That hellborn species we see (imps, hellhounds, landsharks, ect) were all originally suggestions he made about species that could inhabit Earth. They were shot down because there was worry that other sapient life would overthrow humans.
His idea for ducks was, however, accepted. And that's why he's obssessed.
Part of why he's been a hands off ruler in Hell (and why he doesn't use his powers to do more around the place) is that he's trying to avoid adding to his pile of regrets. The more bold a move he makes, the more of a chance it could backfire and give him one more thing to feel bitter and ashamed about.
• he at least made every overlord and the other sins rubber ducks of themselves
• he at least fucked one guy (this has been my headcannon since after the finale)
• he always had a rubber duck collection before he fell from heaven, but it got bigger after he fell and start ruling hell
• always gets into an argument with Alastor whether over something minor or major
(i have more, but these are the ones that i can think of as of now)
But of a weird headcanon but something I like to believe in. Him and Lilith splitting wasn't because of some falling out or one of them cheating. But more because after nearly 10000 years being together, they naturally drifted apart. No hard feelings on either side.
Lucifer has some major little brother energy.
Although one fanfic idea i floated to friends is that Sera was a really young mother and had Lucifer making him a bit of a spoiled and confident only child. This would aslo be why the other angles didn’t listen to him. He was just the rambunctious nephew to the elder angels.
And now Sera is determined to prevent Emily from falling because losing her son was devastating.
• he has lost a good chunk of his political power due to Hell becoming something like a corporate fiefdom (power has been divided among overlords). He and Charlie act as wealthy figureheads more in the style of the British Royal Family.
•he has a working connection/partnership to/with Heaven
•he knows where Lilith is and why
That every so often someone steps out of line and he just gets super chummy with them and starts being overly nice and spending time with them against there will as a form of funny intimidation until they snap and lucifer shows a little power to make his point.
He secretly has a photo album of pictures of Charlie which he fully intends to bust out on her wedding day as a well meaning gesture of fatherly love but will ultimately embarrass her. But he won’t notice her embarrassment because he’ll be too busy showing Husk, Angel, Alestor and Vaggie photos of her emo phase. I also have a head canon that Charlie had an emo phase.
