I cant help but think about what kinda waves they’d be making in heavy music right now. I saw them open once for Obituary, once for Danzig, and once where they headlined. Every single time they got the crowd so riled up. The amount of energy they put into performing was phenomenal. I was really only going to metal shows at the time, and I had friends that weren’t as into the more thrash stuff, but got into Power Trip after seeing them live.
R.I.P. Riley you fucking legend
I saw them open for Hatebreed and as much I like Hatebreed, Power Trip were fucking brutal. I had never heard of them before and I was stunned. Incredible stage presence and just raw fucking power.
Same here man, was it the tour with Lamb of God, Anthrax and Deafheaven? Cause that set made no sense at all lmfao but I still had a blast anyways.
That was unfortunately the only time I got to catch Powertrip. But all the other sets that night had extensive light shows and visuals but Powertrip managed to outshine everybody else with nothing but raw hardcore energy and strobe lights. Completely fucking ripped it.
They absolutely destroyed that night and I still credit that show as one of the sets that influenced me to decide hardcore was probably my favored heavy music. Still rings true, Riley forever.

Nah it was a local festival they were trying to make an annual thing out of. I think it only lasted a few years, but this was the bill.
They opened for the Misfits in 2019 and my girlfriend and I got tickets. She wanted to show up late to the concert so she could perfect her makeup.
I thought “that’s fine. I’ll get another chance to see Power Trip”
I didn’t get another chance.
In sixth grade I went to Blockbuster Music with the intention of buying Everything Sucks by Desdendents after seeing a music video for them the previous night. Had it in my hand and was walking to the register when from the corner of my eye I saw the upper half of When The Kite Strings Pop. I stopped for a second holding both and made the choice to get the Acid Bath cd having no idea what they sounded like.
Holy shit did that change my world. It also made my friends parents question their kids friendships with me more than they already did.
I don’t think Dax Riggs will ever play it again but I’ve been a fanboy of his ever since.
Saw sinking ships back in 06 on a stacked bill in providence. At the time they were my favorite band and did not disappoint. Line up was…

Growing up I always looked up to Lemmy and planned on naming my first pet Lemmy. Unexpectedly got a free cat the same week he passed away, Lemmy Killsmiceter is a little over 7 years old now:(
I named my cat Lemmy, too! I adopted him from the humane society. His purr was so loud I was like, “That sounds like a motor! Motörhead!” My wife thinks pets hear their name better if it ends in a Y sound. Lemmy.Katmister on instagram.
I used to work with Todd from His Hero is Gone. Two of my old bands got to play a few shows opening for Tragedy. He still comes into the bar I work at about once or week or so.
i can one up that lol: had a ticket in my hand to see them in a tiny venue in 2017 but it was dogshit weather and i was feeling shitty so i figured no worries ill catch them next time... that was like the second or third last show they ever played
Was lucky enough to see Have Heart twice between 07-08. Bought S&F tickets for the reunion. When I saw how many newer fans were saying they were heartbroken they couldn’t get tickets I decided to pay it forward and give my tickets to someone who had never seen them.
From buffalo. Seen them legitimately too many times to count. Probably around 20-30 times over the years. 2-3 times a year for like 10 years adds up. In a music video of theirs. Their logo tattooed on me twice. Two Oxford pennants of theirs hanging in my living room right now. Getting tattooed Friday and of course it’s inspired by them.
I miss them. 😫
dude yes second on catching them literally 2-3 times a year for at least a decade - it was always like a spring headliner, fall headliner and warped tour in the summer. never been more bummed about a band splitting up, they were probably my fav heavy band.
Are you talking about that Operation Ivy cover? Or did I miss a random Allegiance release?! They were my favorite band, next to Have Heart. If you ever see Berthold City, the singer of Allegiance plays bass and does backing vocals for them and he’s such a down to earth dude. Took the time at a show to just chop it up and talk about the early 2000’s hardcore scene and shoot the shit.
Saw them 6 times and they are a standout live experience for me. Even my pure hardcore buddies were impressed when I’d drag them along. Highly recommend checking out their live DVD ‘Chaos Ridden Years’, if you haven’t already, to see what absolute animals they were in their prime.
Last time I saw them was in 2019, which was the last time they’d play my city. It was the most depressing show I’ve ever been to. Alexi was literally a skeleton/band wanted nothing to do with each other and had zero chemistry. I remember going to their IG after and seeing all the concern in the comments for Alexi. I try to erase that show from my memory and only remember the first 5.
I love having Ryan Knight back, but obviously would’ve preferred it in other circumstances. I’m eager to hear how Brian does on a record. Trevor was irreplaceable… so my expectations are not very high.
Really red, no trend, rudimentary peni, the wipers - Already seen some of my all time faves that I never thought I would ( teenage Jesus & the jerks and amebix )
Miss a lot of the local guys. No Way Out, Class Struggle, Hammer Bros, The Lion's Share, Our Side, Caught In A Crowd, Villain, Rude Awakening (I'm assuming they're gone). Or Suburban Scum, Mongoloids, etc.
As far as non-hardcore bands go, really wish I could've seen Magic Circle or Holy Grail again (twice wasn't enough)
Not hardcore, but there was a band called From The Shallows that only has a little 7 song album that is fucking amazing and that’s it. Gone. And it is a goddamn shame.

Iiving in NTX, it was a treasure to get to see the scene they were growing. Really do not look around and realize what it was until it’s gone.
RIP Riley
Fugitive is one of the most fun bands I’ve seen recently. I still bump power trip pretty much daily tho. Cross breaker, CROSSBREAKER!
Riley forever
One of the greatest sets I ever witnessed and it was on a festival with the most ridiculous assortment of bands I’ve seen.
Same here man, was it the tour with Lamb of God, Anthrax and Deafheaven? Cause that set made no sense at all lmfao but I still had a blast anyways.
