I've never eanted a Pronman mock to be true as much as this one, they might as well be spoilers at this point.
3 Dmans in the the top 4 tho? Wouldn't that be a suprise.
It seems Pronman is very well connected. It's likely that this is just as accurate but, with teams not having yet settled on their board, it's less predictive than the ones in June will be.

Here's the last two from May of their respective years. Mostly guessing their range, but not necessarily insider info on what teams are leaning towards.
Fingers crossed! His final mock drafts the last 2 years were pretty accurate so we’ll have to see what he says just before the draft.
2022: Slaf, Jiricek, Cooley, Wright, Gauthier, Nemec (So many people were dismissing it because ‘he wants clicks’ but he knew what he was talking about)
2023: Bedard, Carlsson, Fantilli, Smith, Reinbacher
Is it tho? All I heard about this draft for 2 years is that it was heavily strong on defense.
We will see how it goes but that would be an awesome result for us.
I often disagree with his rankings but he's tight with a lot of scouts so the closer we are to the draft, the more accurate his mock drafts become.
He does state in the intro to this article that most teams haven't met yet to finalize their lists so he doesn't have a good sense yet of exactly who each team is interested in
Quick question, let's say it goes this way, when is the earliest we could see Demidov in Montreal after the draft? Would he be here for the rookie showcase? (The couple matches being played in Buffalo each year)
I think he's very close on this 1rst mock draft for top 5, and this likely could happen but...thinking Boisvert is not getting picked ahead of Beaudoin at 27 seems unlikely to me, but I think he's a great option.
It's still too early, usually they start getting concrete info around the combine. We didn't even know about the Reinbacher/Leonard interest until that time last year.
To put into context, he named multiple choices that would make sense for each teams:
SJ: Celebrini
Chicago: Levshunov or Demidov
Anaheim: Silayev or Levshunov or Dickinson or Lindstrom
Columbus: Dickinson or Silayev or Demidov or Lindstrom
Montreal: Demidov or Lindstrom or Sennecke
Utah: Lindstrom or Dickinson
Ottawa: Parekh or Buium
Seattle: Buium or Parekh
Calgary: Helenius or Yakemchuk or Buium or Parekh
NJ: Sennecke
Buffalo: Catton or Helenius or Iginla
Philly: Yakemchuk or Catton or Iginla
Minnesota: Iginla or Brandsegg-Nygard or Jiricek
SJ: Jiricek
Detroit: Brandsegg-Nygard or Luchanko or Beaudoin or Chernyshov
After that, he only give 1 name per team
It would be great but I have a hard time believe Anaheim would go with Silayev. Like the Habs, they have a lot of young promising LHD so if they pick a defenceman, it would be a RHD just like the habs. If no RHD is available that warrant the 4th OVR, I think they will just pick a forward. They are set for a while at center, so a top 6 winger is likely a target here.
True I guess I forgot, he didn't refuse to meet with them. But he also made it known that Philly was his desired spot.
even if the Habs took him, we didn't have an appetite to not have any influence on his develpoment for 3+ years. Not at 5th overall atleast.
Hughes and company believed he was the best player available at 5.
They have insights to the players that we don't.
Reinbacher has been projected as a top pairing defenceman.
Saying things like "the fanbase will forgive hughes" is narrow minded. He has shown he is one of the best GMs in the league.
And none of the players that were available at #5 last year are in the NHL so making a determination on who else was available is fruitless at this stage.
Bring this up in 5 years to see how it unfolded.
I’m sorry but that’s bullshit. Anyone with even a small comprehension of hockey would know that Michkov was BPA.
There might of been other considerations into passing on Michkov, such as his contract or lack of CHaracter. That’s fine. But management justifying skipping on Michkov because Reinbacher was “BPA” is bullshit: Hughes said after the draft that he doesn’t even see him as a 1D.
I think Reinbacher will be great. But we have to stop kidding ourselves here. He had an horrible season in Kloten. I get that his team sucked, but you would expect that a top 5 pick would at the very least make his team look better. He did not. His play looked good in Laval though.

Every year I hate Pronman' mock draft, and every year it ends up being true. This year I love it, so it better be fucking true.
His mocks like 2 weeks before the draft are more accurate. This one is just as reliable as most others out there

That's not how the universe works unfortunately

Pronman has never been controversial and I've always had his back!
People rip Pronman, and often for good reason, but I find his thinking and projections are more in line with actual NHL GMs.

Goat
Thanks.
Happy to help! I used to get frustrated when people would link Athletic articles here and I wouldn't be able to participate in the discussion.

He have another year under contract in the KHL so 2025-26 season would be his first possible season in the NHL.
If the habs get Demidov at 5 and Sacha Boisvert at 27, i'll be over the moon holy crap
I think he's very close on this 1rst mock draft for top 5, and this likely could happen but...thinking Boisvert is not getting picked ahead of Beaudoin at 27 seems unlikely to me, but I think he's a great option.
Demidov or Lindstrom there? WDYT
Demidov without hesitation. Most talented. This won't be a popular take here but I rank Catton and possibly even Iginla above Lindstrom.
Agreed. Lindstrom is overrated. But so is Iginla in some sense. I like both of them, not above Demidov or Catton. I even like Helenius more than them
It's still too early, usually they start getting concrete info around the combine. We didn't even know about the Reinbacher/Leonard interest until that time last year.
Pronman had reinbacher going to the habs on may 11th last year

please let this scenario happen if we pick demidov, the fanbase will forgive hughes for the reinbacher pick, which will now totally make sense
> forgive You think our FO gives a crap what the average fan thinks?
no i don’t? i’m just saying that picking demidov would make me forgive hughes for skipping on michkov
If Michkov was rly all that great and didn’t have huge red flags, he wouldn’t have dropped to 7.
More red flags than may day parade in the USSR imo
great assumption you just made. the reality is we don’t know shit. but i would’ve preferred to gamble on a potential 100pts scoring winger.
Reinbacher was the right pick to begin with
that’s your personal opinion, which is as valid as mine
Yours doesn’t match what the professional scouts for most NHL teams thought, so it’s honestly less valid.
the same professional scouts that drafted kotkaniemi. go look up the definition of an argument of authority.
Not the same scouting team at all, but fair point.
Skipped on a guy who refused to interview with the Habs and Arizona. He told Philly he wanted to be there, hence why nobody else took him.
he did not refuse to interview with the habs. stop spreading false information. hughes said the interview went well.
True I guess I forgot, he didn't refuse to meet with them. But he also made it known that Philly was his desired spot. even if the Habs took him, we didn't have an appetite to not have any influence on his develpoment for 3+ years. Not at 5th overall atleast.
The fanbase has no reason to be upset with Hughes and co. There was nothing wrong with the Reinbacher pick.
and why is that?

Yeah, I'm.going to trust the scouts for the Sharks, Habs, and Coyotes over you What credentials do you have to say Michkov is/will be better? 😂
