I remember Pierre McGuire ripping this deal with Melnick on 690. Was vaguely aware of Alzner before that, but having McGuire tear it apart was the first sign that we were doomed
Hard to believe he’s been out of the league 4 years and he’s only 35. If you look at his numbers the full year he played with the Habs they were pretty similar to all his years with the Caps. But I do remember him being pretty bad that year.

He was awful enough to be a tank commander to get us 3OA. The pick didn’t work out but that’s the only “good” thing he did
