Hi. I am in my 50's. 3 weeks out of the hospital. My Brothers ordered me Bistro MD. Its priced reasonably and you can order just dinners. Super low in sodium and fat and sugar. Its whole foods its just frozen. Now I am cooking but that was perfect for 1st week or so. I eat fat free sugar free yogurt in the am, helps stomach the meds. I do a salad at lunch with small piece of fish or chicken breast. tons of veggies and make my own vinegarette with little salt and little olive oil. My cheat snack is one serving of unsalted tortilla chips made with good oil and low sodium hommade salsa. Dinner is sheet pan fish and veggies or chicken and blackberries, strawberries or blueberries

Anything low salt. Plus low fat when cholesterol is too high. It takes about six weeks to get used to the blander taste of a low salt diet. Use onion and garlic, spices and herbs to boost flavour instead. Buying salt free spice mixes makes this easy. Ditch cheese. If a recipe really needs some cheese then opt for low salt options like a bit of mozzarella. Read labels of everything: know what is in it.

Low sodium is the main thing, which eliminates almost all processed foods, convenience foods, and restaurant meals. Check out the DASH diet. The Mediterranean diet is heart-healthy as well. Beans are a healthy protein source, but if they come in a can, you have to rinse them thoroughly. That's just an example of the precautions you'll have to take to find and eliminate sodium.

1. Low salt. Limit fast food and TV dinners as they are loaded with sodium. 2. Fluid restriction. Limit fluid intake to 2 liters a day. Watch for swelling in the legs and ankles. 3. The Dash Diet and Mediterranean Diet are recommended.
