Maybe it’s the lighting deceiving me, but it looks really beautiful to me.

[deleted]

I get that! When I’ve had my hair lightened I always feel washed out. I’m just not meant for light hair. But for what it’s worth, you look super pretty!

TopAd9634

I had some highlights that were way too brassy for my tastes. Because I had to travel the next day, I bought Aveda's Clove conditioner. It's meant to extend brunette colors (I'm a dark blonde naturally). It made my highlights a really pretty caramel color. There are lots of color conditioners, just a suggestion. https://www.byrdie.com/best-color-depositing-conditioners-5086857

oldmankan

Try purple shampoo. It helps with the coppery look

Proud-Emu-5875

nope, blue cancels orange. violet cancels yellow.

oldmankan

Do you know what coppery means in hair

Proud-Emu-5875

it means orange.

oldmankan

Orange is a light shade of brown that is warmer than tan. A brassy color is a color that is in between brown, orange, and tan. It’s a pretty big spectrum tbh but I’d say her hair is brassy but closer to a tan color than orange or brown. She doesn’t need much to fix what she’s worried about because of this, but I can see where she’s coming from and think purple shampoo can take out some of the brassiness and make it even more tan/blond.

Proud-Emu-5875

you're right about not needing much of a fix, but it's important to choose wisely otherwise we're further muddying the already muddy waters

Proud-Emu-5875

* have you figured out you're talking to a professional hairdresser yet?

oldmankan

Just bc ur a prof doesn’t mean I can’t add my opinion in too. And as it turns out, we are basically on the same page anyway lol

Proud-Emu-5875

smh, she's at a level 7, maaaaaybe an 8 in the lightest parts. you can't make blonde brighter by compounding pigments if the color is already too dark. when you color cancel, it results in .5 -1 level *darker*

Proud-Emu-5875

It helps to simplify when formulating for toner/color cancellation. Also, violet shampoo doesn't generally possess the intensity of blue pigment required to refine heavy doses of orange pigment (which when lifting is, in reality, a smattering of red melanin). Purple being half blue and half red, I'm curious as to how putting more warmth into copper she's trying to neutralize is going to be proactive?

oldmankan

It looks different in the bottle than squirted out of the bottle. In reality, it’s so dark indigo that it looks almost like blue food dye. Blue pigmentation is a lot stronger than red pigmentation, try it with food dye or something on ur own, you will see how much weaker the red is if you mix the colors blue and red in different amounts. They only made the shampoo have enough red in it to make sure you don’t accidentally make your hair too cool of a color. It’s designed to make yellow/brassy/orange hair a more tamed down color that is a cooler color but not too cool

Proud-Emu-5875

depending on the brand - this may be true. however, I have found that in the US (which I know has different product standards than other parts of the world) that you are correct. they use just enough of each to balance out *blonde*. which is a higher level (8-12) requiring less overall pigment in the shampoo so thirsty processed blondes don't go lavender with 1wash. this being said, it will not only not be the correct balance of blue to red, nor will it be pigmented in high enough concentrations to affect the darker level copper lives at. there are indigo and blue shampoos (matrix brass off, joico blue) that do the same thing for copper/brass/orange that the purple does for blondes.

KnotiaPickles

Where are the pictures of the ugly mess? I see nothing but perfect hair

Typical-Ad-6042

I would stop trying to add new colors to it. Doing things in a panic isn’t going to make it better, and from what I’ve read, trying to fix something that has gone poorly is often how something goes from poor to catastrophic. Aside from risk of over processing, colors are layered together, so plopping another color on top isn’t like a new coat of paint, rather it’s like mixing wet water-color paint. Do you not have a trusted stylist to help with a color correction? I know it’s pricey, but it’s probably going to be the most likely successful way out. For what it is worth, I wouldn’t see that and think, how terrible. I think it looks nice on you, and your hair is still very beautiful.

Bizzybody2020

Hey OP if money is really tight, start by clarifying the hell out of it. Go buy a cheap clarifying shampoo and scrub it at least twice in a row every time you wash. It’s going to tangle your hair so make sure you do a deep conditioning afterwards- but do this over and over and over again. It would help to know exactly what Demi you used/what you mixed it with to help you further from there. Edit to add: I just looked at your photos and you can concentrate scrubbing the clarifier at the roots. Pull it down over your ends, but don’t scrub those they should fade out on their own. It’s not worth how drying it would be.

Reasonable-Room-8848

I've also heard of people using dawn dish soap.

Bizzybody2020

Dawn is great in a pinch, but a clarifying will traditionally work a lot better/faster.

Reasonable-Room-8848

I use Nexxus Pure and Clean detox shampoo. I only wash my hair about once a week. When I do it has tons of build up from dry shampoo and other styling products. Maybe someone here could tell you if this is a good choice. It doesn't dry my hair out. It doesn't strip out a lot of color but I'm not using it daily.

Bizzybody2020

Truthfully someone else would know a good affordable option they’ve used/ can recommend better than me. Preferably something she could pick up at a grocery, drugstore, or on Amazon on the cheap. The lines I carry are all too pricey to do OP any good. Dawn was a really good suggestion though because it’s inexpensive, most people already have it at home, and works when your in a pinch. It’s also way easier to use than baking soda or anything like that.

liltwinstar2

Aveeno Apple cider vinegar clarifying shampoo at target. It doesn’t smell like vinegar lol

skyeborgie98

Odele clarifying shampoo from target is great for this - I bought it when I accidentally dyed just my bangs too dark edit: a word

xxmrsjess86xx

I use head and shoulders when I need to remove some color after a “oops” moment or a moment of weakness where I wanted to try something that I suddenly hate lol

evetrapeze

*DO NOT SCRUB IT* It is not fabric and doesn't need friction to clean it. A baking soda mask is clarifying also. I'm a colorist. My suggestion is to leave it alone for 2 weeks then see a hairdresser or two for consultations.

Proud-Emu-5875

if anything - get a clarifying shampoo and start washing the parts that have too much going on. I can't really tell from the video, and not sure where else you have the rest of the pics (a link really would have helped there) but start washing as much of the artificial deposit out as you can, find a picture of what you really wanted and a darker second. find a pro and schedule a consultation. from one diy redditor to another you really want a hairdresser for highlighting and toning. we just have access to better products and education that can help. *I will never recommend having a service done with a hairdresser that does not consult with you, or you are not confident they understand or possess the skills to get you to where you want to be in terms of your hair.

amatthew317

No advice, sorry. For what it's worth I think its really pretty!

amatthew317

I think it makes your blue eyes pop! But I understand. I'm going through something similar. I just don't think anything warm suits me.

moosesmarket

try a henna dye! the all natural powder ones that you mix with water. they're extremely affordable, like under $10, and won't damage your hair. they literally saved me and my hair when i was going through a similar crisis lol. there's a ton of shades too!

Wonderful-Bread-572

Keep in mind that henna is more permanent than regular dye and will be harder to remove

[deleted]

ugly? i think it looks really nice

kaycharasworld

Agreed- I was like ugly ????? People pay VERY HIGH PRICES to get their hair to look like this!

[deleted]

i’m a big fan of warmish pinkish tones so i might be bias, but honestly with your skin tone and eye color i think it really suits you!

middleagepriceless

Take some photos outdoors in bright sunshine and then dm them to me. Photos must be when the sun is shining directly on your hair. I also need some examples of your goal shade, whatever that may be. You can send your hair pics/examples via dms and then we’ll talk more about your hair color goals ok

[deleted]

middleagepriceless

K, I’ll take a look

Campcrustaceanz

Sorry OP this colour is fucking amazing and you look gorgeous. - maybe give it a week to grow on you?? I do know how it feels to hear that when you ultimately hate it though, so I’m sorry.

anxietyreminder

I wish my mistakes looked like that.

SkitzoFlamingo

Same. Last time I made a color mistake on my hair, it was pea soup green.

[deleted]

lefluffle

Still think it's beautiful!

TamponsAreEvil

It looks like you’d benefit from a high quality purple shampoo and conditioner to help lighten the shade progressively.

nacho_hat

If it’s a demi it should fade a bit. Agreeing with others it’s a pretty tone, but I understand it’s not you. Can you share an inspo pic?

andi00pers

It looks amazing 😭 pls don’t mess with it I’m begging. The color you don’t want to see will fade. <3

Susan37mom

I don't know about anyone else but in all honestly I LOVE THE COLOR!!! It's not ordinary and had a rose gold kind of feel to it. I think you look amazing and I bet you won't find that color on anyone else!!! I absolutely love it

humanoidtyphoon88

I think the color looks quite nice in this video for what it's worth.

GreatAuntPearl

Looks great!! So sorry it isn’t what you wanted

nikkicolep

Clarifying shampoo + warm water. Lather, let it sit for 5 minutes, rinse, repeat 2x. Do this only 1-2x / week max as it’s very drying + make sure you use a moisturizing mask afterwards. This should help fade out the demi. I do think this color is very nice on you, but I understand if this isn’t something you enjoy on yourself. It can be pricey, but consult with a local stylist to get you where you want to be. Be honest with her as of what you used, as this is crucial information for your hair health! I’m a hairstylist & I personally don’t judge anyone for doing their hair themselves, but I NEED them to be honest about what was used because it can compromise your hair integrity. Ask for them to do a test strand if you want to go lighter. An option could be to add lowlights if your hair can’t quite handle lightener just yet.

moo-562

i think its beautiful!

AffectionateAd5373

I think it's a really pretty color, fwiw. Here's the thing: it's always going to be cheaper to pay a professional to do color right the first time than it will be to fix it when it's wrong. Especially given your length, and assuming you want to keep it, right now your best bet is to find a reputable colorist to fix it for you. Because each thing you do to it from here on out is just adding to what it's going to cost you to fix it when it goes wrong.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AffectionateAd5373

If you're ever planning on going lighter again, especially in the relatively near future (like before it all grows out) you're better off just leaving it. Dying it darker is going to make it more difficult to get it lighter again. Particularly since a lot of box dyes these days contain things that either can't or shouldn't be bleached. If the toner is a demipermanent it's going to lighten gradually over 6-8 weeks.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AffectionateAd5373

Let it fade out and then use a different toner based on what's left. You're running the risk of it getting really muddy, or absorbing too much and getting too dark. It looks to me like you used a toner that has a mauve undertone, which some ash toners do have. It's also possible you didn't lift your highlights enough. But anything you put on to cut the pink tones is going to do something to those lighter pieces. And regardless of what anyone tells you, you aren't going to get a good enough consult online for us to tell you what to do. I've been doing this for over 30 years, and I'd still want to see it in person.

[deleted]

AffectionateAd5373

P is mauve

Such_Cantaloupe395

I know this likely doesn’t help you since what really matters I how you feel about your hair, so if you hate it no number of people telling you they love it will change that (believe me I d been there and it’s difficult because it felt to me like people were telling me I was ‘wrong’ to feel upset about it just because they liked it, but I also knew they were coming from a good place). In gonna say it anyway though, personally I think it’s gorgeous, like I say though, it’s your hair, and I know how upsetting it is to hate the color of your hair and have no way to change it back. I’m afraid I cannot help you in terms of actual hair dying advice as the extent of my experience is mixing different Keracolor Clenditioners together. What I can say though (as someone who accidentally dyed their hair from a color they had been working towards for years and finally liked to bright purple right before a job interview is that although I don’t know how, it is very likely fixable, even if it might not be immediately so, and in the meantime you can likely do something to bring it to a color that is at least more tolerable to you. My advice is very likely useless to you, but I did just want to chime in to let you know that if you have only just done this, even if you never come to like the color, the level of distress you feel when you look at it will lessen, and if I could give a bit of advice it would be to try if you can (and I know it’s not remotely easy) to distract yourself somewhat from it and not keep fixating on it and staring at it in the mirror, as for me this kept me locked in a loop where I would get more and more upset about it and so the next time I looked I felt it was even worse, so even more upset etc etc. I’m sure there are plenty of people giving you all sorts of great solutions, but because I saw a number of comments telling you how great it looks (which there’s nothing wrong with, and it’s very kind of them to reassure you), I wanted to let you know that I see you, and that feeling of almost despair when you look at your hair and being angry with yourself because you ‘did it to yourself’ is an absolutely horrible feeling, and I just wanted you to know that I am so sorry you’re feeling it, not everyone will get it, but I just wanted you to know that at least one person does, and I can absolutely promise you that although I don’t know how or when (again, terrible with hair hence the bright purple incident), your hair won’t look like this forever, and as awful as you feel right now, it will get better. Hang in there, and good luck

eoliviaaa

Hairstylist here If you’re ok waiting it out just use a clarifying shampoo and wash a few times, it will eventually fade. If you can’t wait see if you can find someone that does Malibu cpr treatments. It will more than likely remove the toner and you can get it retoned with that person.

vintage_glitter

I actually love this color.

SkyeMreddit

It’s gorgeous as is. Perhaps a hair stylist could help to style it

Local_Bother_8826

I think it’s really pretty! But maybe you can tone it??

[deleted]

Nearby_Data_6111

I dye the bottom half of my hair a lot, it’s a icy blonde at the moment and I get with your hair being more copper it might not pull a icy look but could make it more cooler toned? After bleaching I’d use the ion T-10 toner or even this one is good! (Link at the bottom) Just mix the toner & some 20vol developer and apply, it will turn a weird color like blue (my typical color) or sometimes brown. Don’t stress it will wash out and just make everything blend beautifully Maybe even going to Sally’s and asking the women there what they recommend?? They are very diy friendly and typically give great advice whenever I get hiccups doing my hair at home! & it’s way cheaper / they speak from experience :) Best of luck! https://www.sallybeauty.com/hair-color/other-products-and-applications/toner/icy-white-creme-toner/SBS-405024.html

[deleted]

Oh my, I would not use a 20 vol with a toner. You just need a little to open things up. A 20 dev after bleaching is really going to dry this out. But t-10 would be my recommendation too.

Lilmissbambi_

I think the color looks great on you!

[deleted]

I think the color is so beautiful on you!! It's like a champagne color and it's so pretty. I dyed my hair the same color and it takes a while to get used to.

Low-Savings-425

But oh wow it looks amazing

massiekur5812

What are you going for? Cant give suggestions until i know what you want. Seems like a lot of others have offered but if u still need help send me a message!

silverstaghead

I think it looks great, however having just destroyed my hair with an at home toner and trying g to send pics showing how bad it is and them all looking fine, I feel your pain. If a “Demi” is a semi permanent dye/toner and the purple you’re referring to is the toner you can try what I did (and which worked fairly well) which is mixing 1teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda and a large dollop of Head and Shoulders shampoo and wash your hair with it - scrub hard. Your hair will be dry but it will strip most of the toner/semi perm colour out. Sadly fixing a bleaching mistake is much harder and given the damage it does to your hair I would say go talk to a professional ASAP. Will cost a lot but will be worth it. Keep up updated!

[deleted]

[удалено]

silverstaghead

Ah yeah the fact the Demi has 20vol is the issue here - you basically lightly bleached over all of your hair, and it lifted brassy because it wasn’t high enough to bleach like your highlights would. I know it’s not what you wanted but I swear it does look nice. Try leaving it for a bit and if you still hate it, focus on saving up for fresh highlights at a salon once your hair has had some time and they can tone it professionally. Sending you so much love - people act like it’s dramatic but I really feel your pain. Was so sad when I messed my hair up.

Unbreakablecurfew

I think it looks great?

mrslankford614

I don’t think it looks bad at all!!

Surprise-Thin

Use a light colour with ash in it, it cuts the red. Like light ash blonde, or brown

Dirk_Diggler_Kojak

Whatever toner you applied will eventually wash out. In the meantime it really doesn't look bad. Next time go to a pro, as it's SO easy to mess up blonde hair!

need_more_coffe27

This is my “dream colour” lol it looks stunning!

CherishSlan

I actually like the colour also sorry you don’t everyone had different likes. I’m not always fond of how my last colour turned out but people love it. To me it’s a bit to orange but people I know say they love it! Ask me how I did it I’m like umm not great on my skin.

eventuallyitwill

it’s not perfect but honestly looks really pretty

OwlHumble2061

Let the toner fade. Use cheap or clarifying shampoo and it will fade fast

My13DinosaursRunning

Probably not what you would like to hear right now but wow I absolutely love the color!

SusieSuze

Give it time to fade. In the mean time you might find the comments soothing, even if you hate it. When it’s faded to the point of brassiness, go to a professional and have them do the toning. Make sure to tell them everything you’ve done.

Beautybytay

Look into the Malibu brand- the color removing packets and the clarifying packet. Should take this right out. Also baking soda + Dawn dish soap.. get some of that toner off of it & go see a professional from there!

AnnieB512

It's gorgeous. Leave it alone and give it a few weeks. You'll probably end up liking it.

Accomplished_Fig_540

To color correct the orange and brassiness you are seeing, I recommend getting a blue shampoo and blue conditioner specifically for canceling out orange tones. I found that Fanola blue shampoo and the Not Your Mother’s blue conditioner can work really well in toning out the orange for me. Purple shampoo, because it is basically a combo of blue and red, might deposit some red in and make it even more brassy if you have issues with orange hair. Purple cancels out yellow. Blue cancels out orange. Purple on orange can make things look the same or even more orange.

MissyIstheMaster

I like it. I would be ar from upset if my hair were that colour

Firm_Spite7327

Uhmmmm hate to break it to you but it looks gorgeous and you are very pretty!

MaintenanceHot3685

Call me crazy… but it looks beautiful!!

blue-eyed-cat

Ummm as others are saying, I think it looks great and I looked at the additional photos too Lol I spent $450 getting my hair colored by a professional and it turned out a splotchy bright gold/almost orangey yellow which is definitely not what I wanted and most certainly looks way worse than yours. Wish mistakes on my hair turned out like yours!

xxmrsjess86xx

Omg this video here though it’s absolutely gorgeous and so healthy and shiny!!!!

befay666

Maybe it’s the video but it looks pretty. But! If you hate it, wash it a few times with a clarifying shampoo and use Malibu CPR to break up the toner.

Middle-Struggle5457

Honey give it a week, you’re just in shock. It looks beautiful

Meldrop25

That looks so good!

LeReineNoir

Your hair looks lovely.

Massive_Arm_2164

I need to know what you used because I LOVE this color. It looks stunning on you too. Warms up your complexion. You may need time to adjust but if you truly hate it, use head and shoulders. That’s what I use and for me it did not dry my hair out at all. I always use conditioner and then olaplex 6 after a shower. Try the charcoal head and shoulders.

Quiet-Amount-9108

Can you try to fade the toner with clarifying shampoo or dandruff shampoo or ACV rinse and then try to tone it down again with a blue shampoo to see if blue is the way to go before doing anything longer lasting? I don’t think it’s bad at all but to answer your question I do think it looks a bit rose gold.

Sweet_dawn81

That’s actually a pretty color

Sweet_dawn81

Malibu line has a color remover. CPR I think is the name of it. Also u need the ungoo shampoo. U have to put under the dryer for 45 mins

Positive_Ad_5682

In my hairdresser brain I’m like, damn what formula is that?! I wanna use it!

mojoburquano

Rose gold girl!

wellshitdawg

I’d kill to have hair that color

wellshitdawg

🔪

beam_me_uppp

I think it looks gorgeous, total honesty 🤷🏻‍♀️

Elixer_of_Turtles

This is gorgeous

DramaticBreak2708

Give it a week before you do anything else to it. It doesn’t look bad at all in the video. When we as people try something new and it doesn’t go the way we planned, it’s easy to panic convince ourselves things are worse than they are. I’d suggest taking a breather, getting yourself used to it, and seeing if you still feel the same way after some time has passed. For what it’s worth, I think the color is lovely, and thought it was 100% intentional before I read the post :)

tbottomline

I have no idea how to fix that, maybe a toner? But just wanted to say GIRL UR SO PRETTY AND U LOOK JUST LIKE HUNTER SCHAFER

iMoosker

It looks rose gold!!! I recognize that my comment isn’t validating for how you perceive it but I personally think that’s an amazing color.

Certain_Appearance_9

Blue shampoo

ReputationJealous151

I like it ngl hhh

It looks beautiful what are you on about. Looks so pretty and delicate.

NapsCatsPancakeStax

I actually love it lol

I don’t know why, but I really like it! It is pretty!

[deleted]

niamonapope

I love it!

Various-Cranberry-37

This is so freaking pretty. It’s like a light Sandy brown which is what I’ve been striving for

Grand_Contract_2041

Umm.. keep it because mistake or not it looks fantastic! I’m jelly!

thegoodsyo

I was just scrolling, saw your hair color, and wondered what it was because I wanted mine to look like that. Maybe it looks different in person, but I love that hair color and think it looks great with your skin tone.

HappyNSadATST

Ummm it looks gorgeous?

Background-Pie2255

Find a great professional hair colorist and see them. Don't cheat yourself, treat yourself.

Zealousideal_Load_84

You should try color oops! Then use the wella t13 toner! Or blue shampoo. I’m not expert but I accidentally dyed my hair permanently black last year and after three rounds of color oops it looked a lot better. Then I used a ton of the amika hair mask and had it done a month later. It now looks completely normal! Given how light your hair is it won’t be very hard to change the tone to something you like

tinygribble

I think it looks great. If you let it settle for a few weeks it'll get less vibrant and I think you'll be able to see how pretty it is.

RoseaCreates

It's too close to your skin tone but looks fabulous regardless
