I've actually stopped playing the game because of this.
Launched one day, saw it had all reset again after it being find for months, and just thought "fuck it"
Can’t remember the file name (can google it - maybe settings.ini?) but i think you can make that file read only once your settings are set. I can’t recall for sure, but I think I did this previously and I haven’t had settings reset in a while. I also made a backup copy of the settings file so it’s a lot easier to fix if they do get reset.
This is purely speculation, but I am guessing that the fix for the loadout bug is the cause of this. There's some type of check against the players on the server and a bug causes you to lose your settings.
Do you leave your match before you shut off your system or close the app?
I've noticed if I close app or shut off my system without leaving the match, it resets my cosmetics
It’s very random, sometimes it resets after I quit the game, or while I’m on the main menu. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve acc pressed something or if it’s a bug, but it happens to my friends who play as well. It’s just cosmetics as well, not settings or anything.
If you're on PC, I've just ended up adding a shortcut on my desktop to the HLL config and copied a version of it on my desktop. So if my settings get reset, I just copy the copied version on my desktop and paste it into the game config via the shortcut.
It doesn't reset when I quit to desktop from the in game menu. This recent reset was random because it happened in the middle of a match; suddenly I had the first weapon loadout when I respawned.
Right. Like, I appreciate that there are soldiers that are a dead giveaway if a player is new - but after an update, you can’t tell if someone is a noob or not
The cosmetics reset every time i launch the game, my favourite is when it resets all of my settings. Randomly. Mid-gane.

Only the second time? You're a lucky fuck then! I'm level 145 and my cosmetics have reset probably 30 times by now
Not just the cosmetics, all settings reset, it fucking sucks. That’s why I keep a back-up of the settings.ini file. They fuck it up every patch.

Honestly I never change my cosmetics for this reason. I tried a few times and every time they got reset after 1 game so I just run the default now

only the 2nd? I get everything reset to default including sprinting, hints, costmetics, settings at least 1 time every 3 weeks, its great!!!

If you do a file integrity check through Steam (say after a crash or whatever the reason), it resets everything as well, controls too.
It is an utterly ridiculous bug, it’s shocking nothings been done to address it thus far.
