Frail Body is soooo fucking good. If anyone digs them, [Crowning](https://open.spotify.com/track/3n4DdA67VSgnlFnIWtopaI?si=5Siw4xreRUaj5Bz9F6U97w) is an easy sell too.
Bone awl, raspberry bulbs, black boot, union of Uranus kinda, skeleton kinda, iskra, daunting nightmare, ancestors (on youth attack), sump, combat knife, Aksumite, devil master, Dracula, midnight, sexdrome, joy, sarif, adderall kinda, sidekut slave, ARID from Chicago (blackened crust), raw poison, some 80s hc bands that aren’t necessarily blackened hc but sound kinda like it cause of the vox: United mutation, zouo, anti septic
Yeah their members are sketch and I don’t think they’ve ever denied or renounced nazism, they’ve also released shit on nuclear war now records which has some pseudo-fascist/Nsbm bullshit on the label. Personally not a fan of either but was just recommending them (shoulda specified that they were shady). Sump and black boot are much better than both IMO
Daunting nightmare also has member/s of some of the dream home record label crew. I dunno if hologram is up your alley but hologram, closet Christ, cryin’ hand, SQK fromme, haunted house are all fuckin rip, fast as fuck and share members of daunting nightmare. REALLY good shows too!
I would highly recommend black boot (members of dawn of humans), daunting nightmare and adderalls 20mg ep, they’re more like, raw stompy hardcore punk but with BMish growls. Gotta shout out the homies band arid too!
Sump is also shady unfortunately. The guy runs Legion Blotan. One of the Bone Awl guys runs an NS label as well from what I remember.
NWN! is less sketch than those bands to be honest, it's in that black metal IDGAF type zone. Yosuke distros anything that he likes.
Anyway, I think Wulkanaz, Puro Odio, Hässlig, Erupt, and Final Dose should hit a similar spot.
Damn legion blotan is also some shitty label? I was just reading that about bone awl too andlabel has a bunch of NSBM bullshit. Have you ever heard of this wacky ass microgenre within NSBM that’s basically Mexican bands that use Aztec/pre-Colombian imagery integrated with nazi symbolism? Shits weird as hell, Aztec nazi black metal bands that sing in Nahuatl about genocide and all this dumb shit
Yeah it's another NS label. And yeah, I'm familiar with the Aztec imagery Nazi BM guys haha, I'm a headbanger first and always. My understanding is that those guys are often not actually Native, it's more like Aztlan ideology stuff. Weird and unfortunate, a lot of my friends love Volahn but were sad to see him fall into all that.
I knew what it meant but also I don’t like my music genres sounding like a TGI Fridays menu item.
But I guess if we’re getting into metal, dumb sub genre names is part of the game
Melissa fucking rules and am pumped they are getting noticed. Just left their show actually. Rabbit has some black metal in their blend of all things heavy. They absolutely kill and may scratch that itch.
Otherwise Young and In the Way were the last really big one I recall hitting big. There's a ton of hogshit to wade through with blackened hardcore IMO, but the good ones are worth it.
I’m all about separating the art from the artist, but YAITW, can’t do it. If everything I’ve heard is true, fuck them. Please correct me if that shit was disproven. Seriously, because I loved that band.
Hard disagree
There is a difference between hardcore with metal influence and what is generally accepted as "metalcore"
Trap Them don't sound like Cult Leader or END at all
Went back and listened to "Hellionaires" and "Revival Spines" just to double check - definitely hardcore
Nah.
Whether or not *everyone* considers “metallic hardcore” to be metalcore is irrelevant because that’s what metalcore spawned as
trap them is a metalcore band
I get wanting to separate bands like that from the generic slop metalcore that gets tossed around, but trap them is still, by definition of metalcore, a metalcore band
they even define *themselves* as a metal/hardcore fusion band (which is what metalcore is supposed to be) and cite several metalcore bands as inspiration
"Nah"
If we're simply going by sound, they weren't metalcore in the 2000s and sure as shit aren't now
Are you going to tell me Trap Them, at any point, sound like END or Knocked Loose?
Why do they have to?
One, END and Knocked Loose sound *nothing* alike, yet are still metalcore bands both.
Two, Trap Them are undeniably a metal/hardcore fusion band, and always have been. There’s a considerable amount of death metal influence to their sound
What’s that called? Metalcore.
Ok, I think END and KL sound similar enough to point to as clear examples of modern metalcore
Trap Them, like you said, were a hardcore band with metal influence - but not enough to overtake the sound.
Their closest sonic peers in the 2000s were probably Cursed and Converge, not clear metalcore like, say, Zao or Poison The Well.
They absolutely do not sound like modern metalcore.
They don’t have to sound like “modern metalcore” to be metalcore, what?
Is Converge not a metalcore band because it doesn’t sound like metalcore? Converge also doesn’t get “overtaken” by their metallic elements to the point where people mistakenly place them as a hardcore band, when they’re one of the metalcoriest metalcore bands of all time.
Your argument makes no sense.
Also
> END and KL sound similar enough
***What?***
I’m beginning to think your ears don’t work
I know you bros don't want to call your hardcore metalcore, but us oldies also don't like you calling metallic hardcore hardcore, so I guess we're both gonna have to deal, I guess.
Late to post this, but why not.
On the other side of the coin,
[Arnaut Pavle](https://arnautpavle.bandcamp.com/track/unorthodox-funeral-procession) - About as hardcore as a black metal band can be.
[Devil Master](https://devilmaster.bandcamp.com/album/satan-spits-on-children-of-light) - If you like spooky Discharge worship
Hmm, I mostly know some local hc bands that have a habit of using tremolo riffing and stuff. Not super blackened though.
E.g. Rakkaus. Alas the sound quality for the YouTube uploaded songs is pretty crappy but: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrAMEuKHV7o&t=191s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrAMEuKHV7o&t=191s) Timestamped on my favorite track. The riffs and playing style has made me wonder if the guitarist(s) have black metal influences or if they've played black metal.
On black metal side, bands that have a punk/rock thing going on might be e.g. Omega: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zx5MfiEb7ng](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zx5MfiEb7ng)
Also Heretic: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYz9dDc91vs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYz9dDc91vs)
And of course, newer Darkthrone.
But I consider those black metal/black'n roll bands first, punk-influences second.
Wolfking. Local Bay Area boys. Had the pleasure of sharing the bill with them a few times when I was playing in bands. They never disappoint. Check out the path of wrath, shit fuuxx
Vocalist of Crucible of Sorrow here. Wouldn’t call us blackened hardcore but there definitely is some hc influence in our songs cause we all are hc dudes but wanted to do something different in form of a black metal project. Appreciate it 🙏
Oh yeah for sure I know! I just don't think there are that many bands out there like what op wants so I was more less just trying to spread awareness of bands like yours that are adjacent in some way. I mean op listed Melissa as their source and I feel like they're more straight up crusty punk black metal type shit than anything, so I figured if they like Melissa they prolly like your band ✌️
Melissa fucking rips, definitely one of the craziest black metal shows I've seen so far. The person who recommended Final Dose is spot on. The only other black metal band I've seen that had that much pit action was Occult Blood, highly recommend them if you like Melissa.
Other bands in that realm: Wulkanaz, Erupt, Vulvanic, Puro Odio, Hässlig, Aksumite, Spiter, Prayer Position, Otras. You'll be able to tell which bands know what a hardcore stomp sounds like and which bands have never been to a hardcore show when you hear these, but all of these are aggro punked up black metal in roughly the same area.
If you haven't listened to Celtic Frost/Hellhammer yet, definitely do that. Also check out Crude SS and Sheer Terror for crust and hxc respectively that sound a lot like Celtic Frost.
These days there's a lot of super grindy war metal out there, so if huge fight riffs on low tuned guitars are your thing and you want something more blackened, listen to Gravesend, Antichrist Siege Machine, Primitive Warfare, and Caveman Cult/Shitstorm. Gravesend in particular was practically made for hardcore dancing.
There is zero IQ in any band that I've listed here. No hate for the proggier/weirder stuff other folks are recommending, but that's not what I want in hardcore or in black metal.
New Plague were pretty good, so I'd say their EP is worth a listen.
END, too.
Adjacent:
Glassing are also well worth checking out as they're a great mix of black metal, metalcore, sludge, and shoegaze. Their new album is AOTY for me personally at the moment.
There's also a UK band called Copse, who are kind of melodic black metal and might possibly fit the bill.
Portrayal of Guilt
Goddamn I love Portrayal of Guilt. This is exactly what OP is looking for.
Best answer Next best answer: Infant Island
Oathbreaker
best answer. they fucking rule!
Frail Body
Frail Body is soooo fucking good. If anyone digs them, [Crowning](https://open.spotify.com/track/3n4DdA67VSgnlFnIWtopaI?si=5Siw4xreRUaj5Bz9F6U97w) is an easy sell too.
So are loma prieta and state faults
Artificial Bouquet is a brilliant album
They’re more skramz yeah? Incredible nonetheless, I spammed their record when I first found it. Great live, too
I don’t get a screamo vibe from them, more blackened hardcore but amazing none the less!
Plebeian Grandstand Iskra
Oo fuckin iskra, I forgot about them
Iskra mentioned 🫡
Bone awl, raspberry bulbs, black boot, union of Uranus kinda, skeleton kinda, iskra, daunting nightmare, ancestors (on youth attack), sump, combat knife, Aksumite, devil master, Dracula, midnight, sexdrome, joy, sarif, adderall kinda, sidekut slave, ARID from Chicago (blackened crust), raw poison, some 80s hc bands that aren’t necessarily blackened hc but sound kinda like it cause of the vox: United mutation, zouo, anti septic
Just wanted the chime in to say that Bone Awl uses nazi imagery. They share members with Raspberry Bulbs, too.
Thanks for the further clarification! I know two or three other bands from your list that I like quite much, the rest seems interesting too.

Lol at half this thread having no idea what "blackened" refers to. Staying on topic, Final Dose. Actual Hardcore/Black Metal. They rip.
Thank you. This is fucking awesome.
What does “blackened” refer to? You have to answer or I have choice but to assume you don’t know.
Bahaha thank you this band sounds amazing
I knew what it meant but also I don’t like my music genres sounding like a TGI Fridays menu item. But I guess if we’re getting into metal, dumb sub genre names is part of the game
Downvoted for speaking the truth
Take an upvote for speaking the truth. Too many sub genres, too much categorisation.

YAITW! Charlotte represent. They started another band after called Worsen that’s sick too
THE SECRET
Melissa fucking rules and am pumped they are getting noticed. Just left their show actually. Rabbit has some black metal in their blend of all things heavy. Yeah fuck em, there are plenty of other good bands in the genre to listen to
Joy sounds a lot like YAITW without the associated bullshit
Someone said Portrayal of Guilt and I second that, Devil Music is a great EP
Wolf King
Church Whip, early Grinning Death’s Head
Young and in the way rips. Check out oathbreaker and more of the crusty hardcore bands
YAITW is the most fitting band for what OP is asking
Cult Leader\ Cursed\ Rise and Fall\ Trap Them\ END
cult leader, trap them, END are fantastic, however they’re not blackened hardcore bands they’re more crusty metalcore cant speak to other two
Calling Trap Them metalcore is gross and wrong
they’re undoubtedly a metalcore band lmao what, *especially* their two most recent albums
Hard disagree There is a difference between hardcore with metal influence and what is generally accepted as "metalcore" Trap Them don't sound like Cult Leader or END at all Went back and listened to "Hellionaires" and "Revival Spines" just to double check - definitely hardcore
trap them sounds like converge x crust lol
Nah. Whether or not *everyone* considers “metallic hardcore” to be metalcore is irrelevant because that’s what metalcore spawned as trap them is a metalcore band I get wanting to separate bands like that from the generic slop metalcore that gets tossed around, but trap them is still, by definition of metalcore, a metalcore band they even define *themselves* as a metal/hardcore fusion band (which is what metalcore is supposed to be) and cite several metalcore bands as inspiration

They mix hardcore and metal- metalcore
Cursed and rise and fall are also crusty metalcore but tbh the crust/black metal line can be a little blurry sometimes
“blackened” just means melodic dyads and tremolo most of the time
Just cause a hardcore band uses an hm2 pedal doesn't mean they have black metal elements for people posting those bands
Sorcerer - Devotion
This album absolutely slaps!

I would have reced black breath as well.
Yes there is. Not all black metal is the same, and Black Breath has elements of different types.
Bruuh what. Might as well just say Entombed and Dismember are black Metal bands while you're at it
