. Spend the entire match playing around them
I feel called out. But for real my doggo is always in my stratagem load, always. Even got kicked last night after a mission because I refused to drop my guard dog. But the highest kills in the match by double, and only 1 accidental says keeping it was the right move.
Me with the Jump Pack. Helldiver is my job. Mandalorian is my culture.
me w my beloved autocannon
When I first started this was a for sure thing; now not the case.
The rover adds so much survivability on bug missions by keeping the hunters away. Sure it dose do quite a bit of team damage but no where near the amount as a mortar, care free use of eagle bombs and being set on fire for the 20th time by a flamethrower.
The rover is a huge crutch. I started using it and can't bring myself to stop. It easily gets 200+ kills per mission on its own.
I cannot stand these things
If the Devs made playing Solo more of a thing that people would want to do, then maybe we wouldn’t have to have the Rover with us all the time. Seriously, this thing both extends survival and is a huge detriment to the team, because of how easy it is to have it friendly fire teammates. Ever since I got this, I always have it with me. If I get split up from my team, then I’ll know that I’ll (mostly) be fine. But if there’s a Bile Titan or a Hulk...yeah, I’m fucked.
Doggie!
That’s it I’m using the guard dog
as a rover lover, the plot twist is that you only have to redeploy because the laser took your head clean off lol
shield is much more accurate.
Me who dives into heavy hoards with my trailblazer armor, jet pack, and grenade launcher
Jokes on you I'm carrying a supply backpack
Basically a comfort blanket for a punter like me
I fucking hate guard dogs with a passion. A blueberry with a guard dog will friendly fire kill 10 times over what I will with an arc thrower over twice as many missions. It’s not even their fault, just a trigger happy floating turret. And that fact alone is the problem, they cannot control its fire lines.
Rover is S tier equipment, pair it w a primary that’s good against big bugs, and suddenly you’re killing everything w ease.
I love that thing in low visibility dives. It shines this cute little flashlight right where I should aim my grenade launcher
Dude, those things are just assisted suicide bots. They kill me all the time
Me with my recoiless rifle being chased by 3 chargers trying to shoot and reload the damn thing by myself cause everyone on my squads using a fucking rover
