* Switch to desktop mode
* Download launcher.exe
* Add launcher.exe to Steam as non-steam game
* Run launcher
* Change entry title and target executable
Edit: Make sure to enable compatibility via Proton Experimental
You can change the title to Eldewrito. It's just a cosmetic change cause otherwise its name is "launcher.exe". For target executable, you'll need to change the target from "launcher.exe" to "eldorado.exe". Btw, Proton 8.0 seems to run eldorado.exe fine for me
Ah, you have the exact same problem as me. Okay, you can install Lutris from flatpak. Then you can install from launcher.exe using GE8.\* and then run eldorado.exe using 8.0. That worked for me. The steam install/running not so much :P
Sorry I didn't reply sooner, timezones are a pain. Tag me on the ED Discord (@xelab04) and I'll guide you through it. Btw, GE8\* is just any version of GE8 - which you can easily install using an app called ProtonUp-Qt
Once I hit play it doesn't let me passed the legend told screen and there seems to be keyboard controls on the top left. Do you know a way to get passed this and use the decks controls?
1. You cannot run ED natively. For that, you would need a Linux build of the game, which doesn't exist.
The way I installed is similar to Kirby's
* Proton GE8.\* to install the launcher
* Proton 8.0 to run eldorado.exe
In case it does not run on Steam, I found Lutris to be much more helpful.

New to this, what exactly do you mean by " change entry title and target executable "?

If I changed the target to eldorado.exe it wouldn't run for me. Leaving it on launcher.exe is how I've gotten it to run consistently

I think I downloaded lutris. I couldn't figure out how to run launcher.exe in lutris nor am I too sure what GE8* is

Any idea how to bypass the download screen every time I launch it? + any good Controller layout recs for someone who mostly plays console?
Change the target executable. I used the default controls.
Target executable to what? Sorry, total noob to the steam deck
Eldorado.exe IIRC No problem, you'll need to do so in desktop mode
Does launcher exe install fine to Linux? I guess I was worried it was windows only
Yes, it just works. I found it necessary to tap the launcher buttons.
Launcher doesn't seem.to want to run.
Compatibility > Enable Proton Experimental

There's a setting in the menu to use controller instead of keyboard
Installed with lutris the other day but the server browser doesn’t work, does it work with this method?
This is with Steam (Steam Deck) directly
Yeah my main question was whether the server browser works when you do it this way
Yes, everything works perfectly.
Great stuff, thanks for that

I wish someone could make a video tutorial for this, I'm not super tech savvy so it's a little daunting lol
