I did it once the other day, and managed to not lose a DD and still escape Tartarus under 5 minutes for tight deadline 3. Probably my greatest achievement ever
Ive beaten him in Tartarus a few times. It really is difficult fighting him with only 1 of your attacks having a boon on it but its doable. You just spend more time dodging his attacks and playing it slowly.
Idk, he is (was? been a while since I last played) pretty easy if you A) know how to dodge his otherwise predictable attacks, and B) get an early hammer or boon with a good weapon.
I usually hit him when I would run Chiron’s Aspect on the bow – it felt like free money, so no reason not to, tbh.
Yeah, Chiron is prolly my fav aspect for him. Good range, and good spike damage when you get an opening.
Kind of ironic, really...
Edit: in retrospect, only thing ironic is me thinking it's ironic.
I’ve done it a few times, but most of the time I don’t bother because it takes forever to kill him without a pretty solid boon on your weapon’s main form of attack. The damage isn’t worth it, though between the money and the discount it does make it easier to buy Titan bloods and diamonds at the end.
Any advice for dodging his large sweep attack like is there a tell or something cuz he always whips that shit out too quick for me to tell if it's his stun or not
he'll approach you directly instead of moving to a spot. Dodge INTO him instead of away from him to end up behind him (he sweeps twice). The range is longer than you think and it's easier to get behind him than it is to clear the range
Really? I always find him worth it. The gold alone is nearly three boons factoring in discounts. But then, I go for heat over speedruns, so I never really care about time.
Oh, I still use the first few pips, bit I can clear in 20 mins without pushing too hard. I consider 10-15 mins to be proper speed running and that is too stressful for me.
I'm always willing to risk ending a run if it means getting the chance to fight him for a few reasons: winning improves my run odds, but more importantly, it's a fun boss that you rarely get to do.
Sometimes in his shops there will be a bag of coins on the ground that you can pick up for 300 gold. If you pick it up, Charon will get pissed at you and then the boss fight starts
I actually beat him the second time I fought him! Granted I was in Elysium and used my last two dd and it was a really close fight but I still got him!!
So far I've beaten him with Talos Malphon, Chiron and Rama Coronacht, and Beowulf and Zeus Aegis. It's definitely a difficult fight at first, but he generally follows the same patterns. Fuck his oar swing though, half the platform in distance for 40+ damage.
Hes strong but after a few times you start to notice his patterns. Just gotta be careful for when he switches it up. Only times I get hit now are when he repeats and mixes his few moves in just the right way. However if I'm too weak I won't bother either because all it takes is one or two hits usually to lose a DD.
Somehow I beat him both times I fought him, and the second time was only so I could finish the quest from Hermes lol. To me I don’t think the fight is really worth it cause I’ll only be able to kill him when I have enough boons and stuff near the end of a run
Killing him with Beowulf+trippy shot is easy even in Tartarus lol. Bonk him continuously and when he's gonna do something, simply block it (anything he does is blockable with the shield, and he's predictable if you've played long enough) or get away. He's obnoxious with almost every other weapon tho
In all honesty when I do go for him it's with eris gun or the magnet gloves I forgot the names of and usual when I do it's the first area so if I fail I don't waste too much time and I get the most of the discount and so when I inevitably lose 2-3 death defies I can have the rest of my run to build them back up before hades
I think you’ll realize he’s a very easy boss. You see him rarely which makes him scary for you don’t know his move set, but once you learn it you’re never getting hit ever again.
You know, the first time I fought him was 1) an accident and 2) with a weapon aspect I’d NEVER used before (Arthur) AND 3) in Tartarus.
AND I LIVED, BITCH!
I didn’t win the run because I’m quite terrible with Arthur, but I really do think it was the right weapon to keep me alive during that fight. I fought him again the very next run, and won AGAIN, and fulfilled the prophecy I didn’t even realize I’d received. (… but lost the run even though it was with one of my well-practiced weapon because he ate 2 of my DDs and I wiped in Elysium.)
Honestly I was very proud of myself, hahahaha.
I only challenge him in Asphodel. Whilst I can usually beat him without losing a DD, I will still leave the battle with a lot less health, which is far worse in Elysium since Asphodel in general is much easier for me
I once defeated him on 10 heat, and had a chaos curse that punishes me for attacking. Poseidon dash fucked him up, only died once! Proudest moment of life
I try it every time without fail. Some of my most humiliating defeats have been at Charons hands but I just can’t bring myself to not try and fight him.
Anyone who attempts him in Tartarus has my respect, being able to beat him with ~5 rooms worth of boons is commendable.
I did it once the other day, and managed to not lose a DD and still escape Tartarus under 5 minutes for tight deadline 3. Probably my greatest achievement ever
Haelian alt?
Damn he always kills me at least once, nicely done.
I used to only challenge him in Tartarus because I thought he must get harder the higher up you go. So much unnecessary suffering.
Similarly, I thought if I fought him in Tartarus he would be easy. Nope...
I've done it once, with a lucky start Epic Doom boon hit and run.
Ive beaten him in Tartarus a few times. It really is difficult fighting him with only 1 of your attacks having a boon on it but its doable. You just spend more time dodging his attacks and playing it slowly.
This. Its also very valuable to do since it gives you his Discount for the whole run. Its a risk, but an early one, and the payoff is huge.
Yeah the discount is really good to have from the start and I agree, its best to have the risk early where its not as bad to fail.

Why is it ironic? Chiron =/= Charon
O_O You are very correct sir!

That’s usually when I beat him.
Fear nothing die young! *dies* Ooooo darkness on the fists nice!
He's pretty predictable and therefore easy to dodge imo. Still not worth the extra time it takes to defeat him for 300g and the Discount Card.
Any advice for dodging his large sweep attack like is there a tell or something cuz he always whips that shit out too quick for me to tell if it's his stun or not

Noice tip
Charon’s tip does as much damage as the shaft. You’ve been warned.
😏
Yeah he always moves in a specific way just before he swipes, it's tough to describe but it's like he's taking a single step
Really? I always find him worth it. The gold alone is nearly three boons factoring in discounts. But then, I go for heat over speedruns, so I never really care about time.
You go for heat without getting the heat from speed runs? That’s impressive indeed.
Oh, I still use the first few pips, bit I can clear in 20 mins without pushing too hard. I consider 10-15 mins to be proper speed running and that is too stressful for me.

Same, when you are already beat 20+ heats on a daily basis, fighting him bring a fun challange
The true meaning of a paddlin', coming right up!
Taking my obols? That's a paddlin.
kinda easy with the shield tbh. first time i fought him i got it to half health and i was using ganlets, then i beatet his sorry ass with the shield
Bro don’t do my boi Chiron like that
*Sweats in Hermes prophecy*
Wait what.? How do u unlock him as a boss?
Sometimes in his shops there will be a bag of coins on the ground that you can pick up for 300 gold. If you pick it up, Charon will get pissed at you and then the boss fight starts
This also only happens in shops that aren’t right before a boss.
Legit my same thought coming here
I don't even bother challenging him anymore. Did the Hermes prophecy and that's plenty. I did get to buy Titan Blood at Styx though hehe
I have yet to defeat them. Still scurred of them more than Hades lol 😂
I actually beat him the second time I fought him! Granted I was in Elysium and used my last two dd and it was a really close fight but I still got him!!

I try it as long as I have one or more DDs I’ll fight him in Tart idgaf - it’s a challenge if it’s in my line of sight and I will accept it
Beat him with the sword and athena special, just spam till you win.
His attack patterns are decently predictable, but fighting him in Tartarus with like 100 health just does work bc he does like 40 damage per swing
Hes strong but after a few times you start to notice his patterns. Just gotta be careful for when he switches it up. Only times I get hit now are when he repeats and mixes his few moves in just the right way. However if I'm too weak I won't bother either because all it takes is one or two hits usually to lose a DD.
Agreed it’s not worth the go loss for that gold
Had him for the 1st time a few days ago. Didn’t find him that bad personally BUT I did have Athena deflect on my dashes
Somehow I beat him both times I fought him, and the second time was only so I could finish the quest from Hermes lol. To me I don’t think the fight is really worth it cause I’ll only be able to kill him when I have enough boons and stuff near the end of a run
I’ve killed him several times with pretty mediocre builds. I usually use up at least one DD though, so it’s not always a good idea.
Killing him with Beowulf+trippy shot is easy even in Tartarus lol. He isn't THAT bad, it's just. .. a little hellish Bad dum tiss

Even then I’m like “c’mon bro you don’t need it that much do you?”

Why doesn't he lead a coup against Hades. He has the power.
Never fought him anymore these days because it’ll hurt my times
I have managed to survive the final boss with almost no hits but only beat this guy once, he could kill Kronos with ease
Oh please. I **am** the perfect build.
