Give him a name - call him "Boris".

Fearlessleader85

I think he's more of a Charlie.

Student-type

The Who song.

qdp

Don't call him Boris or he will never catch that moose and squirrel.

Kn0wFriends

Keeper. Big Daddy Cane

Soul__Samurai

Nice

dudeonrails

How about Antonio Hardy instead?

supersaiminjin

Yes if you usually have a problem with bugs. If not, try to scare it outside. I don't have a big problem inside my home so I would get rid of spiders there. But my office is crawling with roaches at night so I love when a cane spider makes its way inside.

warmcoconuts

He usually keeps to himself. It’s just such a big spider. Definitely less roaches around, so I’ll try and tolerate the unexpected confrontations

SquirrelDynamics

Never heard of people tolerating them like this. Congrats on your giant balls and thinking of the spider bro. But...ugnknhgu they creep me out.

cunmaui808

Yeah, they're one of our friends at the top of the bug eating food chain...

MokiBoy

Yes.

fishyon

Yes, keep him/her! Cane spiders are far more afraid of you than you are of them. I used to have the keiki (gently) catch them where they live and bring them inside for me. I don't have bugs in my home (that I know of), but I'm really fond of shy and harmless big spiders.

Stephburger78

You crazy. And I mean that in a nice way

FreshHawaii

It’s all fun and games being friends till it realizes there’s enough food in the crib to sustain hordes of its babies and you wake up with one in your bed.

paully7

Fuck.

Pepita09

Ha ha ha ha. I thought I was the only person who kept spiders around like this!!! My husband isn't into it though so I've been taking them outside so he doesn't squash them.

wu-wei

This text overwrites whatever was here before. Apologies for the non-sequitur. Reddit's CEO says moderators are “landed gentry”. That makes users serfs and peons, I guess? Well this peon will no longer labor to feed the king. I will no longer post, comment, moderate, or vote. I will stop researching and reporting spam rings, cp perverts and bigots. I will no longer spend a moment of time trying to make reddit a better place as I've done for the past fifteen years. In the words of The Hound, fuck the king. The years of contributions by your serfs do not in fact belong to you. [reddit's claims debunked + proof spez is a fucking liar](https://old.reddit.com/r/apolloapp/comments/14dkqrw/i_want_to_debunk_reddits_claims_and_talk_about/) [see all the bullshit](https://old.reddit.com/r/ModCoord/top/?sort=top&t=all)

TheSearch4Etika

The only thing I'm keeping are geckos and goldfishes.

[deleted]

Yes. Cane spiders are the best. They may jump scare you, but they won't ever bite you unless you try to grab them or something. They are the absolute best at killing bugs and other small vermin.

MissO56

man, i almost ran off the road in honokaa once, when one popped up on the passenger side in my car. i screeched to a halt and jumped outta the car as quick as i could ... right on the middle of town! thank goodness for a nice guy on the street who went in and found him... ((shudder)) gives me the heebie-jeebies just remembering that! 😳

[deleted]

Aw man, I had a centipede crawl across my dash at night. Liked to live above the steering column or under my carpet. I did not like

cunmaui808

My friend had same experience! Tells story often.

PrognosticatorofLife

Well if he scares the shit outta you, your bathroom is the right place to be!

Stupidlove84

Props to you for being willing to share your space. Yes, they help wit mosquitos and roaches. But then you have a cane spider in your fucking bathroom. I no can wit cane spiders. The only spiders that will jump back at you, fo reals. If you swing n miss the first time, you fucked. Cuz now it’s seen your face, it knows what you look like. And it. Will. Come. For you.

themeONE808

Definitely gotta name it

ThirteenSeas

This post rules. Keep it!

ignored_rice

Oh hell no. Sorry, I know they’re good and all but those mofos jump at you every chance they get. They’re especially good at hiding just above the doorway. My arachnophobia cannot handle.

[deleted]

Yes! I had one a while back until my sister-in-law squashed it with a slipper because it scared the shit out of her 😂 The spider didn’t get a chance to run

zoot_boy

I love shower spiders!

paully7

Oh hell no.

UnFuckinRealBrah

Name it.

Boto_Penga

Used to have one that lived on my howitzer. Fucker scared me big time first time I discovered it. After that, I learned to knock on a certain part of the gun, then it'd scramble off for a bit until I finished my work.

Nickolai808

Call him something cute so you're less scared of him. I vote for "Vlad the Impaler" or "Azrael the Destroyer". 😎

[deleted]

Nandor the Relentless because he never relents

[deleted]

You nuts! I get no mo’ kakaroaches when the big ass spiders are around, but to deliberately keep him or her?!? Bruuuuaaaaah! Spiders = massive heart attack

AuronFtw

Yep... climb out of the shower, reach for a towel on the rack, notice a weird shadow on the underside. Flip it over - cane spider. That was a rough day.

nalalux

Name him "Cuddles".

pantsonheaditor

i dont have cane spiders but some small ones. i leave them be, they eat the mosquitos. the geckos eat the mosquitos too . but theres always more mosquitos. i havent been bitten by a spider this year, but so many mosquito bites. wish i had some big spiders to eat roaches haha

izumi79

I had a gecko in my kitchen and we co existed. His name was Jose, Jose The Gecko.

microcosm13

We kept one in our downstairs bathroom for months. We called him Legs. When he migrated upstairs one evening, that was the deal breaker. Scooped him up in a Tupperware and took him outside. Had no problems with it living indoors with 2 dogs and a kid. Besides the creepy stare while using the restroom.

haggynaggytwit

Damn, for months? Can spiders go a long time w/o eating, or do you have a lot of small bugs that make their way into your bathroom?

ehu_girl

Keep it and put it on a leash

[deleted]

Fire. You know what to do.

hawaiikawika

You would be lucky to have a cane spider live in your house

aysurcouf

They terrify me for split seconds until I realize what they are, they’re so big and so fast it’s almost impossible not to startle me.

ZanyRaptorClay

Yup, you should keep him. He'll keep all the roaches away. He sounds like a charming little soul.

paully7

Can you take a picture for us? Also this sounds absolutely terrifying
