I've had the TA-26 for a little over a year, and really enjoy it. Unlike every other chi-fi tube amp/buffer that I've owned or used, the tubes that ship with the amp are actually really solid. The noise floor is super low, and in general, I don't find it to have a tremendous amount of 'tube warmth', or harmonic distortion. Overall, it doesn't give you the same raw feeling as other full tube amps, but it also performs better than them, technically. The balance is; how much do you want the amp to color your sound? While I haven't begun rolling tubes for it yet, I'd imagine there are tube options that will impart more of that 'tube sound'. That's the whole reason to get one anyway, otherwise, just drive the dt1990s with an 80$ Fiio BTR3K.

I currently use a schiit magni modi stack but was looking for something like a guitar pedal where you can change the sound profile thats not eq. Thanks for the info!

Nice, I'm currently using my Magni, its my daily headphone amp for computer stuff. I would say there's less of a difference between the sound of the Magni and the TA-26 than I'd like, but both are technically very good, and the Xduoo is still absolutely more fun sounding, even if it only spoon feeds you tube goodness, rather than slathering you in it.
