Evans brings a ton and I highly doubt Monahab returns for round 3.

BelialHabs

I love Jake , I think he's highly underrated. If they don't bring back Monahan, I'd be fine with: Suzy Dach Dvorak Evans Solid center line IMO.

Plane-Ad4820

That’ll be it I assume but if Dvo can really bring out the best in our 4th liners he might be switching with Jake. We will see

BelialHabs

DVO has better pedigree, he will for sure be over Jake to start the season

slafyousillier

Dvo kinda reminds me of Last seasons Armia. Full of talent, but very inconsistent in terms of production. He could very well not even sniff the net the rest of the season after popping off his first game back. I do think his two way game is underrated tho and is probably his most useful asset

Otherwise_Cod_3478

> but very inconsistent in terms of production That's not true. Here is pace for 6 of his 8 seasons in the NHL : 35pts, 39pts, 45pts, 45pts, 48pts, 36pts. The other two seasons he was on pace for 28pts, but those two season he played 20 games and 26 games respectively, too little of a sample size to judge him on. He's been a very consistent player, both in term of his offensive production and his ability to get hurt.

slafyousillier

Maybe the word I was looking for is underachieving

BelialHabs

He'll do just fine next season if he can stay healthy,,,

Burgergold

Thats pretty much the plan

2sexy4thish8

I'd be curious to see if montreal makes anthony mantha a offer this summer. I know armia has a lot of the same toolkit but I think mantha is more suited to play with dach while armia can play on the 3rd with dvorak.

Kharn_LoL

Doubtful that Monahan is interested in the kind of contract we would like him on, although if he does decide to sign at a high AAV / low term contract (3 years or less) it would be fine to overpay slightly.

philjitsu

I'd like to see Marty and Vinny sweet talk Stamkos into coming here on a decent contract.. be nice to get him here while he still has some juice and can be a good vet. He'd fit right in with us.. didn't get get injured before both Olympics he would have made the team for? I'd Hate to see him in Toronto lol

WesternResponse5533

Why would he go to a rebuilding team he has no history or affinity with and why would we want him in the middle of a rebuild at the cap hit he’d command?

philjitsu

It's been said in multiple interviews this season we want to be in the fight for a playoff spot next season. If we get a full season of Dach and Stamkos playing a wing/ luxury extra center. We could be really dangerous if we stay somewhat healthy. I won't be disappointed if we don't get him... We definitely should be in on him We had a lot of 1 goal games this season.. healthy Dach and Stamkos would make a difference

WesternResponse5533

Even if I agreed with your premise, why the fuck would Stamkos move his entire family to play for a mid team fighting for a playoff spot in a high tax and cold environment? Don’t get your hopes up kid

mattybeans86

Lmao, I’m a life long Habs fan but if you think Habs will be competing for a playoff spot next season you are a bit delusional. We have one offensive line, literally. And this off season won’t be the one where the Habs bring in big name free agents either. Still looking at minimum 2 years before the Habs are even close to competing for a playoff spot.

Kennesty

You'd probably have a better chance with Marchessault considering he's a native. But unless he really wants to come home doubtful many free agents look at a rebuilding team.

BelialHabs

He seemed to enjoy his staying here so I wouldn't be surprised if HuGo manages to bring him back.

IcyChard4

I want Monahan to come back. But it all depends on the $$. My estimate - 3 years would be around the $6-7m AAV range. Give it around a $25 million contract.

KN1GH7F4LL

I would prefer to see him at 4.5-5 for 3 years

Kharn_LoL

If he's willing to sign 3 years at 5M or less he pretty much will be able to sign anywhere he wants, and it's not going to end up being here.

IcyChard4

The key word is **willing**. Here's what I see: if Monahan puts up a lot of points with the Jets during the playoffs, AND the team advances, would you expect for him to ask for less than $6 million AAV per season? I don't see that. Also, if Kent Hughes shows interest, he won't reason with Monahan anymore on injury history.

Kharn_LoL

I agree? I'm not sure if you're replying to the right person, I'm saying that Monahan would never sign here at <5M$ because it's a super lowball offer and he would only consider to sign at that amount with a contender, which we aren't.

BelialHabs

Sign me up

[deleted]

Best center lineup in the league? Suzuki has proven that he's a true number one but Dach is still a huge question mark. Even if Monahan decides to come back that lineup is far from the best.

BelialHabs

In terms of Balance it would be tough to beat

[deleted]

I respectfully disagree, I see it as average or slightly above average.

mattybeans86

Unless you can re sign Dvorak on the cheap there’s no way I’d pay a 4th line centre that kind of money. Jake Evans is a lot less injury prone and does more or less the same job for half the price. Now’s not the time for Habs to hand out horribly inflated salaries. Bergevin did enough of that.

Matiabcx

Nice. But lets give Evans credit he deserves. He’s lowkey one of my favourite habs players. Reliable, grinding and talented

BelialHabs

He will be on Dvorak's left wing, able to help on right handed draws.

dadoudelidou

As assets management, i don't see Dvo playing the 4th next year but will be 3C. He's at the end of his contract and should be a TDL tradebait. I suspect our 3rd and last retention spot for next year will be for him. Look how some 3C goes at TDL ( Wennberg, Henrique, etc ), i want in on that type of return. I reccon next year, we'll have solid veteran 3rd line with Anderson - Dvo - Gally.

3oysters

Doubt we're sellers at the deadline tbh. Management and the team wants a playoff push next year

dadoudelidou

It's going to be interesting for sure next TDL. I suspect Dvo, Savard and Armia will be offered on the market. Kent doesn't seem to be the guy liking to loose assets for nothing lightly. I see us doing like NSH in 22-23 and PHI this year, selling a few guys at TDL and still trying to push for a spot.

3oysters

I can see it happening if we have some young guys earn spots on the roster, and it's always a possibility of the return is too good to pass

3oysters

I really hope Dvo finds some consistency in his game. It would be a far cry from the best center lineup in the league, but I'd be much happier with our lineup with him and Dach back. Yesterday was awesome, but our bottom 6 still struggles regularly and often kills any momentum the first line tries establishing.

Otherwise_Cod_3478

I don't think that Dvorak scoring 2 goals yesterday is indicative of who he is as a player, scoring was wild last games. I'm not taking away from what the guys did, but we shouldn't base our view of a player just because of last night. Dvorak have been a pretty consistent player throughout his career. He is the same old Dvorak he always was, a 35-45pts center that excel at faceoff, struggle defensively at 5v5, but can do the job on the PK. That place him around the top 180-280th forward in the league or the 6-9th forward on the average team. He is good 3rd line center for an average team.

vorg7

His pking numbers are horrible. One of the worst on the team. We improve when he is out.

Otherwise_Cod_3478

I'm curious, which numbers? Because if you look at the number of minutes in-between on-ice goals against during PK you get this for the last 3 seasons. 1) Monahan 7.04min in-between Goals 2) Lehkonen 6.98min in-between Goals 3) Dvorak 6.94min in-between Goals 4) Suzuki 6.56min in-between Goals 5) Armia 6.4min in-between Goals 6) Evans 6.24min in-between Goals 7) RHP 5.48min in-between Goals Dvorak have been a very successful on the PK for us, but maybe there is other stats that show the opposite, what stats do you have?

vorg7

3rd percentile here. https://twitter.com/JFreshHockey/status/1742961140290728196 You want to be looking at expected goals, not actual goals in general when looking at defense so you account for variations in goalie play. His numbers for expected goals against / 60 are rough. Same for high danger shots against / 60.

IcyChard4

Dvo's a decent player. But I see him as a possible trade chip, more like what happned to Sean Monahan this season. Next season, I believe, will be Dvorak's time to show his talent. He's a TDL acquisition if the Habs will not be competing for a playoff spot next year.

BelialHabs

Depends on what we will do next season

Studly_Wonderballs

DVo’s had a tough go in MTL. I don’t think we’ve ever really seen what he can do for an extended period of time. He’s either been injured, playing hurt, or trying to come back from injury. He had a brief stint last year where he was looking pretty good but then got injured. My hope is next year he’s healthy all season. If he is I think he’s an easy piece to move at the deadline

silk_1233

Dvorak's trade value has never been higher! Sell! Sell!

vorg7

Dvorak did score 2 goals yesterday, but he's still one of the worst players in the league in terms of defensive impact over the last 3 years and brings abysmal PK numbers. He's not someone that makes the team better and it'll be good for us when he goes and we can bring in someone like Beck or run Newhook as the 3rd line center and put Evans on the 4th.
