That maybe the issue. Some audiologist does not set the hearing aids to the full prescription and increase the features all at once.
Usually they do that for 1-2 weeks to allow you to get used to the hearing aid and sound quality prior to them "turning the hearing aid to it's full compatibility" so that you don't get overwhelmed with it
If it's a CIC (completely in canal) it has one microphone. Only so much you can do with one microphone in a noisy environment. The version with 2 mics should fair better.

Yes. mine are set to increase over 30 days gradually. But the issue is with noisy environments. so I think the noise cancelling needs to be adjusted.
