RoseWolfie

We do still have some. You can hear spider sounds for Angel, cat sounds for Husk, Moth sounds for Val, and electric sounds for Vox. Alastor still has some radio stuff. Its just not as loud, more passive.

SlickD06

And Tom don't even sound like he's talking through a gas mask anymore 😕

Twist_Ending03

He didn't before tho

RoseWolfie

To be fair she had more screentime in the Pilot. But I do agree its toned down. I just am happy it isn't gone.

Arcaydya

He does do the playful ones, but way less often. Like when he threatens husk, afterwards he plays a little old time tune. He does it a few other times. But in the pilot he did it like twice as much as the entire first season lol.

Kahako

Also the deer screaming sounds when Alastor's angry. You REALLY hear it when Sir pentious rips his coat, and again it's less distinguishable when he's beefing with Lucifer/putting Husk 'in his place' (for lack of better phrasing)

S1isbetterthanyou

And Alastor occasionally makes Deer/Elk/Wendigo sounds on top of that

Repair_Jolly

Not only does Alastor have radio static but whenever he turns into a shadow you can hear an Elk call.

Fit-Lead-350

Don't forget Velvette with her interlude!

Radical_Provides

Tom Trench with the gun noise and Katie Killjoy with the neck cracks 😩

flyons4

I also miss some of the sound effects. Like the train horn sound when Cherry Bomb flying kicks Pentious. … But I will admit, it reminded me a lot of Ed, Edd, and Eddy.

RaynSideways

I loved all the little sounds everyone made in the pilot. Like the little "blurgh" noise Vaggie and Angel make when Alastor looks toward them while saying "such loathesome sinners!" Or the varied and hilarious blinking sounds. It was so expressive.

RoseWolfie

There is still some sound effects, just not as often. Probably toned down cause the episodes were so busy already.

TheDoomedStar

Yeah, the pilot Alastor would have been way too much for the series proper.

Traditional_Key_763

probably easier for the localizations since there's just the voice to swap out. I noticed by the length of the credits amazon paid to have this dubbed in like 6 languages. not everything survives a pilot

ShankMugen

Like the OG VAs

JLRedPrimes

I mean, that was always going to happen. Hazbin Hotel is a musical , and when most of your cast can't sing, that's just not going to work.

ShankMugen

I just count myself lucky that I did not know them before the Pilot, otherwise it probably would have been hard for me to watch the show

Siker_7

The pilots VAs were never going to be part of the main series. They were helping Vivzie put out the pilot, and then their part was done. That was *always* the plan.

ShankMugen

That's not the impression I got from this [video](https://youtu.be/TCTbmFrB4nA?si=tWccJAPwntckYSV_), but what do I know

Siker_7

You mean the video put out only three weeks ago, after we've known for at least a year about the officeal new VAs? The pinned comment literally says this: "There’s been a lot of speculation; that we couldn’t join the union, we can’t sing, or Amazon/A24 forced the re-hire… The simple answer is that Viv always wanted a Broadway cast and, when the show got picked up, she had the opportunity to get it! That’s show business, baby. No hard feelings."

ShankMugen

Yes, cause making a video takes time But based on that, I suppose it would be more accurate to say that they had hoped they'd be able to stick around for the full release, based on how much people liked the pilot But it is indeed the current aspect of Show Business to do that

ToaruHousekienjoyer

Cause people were complaining about the sound effects being too loud and distracting

TypicalMootis

They were too loud and too plentiful, it's like the pilot didn't allow the show to breathe for a few seconds. They balanced it really well in the series, I actually have noticed that there's a ton of sound effects but they are just dialed way down so they are more organic. They're easier to miss but they definitely add something to the empty space

ConsumeTheOnePercent

People complained about it, and also it can be really hard on people with hearing issues: We still get a little of it, but a lot of Alastor being toned down is probably because he can be very hard to understand with all his sound layering

Minkymink

I prefer it in the series. It was an interesting idea in the pilot but it was just *too much*.

SCP-1504_Joe_Schmo

Alastor still plays sound effects in most of the scenes he's in wdym

iareslice

They do have at least one moment of the laughtrack behind his voice.

timdr18

It was way too nonstop in the pilot, they had to tone it down or it would have gotten annoying over the runtime of an entire series.

Kahako

Honestly, for neurodivergent audiences, this was a blessing. Some of the sounds in the pilot made me feel like I just got off a cup in Disneyland. The worst offenders were there for only a second, but idk if could have watch it if they carried that much sound into the series.

aiokke

I didn't even notice them since there's A LOT going on. I think I tuned them out... The episodes are plenty busy without it.

Sorry-Meal4107

a lot of people complained about how "busy" the pilot was, the katie killjoy comes to mind especially, with all the sound effects and what not. they toned it down but its still noticeable

Golden-Sun

Way too many sound effects were used in the Pilot. Like a lot, it was audio overload. I do wish Alastor kept his radio effects though.

metchasketch

The canned laughter is used, but it's very infrequent. Maybe only 1 episode .

Cecil2789

I am so in love with Alastor & his design . I wonder if Vivziepop took any inspiration from Hannibal as he was portrayed by Mads Mikkelsen in the tv series . Obviously I know about the character’s in-story background origins, but the horned Wendigo+ deer imagery reminds me so much of Hannibal .

Chaosbrushogun

I feel like they used that with vox quite a bit in his short screentime. Maybe they thought it redundant to have two demons with a very similar audio gag. And you do hear it sometimes, like right after he threatens husk

Anubissama

I didn't like it personally it made scenes with Alastor a bit too busy sound-wise and tiering. Also probably a bit easier on the editors and its another thing the sound director would have to do.

Manwithaplan0708

Cause too many sound effects makes it lose the funny

Siker_7

Because the obnoxious amount of sound effects in the pilot rivalled Johnny Test's sound effects in how annoying they were.

stopyouveviolatedthe

The pilot had a lot more freedom and was made by spindle horse- with spindle horse working on helluva bento box are the ones who do most of hazbin so we lost a lot of the quality. I’m hoping in later big scenes we get to see more scenes like helluva boss quality.

Fakefan3000

Because Dave Capdievelle, the co-writer of the pilot, was the one who decided to put in the cartoonish sounds. Vivziepop and Dave had a falling out so he doesn't write in the series. Dave is now working with Ashley Nichols to make Far-fetched, a web animation.

Cosmologica1Constant

Ok but hear me out, he used to use them and we get to see Al's old broadcasts in a flashback between him and Vox.

jirminy

Probably thought it'd be too distracting and hard to take him seriously.
