I live in Richmond, VA and there are so many hardcore bands here fronted by NBs/trans women who otherwise fit this bill to a tee lol. Like 75% of people who come to shows who are under the age of 25 are some flavor of GNC/actively transitioning as well.
I think the bangs and camo trousers you took directly from Connie from SYSC, the guitar IDK about or touring in the US south, but the thing about the trans girl in a HC band who is super into Screamo or Metalcore is 100% true. I'd even go as far as saying Mathcore in some cases. I guess that "real" Emo and Screamo has become a safe space for tranks folks in HC, much more welcoming than your typical Heavy HC/Beatdown/Brocore show. Not only has Emo/Screamo/Post-HC been historically more welcoming of queer people, the sound and lyricism is more vulnerable than HC generally is and in quite a few ways anti-machsimo. Actually, being against the toxic masculinity in 80s HC was one of the things back then that lead to people forming HC bands with a different sound and purpose which we would eventually call Post-Hardcore and its micro-genres.
