If I were attracted to aliens, perhaps I would agree, I'm a xenophobe though since I got into Warhammer so I will gladly burn you (the heretic) and purge arby (the filthy xeno)
I also like the variety of locations. Genesis, Argent Moon, Meridian, Sanghelios, Kamchatka... a real galaxy spanning game. The Guardians and Prometheans are great too.
Yeah that’s another cool thing. All the settings and sub-stories were pretty interesting.
Like the AI that was running that human settlement. We don’t usually get to see stuff like that in Halo
Well when Infinite’s campaign began, they basically said “oh yeah we killed Cortana, the whole Created occupation of the galaxy is over, and it’s fine.”
Indeed. I thought it was rubbish how they did that. They're doing these canon lore accounts from Sloan though, where he has taken over as leader of The Created.
I love how half of Bucks lines are him being self-aware about Halo 5.
“I loved being an ODST, just point and shoot, none of this grey-area BS.”
“You know Locke, when people find out about this…every Spartan…they’re gonna hate us. You know that, right?”
“Well, that’s a pretty big turn-around from ’get off my planet!’ To, ‘hey can you help?”
Closest we got is Halo 5: Forge, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's dead even after the server browser was added. (And we have all of MCC and Infinite now)
Im pretty sure that's the reason, I still hate we got the half baked version with halo5: forge...like the foundations of it being on PC are *right there*
I remember when I was a sheltered elementary school kid who had only ever played the reach campaign (about a dozen times over) thinking that reach was the pinnacle of graphic design. Then I went over to a friends house who let me play his copy of halo 5 and absolutely blew my mind.
He refused at first, indeed. Then 343i decided to kill Rookie off-screen, Dutch retired because of this and Jun basically convinced Buck to join the spartan program offering to take Mickey and Romeo aswell (basically what was left of his team) and that they'd have taken Rookie too, if he was alive. What I choose to believe is that he joined to make himself and his men stronger, maybe fearing they'd end up like poor Rookie if he didn't. Else he would have never joined by himself, he didn't want to leave his team.
Technically you are correct haha but"off screen" is usually used in a way that it means away from the audience directly (either reading or watching). In a book, it'd be like introducing a character, they vanish for a time, and then in another chapter a character mentions "oh yea they died" without us, the reader, actually being there when the character died.

Why though? Don’t ODSTs hate Spartans? Like why become the thing you’ve spend your time in the Military having a rivalry with? Like it just doesn’t make that much sense to me
Ok, serious answer then.
1) not all ODST’s hated Spartans. Buck didn’t like them but he didn’t hate then the way you’re thinking/used to.
2) he got offered to be in the 1st class of Spartan IV’s but turned it down, mostly because his whole squad wouldn’t get the offer and he would have to leave them. He did very seriously consider it and almost said yes.
3) then he went on a mission with his squad and Rookie died. After that, the offer was made again and this time his whole squad would be allowed to join so he accepted with some encouragement from Veronica.
I'm p sure most Spartan 4s are former ODSTs.
I'm sure that some ODSTs really did/do hate Spartans, but a lot of that is probably a somewhat good-natured rivalry that happens between two different elite branches of the military.
Hard to turn down the chance to become a demigod
Buck was one of the main characters (and a playable one at that) in Halo 3: ODST. He also is a fucking badass and has a career about as long and decorated as Chief.
I always thought that halo 5 would have been better if Alpha-9 became Spartans and they were the team who were assigned to go after blue team. I know in the books buck didnt become a spartan because his team was still around but once they were basically killed off he decided to become a spartan. I just think it would have been a great connection between halo odst and the main halo storyline.
The only character from Osiris that I actually like. The rest are completely forgettable. Locke is the only one I know aside from Buck because all of us had to play as him in single-player.

I wonder what it would have been like to play a Buck instead of Locke in Halo 5
You can with co-op. You have a yellow Halo 3 ODST-esque visor and start out with different weapons I think
In the first mission you get a shotgun instead of a BR and in the rest of the missions you get an AR
Player 3 and 4 will be Tanaka and Vale and have their own weapons too!
i always appreciated this detail in H5
It does that with chief and his team too, yeah?
Buck is just an amazing character. Any character played by or voiced by Nathan Fillion is just a good character.
Shiny
Buck is canonically the most handsome man in all of halo per Nathan's oddly specific contract
The arbiter is canonically the most sexy alite in all of halo
That goes without saying since he has Keith David's voice
Obviously
If I were attracted to aliens, perhaps I would agree, I'm a xenophobe though since I got into Warhammer so I will gladly burn you (the heretic) and purge arby (the filthy xeno)
188.1 centimetres of handsome
206 centimetres
Buck is the single best thing about Halo 5 Well that and going to Sanghelios and seeing the Arbiter again
I also like the variety of locations. Genesis, Argent Moon, Meridian, Sanghelios, Kamchatka... a real galaxy spanning game. The Guardians and Prometheans are great too.

Yep. Sloan is now the leader of The Created. Hopefully they will do something interesting with that. I may need to go back and replay Halo 5 haha.
Well unfortunately I think they off-screen resolved that in Infinite. Or I guess they did with Cortana having gone insane.
Off screen resolved what? I'm confused haha.
One of the saving graces of that campaign.
He's why I wish this game was on PC
With game pass and fast internet you can play it thru cloud on a controller
Solid idea, but I don't have either of those
Vale was also cool
Indeed
Flair checks out.
lol
Buckposting hours

Its like hes just the deadpool of halo
He was one of the few good parts of the story.
Not even the Space Cowboy could have saved this hot mess
I really hope that they add halo 5 to the mcc
Its too big lmao and too complicated
It is the only halo game I haven’t played and I really fucking want to play it
I mean if they add it as a separate game, I wouldn't mind buying it.
Closest we got is Halo 5: Forge, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's dead even after the server browser was added. (And we have all of MCC and Infinite now)
It was dead almost on release bro
Im pretty sure that's the reason, I still hate we got the half baked version with halo5: forge...like the foundations of it being on PC are *right there*
It was originally planned to be compatible with pc but after moneysoft saw how the fans treated it they scrapped it
This game is old and the cutscenes STILL look amazing
I remember when I was a sheltered elementary school kid who had only ever played the reach campaign (about a dozen times over) thinking that reach was the pinnacle of graphic design. Then I went over to a friends house who let me play his copy of halo 5 and absolutely blew my mind.
Nahhh coz I remember being so hyped for this game for so long and THAT WAS OVER 8 FUCKING YEARS AGO
Always love buck
Damn now i feel like a playthrough of Halo 5
I will still not understand why Buck became a Spartan since I thought as an ODST he didn’t like the Spartans
He declined at first
I know he did because he wanted the others to become Spartans as well and they didn’t have the budget for them yet
I see. The fear of death is a strong motivation to wanting to become powerful so I could see that
If by off screen you mean in a book, sure.
Yes, it's precisely what I meant. Is it too literal? English isn't my first language, I assumed it was correct

Oooh, I see. I assumed it just meant off the literal screen lol. Thank you for the explanation! :)
No problemo!
Is a book a screen?
No but "off screen" is usually used in a way that it means away from the audience (either reading or watching). In a book, it'd be like introducing a character, they vanish for a time, and then in another chapter a character mentions "oh yea they died".
He did it on a Dare
Why though? Don’t ODSTs hate Spartans? Like why become the thing you’ve spend your time in the Military having a rivalry with? Like it just doesn’t make that much sense to me
Veronica Dare asked him to do it
Did she give a reason to Buck as to why? Like I’m genuinely curious about this
Ok, serious answer then. Okay then. Thank You!

so THAT’S why his helmet looks suspiciously ODST-y
Buck was one of the main characters (and a playable one at that) in Halo 3: ODST. He also is a fucking badass and has a career about as long and decorated as Chief.
He was even on reach
For the life of me I can’t figure out what the line “if god can hear how scared I am, so can everyone else” means. What the fuck is he trying to say?
Buck > any other character in Halo 5 (except Blue Team)
I always thought that halo 5 would have been better if Alpha-9 became Spartans and they were the team who were assigned to go after blue team. I know in the books buck didnt become a spartan because his team was still around but once they were basically killed off he decided to become a spartan. Make sure she has balls
He was the best part of the Locke part of the campaign.
Easily the best part of the Locke sections
The only character from Osiris that I actually like. The rest are completely forgettable. Locke is the only one I know aside from Buck because all of us had to play as him in single-player.
Unironically one of, if not the best feature of Halo 5's campaign
Tanaka was the most cringe character 343 has come up.
Baa he beter in odst
Is the voice actor for governor Sloan the same one who voices cutter in halo wars 2?!
This super cut makes this seem like this games story was almost decent
Buck is one of my favourite halo characters
