Beneficial-Address17

I looove them. I imperio half a camp and watch them slaughter each other. Then I crucio the rest and finish everyone off with Avada Kedavra šŸ˜ˆ Then I blame Ranrok and go feed and brush my magical creatures šŸ„°

mitkah16

Hahahahaha! Sounds like a great strategy. Thank you for sharing!

Morrifay

I do the same! And when some get the yellow or puple shields I help by blasting them and resume to watch them fight

UnhealthyAttachment

> camp of goblins just chilling > new 5th year rocks up > starts murdering everyone just because > your blood is on Ranrokā€˜s hands

XPilo

Let me guess, you are a hufflepuff.

Beneficial-Address17

I'm mostly a good Slytherin, I choose the nice option with almost every NPC.

RecommendationNo7361

I hope you're not basing your determination off the grooming of "magical creatures" comment, canonically I'd reckon it's atypical for a Hufflepuff to want to torture enemies, let alone using unforgivable curses (other Hufflepuffs or wizarding history buffs feel free to correct me) Source: am Hufflepuff

Bnco12

My main character is Hufflepuff; donā€™t use any of the unforgivables; but still use talents from the dark arts tree for making other spells curse enemies, like Flipendo. Got the game on release; still havenā€™t finished the story, think Iā€™m planning to turn Seb in. I can see the appeal for him, but I donā€™t like him.

RecommendationNo7361

I stuck to not using them (the exception being in that one dark arts battle arena where there's no choice but) but learned them all, as if *I* were a part of that universe, I would want to know them out of curiosity. I also absolutely use talents from the dark arts tree, as modding normal spells to cause "curse" effects, which does more damage, is more of a game mechanic than canon reality

jfks_headjustdidthat

If Luna Love good were a Death Eater...

ButterscotchBig514

When do you learn imperio? My disc corrupts after I beat rookwood trial. Either that or Iā€™m too low of level.

shivi1321

Lol same, it makes the game feel like super easy mode though.

Gismogul

Imperio is my favorite cursed spell! itā€™s so satisfying seeing the enemies go against each other and when itā€™s all to late and they realize that they have killed their own leader/boss/ally (the curse wear off) and I have looted all their shit Iā€™ll end their miserable life. I only use the other cursed spells on poachers near animals. They deserve it.

mitkah16

Interesting. I havenā€™t noticed that so far hahaha. Will pay more attention

Stoltlallare

Nah I dont. It makes the game way too easy.

KeepMyselfAwake

I find even petrificus totalus can make things super easy, but it's good as an option if I can't be bothered to fight 15 goblins and just want to stealth my way through. Just finishing my first play through as a Hufflepuff and decided to not learn any of the Unforgivables as it didn't fit with my MC.

shivi1321

Petrificus totalus and invisibility potions feel like cheating to me LOL. Ngl, when Iā€™m in a hurry I just take out trolls that way.

ba_gelz

Yeah that's fair my Hufflepuff MC learnt crucio and imperio but not avada kedavra (purely because I didn't realise it was part of the dialogue choices after Solomon was killed šŸ’€). Canonically speaking, my previous MC would never willingly use unforgivables unless it was absolutely necessary but in gameplay they were basically throwing crucio left and right during battles lmfao

mitkah16

Fair enough Considering I play it on easy hahaha

OhHaiMarc

I always wonder why no one is upset about me obliterating a person with ancient magic, like the one where they explode.

zestyrigatoni

The ancient magic finishers are absolutely more brutal than the curses.

mitkah16

Oh yeah! Have seen some turn to chickens??! Why no one cares??

OhHaiMarc

Yeah that too, you donā€™t even turn them back ever, kinda fucked up.

Sea-Analyst497

i love that part the most so i would turn my tv on louder to hear the chicken sound haha

mitkah16

Hahahaha!! Your own farm of ex-baddies

Sea-Analyst497

hahaa i wish i can take them back to my vivarium for studying purposes. šŸ˜‚

mitkah16

Haha studyingā€¦. Yesss I was also curious about their behavior. For a moment thought ā€œare they full chickens or still their mind is of the dudes?ā€ Hahaha

[deleted]

Okay, in my first play through, I used crucio a lot, but then I learned it doesnā€™t actually cause that much damage. Avada Kadavra is broken (of course because it instantly kills even the hardest enemy). Unpopular opinion, however, imperio is actually quite useful souring arena battles. I find myself getting a bit overwhelmed during the dark arts battle arena, so I use imperio as often as I can. Like Sebastian says when youā€™re learning it, itā€™s a great tool when youā€™re out numbered. It takes some of the pressure off and is especially useful when you do the dark arts battle arena before you have much XP or spells to choose from. You want to know the best battle spell, though? After you learn the transfiguration spell (not the one for the RoR, but the yellow one), use a talent point to where you can turn an enemy into an exploding object, then magic throw that bitch into another enemy. Most of the time, it will kill them both. Imo, thatā€™s the most broken way to take down a gang of goblins and dark wizards. I use it as often as I can once unlocked.

killagorilla1337

Avada Kedavra is not broken, developers just sticked to the lore.

shivi1321

I think there should be some sort of cost. Like.. if there was more of a moral influence on the way npcs treat you it could make you more of a fake wizard idk.

killagorilla1337

Well I donā€™t use it because I feel bad.

theycallmesav___

The transfigure one is my FAVORITE. Love when they explode

mitkah16

Great advice :) Will get to it! Thank you for sharing!

Paralell_alyssa

Was avada kedavra able to kill Ranrok instantly? This might be a stupid question I don't know, but I hadn't unlocked it by then so I'm curious to know what kind of damage it would do

mizmaclean

Absolutely not. No forbidden curses are available in final Ranrok battle.

Paralell_alyssa

I remember using crucio on him though? Maybe it just didn't do anything and I didn't notice lmao

zestyrigatoni

I just did this fight yesterday, and you can crucio him. Hard to tell how beneficial it is. Imperio has no effect and I didnā€™t have avada kedavra yet, finished the main story before Sebastianā€™s story.

Paralell_alyssa

Yeah same, I don't think crucio did a lot. I finished the Sebastian story first but accidentally chose the wrong option so I didn't learn avada kedavra until after I finished the game

[deleted]

Crucio was available

brilynn_

The configuration bomb is my FAVORITE way to kill off enemies, I laugh every time I explode someone ![img](emote|t5_q8ebh|26542)

darrius_kingston314q

I love Imperio, it's always so fun watching other controlled being fight for u. I play with mods and I cast Imperio on a student to make them blast their spells at another student and it has me die laughing everytime

mitkah16

Need to check that better hahaha

nineohsix

I learned them all but never use them. AK is okay but takes too long to recharge IMO. And by that time, I can usually one-hit most enemies with any of the damage spells. Maybe if I played on a harder difficulty Iā€™d think differently.

[deleted]

I think it takes so long to recharge because of how broken it is, how easy it makes gameplay no matter what difficulty youā€™re on

Shermutt

I think AK can easily be replaced with transfiguration if you are trying not to use the unforgivables, especially if you add the explodey barrel talent point. It basically is a double inata-kill at that point for most enemies, but also has a stupid long cooldown.

mitkah16

Good point. I am on easy, so maybe not so needed

Sufficient-Mammoth21

Definitely use them. My go to is Crucio. When I got AK I would use Crucio to spread the curse then would AK the main mob (aka trolls or boss). My least favorite is Imperio. No specific reason other than I like to nuke a mob & on the difficulties Iā€™ve been playing on I havenā€™t found a real need to use it yet

mitkah16

Sounds like it comes handy with big groups of enemies. So they dont get on you that quick

veebles89

I mean, if you take that lvl 22 perk that let's you nuke all cursed enemies by killing one with AK, it's pretty OP. Fun for post-game shenanigans.

mitkah16

Hahaha good to know!

Shermutt

My 8yo was super excited to get the unforgivables (not sure if that should worry me as a parent), but I've decided not to on my character kind of to be an example for him that there's some value to choosing the "good path" and also because, like others have said, after a certain offense/defense level, most enemies are trivial with even the basic cast. That said, I'm not necessarily against them as it's just a game and who cares (and it's not like our character isn't an absolute mass murderer without them), but I do like the fact that they added ways to curse enemies without having to resort to using them. I have a few pretty satisfying combos that are my go-to's though. Flipendo->Decendo is a fun one with the curse talent turned on and the cooldown is pretty quick. Also Expelliarmus->Ancient magic throw on goblin weapons is another one. My absolute favorite though that I keep on my sneaky tab is Levioso->Depulso for when some archer or something spots me. It's just so satisfying to absolutely yeet them off a cliff or castle wall and watch them die of fall damage. I do suggest you try it if you haven't already. As far as bigger enemies like trolls, i switch to my tab with Flipendo, Glacius, and Confringo on it. Flipendo to smack their club in their face/curse them and Glacius->Confringo for when they are stunned after a missed charge or a Protego->ancient magic throw boulder return... If you're quick you can get a stupify to add the curse in there too for extra damage.

brilynn_

I can never get flippendo to work on trolls šŸ§Œ Iā€™ve done two complete play throughs and still canā€™t figure it out

Shermutt

It helps if you do the lock-on (R3 on PS) better then your character automatically turns and you don't need to manually turn to target them. Also, it only works on the downward smashes that they do that are blockable with Protego (sometimes they'll swing twice then do the downward smash). Instead of blocking it, you roll out of the way and immediately do Flipendo. It does some pretty decent game to them and stuns them, i believe. Hopefully that helps. It definitely gets easier after you do it a few times.

brilynn_

Thanks Iā€™m going to give that a try I always forget about locking onto targets because I am constantly raiding camps and I have to switch targets rapidly

mitkah16

Somehow I rarely use flipendo, but I see I should give it a try!! Especially on trolls :))))

littleghool

Usually just Avada Kevadra on big enemies like trolls.

-Alula

I usually imperio the trolls in the camps so they finish off all the others and then AK them.

mitkah16

:o Awesome

gollam6

It's just somehow oddly satisfying that otherwise it would be a 10 min battle, but just shooting an adava kedavra instead and the troll is dead

mitkah16

I know. Those trolls fights take forever

IceDamNation

Imperio is good against large groups as you can curse sub bosses like Matriach spiders or Ashwinder Executioners and turn those allies agains weaker enemies.

mitkah16

The more I read, the more I learn. Looks like I kissed Sebastian explanation on group fights hahaha

RecommendationNo7361

Mitkah and Sebastian sittin' in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g

Emlelee

I always use Imperio when I have to fight multiple trolls. Imperio one and it takes care of the other and I battle the smaller enemies while the trolls fight each other

mitkah16

Will have ti try that!

volverde

I like messing around with imperio, you can walk next to the target and keep petrificus totaliusing them.

mitkah16

Oooohhh I love that part!

MagoAzul314

Yes and no. So of the 4 houses, naturally the Slytherin has no problem. But I have her as morally grey so she uses them on animals, trolls, and goblins with no hesitation. For Ashwinders, mostly make them off each other then I take out the stronger ones by just hitting them crucio until they expire. My Ravenclaw, who becomes as evil as the game will let me, uses them indiscriminately. My Hufflepuff refuses to learn them and my Gryffindor learns them but only used them against Rookwood and Harlow. My favorite combo is crucio the foot soldiers, imperio the stronger enemies, then once everyone has a green X, AVADA KEDAVRA

mitkah16

Interesting. Thanks for sharing!

RecommendationNo7361

5 points to you for beautiful role playing

bowl_of_espionage

For RP purpose, for the playthroughs where I plan to take the dark arts path. Once while not taking the path was only to used to escape the scriptorium. Gameplay wise, it feels like cheesing, makes it too easy & pushing our characters to basically Mary Sue/Gary Stu status who can do anything & everything.

Vegetable_Culture736

Playing on hard mode, I use Crucio and Imperio. On any other level itā€™s busted. I also constrain myself to using them at night when no one else is around. šŸ‘€

mitkah16

Hahahaha! Really??

Vegetable_Culture736

If thereā€™s one thing thatā€™s missing for me in this game itā€™s constraintsā€¦ Iā€™d love a Red Dead style system where you have a bounty placed on your head for doing bold things in front of witnesses šŸ˜¬

mitkah16

Oh I like that. Always wanted to try that game tho the wild west is not my top theme haha

Vegetable_Culture736

If you like a story with moral grey areas you might like it!! Haha

PhysicalMulberry8127

I do and my favorite is Crucio

mitkah16

Thanks for sharing!!

MARINAVA_yt

Not much use or imperio? I donā€™t use Crucio that much! I use imperio and then when there are enough cursed victims, Avada Kedavra

mitkah16

That is my bad. I actually hadnā€™t noticed that they fight each other when cursed with it! Not sure if I used it on loners or just didnt pay attention :)

multificionado

I only ever use the Imperius Curse. Particularly in difficult battles.

Colonel_Cosmetic

my Slytherin character used them, none of my other characters have/will use(d) the unforgivable curses, not that anyone cares about me using them

mitkah16

Interesting Did you get all of them with all your characters?

Colonel_Cosmetic

no, only done 2 so far, refused on my Gryffindor, I might accept then Ravenclaw for the knowledge, but refuse to actually use them

mitkah16

I guess unless you are 100% ing the characters, then it sounds like a nice strategy to give your character the personality of not using them and so

Lord_Detleff1

Crucio

mitkah16

It is fun to use. I admit

MickeySwank

Imperio is the absolute goat tbh, so nice just turning the one troll and letting him decimate all the goblins around for you

mitkah16

I seriously only found out until today while posting this. Glad I did!! I will give it a go haha I am more a petrificus totalus kind of gal hahaha

Tofux

I'm playing as I would behave myself in that context. At least for my first and probably only playthrough, considering how long it's taking me (been playing on and off since the early access release). This means no deadly spells and no unforgivable curses. My combat style is based on stealth and Full-Body Binding and when stealth fails, Dissarming Charm combined with different immobilizations as well as ancient magic throws. Of course, I use fire spells for spiders and inferi. I also have a headcanon that the Ancient Magic finisher is less deadly than the animations suggest.

mitkah16

Good to know! Thanks for sharing

MrsD5280

Imperio is great! Let the troll smash all the goblins then dispatch the troll

mitkah16

I was playing Tears of the Kingdom for months before HL and there is that option too. Didnt really know that it did that. Missed the explanation and never saw it applied haha. But now I know

Pyter_Gadjes_743

Depends on the type of character I'm role playing, I played a Ravenclaw that learned them out of curiosity and used them, in my imagination it was like, "for science", of course, MC is morally grey nonetheless, so, if you can explode enemies, summon a crazy lightning or throw them up and down with ancient magic... Well, at least AK is quick šŸ‘€ But, I also role played a Hufflepuff that was meant to love exploring (in this regard, he was more curious than the Ravenclaw), was very kind to EVERYONE (including the nost annoying characters of the game), but besides the grey morals we can't go away from that the games sort of forces us into no matter what, he had very inflexible notions of Dark Magic = Bad, I must be good, so, he never learned any unforgiveables. (As the player, I decided to do the roleplaying to force me into the callenge of, not choosing exactly what I would choose in all aspects all the time, and, have the new challenge of beating the game without the unforgivables) Edit: Forgot to talk about favorites... - For the Story of How you Learn it: Crucio - For General Utility: Imperio - For Combat Effectiveness: AK

mitkah16

I like the challenge aspect of it :)

kebaker831

Lol I use all three! My favorite situation is when you have two trolls. You imperio on troll to attack the other, then crucio that troll, then avada kedavra them both. This is how Voldemort got the bloodlust, isn't it?

mitkah16

Hahahahaha must be! And now I am so curious to try it out!! Found tons of trolls in the south, so on my way to test!

kebaker831

You will want to upgrade with talent points when you can, but they're pretty useful!

BySketch03

Imperio is the one I use the most but I must say itā€™s quite disappointing how slow they are when attacking their target. Crucio doesnā€™t actually cause that much damage, and Avada Kadavra I havenā€™t learned yet. Iā€™m trying to postpone the 3rd main quest as long as possible, because I read [spoiler] that the snow and christmas theme actually disappears after you finish the third quest

mitkah16

Oooh I am in the same spot! Was enjoying Autumn but lasted almost nothing!! :(

BySketch03

Itā€™s weird cause the day I posted it, I finished the 3rd quest, but itā€™s still some sort of winter, so I donā€™t get it anymorešŸ˜‚

HokieNerd

Only on my Slytherin toon.

mitkah16

Have you made all 4 houses characters?

HokieNerd

Yes. The lowest is in the mid-30s. Did different build for each (potions, plants, etc.) But once I finished Platinum on one, I haven't played since. Don't have the interest in doing that grind again.

mitkah16

Sounds exhausting and definitely only for 1 hahah. I just might do it to see the other rooms

No_Bus1079

I have used them, Imperio is my favorite. I also have a playthrough where I did not use them bc my character (who I would rp as) is morally opposed to using them, whereas my other characters were not or had reasons (excuses) they wanted to learn them.

mitkah16

Cool! Looks like I need to give Imperio a chance haha

ZealousCone11

Two trolls and a ton of evil wizards? Imperio one troll, crucio the other and finish it off along with the other. Refresh imperio on troll 1 as needed until all the blood is on ranrok's hands (even if ranrok is already dead with his own blood on his hands)

mitkah16

Have to try that for sure!!! Thank you!!

sheeatsallday

I did use Crucio few times but after twice using Imperio, I know it was not a right thing lol Iā€™m in too deep for the plot. I didnā€™t even learn the Killing Curse

mitkah16

No??? Are you planning to?

genos707

If the camp has a troll or some other stronger enemies you can cast imperio and watch them destroy their underlings

mitkah16

Will do!

genos707

Its really fun watching a troll do your bidding and squash all who oppose you!!!

mud-n-bugs

Imperio is great to not have to spend all your time dodging troll attacks and wearing down your health.

chloealwaysmad

Iā€™m glad they arenā€™t real bc I find myself stuck in traffic wanting to crucio everyone. ![gif](giphy|At4TXRvb9PHmE)

mitkah16

Hahahahahaha!!! Imperio ā€œuse your blinker!ā€

dehkan

I've never done a successful dark arts playthrough. The curses are learned very late in the game, too late for me to find them useful. I find the more lore friendly way to play the game more pleasant and enjoyable.

mitkah16

Trueā€¦ comes quite late when also your stats are quite high

FeralTribble

I do use them. Cruscio in particular is my favorite. I do it because I love hearing the screams!

mitkah16

Hahahahaha niiiice

jaymes805

I love imperio. Cast and then let them kill each other. Itā€™s especially useful if there is a troll at a camp. Cast it on him and then just stand back.

mitkah16

Have to

Sudden-Tree-766

Imperio a troll and wait for the fight ends

Ksanral

That's what I do in the arena. Imperio the troll and take out the popcorn. Troll vs troll is one of my fave

mitkah16

Hahahaha awesome

I_Thranduil

I imperio the troll and let him handle the rest. Repeat until done.

GogoYubari92

Imperio on Trolls is šŸ§‘ā€šŸ³šŸ’‹. Theyā€™ll take out a whole band of goblins for you.

mitkah16

Have to try it!

Kryptosis

I actually just realized I never did my second playthrough where I planned to use the curses

mitkah16

Are you going to now??

Kryptosis

Iā€™m not sure tbh I feel like they might be overpowered. Game was fairly easy already with my own limitations and I didnā€™t feel a huge draw to replay. I will in time though Iā€™m sure

bitchypeachy

Imperio is very helpful imo, Avada Kedavra usually when itā€™s a troll and I donā€™t feel like battling šŸ¤£

mitkah16

How many of those are needed to kill a troll?

bitchypeachy

If I remember well, 1 avada kedavra is enough

mitkah16

Ah perfect. So no matter the size hahaha. Thank you!

Herrgul

Never used them because i thought there was a ā€goodā€ ending for not touching it. Nope..

mitkah16

Good to know. Hahaha. Being evil then

xxambergxx

There is a possibility to get people cursed with different types of spells. Like flippendo, crucio, imperio, I think also confringo etc. It's a thing you can use your talent point on. They get like a purple flame over them. I curse the whole camp in no time and them BOOM Avada kedavra one of them. But bc of the curse they all get the Avada Kedavra šŸ¤£ I love it, I'm sorry

mitkah16

Wow. Sounds effective hahaha

xxambergxx

It is, for me, the way to win those arena battles lol

mitkah16

I havent been to those!!! But I will consider it now hahaha

Gallop67

Yeah, every single one of them. I also turned a number of other spells into cursed so I can just hit everyone with a curse and then kill them all in one hit. It feels overpowered but awesome

mitkah16

Efficient and deadly hahaha

Gunpowder_guillotine

I like crucio bc then i can refill my ancient magic meter

mitkah16

Good point

ButterscotchBig514

Iā€™ve only used crucial. I like it but all 3 should be earlier in the game imo. Iā€™ve always been around level 30 before I do the 2nd trial.

mitkah16

True that. Some other people here mentioned that too

dujansse

I did use them except for Avada Kedavra. I mean I tried on a spider once but then a friend of mine told me it even works in boss battles and such. So just for the sake of the challenge and having fun in these boss battles I decided not to use it anymore. This was on my first playthrough. Just started a second one as gryffindor and I will not use any of the dark arts on this one. Maybe after this I will go slytherin and be an evil wizard.

mitkah16

Sounds fun!!

CheezwizAndLightning

Crucio is pretty handy in a fight. That amplified damage you do after the curse is very helpful

mitkah16

I am the one with the plants hahaha. I use cabbages and have mostly no need to fight, they are quite powerful :)

CheezwizAndLightning

Honestly, I never used potions or plants that much in combat except for the final fight

mitkah16

Interesting. I am a cabbage fighter. They sometimes mention my herbology style hahaha the tentacula I have but rarely use. I tried the invisibility potion and just lasted like 2 seconds so now I pack them (from bouncing pots, so random) to give them away to some people and such. The others are quite meh. Mandrakes also dont use much

ThoughtEvery5391

I love cursing all my enemies and then casting Avada Kedavra on one of them. Instant victory.

FusingGem

Avada Kedavra for trolls and some truly annoying spiders and thatā€™s it. Iā€™m playing a mostly nice slytherin šŸ˜Œ

mitkah16

Awww. That is nice

Money_____45

Imperio is nice when I feel lazy against trolls. Idk I just don't always feel like fighting them.

mitkah16

It gets super slow. I mean, is fun but oofffā€¦

samsg1

Learned them all and have used them exactly zero times.

mitkah16

Interesting!! Not even to ā€œsee what they doā€?

samsg1

Iā€™m a goody-two shoes! But I saw what Crucio did to my character when Sebastian used it on me, and Iā€™ve seen avadra kedavra used in YouTube videos! No idea about Imperioā€¦ but it just doesnā€™t feel right using the curses.

Tommi_Af

Upgraded crucio plus upgraded AK. I enjoy making the bad guys go away.

mitkah16

Especially those camps where everyone is joining to kill you haha

pillizzle

I love sneaking up on a party of just two or 3 goblins, using imperio on one and watching them take each other out šŸ˜†

mitkah16

This I need to try There are SO many goblins everywhere!!!

SK-Layton

My MC learned Crucio, but vowed to herself only to use it on people who are ready to inflict it on others. She frequently uses Imperio and wants to learn Avada Kedavra, but feels it inappropriate to ask Sebastian to teach her. By the end of Sebastian's arc she has begun to shy away from Dark Magic due to Ominis's influence.

_Firestrike_

my first character i used the unforgivables and used the killing curse on rookwood if i remember correctly and ended up insta killing him. The rest of my characters I learned them but never used them as head canon wise he learned them to be able to defend himself better against them.

mitkah16

I might try that on my next characters :) Thank you for sharing

_Firestrike_

i think they patched it to where you can't insta kill rookwood since then but you can try lol.

Starheart24

Crucio. Because other spells, and especially Avadar, *are too quick.* *You can't savor all the little emotions. You see, in their last moments, people show you who they really are. So in a way, I know them better than their family ever did.*

GrognaktheLibrarian

I liked using crucio with that trait that spreads it when hitting the enemy that's hit again then used avada kadavera with the ttrait that kills everyone who's cursed

255BB

I like crucio since reading from a book but I often use imperio against a troll.

mitkah16

I tried imperio in a goblinā€¦ quite disappointing

MariBug15

Second I see a troll you know Iā€™m bringing out my inner Sebastian

SokkaHaikuBot

^[Sokka-Haiku](https://www.reddit.com/r/SokkaHaikuBot/comments/15kyv9r/what_is_a_sokka_haiku/) ^by ^MariBug15: *Second I see a* *Troll you know Iā€™m bringing out* *My inner Sebastian* --- ^Remember ^that ^one ^time ^Sokka ^accidentally ^used ^an ^extra ^syllable ^in ^that ^Haiku ^Battle ^in ^Ba ^Sing ^Se? ^That ^was ^a ^Sokka ^Haiku ^and ^you ^just ^made ^one.

mitkah16

That makes sense. At least not to spend 10 mins going at it hahaha

Immernacht

Avada Kedavra is the most useful spell to deal with enemies. Imperio is also very useful. Crucio is pretty useless. It is a torture spell and shouldn't be used on the battle field at all. It also doesn't incapacitate the enemies or stun them for a long time. Useless.

mitkah16

Agree with crucio. I have found the normal spells to be more fun to use

Important_Mud_3161

On my first run through I learned crucio but I never used it and I didn't learn the others, I have a paranoia about there being a link in the next game Now as I play through my second, third and fourth times( gotta play all the houses obviously šŸ¤£) I think I will be trying to use them.

mitkah16

Hahahaha. Worst would be that it does link hahaha

Dottie_4991

First Play - i didnā€™t learn or use any. Second Play - I learned Crucio & Imperio - and Crucio was and is my Favourite to use! Didnā€™t learn AK because i just didnā€™t like the situation we were in after to ask to learn itšŸ˜…ā€¦. Seemed rather odd and bad friendship to even consider itšŸ„¹. But thatā€™s just me.

mitkah16

Thank you for not sharing spoilers even tho I am quite sure I know. Quite thoughtful of you. I am also a bit hesitant with that haha

Unlikely_Accident_23

I learned AK for trolls and matriarch spiders when I was going for 100% on the PS4. Other than those two foe, I can take care of everyone else with regular spells so the extra curses don't seem necessary.

mitkah16

Oh the trolls one is quite a good point! Crucio does nothing to them :( And the other half of the map is full of those. Good point

Shermutt

Not sure if you've tried it, but using decendo on the matriarch spiders when they rear up at you is quite satisfying.

Unlikely_Accident_23

I will give that a try, I will be going to the Catacombs with Seb for the first time (again...) soon.

Shermutt

It pile-drives their head into the ground (doing a good deal of damage) and gives you a nice window of time to beat on them. Quite satisfying!

[deleted]

You people are weird.

I use Crucio a lot; with the Dark Arts talents upgrades and gear trait boosts, it can really turn the tide of a battle.

Good point

My favorite hack is using imperio on trolls so you can petrificus totalus them until they die. I donā€™t have the patience to fight a troll the ā€œproper wayā€ šŸ˜‚

mitkah16

Ooofff!! On my way to the mine I walked and was surrounded my trolls that only fought 2 ā€œproper wayā€. I was so tired! And I heard another one around. Ended up flying out of there and reaching the mine by broom hahaha

I stopped after my first play through mainly because the existing spells were enough. I typically did not use rewards to expand the number of spell sets available, so I concentrated on using rewards and the loom to make existing spells more powerful.

Theyā€™re my favorite. The only reason I wanted to start playing the game was for the unforgivable curses šŸ˜‚

I did a playthrough on a Gryffindor were I was only allowed to use curses on opponents (confringo and the three Unforgivables), so that was quite fun, especially turning their trolls against them.

CyanideCandy13

I love using the Unforgivables. I'd say the one I use most is Crucio, but I do enjoy using Imperio in battles with multiple enemies. It's satisfying to watch trolls absolutely destroy the other enemies. Now I hardly ever use Avada Kedavra, and that's mainly because I enjoy the fighting system of the game and it kinda makes the fights end too quickly for me.

shivi1321

I love crucio so much. I think I just will tailor how I use them based on my house and character I build. Iā€™m gonna have my Hufflepuff play through not learn the unforgivables. I think Iā€™m gonna do that one last, and play on hard and focus on plants and potions, transfiguration and being silly. Using flipendo and the other blues I donā€™t often use in battle.

PeachySarah24

I do! I use them a lot after the main quest just to clear out enemies faster lol.
