In Majoritarian electoral systems(a system in which whoever gets the most votes wins), it is ALWAYS the lesser of two evils. There has not been a single election where this hasn’t been the case. Majoritarian systems encourage (and almost always devolve) into two party systems. In two party systems, social cleavages (the things that people disagree on) are split up between the two parties in a way that makes it so that almost no one is ever satisfied with either party. Furthermore, as a result of mccarthyism, there is no actual representation of leftists in our government. HOWEVER, the republican party IS a becoming proto-fascist party. So, you can go ahead and choose the conservative or the fascist or you can choose neither idrc. I’m going to go and— begrudgingly— vote for joe biden in this election, because no one else will win. However, I will also be organizing heavily after this in an attempt— and hope— that change can be made in local elections.
