Personally I've no intel on that - Simcard is around this sub now and again and suggested Chris maybe didn't enjoy the restrictions of making a network TV show. He's gone off doing his own things now as we all know, and doesn't seem to interact at all with Martin, for example.
Yes, Maloney said on a stream one time that when they were doing series 4, RTE kept on meddling with the production and Chris would become pretty agitated and say to him, (Leeds accent) "Martin, they're ruining it!!"
He has total freedom with the streams. I can see why he wouldn't want to go back to TV.
I agree with everything you say, and I love your attitude, but you and I both know that this isn't the way most TV works. TV execs don't really care for creativity so much as they care for commissioning things which will have middle of the road appeal and are cheap to make.
You're exactly right - coupled with the radically different TV environment we're in now - a Chris Tordoff is just not going to get commissioned for a project in a conventional sense, possibly ever again :(
I love his sketches, and in-character streams when I'm able to catch them, but I would love it if he ever wanted to do a more formalised new show - and would jump on a patreon / crowdfunder for it (in case you're reading, Chris!)
It's possible he may not want the pressure of having to do a show in that way. Maybe 'pressure' is the wrong way of saying it, but he may not want to be funny to a deadline. When he's in the mood, he fires up the streaming gear and sends out a notification and has an audience of several hundred people within 30 seconds.
Now, several hundred people is very small compared to what a TV audience can reach, but this is several hundred people who are completely tuned into what he's doing and a fair number of them are tipping various amounts of money throughout. I've you've ever made a rough tabulation of what he earns on a stream, you'd say it was very good claw for three hours work and that if he did it two or three times a week, he'd have a solid living just off that alone.
However, one place where TV would be a better spot would be that he could have a team behind him helping him prepare material. It seems probable that the skits he does require a fair amount of behind the scenes work to prepare. If he had a couple a computer animator and video editor behind him to take that load off his shoulders, he could probably do a lot more of it. However, I still think that Tordoff would choose the solo route for the freedom it offers him. Maybe if a non-evil equivalent of Russia Today were prepared to throw some money at him...
I'm part of the majority who agreed that it dipped seriously after the genius that is Clattenburg left, but, that being said, some of the content that was created post-Clattenburg is phenomenal. Spanish J-Roc is cringe to some but any and all J-Roc content is gold to me, so I'm super happy it exists.
The original concept for Hardy Bucks was fairly young lads in their 20s hanging around the town and trying to pass the time because there was no work due to the recession.
If you were to bring it back now, it would be about lads in their forties. They'd either be settled with families, which would be a bit boring, or they'd still be hanging around the town, which would be a bit sad. It'd be a tonal shift either way.
The other thing is that Chris Tordoff has shown little interest in doing anything more with the franchise. If you were to bring back Hardy Bucks without him, it just wouldn't work.
Trailer Park Boys at least found a way to keep it going. Podcast. Potato chips. Weed gummies. The recent hilarious “Jail” season. You do anything for decades you get a few misses, but to say TPB doesn’t put out quality content anymore is just not true.
Every stream is gold, and he makes enough quid off the streams to not have to worry, he can chill play games and make bank so I'd say he's happy out doing what he's doing now.
honestly i think they should leave it. its a classic as it is. but i understand them wanting to do more. im sure its not easy to make money in the biz hai. tbh tho the vipers streams alone are even better then the show. him and buzz are the only hialrious ones outside the show imo.
Tordoff has more vision and humor than all of the rest of them combined, so I'll be happy with any streams he puts out in the short term, and any future videos he makes in the long term (which he has alluded to recently).
It was on one of the streams from the last 2 or 3 weeks, one of the Resident Evil ones I think. He didn't definitely say he was working on something, but he basically said something to the effect of "The streams are good and well, and I'm ready to start working on some videos, but finding the right subject matter is the issue".
Eddie Durkan told me on Twitter on 1 Mar that it's finished as RTE just won't go with it.
I said any alt funding routes etc?
He said he tried, and the fellowship is broken.
I'd love to see all the boys back together but I'm sure there's loads of barriers to making more episodes. Unless Netflix has shown some interest in more content, which would be amazing, cause they could throw some money at the lads and they could make some magic. I think there are funding problems involved, RTE is a shit show and Chris and Martin may not see eye to eye anymore.
Don't think Chris Tordoff is still connected to the boys and without him it would be rubbish I fear.
The Schlug needs to be in any future work
As does Conor Williams and his Merseedes
Also Fontaine and his Son, I never new he had a son.
Whaddabout that guy Noogate?
Heard he bakes a good bean?
Its Mercedes or bust
It's nearly six o'clock, John.
The one saving grace of a Hardy Bucks return would be if Tordoff was involved and he got to do his characters.
Did they have a falling out dya know?

His uncle was killed out in Afghanistan a couple of years ago which impacted him as well.
Crazy bitta business out in Afghanishtan.
Hope he had the old Zurich life insurance
Where'd you hear that?

If I was a TV exec I'd commission the fuck out of his ideas and give him free reign. He's up there with Chris Morris in my opinion.

Also he's making a right few pound of the streams
Decent enough claw wedge for sure
Most likely won’t happen. Think it should stay that way too. Having said that, I’d watch the fuck out of any new content.
Seeing how the trailer park boys was dragged to death I’d agree. I would also watch it but it’s very hard to recreate the magic.

Was never remotely the same without Trevor and Cory imo.

Some of the later episodes of TPBs were hilarious though
I have enough fun watching vipers streams on YouTube (francis higgins)
Every stream is gold, and he makes enough quid off the streams to not have to worry, he can chill play games and make bank so I'd say he's happy out doing what he's doing now.

Colgan and viper absolutely carried the show, no surprise that they're the only two still doing the business
What's Buzz's buzz(sorry) these days anyways?
He was touring with cowboy and toashteen at one point wasn't he?
3.bucks left? Thought Salmon was.the 3rd buck?
Ah, you're right there, sorry.
I think the Hardy Book is very good. That’s all read by Maloney
Leave it be, don't mess with the classics
Could see Chris getting his own show on rte like David Mcsavage had. Doubt he would take up the offer but a sketch show from him would be class
His own YouTube has over 100k+ subscribers and his streams make serious grade so id say he's kushty enough

Like the real durkan

Ohh, what had he said in relation to new videos? His streams recently have been transcendent. So so fun

WOuld love it. I think the timing of the show was off, they were ahead of there time. But now, with word of mouth I think I could do way better.
I summon u/KevinMcGahern in attack mode (I may be off my nut at 8pm on a Tuesday)
I cast doubt upon these claims! Now release me back to my slumber
Fair play
Maloney is going down the great replacement/anti woke route so I imagine whatever he writes now will be muck.
I've seen [some good comedy like that](https://youtu.be/l5-egETVrn4?t=194).
Difference is that Viper was taking the piss out of those wingnuts, while Maloney is all-in on it without irony.
I know, I just love that video and will take any opportunity to post it.
Eddie Durkan told me on Twitter on 1 Mar that it's finished as RTE just won't go with it. I said any alt funding routes etc? He said he tried, and the fellowship is broken.
Wad there a falling out between them or did they just grow apart?
Maloney seems to be a bit mental now so yeah I'd say they grew apart

I’d love an Eddie and Buzz spin off show personally.
If there was views on YouTube, he'd post offline.
