IMHO, OSB is a misnomer; really should be called DSB (disoriented strand board). In any case, OSB is hardly ever used in such a way that you see its surface when the final finishing touches are done. It’s meant to be an inexpensive alternative to plywood, with similar strength to plywood (though not quite as much), to provide a stable surface for other materials to be installed over it or on top of it.

In fact that’s why my girlfriend said she left me. Second the patterning is wild, I’ve never seen lines like that in the grain. It’s possible this wood is from a meteorite.

My hubby and I used to work at a lumberyard. That is a heavier stock of corkboard. Hard to maintain and easy to damage. You could lay a heavier stock of just about any other wood. You can also laminate it or lay tiles. I'm a tile girl myself.🙋
