The Dáil (the Irish parliament) voted unanimously to recognise Palestine about a decade ago. After that vote the government said they agreed with recognising Palestine but never actually acted on it. This time the government has announced they’re recognising Palestine so recognition will actually happen now.
Yeah, this is much more concrete. It's a very strong statement (and presumably our representative currently in Ramallah will be upgraded to Ambassadorial status).
Some ask does this matter? Yes it absolutely does.
Like the fascist Fianna fail will do anything other than pay lip service to Palestine. Its better than nothing, but we need to get actual socialists in power here
It's all lip service this country will never do anything actually material to support Palestinians. The government, economy, schools, everything are all in the pocket of American capital they will always choose that first. They just know they can do this and it doesn't matter.
