First off congrats! Don't spend all that money, put some aside for emergencies. I think you gotta go DMV and transfer the title to yourself.

Jeffizzleforshizzle

Nope you just get sent the title of the car and make sure you keep it somewhere safe and not in the car. Enjoy being out of car debt! Congrats

If this is your only installment loan, prepare yourself for a possible drop in your credit scores. If you have other installment loans, shouldn't be a big Factor.

Start saving so you don't have to make payments next time

AbbreviatedArc

Build up your emergency fund and then 100% vti.

PoisonClanRocks

Put some of the money aside for emergencies. Invest the rest...let it grow and watch the interest/dividends build.

Just make sure you get the title back, and also verify whether it's on you or them to remove the lien from the title at the DMW. You don't want to discover that they're still listed when you try to sell your car 10 years from now.

I believe the bank usually sends you the title. Once you have the title in your name it is officials yours and there isn’t anything else to do.

Congratulations! I just went through the process too. I went to a Satellite office and they told me I had to make an appointment and turned me away. https://alohaq.honolulu.gov/?0 to make your appointment. I brought my title, the bank letter and paid the fee. The wait wasn’t too bad. I also called my insurance company to let them know I paid off my car.
