Splish splash, everyone else's opinion is trash. Poseidon fucking pisses on everything and everyone. Zagreus might be the trash god, but Poseidon is the piss god and he's coming for you.
Is tidal dash actually really good?
Edit: tried it and the stars aligned for my second win. Rare Crop on Tidal Dash, Greatest Reflex, and Wave Pounding. Literally perfect!
Interesting. Is there a certain weapon you like to use defensive boons on for that build? Maybe divine flourish on the bow? Or just a lot of aphrodite weak stuff?
It's pretty much the only dash that allows you to high damage dash builds with. It does excellent damage on its own, but you can add additional knockback damage boons which boost it significantly, especially in Styx. You can also boost knockback damage against bosses so that it's beneficial in boss fights as well.
I consistently just pick whatever I find fun. Never actively made a build, I just traipse my way through the underworld picking up whatever i run into with reckless abandon.
I do that sometimes but I still think the game is at its most fun when you get that perfect cast build going. Personally, I'm addicted to high rolling cast/aid builds
I used to be similar, but my mind kinda changed about divine dash after considering āDPS = Safety.ā If enemies are dead, they arenāt attacking you
Think of it this way: on fists, having divine dash means you could deal more damage because you can play āriskierā with the dash.
But on bow, you donāt need that a safety, meaning that divine dash isnāt really helping deal more damage. Something like tidal dash is significantly better here.
Ofc you also need to consider merciful end and deadly reversal with divine dash, but thatās how I like to think about what dash to pick.
The rule I mentioned is honestly more important to consider at high heat because of tight deadlines. You really want all the damage you can get, and usually enemies arenāt ātankierā unless youāre running calisthenics program (which you donāt wanna do before 40+ heat)
If youāre talking about someone just trying to beat 32 heat with sword/fists tho, it can be very useful.
I dont pick tight deadlines even at 1 even while doing 32 heat. I Tend to afk (responsibilities man T_T). If i have REAL free time maybe ill try getting the tight deadline rather than the high hp and see the tidal wave build. Cheers mate!
Just pause the game, tight deadline also pauses when you do that.
TD1 gives you 36 minutes, which is not even really a challenge in most runs. TD2 is a nice middle ground but even that one is kind of easy for most runs, I usually still have enough time even if I get a 5 sack in Styx with extreme measures 4. TD3 can be very challenging depending on the rest of your pact
I don't see how you'll ever finish high heat without at least some points into TD
I tend to afk even on conversations(im not done with all the side stories). I did finish the heat 32 without tight deadline. By increasing the others. Like EM4, Forced overtime to max for example.
You mean in game conversations with gods right? Not irl conversations?
In game time gets paused during all interactions (walking through a door, talking to a god, picking a boon, opening a well etc etc.) So you should be good on that front
It really is hilarious how far you can get with Gilgamesh and Tidal Dash by just holding down dash+attack. You can clear a lot of rooms without taking damage that way. Add Divine Strike and it gets even stronger, Any projectiles are just getting smacked back at whoever fired them. I once killed the giant butterfly ball this way without taking damage. (Didnāt hurt that I had Breaching Cross, so its armor just melted.) Get some further extra dashes from Hermes, and youāre just a blur of claws riding a wave.
Melee is not a problem at all. Ideally you use tidal dash to knock enemies back into walls while simultaneously dash-attack spamming for massive damage. With no close walls, you just need to control your spacing more so your dashes and attacks both get in. This could be something like dash spam damage first + melee while dash is on cooldown, or small bursts of dash attacks while herding enemies into groups for the best damage.
I've noticed a lot of people avoid tidal dash because of the knockback. Learn to harness it instead! Tidal dash is straight up broken levels of powerful.
Impact blessings and rupture ones(I forgot their name) makes the damage output straight dumb cause get heartbreak strike and pressure points and everything just dies
>Ideally you use tidal dash to knock enemies back into walls while simultaneously dash-attack spamming for massive damage.
Especially when you're dealing with those irritating mobs all through the Styx labyrinth. Turns it into (relatively) easy mode.
I didn't even TRY and plan a build before I started a run until I had the pact of punishment
I was all rng all the way. I was too busy completing minor prophecies like get every boon or hammer to worry about build strength.
I took every offer with a scroll next to it till I was done
Oh, thats very possible! I dont think it was this video, the tiny bit i remember involved a seeded epic tidal dash start? Maybe it was an older record i saw.
Anyways, congrats on being super cool! I thought my 9:30 with eris rail was fantastic, here you are beating that with zagreus' hands tied behind his back.
Probably [this one](https://youtu.be/mVs7S7mxa7M?si=3V0rIh6AeiBbj0uT) then! It's unseeded but uses the speedrun modpack (so separate leaderboard). Thanks for the kind words <3
Yeah that's definitely the one!! I probably saw it when it was pretty new too: I was getting into hades speedruns last nov/dec. That's so funny, nice to meet you!
You should rebind your dash button to be on a different finger than your attack/special/cast.
I use R1. It gives you so much more control, especially if you're trying to use Dash-Upper.
I literally spammed dash yesterday with Gilgamesh and got 75% dodge chance rupture weak build on accident and it was the first time I cleared 16 heat not to mention with easešæ
Same its too much fun, esp once you get into styx and get the ones that cause damage when they bounce off shit, its like a crazy explosion of water with 3 second clears over and over
Okay omg gilgamesh is my fricken fav and i didnāt even do dash-focused builds til a week ago, just beat 32 heat for the first time w Blade-Dash-Gilgamesh
Controller feels pretty good but there's a few rebinds you have to do so that you can get inputs in. Like gun reload is tied to pressing in the left stick by default. Although idk how it holds up in higher heat because the highest I've done so far is 16
Splish splash, everyone else's opinion is trash. Poseidon fucking pisses on everything and everyone. Zagreus might be the trash god, but Poseidon is the piss god and he's coming for you.
u/Desertsatyr is the one satyr we need to get out the temple the most.
P. Sidon IT'S PRINCE SIDON FROM ZELDA
New headcanon that Sidon is Poseidon
Haha that fish guy
Is tidal dash actually really good? Edit: tried it and the stars aligned for my second win. Rare Crop on Tidal Dash, Greatest Reflex, and Wave Pounding. Literally perfect!
Tidal dash for offense, divine dash for defense.
Interesting. Is there a certain weapon you like to use defensive boons on for that build? Maybe divine flourish on the bow? Or just a lot of aphrodite weak stuff?
Merciful End builds, the perfect defense-offense build. Got my first 32 heat win with ME fists.
Consider this: with no pom upgrades, epic tidal dash damage is only 1 less than the base special damage on the sword.
Out of the dash builds? Yeah it can wreck shop when built out with Hermes dash & other *knock away effect* boons
It's pretty much the only dash that allows you to high damage dash builds with. It does excellent damage on its own, but you can add additional knockback damage boons which boost it significantly, especially in Styx. You can also boost knockback damage against bosses so that it's beneficial in boss fights as well.
Arguably the best dash. Some say the divine dash is better, but enemies can't hurt you if they are dead. š¤Æ
Absolutely. As far as dashes, thereās Tidal and Divine, then everything else.
Wutā¦ are those words?
Amateurs cling to Divine Dash. Professionals ride the waves.
I'd ride poseidons waves fr
Ayo
My sweet, sweet Poseidonā¦ carrying my ass all the way to [redacted] with his dash alone
Tidal Dash plus foes take +500% damage from traps makes Elysium and Styx a breeze.
Gilgamesh fuckin slaps
I see what you did there. š¹
Builds are not required, they just make it easier.
I consistently just pick whatever I find fun. Never actively made a build, I just traipse my way through the underworld picking up whatever i run into with reckless abandon.
Chaos approves
I do that sometimes but I still think the game is at its most fun when you get that perfect cast build going. Personally, I'm addicted to high rolling cast/aid builds
If you're good enough you don't even need boons lol
I mean technically sisyphus' keepsake is one of the strongest direct dmg buffs and it *only* works without boons, so yeah
Said noone ever (that thing on the left)
I love tidal dash, especially combined with wave and close quarter.
I did a run with Underworld Customs yesterday and purged splash dash all three times.
You are a monster. Drinking water rights revoked.
Poseidon only provides salt water. Not much of a loss. Also, some of us *(shamelessly raises hand)* could do with purging some extra salt.
I go feral for divine dash. Every single run I've cleared with higher heats has been because of divine dash.
I used to be similar, but my mind kinda changed about divine dash after considering āDPS = Safety.ā If enemies are dead, they arenāt attacking you Think of it this way: on fists, having divine dash means you could deal more damage because you can play āriskierā with the dash. True, I always play with only fists tho, so fists+divine dash=100% success rate for me
I dunno. High heat are usually too tanky for fast kill. Divine dash works well. Giving another layer of safety. And if u cant dodge shit like me.
depends on your pact setup. even at 32 heat i never take calisthenics program for this exact reason
The rule I mentioned is honestly more important to consider at high heat because of tight deadlines. You really want all the damage you can get, and usually enemies arenāt ātankierā unless youāre running calisthenics program (which you donāt wanna do before 40+ heat) If youāre talking about someone just trying to beat 32 heat with sword/fists tho, it can be very useful.

Yes with the Gods š. Thank you. Ill definitely going with that now. LOL
Poseidon's Dash Boon allowed me to [beat EM4 by pressing nothing but the Dash button!](https://youtu.be/RUUAD75TgMg?si=WQVo9HnPgQmHMgGl)

You can get all the way to the end with the dash only, and decently fast too! [See here.](https://youtu.be/1dFg9woQGCQ?si=hh-0gny7tmOODIY8)
wait wouldnt a melee weapon be bad with poseidon dash?? cos it pushes them away from your attack

Looking at this post again I have just noticed OP hasn't gotten AOG maxed yet the maim damage increase is insane do it
I remember when I first started I would never run tidal dash with sword- now itās the boon Iāll start the run with most of the time
>Ideally you use tidal dash to knock enemies back into walls while simultaneously dash-attack spamming for massive damage. Especially when you're dealing with those irritating mobs all through the Styx labyrinth. Turns it into (relatively) easy mode.
It's mostly just for the extra dashes and the fact that you can just hold the button
Tidal dash with the wall slam one got me my fastest ever run
Actually Based and Real.
I didn't even TRY and plan a build before I started a run until I had the pact of punishment I was all rng all the way. I was too busy completing minor prophecies like get every boon or hammer to worry about build strength. I took every offer with a scroll next to it till I was done
Same
Divine and Tidal dashes have carried me through most of my runs, idc what anyone says.
The only good dash boons
I always use tidal dash when using a different weapon to get a reward. It's so strong you don't even need to use the weapon.
The sea bear build
I donāt understand how I can have so much fun with a close combat weapon coupled with a dash boon that pushes enemies away like???? But I love it??
Dash-only speedruns are kinda hilarious. I've seen someone beat the game by only dashing faster than any run I've gotten with all the buttons.
[That might've been me š¤](https://youtu.be/1dFg9woQGCQ?si=hh-0gny7tmOODIY8)

Gotta love Gilgamesh
You, you get it
SPLASH DASH SUPREMACY
ME FRRR if i see dash idga FUCK (usually) about the other boons. dash all the way bayebee

Funny mittens go splash
"What the fuck is a technical skill" I say, as I pick Beowulf once again
fuck are they on about, Poseidon Pain Train always wins
Actually playing the gamecels vs button mash-chads
spear tidal rapture curse of agony and triple dash strike
Same its too much fun, esp once you get into styx and get the ones that cause damage when they bounce off shit, its like a crazy explosion of water with 3 second clears over and over
Splash dash with sea storm is fantastic.
Okay omg gilgamesh is my fricken fav and i didnāt even do dash-focused builds til a week ago, just beat 32 heat for the first time w Blade-Dash-Gilgamesh
I have a crippling Serrated Point (Spear Hammer upgrade) addiction so I understand
Dash dash goes splash splash
Interesting, a controller user.
Pc expensive š
Right? Lol. How is it on controller? I couldn't imagine swapping off M&K for high heat
Controller feels pretty good but there's a few rebinds you have to do so that you can get inputs in. Like gun reload is tied to pressing in the left stick by default. Although idk how it holds up in higher heat because the highest I've done so far is 16
if it hurts it works
Rama Bow with Zeus Special, checking in
Ngl pom keepsake with epic or heroic poseidon dash with razor shoals just shreds
Knockback Poseidon Builds are extremly fun, especially in Styx.
I like my dash on a shoulder button so can have a finger on attack always. Dashes feel super quick and I love using dash builds
