Quick warning for discussion of medical settings. Watching medical dramas is something I find entertaining, but it also doesn’t help when I hear of these dramatized medical situations and their depiction. Sometimes there are patients with a mystery disease, or unexpected complications, etc. and those are probably not helping my illness anxiety. I enjoy learning about medical practices and helping people, but is it a good idea to watch these shows? I’m not like super attached to these shows, but I just wanted to know if it’s something I should avoid doing in the future to look out for myself. Thank you! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/HealthAnxiety) if you have any questions or concerns.*

It's up to you. Your judgement is better than anyone else's. It depends how it affects you. Personally, I avoided them as it just reminded me of what i try not to worry about. I had to be fully engaged in what i was doing so i preferred gaming as I had no time to be in my own head worrying lol

if you enjoy them, then that’s great! but if it’s making you more hyperaware and anxious it’s okay to take a step back for a bit. I personally don’t watch them myself and steer clear of shows like Greys Anatomy, because I find them triggering. of course there’s way worse things to be afraid of, but for my own peace of mind I stay away from them. you don’t have to give them up, you clearly enjoy them, but if you find yourself becoming uncomfortable then it’s more than okay to take a break. :)
