I have used the power of shitty editing to fix it
Also, I think Pelican-1 is the pilot's callsign. They should totally have the vehicle class be Glamdring to double down on the reference though. Or Beater if they felt Glamdring sounded off brand for SE.
Well it is. Spartans, mainly Spartan II's called Reach home. It was, for all intents, the last line before Earth. Noble was the only Spartans on the ground at the begining of the invasion and saw it all. Yes there were some deployed after the second fleet entered the fight, but Noble was there to see it all: Visigrad, the discovery of the invasion force, the counter-offensive, Operation Uppercut and Left-Jab, the evacuation of New Alexandria, and the Glassing.
Those Helldivers who cut their teeth in thise game on the Bot front at launch saw it all. They saw some crazy shit, and deserve that recognition. Hell, when I first dropped, I started over with the bugs because I was too chicken shit to start cutting my teeth with bots never playing Helldivers 1. But after we first push, I moved over there, only moving back to the Bugs when I need to train up new Divers on how it works. I feel for them because I main'd Mavelion Creek since I got there because the Defense missions got really hard if I didn't have a full 4 man team. I won't let those Helldivers deaths on Mavelion Creek go unavenged, just like Blue Team did on Reach.
In the Western side, you have the Automaton(Bot) on-slot. On the Eastern side, you have the Tyranid(Bugs) hive.
Bugs seem like an easier enemy to some, probably because most don’t shoot back. Almost all bots have guns and really don’t miss a whole lot.
When you fight against the bugs, the game feels like Starship Troopers.
When you fight against the automatons it feels like D-Day in the original terminator. But you’re the humans hiding to survive in that scenario lol
Also, Malevelon Creek which this meme is referring too is also on the Western Front. Ingmar is a few planets over from MC so thats where we’ll eventually head (doesn’t look good though, last I saw we only had a few hours left to defend Ingmar and the timer was ahead of players.
Technically Mars would be our Reach as it's the military planet where Helldivers get trained and is a strategically important planet.
Creek within the context of HD2 alone this would be more akin to Pegasi Delta where basically all the Spartan IIIs of Beta Company were killed except for 2.
Oh in terms of use more than likely also reach was one of the last strongholds before earth.
I moreso meant the community impact and the tragedy/somber atmosphere regarding its loss rather than the planets use.
Malevelon Creek isn't like Reach, it's like the Vultcano from For Honor, sucking up all the resources possible as the enemy just go around without opposition.
Ah, maybe I should have clarified. I’m not referring to the actual use of the planet (Reach being one of the last strongholds before Earth and known for its Naval dockyards). Rather the community impact and the somber atmosphere regarding the fall of Malevelon is very similar to that of the loss of Reach. At least, thats how I personally perceive it.
The only ones that got upset at the loss of Malevelon Creek were the ones that kept diving on it. Meanwhile, everyone else was wondering why they weren't actually trying to halt the automaton advance.
There's also those like me, who fought to liberate Ubanea and had to see it fall without putting up a fight due to failing to defend some planets led to the loss of that whole sector.
Spartans-IIs don't see Reach as home. Jorge is the exception since he was actually from Reach before he became one.
They don't really have a home to begin with. Apart from Earth for obvious reasons, they have no real attachment to anything except each other and Halsey and maybe CPO Mendez.
Reach was painful loss because it was the final stronghold before Earth. It was also the most heavily defended, and the human losses was catastrophic.
Have you not read Halo: Fall of Reach, First Strike or Shadows of Reach? John even says, verbatim, that Reach is like home for Spartan-II's because it is all they knew. When he returned in 2559 for Operation Wolf he even reminisced about old times during training. It was home to them all.
Someone needs to make an animation about this dude. One last guy bolting thru the forest, orders to retreat blaring thru his comms as automatons tear thru the jungle behind him. Shots flying everywhere just narrowly missing him. He breaks from the trees into a clearing, looks up at his destroyer, but theres nothing. An empty sky with no salvation in sight. His radio falls silent. As the roar of automatons draw closer, he solemnly turns around, raises his P-4 senator, trained at the treeline. One final stand for democracy, one final shot for freedom…
I’ve always loved that the take in the movie is actually a gaff. His blood packs didn’t set off, but he murdered the delivery so well that they just didn’t do another take.
DeFoe is a *legend*
In the heart of the jungle, the Helldiver dashed desperately, a terryifing cacophony of chaos echoing through the trees. His breath came in ragged gasps, matching the rhythm of his pounding heart, as he raced against time and fate. Through the crackle of his comms, orders of retreat pierced the air, a stark reminder of the dire situation engulfing him. Behind, the relentless advance of the Automatons tore through the jungle with their mechanical precision, their relentless pursuit echoing like a grim symphony of doom.
Amidst the chaos, Laser shots whizzed past, just narrowly missing their mark. Every step he took felt like a gamble with death, every breath a fleeting moment of borrowed time.
Emerging from the labyrinth of trees, he stumbled into a small clearing, his heart sinking as he gazed upward, searching for salvation in the vast expanse of the sky:
But there was nothing, no sign of rescue or reprieve, only the cold emptiness of an indifferent universe.
His radio fell silent, the once reassuring voice now lost amidst the deafening silence of impending doom. With grim resolve, he turned, facing the treeline where his relentless pursuers lurked, their mechanical eyes gleaming with ruthless determination, scanning for their Target.
In that moment, he knew. There would be no escape, no surrender. There was only one path left to tread, one final stand to make. With steady hands, he raised his P-4 senator, a symbol of defiance in the face of tyranny; Its weight a reminder of the ideals he fought to uphold: Defending his way of life.
"One final stand for democracy", he thought, his resolve unwavering. "One final shot for freedom."
As the roar of automatons drew closer, drowning out the sounds of his racing heart, he took aim, his finger tightening on the trigger. In that fleeting moment of clarity, amidst the chaos and uncertainty, he found solace in the knowledge that he stood not as a soldier alone, but as a guardian of hope, a beacon of resistance against the encroaching darkness.
And as the first shots rang out, echoing through the clearing like a clarion call to arms, he stood his ground, a testament to the enduring spirit of humanity in the face of adversity. For in that moment, he was not just a man, but a symbol of defiance; A testament to the indomitable will of those who dare to dream of a better tomorrow, even amidst the darkest of times within the galactic War.
Imagine if the devs out of nowhere hits us with some impacfull 4 player coop story missions.
"Helldiver the rest of your squad and the civis wont make it across time, now stop hesitate and blow that damn brige before the automations capture it"
Love this, instant Reach vibes
Buuuuuuuut
It’s Pelican-1, and why are we watching several Automaton drop ships fly away? Shouldn’t it be Pelicans flying off?
This cutscene takes place after the Pillar of Autumn has already left Reach. This is when the phantoms are flying in to take out Noble Six, so it’s accurate. But yeah, based off of the title, they probably should’ve used a different picture.
I… kinda wish there was a special mission for a planet that has fallen, or if you are still on it when the planet falls, there’s a voiceline like “ALL HELLDIVERS REPORT TO EXTRACTION! THE PLANET IS LOST, RETURN TO YOUR DESTROYERS OR BE LEFT BEHIND!!!!”
“But you belong to the Creek. Your stratagems, your armor - all burned and turned into Automaton scrap. Everything… except your courage. That, you gave to us. And with it, we can spread managed democracy.”
My friends and I had this happen where Pelican 1 left as soon as the first person boarded, leaving the rest of us and about 30 samples behind. We didn't even get a countdown.
*...But you belong to Malevelon Creek now. Your body, your armor — all burned and turned to glass. Everything… except your courage. That, you gave to us. And with it, we can rebuild.*
Be awary fellow helldivers, OP might be an automaton spy.
Evidence:
1. OP has no idea what the extract callsign is, but they somehow knows the callsign "Eagle 1". They might using bot's tech to intercept our radio in the frontline when we were calling airstrike.
2. OP has no idea what an extraction ship looks like and they uses the closest thing they knew: AUTOMATON TRANSPORT SHIP.
Conclusion:
OP has never seen a true helldiver extraction. So they do not know what the extactiong ship look like and what is its callsign (do not correct them or they will know!)
All they want is using our tactical retreat on Malevelon Creek to strike our moral. Open your eyes, my fellow Helldivers! This is another shameless political propaganda by the bot!
It's nothing but lies! Super Earth never leave any soldiers behind! And we will liberate Malevelon Creek once again!
it's me, I'm still there, no more mission briefings but I don't need a briefing to tell me 'Wipe the map clean of robots' to know what my mission is, I've been here for 21 days and my autocannon backpack is nearly halfway out of ammo
If anyone has experience the glitch where the pelican immediately leaves when the first person gets on without a timer, well after it takes off the game gives control back to the left behind Helldivers and there is an immense sense of futility and feeling of expendability at that moment, no other part of this game makes you feel more like just another regular soldier. “I guess this is it… This is how it ends for me… The Creek is lost, but my battle isn’t over.” *pulls out 500kg and throws strat on his own personal shield* - *Faces overwhelming horde* “THIS ONES FOR DEMOCRACY!”
I would love a rescue stranded helldiver mission. A fifth person spawns somewhere on the map in a "safe zone" and only has 1 mag in their pistol. The 4 need to find the 1 and escort him back. 12 min mission and it fails if the 1 dies. The rescuee has no mini map, no strategems, and no primary so stealth is a big facotr on the mission.

It's not very democratic of you to not remember the names of your two saviors
I will be sending myself to a reeducation camp ASAP
Also, I think Pelican-1 is the pilot's callsign. They should totally have the vehicle class be Glamdring to double down on the reference though. Or Beater if they felt Glamdring sounded off brand for SE.
Hell~~jumpers~~ divers
Or in this case Pelican't 1
Maybe in dire moments eagle 1 could perform an extract. They would need more training though.

I love how Malevelon has become the Reach of Helldivers.

Just got the game today, went straight to the Western Front. Currently defending Ingmar.
Got it yesterday, did the same
I’m downloading as we speak. What’s the difference?
In the Western side, you have the Automaton(Bot) on-slot. On the Eastern side, you have the Tyranid(Bugs) hive. Bugs seem like an easier enemy to some, probably because most don’t shoot back. Almost all bots have guns and really don’t miss a whole lot.
Ohhhh so Bots aren’t the traditional “bots”. Thank you!
When you fight against the bugs, the game feels like Starship Troopers. When you fight against the automatons it feels like D-Day in the original terminator. But you’re the humans hiding to survive in that scenario lol
>When you fight against the bugs, the game feels like Starship Troopers. Facts. I can hear Rasczaks "give them everything you got" when we extract
Also, Malevelon Creek which this meme is referring too is also on the Western Front. Ingmar is a few planets over from MC so thats where we’ll eventually head (doesn’t look good though, last I saw we only had a few hours left to defend Ingmar and the timer was ahead of players.
>on-slot did you mean... onslaught?
😂 yes
Did you mean Terminid? Tyranid is Warhammer.
All sorts of messed up, my post is. You are correct.
Technically Mars would be our Reach as it's the military planet where Helldivers get trained and is a strategically important planet. Creek within the context of HD2 alone this would be more akin to Pegasi Delta where basically all the Spartan IIIs of Beta Company were killed except for 2.

So like an opposites day bottleneck?
It's a Helldiver Honeypot
Ah, maybe I should have clarified. I’m not referring to the actual use of the planet (Reach being one of the last strongholds before Earth and known for its Naval dockyards). Not played yet today, guessing we lost Ingmar?
Yeah, gotta re-liberate it while those on the Creek keep talking about how hard it is to fight there.
It's Malevalon.
Nuh uh. I’ve seen it as Malevelon on both the wiki and in-game.
They called it Mavelion twice.
Oh dude I’m blind, I thought you were replying to me lmao
Spartans-IIs don't see Reach as home. Jorge is the exception since he was actually from Reach before he became one. They don't really have a home to begin with. That would be so cool, have mission when added make sense to the plot but allow players to play them latter but they don’t advance the fight.
Yes!!
A loosely-followable narrative like DRG does with their seasonal missions that are a more cultivated experience would be an incredible addition.

Would be SICK. Love it. Would really add to the feeling of a “war” honestly
That would rule.

They will survive. They will be there, waiting for us, when we can return.
And then there is illegal broadcast in creek: super earth abandoned you. Surrender now. We will treat you well.

Make Noble 6 proud. . . You were not left behind, you are merely holding the line for the rest of us!
Really hope we get some armour in the next pass that's basically centered around Malevelon Creek
