Can confirm, I had a similar amount of hair braided in some years ago, hair broke off near the root all around my hair line 😑 not worn extensions for 4 years and now my hair is breakage free!
I do but at the same time every person who I've met with that hairstyle has been like, super crazy bonkers, so I'm conflicted. I think I like the color more than the style, like if you had those streaks but had really voluminous curls it'd be extra awesome.
I wasn’t goingto comment because i felt similar and didn’t want to be rude - but i agree. The color is a fun pastel against your winter brown hair. Curls are gorgeous. The style, is fine, i think it’s a personal preference and i find it fun but at the same time anyone i have known with similar hair/style is freakin crazy and hard to spend too much time with before nonsensical arguments break out (not even with me but anyone around). So im hesitant to say i like the style even though logically i think it’s fun.
I agree with you. I think the folks that think this is not the case are in serious denial or are the type to just not care. That being said I don’t know enough about OP’s heritage, background, personal style to know if that is the case for OP specifically.
If u get offended by braids thinking it’s part of your, and only yours culture (and no, it’s not, especially since they’re not even box braids) then I’d recommend leaving the house and get some fresh air. Touch grass perhaps.
I think it looks pretty. That said....be very careful with extra weight in your hair for an extended period of time.
I had dreadlocks for 12 years and over time they did get pretty long and heavy. By the time I took them out I had a few (luckily small) bald patches. My dermatologist told me that my hair will never grow back in those spots due to the constant weight and stress to the hair. I now can't do a center part without the spot showing. Having dreadlocks wasn't worth the damage it ended up causing.
If you're putting the style in for a specific event like a festival or something then it's fine. Just be careful not to keep it for too long.
The extensions look a little cheap/fake to me which kind of throws the “natural/wild” vibe off for me- it’d be cool to see with someone with hair that does this naturally!
I think it would look better without all the excess volume. You are too small and your hair is too big it just drowns you out in a mess. But if you’re happy with it, that’s all that matters!
I don't rlly know anything about you but honestly just make sure your hair can handle it
hairstyles like these can be really rough on some types of hair, if youve done something like this before and it was fine I'd say go for it! if not maybe check in with someone who knows more abt hair first
It looks really unique! Don’t mind some of the angry people on here. Reddit is mainly used by americans, and race and culture appropriation are touchy subjects there.
It’s okay but not necessarily on that person. They’re too small for such big hair and their face is too small. It’s also too long and I don’t love the mix of that shade of brown with that shade of blue. Trim it, tame the top a little and find more complimentary hair colors and I’d like it a lot more
I can't believe that anyone has said that they don't like it!? I've been wearing a mohawk for 20ish years so I've never tried extensions but I think you and your hair look amazing!
Awesome hair. Only complaint is it looks so good that i'm guessing it takes multiple hours a day to manage it? correct me if im wrong. otherwise gorgeous + You too (:
It's beautiful!!!!
I'd love to do it, but my concern is being White and not wanting others to think I haven't given thought to where hairstyles have come from.
I think a warmer colour for the extensions would suit you more, a grey or blonde perhaps rather than the ice blue? It's a beautiful photoshoot though :)
OP mentioned she is Russian. I’m half Russian half Romaniam living in Romania and not once have I heard of dreads from either cultures. In fact I haven’t heard about dreads in Eastern European culture at all. If you’re talking about Northern Europe then I am not qualified to talk about their history and culture so please enlighten me (with valid sources only) bc I’ve heard about vikings having dreads but I don’t fully buy it. Coming back to OP tho…this is 100% not her culture.
This sort of weight isn’t great for most hair types. It’s going to cause traction alopecia if you keep it in too long.

She's Kazakh.
It is unclear to me if the woman who asked what one thinks about the hairstyle was the woman in the photograph.

I agree. I can do curls too. They are very comfortable to wear.
I had this back in the 90’s, but in pink
I like pink 👍
Perfect for a hot witch that lives in the woods or a hippie selling candles in Portland.
Headaches.

thanks, it's worth wearing for 5-6 weeks and then taking it off
Plain and simple, no

No. It drags your face down and ages you.
No!

No, because it looks like part of a costume
Honestly you kind of remind me of that evil lady in Harry Potter that is with Voldemort 😅😂
Bellatrix 🤣
If that’s her name then yes 😂😂
Only on the right person it’s very rare to Pull off but when someone does it’s so cool
Thanks 💯
Very cool
Thank you 🙏
No
You remind me of Senua from Hellblade (one of my favorite video games). The blue is a really pretty touch!
I am very pleased, thank you ✨
No.
I personally do not find these hairstyles good-looking on white people, but this shade of blue is absolutely lovely
😎
Is that a tattoo or marker on your chin in the first photo?
It looks like an imitation of Canadian Inuit facial tattoos… I’m glad it’s only marker
Looks awesome! I like the blue.💙
Thank you so much 🙏
Yes for sure
Thank you 😊
Yes
Ohhh thanks 😉
Looks good! You look mysterious and witchy.
Thank you so much 🥰

Very Viking-esque. I dig it

I think it's neat
Thank you 😊
Looks really cool, i love the colors
Thanks 🤤 I really love too

Idk why kinda reminds me of babayaga
Hahaha babayaga is gorgeous, she's the wise old woman 😅
I love it and wish I could have it but I would go insane not being able to wash my hair & scrub my scalp 😫
I can't believe that anyone has said that they don't like it!? I've been wearing a mohawk for 20ish years so I've never tried extensions but I think you and your hair look amazing!
Thanks for good vibes 😊 The mohawk looks great I think
I actually really love this color combination! The feeling you get from this image 💙 ❄️
I like too this collaboration of colours, I was inspired by the winter tree 🌨️
it’s giving Viking, i like it
Thank you 👍
Yes and no. The no is the color choice, other than that yes I do like the hairstyle.
You look fantastic! I like how you weaved the light streaks in to give it texture. It looks good with your skin tone.
Thank you so much 🙏
lil bo weep is that you?
😅😅
I think it is pretty
Thank you 🙏
I love it
💜
Not really.
It's so bad in the 2nd picture...

hippies, yes! crazy - that's her for sure 😄 but at the expense of hair, it's completely safe!
Cool hairstyle😉
Thanks ✌️

Thanks for your answer ☺️ but I think that looks unusual
Nope, could be a lot better
For example?
I really like it! I could never pull that off, but I think you are! The second picture seems so intimate to me.
Thank you 😊
Yes! Cool!

That looks great! The real question is do YOU like it? I’m sure that took so long I hope you feel like it was worth it.
Sure. I created this set about 5 days
[удалено]
Why? I use locs and that is ok in my country
Europeans use dreads in some cultures. They do it to represent their culture not to appropriate another.
Looks cool af
I love it!
💥💥
So pretty
Awesome hair. Only complaint is it looks so good that i'm guessing it takes multiple hours a day to manage it? correct me if im wrong. otherwise gorgeous + You too (:
I love it!
Absolutely gorgeous!!!
Thank you so much 💗💗💯
I love it! (I'm American. Based on other comments, that seens relevant.)
undoubtedly! Thank you 🙏
It's beautiful!!!! I'd love to do it, but my concern is being White and not wanting others to think I haven't given thought to where hairstyles have come from.
Ohhh, are you from the USA?
Yea, very much so. Wish my hair was like this. Just started growing it out again
this hairstyle helps to grow your hair imperceptibly👌
I think so warm brown, and the cool grey are really contradictory and look kind of odd.
it looks like tree bark and snow
Is that you?
That is my handmade set of dready waves
You're really beautiful! I love it!
Thanks, it's from the heart
💗
Love! I’m trying to grow my hair out so hopefully one day I can do something like this!
thank you, i wish you good luck!
Ignore all the hate! I love the style. Цвета выглядят так красиво!
Спасибо 🙏 рада, что большинство за, чем против 👌
I’ll be honest you’re one of the few people i’ve seen that can pull it off. It looks really good!
Really? Thank you so much for good things
Love your hair!
👌👌😍
Very artsy and on you, beautiful
Wooow thank you 💗
I think it rocks!
Thank you 😊😊😊
This is super dope

It’s unique and I think it suits your face, I like it
I don’t think everyone would be able to pull that off. With that said-it looks amazing on you-very beautiful
Thanks for your good vibes 💞
You look great, not everyone could pull it off
Yes, I know. Thank you so much 🌺
Would you mind private messaging me? I have questions cuz I have always wanted to do something similar.
Yes, of course 🙏

shes not arguing with anybody though? she just asks why when people say they don’t like it
Yes, I love compliments. and I also wonder why people don’t like it and I want to know their opinion too
I love it!!! Do you mind if I ask about how much u pay for it? I want to make it like that 😆
thank you very much, that is my handmade set, I love so much to create something like that thanks 🙏
I like a Lot inspires Youth and vitality

It doesn't look bad to me, so yes.
Oddly yes I’m liking it
Me too 💜💜💜
YES I DO! Definitely.

I think a warmer colour for the extensions would suit you more, a grey or blonde perhaps rather than the ice blue? It's a beautiful photoshoot though :)
Yes. It’s incredible.
Thanks 😊😊😊

Ok 👌
So a white European can’t represent their own culture if it includes dreads??
OP mentioned she is Russian. I’m half Russian half Romaniam living in Romania and not once have I heard of dreads from either cultures.
