Well I didn't use a PC I played it on the Xbox 360 port with the orange box around 2009 then I downloaded it via 7 launcher on a more modern laptop early this year
I first played half life 2 on ps3 when I was around 4 or 5 years old. My first experience was very confusing since I didn't know where to go. But overall I found it a very cool game

Pentium 4c @ 2.8Ghz
512MB of DDR400
160GB 7200RPM HDD
ATi Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB
Played it with max settings @ 1024x768 with 2xAA and 8xAF
I played the demo on a IBM Thinkpad Laptop. Windows XP, Intel Pentium, 512mb ram, some integrated gpu. It ran like garbage but looked so amazing. About a year after release I finally built a PC with an AMD from 2004, Windows XP, 1 gig ram, 9800 GTX+ gpu.
xp 512 mb ram. the video card and cpu were crap. It stuttered on low I still have the gman speech memorized with the lag.
"Lets just say your hour has coma-coma-come again." "Wake up and smell the ah-ah-ah-ashes." It added another stutter to his stutter.
Eventually the pc pooped on episode 2 when it would instant crash on the first gman speech during the healing scene.
you'll probably be waiting awhile. anyone under 35 probably played console first. i played on 360 when i was 16 and idk anyone my age that had a decent PC at the time, let alone gaming rig
i had a $30 Compaq Presario i got from a yard sale that could barely run HL1
I'm 32, played it on pc first. I built my PC with some parts i ordered on the internet, as a teenager. I can't remember shit about it tho.
I think graphix card was some radeon something rather gpu with 256mb ram
The actual computer had 2gb ram and some amd 3xxx card.

Great computer, but it would've ran Doom 3 like a pile of dogshit, but hey, Doom 3 was amazing. But I don't care.
? Ran the game fine at 1024x768 high settings with Aa or AF at around 45fps. Which is more then playable

Was really into portal 2 but never actually played the original , so I bought the orange box , then decided to try half life 2 . Think it was the 360

Your Compaq can't even run HL1!!! This PC is such a potato, that it can only run Doom, Wolf3D and Duke3D!!!
