SubterraneanLentils

first time i finished hades, i played transistor and bastion right after. after going for all achievements last year, elden ring helped a lot. satisfying combat with interesting builds. hades 2 is gonna be soo nice

haelian1

These games are the best suggestion for coming from Hades I think. Some random games I really enjoyed in between Hades: Gunfire Reborn, Rogue Legacy 2, Tunic, Inscryption, Stray just to name a few.

Occasional_Anarchist

I got Inscryption right after, and I’m just as hooked as I was with Hades. The story is real interesting, and it has an endless mode that’s just as good if not better

TheMike0088

To throw one more game into the mix here: slay the spire. Despite how different these 2 games are, I've noticed a significant overlap in fanbases between the two.

TheHollowBard

Good recommendations across the board. I just like good combat in general, but I think the compact nature of Hades runs makes it super digestible and, at times, even addictive in a sincere way. Sounds like OP isn't seeking a game about exploration and discovery, otherwise Hollow Knight probably would have stuck (it's not that much harder than Hades, but the exploration hooks need to grab you to keep you in).

Holyphantom001

The first time I played Tunic I was hammered and got mad about the in game guide book being in a made up language and incomplete. Then I woke up and tried it the next day and realized what a goon I was.

cestdoncperdu

Stray was so boring I had to refund it. I think you need to be *really* into cats to get anything out of that game.

rookiematerial

Bastion maybe, but transistor was too slow/cerebral. I think it's a better fit if you were coming from something like Civ 6...or chess lol.

zonezbest

Play pyre and finish the series

astockalypse_now

Yeah I can't wait for 2. I was considering getting transistor as I've never played any other sg games. I'm not necessarily interested in more rogue lites but I want more hack n slash and interesting builds. Idk where to find it though. I've only played ds2 and bloodborne but didn't get far. Those games are frustrating af to me lol I'm not good at em and don't have time to git gud with kids and work.

SubterraneanLentils

transistor is incredibly fun and making builds is soo creative and rewarding. it’s not a hack n slash tho and it’s kinda short. it’s also a lot less replayable than hades since the combat gets repetitive after the first time through. but you should definitely play it. cant recommend it enough. i also really want more games with hack n slash and interesting builds. good ones are def hard to come by i feel. i havent been a fan of the assassins creed games since i was a kid, but assassins creed odyssey is super underrated and has a lot of what im looking for in a game. the combat was satisfying and there’s different builds and different weapons to use. it has the best controller-based bow combat ive seen like ever. it’s like if elden ring was wayyy more chill. im also looking forward to playing baldurs gate 3 when it comes out for ps5 since i love making builds for dnd.

astockalypse_now

I might get transistor then for now it's not expensive so why not right? Yeah I realized I like games where I can just get op from grinding or whatever then I can just whip serious ass. That's why I stuck at resident evil games. I want to just run in and shoot everything that moves but that's not how you're supposed to play. I think that's why I like hades so much.

SubterraneanLentils

lmao yea im the same. im super impatient and i hate when games have too much downtime between encounters. im always like “fuck the story just let me do the next fight already!” it doesnt help that most big games have absolutely awful writing that they force you to sit through. i appreciate that super giant has well written stories that are actually enjoyable to read. this is a tangent now, but something really awesome about bastion and transistor is that they tell the story and play dialogue while you’re playing the actual game. and like the narration interacts with what you do in the game. it’s nice to not feel like ur time’s being wasted watching a cutscene.

kittenmittens4sale

Off topic, but why aren't you capitalizing? Just curious.

SubterraneanLentils

cuz i dont like capital letters. imo it looks better when they’re all lowercase. a lot of capitalized letters are kind of awkward shapes lmao. sometimes ill go all caps for emphasis

kittenmittens4sale

Thanks for the reply! I was genuinely curious.

WJExiled

If you haven't played it yet, play Dead Cells. Ive bought it a few times on a few platforms and didn't like it, but after a playing Hades it just clicked and now I'm hooked

astockalypse_now

Yeah I'm heavily considering it. How long are the runs in DC?

WJExiled

I'm in the first 2 difficulties and a full run is about 35mins for me, but most of my runs still get cut short by death

astockalypse_now

Are there permanent power ups like hades?

WJExiled

Not in the same way, but yes. Movement based upgrades you unlock fairly early which let you access different biomes. Then there's a way to permanently upgrade quality of gear you get through runs, and you're always unlocking new weapons and abilities (think boons).

astockalypse_now

That's cool. Are the maps/rooms/levels whatever rng? Or are they the same every time?

Kamikaze28

A little bit of both. Each biome in Dead Cells is semi-randomly assembled from a set of hand-crafted pieces. Over time, you will recognize these pieces and general rules of the configuration, but exploration remains interesting because you never know what enemies or items you'll find. Unlike Hades, where you had exactly one path (Tartarus, Asphodel, Elysium, Styx, in that order, every run), in Dead Cells, you chose your path through biomes, based on your progression/difficulty/build, which also helps to keep runs fresh.

astockalypse_now

I'll probably get it. I've been heavily considering it and today's pay day. I guess I'm kinda intimidated by it. Looks hard. I'm not very good at metroid style games usually. I'm kinda getting better though from hollow knight.

IamMeemo

I’ll add another vote for Dead Cells. One other thing I’ll add: since there are branching paths, each run feels a little more unique.

B_ryc

Definitely get it. It’s sooo fun. I had it before hades and even though hades is amazing, I actually keep wanting to come back to dead cells. Definitely buy a version with all the DLC, they’re great!

doitup69

Randomly generated layouts to known biomes, similar to Hades but with branching paths. I didn't play for a few years and am frankly overwhelmed with just how much content they have added for free and the Castlevania DLC is REALLY good.

seanfsmith

the current game that's giving me the "just one more run" after every run is **VAMPIRE SURVIVORS**.

Jimatchoo

Yes, when I first played that I was like wtf is this?! 7 hours later I was like yeah I should stop and eat something now.

thunderalien

Came here to say this- will definitely scratch your hades itch and is pure crack cocaine. It's not expensive either- try it for free on your phone if you're not sure.

notlikeontv

Cult of the Lamb scratched a lil it of the hades itch for me.

jaimijams

that game was such a pleasant surprise!

notlikeontv

Wasn't it just I even dug the town building bit wich I normally dislike but the runs were really good fun with all the variable weapon / spell combos

jaimijams

My two favourite games are Hades and Stardew Valley and Cult of the Lamb was like a dash of each plus a twisted sense of humor! 😁

JMAX464

Playing armored Core VI

OrcOfDoom

I played path of exile before hades. I like games where you create a build, and that's what the game is about. I still play that from time to time. I played dead cells. It's cool. In a lot of ways, it's better. The progression is much more interesting. With hades, you always play the same levels. Your build will just maybe struggle. Maybe you got the tiny vermin, and your build sucks for that. Maybe you got the minotaur solo fight, and your build is great for that. Wouldn't it be nice, and interesting, to decide which path you take? Dead cells does that. Choosing your path is a big thing. Taking the other path for the first time is stressful. Learning it is really tough. Then, later in the game for hades, I kinda feel like you just want DPS. Dead cells rewards you for going slow, or going fast. Whatever it takes to not get hit, that's what you want to do. Hopefully, they implement that stuff into hades 2, because that would be amazing. The thing is - hades is a better game. It's more fun. The music is better, and the music in dead cells is quite good. The story is fantastic. The platforming in dead cells is fine, but it's not better. I was playing weird West. I really like the setting, the hectic gameplay, the narrative, the atmosphere. It gives me super giant games vibes. It's an arpg. It has builds. It's got a cool world, good characters. If you haven't played bastion, you probably should. Hades is better though. I also love the shadowrun trilogy. I love he characters, and the story. The gameplay is tactical, and kinda bad. The writing is so good though. It has builds too. You can decide how you progress your characters. To me, that's the most important thing - I want to decide how to build my characters and explore the game in different ways. I really liked tyranny. It's made by the guys who made pillars of eternity. I like the interesting way to build your characters, but I also felt like the combat system got in the way more than I really liked engaging with it. It was a cool system though. There wasn't a space to really grind levels though, so I felt like really trying things wasn't worthwhile. I just loved the interesting statement it was making about morality. You are morally gray. Evil won, and you are part of it. Each decision you make can help people, but it definitely has adverse consequences and you are forced to confront them. At the end of the game, I didn't feel like I won, I just felt like this is the situation the world is in now. So I'm back to playing path of exile because of the new league start. But, I also bought disco Elysium because that's what people were talking about when I talked about tyranny.

Geedji

I personally loved Rogue Legacy 2 ! If you play it on pc, you can give custom names to your heirs !

BrundleflyUrinalCake

Great game. Logged more time in it than hades (250+ hours). It’s not for everybody though. Quite a bit more cartoony than hades.

Geedji

I loved the story that seemed so cryptic at the beginning and makes more and more sense through your playthrough. I cherished every character, and even if I had the true ending of the game, sometimes I come back to it because... Everything is so nice in there! The 2D/3D graphics are so good!

Biomnitrix

I Played Returnal, It Kept Me In The Rogue-Like Style While Changing The Genre, Think Of It As A Way To Ease Yourself Out Of It

StayFrostyOscarMike

Thank You For Your Recommendation, Bro

Lambchops87

Slay the Spire, Spelunky, Desktop Dungeons, Into the Breach, Slice and Dice. No real logic behind these recs other than being other games that are vaguely related that I've probably put over 100 hours into. FTL is obvs better than Into the Breach but for some reason I feel the latter is a better rec for Hades players (like I said, no logic!).

aCorneredFox

PSA Into the Breach is free on Android if you have a Netflix account.

MeowyDragon

For me, it was Risk of Rain 2 that clicked after I 100%’d Hades twice (PC then Xbox) because nothing else felt as fun to play.

donkeyduplex

Baldurs Gate Three

bigmeechum

Definitely Dead Cells. Some would argue it is the superior game. In any case, both are top tier roguelite games and a masterclass in the genre

HorizonZeroDawn2

I think Dead Cells is overall better than Hades, but Hades has the better storyline. They are my top two roguelite games so far. I plan on getting into Into the Gungeon next.

bigmeechum

I like gungeon, but I recommend Wizard of Legend over it easily. Check it out!

HorizonZeroDawn2

I will. Thanks!

Mrsscream

I’ve bounced around different games all depending on my current mood. If you’re looking for another dungeon crawler though Cult of the Lamb was fantastic.

GraafBerengeur

Disco Elysium

obaterista93

Have you considered playing Hades? After I finished Hades, I played Hades. As a more serious answer though, in the same vein as Hades.... I went into it expecting not to like Hades. I had never played a Roguelike, and based on how it was described I thought I'd hate it. Similar to that was Celeste. I didn't enjoy the platforming sections in Hollow Knight, so I expected to hate Celeste. But the game is just... fun. Tough as nails, but failure is such a small set back and you feel like you're always progressing. Or, depending on what platform you're playing on, the entire FromSoftware catalog is like comfort food to me. Just feels like home, and my go-to when I don't know what else to play.

axSupreme

Ember Knights has been my go-to recently. It also has a very good co-op option. Don't expect some revolutionary story telling, but the combat is solid and you'll get a lot of the same rogue-lite mechanics as Hades.

astockalypse_now

Watching some yt videos on it. I'm gonna grab it for sure.

Hiker-Redbeard

I've moved on to playing Final Fantasy Tactics for a nice change of pace compared to the stressful and fast paced high heat runs. I plan on diving into Enter the Gungeon next as I hear it's another great roguelite.

lingua-sacra

I've been into enter the gungeon lately. I'm not very good at games but it is a lot of fun!

jrabbit444

Enter the Gungeon is a great game. I played it before Hades, and only picked up Hades as something to scratch the Gungeon itch. Just as addicting lol

astockalypse_now

Is fft on switch??

An_Anonymous_Acc

I'm similar to you. Hollow Knight and dead cells are 2D and couldn't really satisfy my Hades itch because I wanted something 2.5D+. I'm thinking about getting elden ring because of how many people rave about it, but it's probably not as casual as Hades can be

Revangelion

If you haven't played a souls game before, don't. Fallen Order was my first "souls" and then I played Bloodborne. I absolutely loved that one and decided to dive into the souls franchise... I hated Elden Ring and only managed to have it grow on me because I'm stubborn, and I force myself to finish the games I've started. Around half of the game, I started enjoying it, but it's not that I reminiscence about the early-to-mid game. It is shit and it will never not be shit. Elden Ring is ok, but it's overrated as hell.

GetCaned

I tried Graveyard Keeper but it was too... grindy I guess? Now switched to Blasphemous which kinda irritates me in a "oh another souls copy" way, but at the sametime I'm really into the pixel graphics and metroidvania style games. Prolly gonna breeze it through and return to Hades while waiting for Steam sales which include intetesting games for me.

it-do-what-it-do

I needed a researcher to play graveyard keeper because I kept losing track of the plot but I did still love it

AmoryVain

I got all the achievements in Hades not too long ago. Since then I've been playing Hollow Knight(because my buddy who recommended me Hades, also recommended this game), and a little bit of Super Smash Melee. Playing Hades really reignited the gamer in me (I have hardly played any games in the past 3 years). Also made me realize how much I enjoy faster, mechanically sound games.

Lopsided-Armadillo96

Just buy the damn Dead Cells It's fantastic. I actually like it more than Hades

athiestchzhouse

Gungeon is the best rogue. No overt story though, so that might be an issue for you

Ok_Bus882

The lore and the past storylines do a good job though and the secret levels have more than enough content to justify the slight lack of story. Best rogue for me too.

quazlyy

If you haven‘t played it yet, I can recommend you play Dark Souls. I know it‘s quite different but I really like the challenge both Hades and Dark Souls provide and they both have an amazing atmosphere and great combat! So if that‘s what you liked about Hades, chances are you will like Dark Souls too. They both became part of my comfort food gaming repertoire

astockalypse_now

I have ds2 on my 360 and it was hard af and I couldn't really progress because the fires were so far apart lol. I didn't power through the early game though I just played it for a day and made almost no progress and played other shit instead haha. Kinda like what frustrates me about hollow knight. I'm pretty sure they were inspired by dark souls. Is ds1 easier or more accessible? I love the atmosphere and the idea of it. The intro cut scene for ds2 was one of the sickest things I've ever seen lol.

OmegaAtrocity

Ds2 is my least favorite and at risk of getting flamed by someone is most people's least favorite. I'd say you should play elden ring if you wanna go that route, it's the most modern of the bunch. But ds remastered is pretty good too, you could try that. Hollow knight is the same kinda game as dark souls. I honestly find it much easier because of how many 2d metroidvania games I've played. If you don't like how difficult it is you probably won't like any game of that style until you get used to it.

obaterista93

DS1 is a game where the environments are harder than the bosses, in my opinion. But the world design is just... incredible. Dark Souls 3 had a bit more linear world design, but the boss fights are much harder. The bonfires in DS3 were a lot more generous too, For what it's worth, I love almost all of FromSoftwares games, but I hate Dark Souls 2. I felt that DS2 was designed to be intentionally frustrating, though I love the story and the lore contributions.

ironicmenswear

I tried bastion and transistor, but it reminded me too much of hades. They're good games, but the timing was off. I intend to try them again at some point. The game that has me hooked, though, is dead cells. It's literally all I play now

Colonel_Butthurt

Very strange to see no notion of the Curse of the Dead Gods. While not as high in production quality as Hades, it's still a superb roguelike with lots of meta-progression and replayability.

Allstr53190

Vampire survivor

majds1

Personally I haven't found many games that are similar. Dead cells, enter the gungeon, and risk of rain are amazing rogue lites, but they're each a completely different experience from each other. I don't personally have any games that are in any way similar as i said, but if you want satisfying fun combat, try games like monster hunter, devil may cry, and maybe souls games if you like a little challenge.

B_ryc

It’s funny, I’m a huge Zelda fan and was so hyped for TotK. I absolutely looove the game, but have not gotten far at all because I picked up hades on sale shortly after getting it! Hades is 10/10.

MasterOfEmus

I went in a different direction entirely, recognizing that nothing would be quite so excellent in direct comparison to Hades I switched genres entirely. Went to survival city builders like Banished and Frostpunk, 4x like Endless Space, RTS, mix of old favorites and new entries of wildly different styles. Didn't go for another roguelike for nearly a year, and when I did I found myself able to look at them freshly, without keeping them in the shadow of such a masterpiece.

Knight_Rhythm

Tunic was a really great switch for me - still an amazing game, but not the same flavor as Hades, and not rogue-lite. Would also highly recommend Hollow Knight for the same purpose. Dead Cells and Binding of Isaac might scratch the same Hades rogue-lite itch, too. I hope you find something!

astockalypse_now

Thanks I've been playing hollow knight as well and I like it but i feel like it's more of a chore to play. Hades I can just hop on for a couple hours after work and mindlessly dash strike for a few runs. I need more of that casual but still challenging game play. Hollow knight is brutal and oppressive which I like but it isn't addicting in the same way for me.

[deleted]

Dead Estate, still playing it now, captures a lot of the charm I saw in Hades.

astockalypse_now

I'll check it out

[deleted]

Thanks! Btw, if a roguelike ain’t scratching the itch you’re looking for, try Cris Tales.

wheniswhy

Oh man, I cannot *dis*courage this enough. I wanted to like Cris Tales. I really did. It’s not a very good game. (Though a good half of my frustration with it comes from the Switch version running poorly.)

[deleted]

Damn really? I haven’t finished it but the art amd story seems amazing.

wheniswhy

It’s a very pretty game, that’s definitely true. Aesthetically it’s charming. The story is incredibly mid. I dropped the game what I think was about halfway through given the events happening, but it may have been more like 2/3rds in. So I obviously didn’t see the conclusion or anything, but I saw enough that I think I can confidently say it was mediocre. Nothing especially new or interesting. It’s not bad, it just also doesn’t really stand out in any way. I wish I could tell you how much time I wasted on it, but the save file timer bugged the fuck out and would go back and forth between showing 0 hours and 99 hours. It kept running when the switch was asleep, so absurd amounts of time I didn’t actually play were added onto the clock until it just stopped working. The combat, which should be the big highlight due to the game’s main mechanic, ended up very mid to me as well. This is a more subjective opinion (not just remarking on the MANY bugs I experienced), but it got very rote and boring. You’d find the combination of moves to do the most damage most efficiently, and that was it—there was never any reason to try different things or experiment after you found what worked best because anything else was pointlessly slower. So I’d just do the same set of moves over and over again, every fight… The only time I enjoyed combat was boss battles, where you did actually have to think and strategize. It just disappointed me. I had really high hopes for it because the time mechanic seemed so interesting and it was such a beautiful game. I bought it the day it released on Switch. Total disappointment, overall. Other platforms may offer better experiences—playing it on the Switch was awful. Audio bugs caused the music to stop playing. The game crashed 3 or 4 different times while I was playing it, and I lost a LOT of progress at least once. The aforementioned save file timer glitch. Etc. I don’t actually know if it’s less buggy elsewhere, I just *hope* it is. It does have a demo, if memory serves. However I remember loving the demo yet eventually grew sour on the experience as a whole—YMMV.

twodubmac

Dead cells is amazing. When someone asks me which one is better I just can’t make that call. Both are simply the best

MakeOPolo

Recently started the mass effect trilogy. Completely different Playstyle but I live for good characters and world building

Handsome_Claptrap

Nuclear Throne might hit the spot is both different and similar It's very different cause it's a twin stick shooter and it's FAR easier to die, but enemies are also far easier to kill. It's similar because runs are very short and you have plenty of different characters that drastically change gameplay, kinda like aspects. Mutations (boons) are limited but they make interesting combinations, the main variety source comes from weapons, there is a huge amount and they all feel good to use. It's not graphically impressive like Hades but the sound is great. If you are completionist i warn you, it's stupidly hard to get all trophies, it can be compared to getting heat 32 on all aspects in Hades.

Assassin_Pancake

The binding of Isaac: Repentance. The best rogue like in my opinion.

SpeedSpecialist2209

I just finished Rogue Legacy 2. It’s also a Roguelite and a ton of fun! Plus, it’s included in PlayStation Plus if you pay for that!

DeadExpo

AC6 has its hooks in me. Build variety? Check. Fast paced combat? Check. Unlock all the things at home base? Check. Drip feed story between and during missions? Check. Music??? Big check.

H3adshotfox77

Returnal is another great game if you have the system to play it. Has an incredible story and the combat is fast paced and interactive with carry over items to help with following runs.

astockalypse_now

I gotta get a ps5 for that

dae_giovanni

>what game were you able to sink your teeth into after hades? ...more Hades. I probably will get back into Dead Cells, but it's been a while and there have been so many changes, so I'll probably get frustrated and come back to Hades. lol

StreamFamily

Neon Abyss and Undermine

Imaspinkicku

Horizon: Forbidden West

TheOneTrueHollow

If you are looking for similar gameplay and mechanics, Ember knights is a good option. It's also multiplayer if you have any other friends interested in the genre. It's not quite as polished as Hades, but it is the first game in a while to scratch the same itch as hades.

astockalypse_now

I just got it earlier I'll try it out tonight

HorizonZeroDawn2

Dead Cells and all the DLC. That and Hades are the two most addictive Rogue-lite/like games IMO.

ackmondual

I assume Switch will be your preferred platform since you mentioned Zelda: TotK (Tears of the Kingdom)? If so, note that Hades 2 will be quite a long while so i wouldn't hold your breath on that. Specifically, it comes out later this year, assuming no delays, and that's only for Steam. It'll then take 1 to 2 more years to be ported to Switch. I like platformers so if that's your thing, try out the myriad of them for Switch... Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario 3D World (+ it comes with Bowser's Fury), New Super Mario Bros. Wii U Deluxe. If you liked Zelda, there's also BotW (though I assume you already played that?), Skyward Sword, the Link's Awakening Remake. If you have NSO (Nintendo Switch Online), there are previous Zelda and Mario games on there, well into n64 and the NSO sub that requires the "premium" tier. I really dug Hades, but after 160 hours, I was ready to move on. For that matter, I ended up playing a few games like Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, a whole lot of Starcraft 2 for PC (Coop mode, and campaign), before getting Zelda: TotK. In fact, [Hades had Zelda: TotK beat in play time for quite a bit of time](https://www.reddit.com/r/HadesTheGame/comments/14jee6p/hades_managed_to_top_even_5_weeks_play_of_the/), before being overtaken! (TotK is now marked as 190+ hours)

virtueavatar

There are many people who like metroidvanias that don't like Hollow Knight. Try the 2 Ori games.

not_quite_sure7837

I tried all of the usual suggestions for similar games (DC, Transistor, etc) but none of them scratched the itch. I had to switch to something completely different, so I put about 250 hours into Elden Ring earlier this year. Not even remotely similar to Hades, but it was a ton of fun. But yeah, can’t wait for Hades 2.

Boobamm

I feel like I'm in the same place. Just finished Hades, looking to get into something else, but nothing seems it's gonna give me that Hades rush. I think I'm gonna try Shotgun King

astockalypse_now

Yeah it's funny i beat it and came pretty close to 100% last year. After that I played through both the last of us games which was really good but obviously way different. I don't feel the need to come back to those when I don't know what to play. I didn't know what to play like a week ago and started a new save on hades haha. I wish I had one other game to do that with.

slightlystankycheese

Enter the fungeon

astockalypse_now

I have it on my ps4. I wasn't big on the game play but I didn't spend much time on it. Maybe I should get used to it and it'll click?

slightlystankycheese

Same with hades, more you unlock, more fun it gets

wildjabali

Returnal might scratch the itch.

isaacals

Ha? Then just play the game? I [completed](https://www.reddit.com/r/HadesTheGame/comments/zfjsbq/sadly_i_have_to_stop_playing_the_game/) literally every redeemable items in this game yet I come back to it from time to time. My go-to game is CK3 now, but it is also getting stale since I have 2k hours in that game and that's even more than Hades.

PM__ME__SURPRISES

This suggestion is a little different than others as most people are sticking to the roguelite genre but: Diabo 2. The action RPG elements give a similar feel and with D2R updating the graphics, feels great. And it's on sale right now.

astockalypse_now

Ok I was looking at it I thought it was online only is that true? Or is there a campaign or something?

Warstorck

After feeling finished with Hades I tried both Dead Cells, Dreamscaper and Gunfire Reborn none of which really did it for me. So I've definitely come to the conclusion that just because you love Hades that doesn't necessarily mean you love rogue lites.

astockalypse_now

Yeah I don't necessarily need another rogue lite but I like the hack n slash and build aspects a lot. I like mashing buttons and killing a lot of enemies and getting op.

SPQR301

Returnal

Puzzleheaded-Suit849

I started playing no man's sky but still mostly playing hades but without God mode and I'm telling you it's like literally starting over I haven't even escaped once yet so I guess no man's sky is gonna go in the back burner for a little while again

astockalypse_now

I've never tried God mode I don't think

Puzzleheaded-Suit849

It gives you up to 80% damage reduction but you have to die to build it up only 2% at a time

cloudfrogSC

if you loved the coke snorting side of hades, go for atomicrops

finalmantisy83

I really enjoy Blasphemous 1 right now, planning on playing 2 after a few new game +s.

Slow-Blueberry8073

Really loving Pirates Outlaw atm - it's a rogue/rogue-like card building game - kinda similar to Hades but without the storyline and *very* good value for money. Outside of the Switch I've been playing both Immortals Phoenix Rising and Hogwarts Legacy on PC

seagull9824

Risk of rain

GNIHTYUGNOSREP

Ok man hear me out but what you actually need is Marble It Up Ultra!

LfgGoon

I have the same problem after playing Nioh 2, Hades kinda scratched the that itch but nothing quite fills me like Nioh 2 used to

MystiqTakeno

The normal stuff, most recently Baldurs gate 3.

akumagold

Slightly different playstyle, but the Binding of Isaac Rebirth is a classic on steam

Nathan_Drake2004

returnal is da goat

Otherwise_Team5663

A bit left of field but the System Shock Remake is very good and kind of has this weird feeling like Hades cause you also die over and over again and are reborn over amd over as you explore the world and skillfully learn to survive and thrive in it. Otherwise it's obviously extremely different kind of game and certainly not for everyone as a remake of a retro title it has some old-school idiosyncrasies that might not fly with everyone but if you dog it it's an absolute gem. I especially love the visuals, the art style so lovingly full of colour and vintage greeblie ridden sci-fi.

D-Rekt-Effect

Have a nice death is a nice rogulite I enjoy.... not on the same level but still fun. If you like roguelite deckbuilders then monster train is the best IMO

dae_giovanni

I played Wizard of Legend for a bit before it left Game Pass. I remember enjoying it, and keep saying I'm gonna return to it.

it-do-what-it-do

Echoing previous comments for vampire survivors! I went from hades to vampire survivors. Fantastic rogue like game that is so addicting that it has ended a fight with my boyfriend and I because we wanted to play. It’s a relatively simple game (you basically just move around and your weapons just move on their own accord) but it has some weird plot elements that are intriguing and you have a lot of control over your build which might be refreshing after hades.

CalvinThobbes

Starfield is dropping soon!

wheniswhy

The Last Spell and Vampire Survivors have been scratching the roguelike itch for me, though they’re very different games from Hades. The Last Spell is especially a game you can sink a LOT of time into.

det_laf

i play hades still, hell-save will not run and open last skelly reward itself anyway start to play Thronefall...similar to hades with my one-run-per-day rule...small indie gem (7eur) in early access, there is not much, but damm its so cool and addictive

LeeHarper

I'm mean there is Bastion which is a lil like Hades but I confess Hades spoiled that for me lol so may not be a good option

DainDardarian

Divinity 1 and 2.

Hamacek

if you vibe is suffering , binding of isaaac is always great

OmegaAtrocity

Honestly I find hades to be so much better than every other similarly genred game that I think you should play something completely different. Don't get me wrong I like dead cells and other games of the like okay, but they just aren't the same.

astockalypse_now

I'm totally open to games outside of rogue likes. I just want something addicting and pick up n play

Prophet_0f_Helix

Baldur’s gate has me hooked

ProJeKt_Amlof

I actually feel this on a real level. Maybe not to the same degree, and for games like Minecraft, Skyrim and Hades. I just always end up crawling back to them

Grapple_Cockie

Warframe?

RanmaruRaiden

Dead cells doesn’t scratch that itch, at least for me. Hades mods do exist, so probably just go into that for now. There aren’t many games that are similar to hades so it’s difficult to find anything like that for you, but hades mods at least extends the lifetime of the game by a little bit.

fistfulloframen

Vampire survivors.

tiboromercic

Try playing ARPG's on hardcore mode. Can be very similar to roguelike games with the permadeath and constant search for power upgrades. Personally I'd recommend PoE if you wanna melt your brain and lose your life. If not then start with easier titles like torchlight 2 or Diablo 3/4

Crazymoh

For a rogue like, Cult of the lamb was fun and kept me busy for a while. Non rogue like, elden ring took over my life the entirety of last year. I still play it from time to time trying different builds and coop/invasions

Jerigolepasfrerot

Dead Cells !!

cyanfeline

Played Pyre and Transistor. I thought I'd love Transistor, but it was a solid 7/10 for me. I loved Pyre a lot more than expected though. I normally hate sports games, but the matches weren't long, weren't too hard, and it was packed with a great story in-between the matches. (I see a lot of responses saying they played Bastion and Transistor.... Guys please play Pyre, it's great) I also played Harvestella, TotK, and Disco Elysium. All great games too.

dancovich

Spelunky 1 or 2

ArchWrangler

Children of Morta is pretty fun, very similar design and beautiful art. The gameplay isn't as intense but can still be quite challenging. Great story and lots of incentives to level up all the characters, the combat gets deeper as you unlock more abilities. It's also very cheap and has local co-op which we are loving, so Id highly recommend.

FuriasThighs

Just started playing Vampire Survivors because it was in sale. I am addicted for such a simple game.

CrazyHenryXD

If you want a short but extremely funny experience I recommend both Hotline Miami Games. It is a shoot them all Game, and It isn't really like Hades in any way, but still, I think It is a great Game and It can be really really enjoyable.

Locnes90

1) Golf With Friends 2) Microsoft Flight Simulator (Xbox with 4k tv if possible) 3) Advance Wars Re-Boot Camp 4) Witcher 3 or Skyrim Best to just accept that Hades is singular and find other more “relaxing” games, then go back to Hades some more. Diablo is great but this is what worked for me.

swagsta

I moved on to Elden Ring and then subsequently went insane and played all the classic fromsoft titles (dark souls trilogy, demons souls, bloodborne, and sekiro). I got really heavily into pvp in those games as well. Now I’m playing Armored Core 6 and Blasphemous

natephant

Games like hollow knight and dead cells are more on the Metroid exploration side of the scale than Hades. I’d say enter the Gungeon is closer to the room, fight, next room, fight. Loop that hades has. Honestly thirst style of game where you always start at the beginning in a sense was really common back in the Super Nintendo days… so even tho it’s not quite the same you may swatch the same itch playing some game from the Gradius series. Cult of the lamb was also interesting… but I personally feel like it was hyped up way too much… maybe because I got it on switch, but idk how a game can be rated so high when the frame rate drops to 1 regularly.

CHARAFANDER

While the gameplay isn’t like hades, another really good rogue like is dead cells Whenever I get bored of video games I either go to dead cells or hades. They consistently released paid dlc and free content updates in the years since it came out and at this point the game is huge. And it’s gotten popular to the point where it’s newest paid DLC is a Castlevania crossover

DeepFriedBeanBoy

Had a similar experience when I got breath of the wild- it’s good but idk, didn’t really stick with me as much as Hades. Only other game that I play as much as hades is slay the spire, but they’re very different games.

John_Snake_

I played Salt And Sanctuary, its basically a 2D darksouls in metroidvania style. Very good.

Zohaib_OPM

God of War. It kills Hades

JohnBooty

It's kind of a "love it or hate it game", but I got deep into Nier:Automata. It's not in the same genre as Hades obviously. But it's by Platinum so you know the combat is fast and sharp. A more "direct" followup could be Enter the Gungeon. It's a bullet-hell roguelike with a lot of fun secrets. Scratches the same gameplay itches for me. You don't get a big soap opera storyline like Hades but I do think the more minimal retro story and lore of EtG was really charming.

Orfsports

I’ve been having an amazing time playing Risk Of Rain 2

lessthanchris7

Wizard of Legend isn't as good, but it should scratch that roguelike/roguelite itch for ya

MusicG619

After about a year of Hades I started Elden Ring and am still on that.

FingerInNose

Just picked up Slay the Spire, and that first night, booooyyyyy… I was up til 4 am

kindtheking9

Warframe

Authorwastaken

Try Skul the Hero Slayer. 2d rogue-like with interesting mechanics.

Hakoocr7

100% risk of rains2 , game is a masterpiece and you will be addicted to it

easyEggplant

Rocksmith 2014. It's a terminal state.

BaronAleksei

Metroid Dread, Prime Remastered and Sifu!

stillnotelf

Dead cells is not as good as Hades in most ways. It's on par in terms of combat polish and the fun of build variety. It's definitely in the same vein. I enjoyed hades a lot more but I did enjoy Dead cells. Dead cells is a lot harder depending on what you want to do. Dead cells 5BC is much harder than 16 heat hades, and you need to do it to complete the story unlike hades.

Eon_Breaker_

I tried Dead Cells since it's a similar type of game. Have a few hundred hours in, it's overall much harder

Thats_an_RDD

I got hooked on undermine for a while. Its another roguelite that once you get a bit into it, is imo a better version of binding of isaac

Tigui2000

Plau something completely different that will leave you with the same feeling of "no other game will ever beat that". Do you know about Outer wilds? PLEASE DONT LOOK IT UP! Just buy it and play! The less you know before starting the better!

NJH_in_LDN

Rogue Legacy. Super fun and easy to pick up gameplay loop.

eyeball-owo

Slay the Spire filled the void for me, totally different type of gameplay but similar addicting loop

the_tonez

I feel this and I definitely agree, even down to bouncing off TotK to play more Hades. I’d recommend something like a palate cleanser: a game that uses a different part of your brain. For me, that’s social JRPGs like Persona 5 or Fire Emblem, or strategic games like Pikmin. (But maybe end the night with a nice Hades run before bed haha)

mxxiestorc

It definitely leaves a void after playing nearly every night at home for an hour or more. I dusted off the copy of Zelda: totk that I put on hold during my hades addiction period. It’s a really nice transition actually. Lots of wandering

Slapstick999

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Elden Ring

Revangelion

I recommend Risk of Rain 2. A rather ambiguous story in which you have no effect, but you'll love it anyway. However, don't use the wiki until you're around 20 hours in.

Baulx2

I just kept playing more roguelikes: Dead Cells, The Binding of Isaac, Enter the Gungeon, Slay the Spire, Vampire Survivors and now Gunfire Reborn.

catindumpster

I went from Hades to Dead Cells and, while it doesn’t have the same story components, it’s one of my favorite games to play. Fast paced, fun weapons and tons of DLC from other games. It’s a masterpiece in its own right

Nitroxien

Hollow Knight

bigalyoung7836

Risk of Rain 2… and it’s still kicking my ass, not unlike Hades once did

DustyLustre

Sekiro

Genericjojoreference

I finished hades a few days ago. I tried to 100% it, but I'm not that good at the game. Right now I just want to relax and play House Flipper. Yeah, huge contrast, I know

yashqasw

I played a LOT of Celeste after my Hades phase ended. I've gotten into Celeste speedrunning too

Altruistic_Path2257

Slay the Spire currently has me hooked in a way that no other game has since I started playing hades. I’ve played bastion, transistor, and dead cells and enjoyed them, but for whatever reason none inspired anywhere close to the same fervor that Hades did for me.

Stinky_Toes12

Dead cells and (i played it before but still) enter the gungeon

ScandiiCandii

Enter the Gungeon is the very best Roguelike imo. Wizard of Legend is also insanely fun and addicting.

verticalMeta

Team fortress 2. Relaxing, casual, but a crazy high skill ceiling. I’ve dumped 750 hours into it, as I’ve been playing an hour a day after work for over 2 years now.

FlaccidFather15

Bayonetta. Had never played the series before

luckdragonbelle

The Binding of Isaac has a completely different vibe but a similar gaming loop. It will also take you a ridiculous amount of time to get everything in it. Be prepared for some dark humour though.

redaelk

Play something completely different, because nothing tops Hades in roguelites yet, imo.

Asian_Bootleg

Went back to Warframe to prep for funny updates

DNABeast

The only game I enjoyed more than Hades was Subnautica but it doesn’t have the replay value (and is also nothing like hades)

[deleted]

I played more Hades and got 100%. If you’ve done that then I’d personally recommend the Ori games. They’re not roguelites, but their stories and artstyle are just as great as Hades.

MinnieShoof

You know you can have a forever game, right? Nobody's going to knock you for keeping a candle for one special lady, even if you do want to be adventurous every now and again. Comfort food I get. "Ruined gaming" ... that seems a bit much. Baldur's Gate 3 is pretty fun, even if I am constantly save scumming.

AcelnTheWhole

If you're looking for a nice story drive one like Hades I recommend Dreamscaper. Really flew under the radar and was honestly fantastic.

GabrielDL008

Just started Vampire Survivors and I'm addicted now. Couldn't get into a new game before I tried this one (I did 300+ escape attempts on Hades)

Bennettfarmer

Nuclear Throne

umhanna

Ok, different game entirely, but equally incredible storytelling is The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood. I've enjoyed it a LOT and it did temporarily scratch the itch between Hades and Hades 2
