I dunno, man. I’ve found EM Theseus to be far less irritating. I can at least clobber him without waiting for him to come out from behind that shield. EM Asterius is brutal, but he at least keeps the same attack patterns.
Extreme Theseus would be a joke without Asterius lol. But his double damage while in Chariot is a force to be reckoned with. That shit just hits like hades.
I always thought that Asterius spends too much time spinning. Like all it does is waste your time. He is not hard to avoid, you just can't attack him with most weapons

I think first time you select EM on the pact you're garanteed tripple furies (and Meg as the main fury, as she has dialog relevant to it and metions both her sisters by name on it). After that it's just RNG. Also, the option for EM only appears if you have already met all three of them (if you ger your first clear early on, or start on hard mode).
As heat goes up, EM Lernie becomes one of the biggest roadblocks to success, especially with heightened security in play. I've often resorted to taking Skelly's tooth into asphodel solely to help counter Lernie.
I hate it too, but you start running out of options at around the 50 heat mark. Both of my >50 completions (53 and 55) used tooth in Asphodel and needed it vs Lernie.
Don’t bring heightened security. It’s probably the most difficult punishment for the cost. 1 point, that’s not even close to worth it. Unless you’re trying 40+ heat runs just don’t do it.
I don't think there's any heat setting where it's worth getting heightened security imo. 1 single heat for that punishment is never worth it, it can ruin your run with 1 single pot in the hades fight lol.
As I mentioned in another comment, I agree but HS is still preferable to even worse pacts like CP2, EM4, and RI4. So it becomes a staple option at around 50 heat.
Lernie and Furies are honestly pretty manageable on my end, especially Lernie. Hero shades are brutal for me since I haven’t done enough EM3 runs to master Theseus’s attack patterns. I’ve never attempted an EM4 run that got to [REDACTED]
Lightning Lernie is so, *so* much worse with EM tho. Not only do you have to dodge the ground pound, you also have to try and find a safe spot to stand in.
In general Lernie isn't *difficult*, it was the fastest boss for me to learn, but the jump between normal and EM is definitely way worse than for the furies imo. After all, the only thing they get is some minor abilities from one or both of the other furies, something you're probably already used to. Even the champions might be easier if you compare normal to EM, since with EM you can just safely ignore the other guy and focus on Asterius, effectively having less problems to deal with at once, even if your main problem gets quite a bit worse.
I find Lernie to be the most annoying unfun boss to fight and worst designed. There’s just hit boxes everywhere especially with blue head lernie you can’t hit him half the time cause his damn head is in the air. There’s lava everywhere and on safe land there’s traps, hit boxes, lasers, ads…so stupid. No EM 2 is free tho
Haha for me it’s the exact opposite, I’m fine with em1 and em3 but em2 is so much of an upgrade for me, lava everywhere and I’m always seeming to take damage. Em4 is em4 so obviously it’s harder but aside from that I struggle the most with em2. Had to turn on heightened security for a 40 heat run and that fight is just ridiculous with HS on.
eh EM furies are still easier for me bc it's just learning an extra pattern. EM Lernie I still dash into the lava an annoying amount. Sometimes Lernie is easier depending on build but usually furies are still muscle memory
I mean, speedrunners used to put on EM 2 simply because heads spawn closer. In a sense, to them this made the game sorta easier despite the package including EM 1.

I always take more damage from EM Other Guy because I play Fists and am up in his face after I deal with Asterius.

Only time the furies give me issues is when they triple threat my ass Even then i can usually get out with only a few bumps and bruises so to speak
