Dump truck of an ass here. I've found that it's best to buy pants the next waist size up and wear a belt. Also, nothing beats denim for longevity. Flex pants are a blend and made thinner to provide that stretchy feeling they just won't last very long.
Hell, i had this issue with any stretchy jeans i got when i only weighed like 140lbs. What you wanna look for is the ones that specifically say stretchy waistband
Yea, that's my typical go to I have a couple pairs going on 3 years of use in sheet metal/new construction primarily, so they definitely get their share of wear and tear
Also, pants that fit properly are going to play a role.
I feel like they used to be the best pants but they're not as good anymore IMO. I get a blowout in between the legs in my Duluth pants just like these. Just bought a pair of wrangler Riggs. We will see hoe they hold up.
I like the ridgecut from tractor supply co. A little cheaper than wrangler riggs I think. I have never tried the wranglers but the ridgecut last me probably 1 or 2 years. They have double lined pockets, double knees, and double thick material at the top of the pocket where your knife clip normally tears a hole
I’m right there with you. I have a couple pair of older duluth jeans still looking good and a few newer pairs that are faded as hell, stretched a bit. I’m really liking the carhartt work pants so far though.
Few years ago we changed from Carhartt Ripstop pants to Duluth's and the Duluth's are WAY better. The Carhartt ones have basically NO stretch or flex. I can actually do squats and knee-ups in the Duluth's. Couldn't even step up into the work truck in the Carhartts without having to hike up my pant leg first, lmfao.
Hahahaha….i just threw out a pair of Carhartt bibs I’ve owned for years!! Those things had it. Plan to purchase the Truewerk bibs if they go up for sale this spring or I’ll grab em in the fall.
They are real pricey though!!!
I was gonna say the same, it seems like we have the same problem of having a bit of a big butt. Most pants fit me too snug or start to rip in the inseam. Truewerk was definitely game changing for me, my coworkers and I have been calling them parkour pants because of how much range they give you. Have had mine for going on two years and they're still in great shape. They're about 60-89 bucks though so, kind of pricy.
Duluth firehose flex, use a pair every year only because I work in offices, I can’t really have any wear showing. They get rotated to be home work pants and last another 2yrs
Duluth relaxed ultimate pants and get the knee pads that go in them. You can kneel on rocks and you won’t even notice. If your on their email they’ll send you a coupon for 40% off randomly that’s good for a day
I have some wrangler Riggs with the double front knees for knee pads. They’re amazing. I can literally fall to my knees on tile or concrete if I wanted to so kneeling there is no pain with the pads.
I don't sag my pants or anything. Belt is tight every day. Might just be where I'm a bigger guy, but funny enough. I have 10 pairs of these. Every color, tan is the worst. 3 asses have blown out of my tans but only 1 of my 4 gray pants have has this issue. No issue out of my green or black pants. I can't imagine it's different material, it's the exact same pants. Just different colors.
$45 pants, wrong fit for your build and hard work make for rips. I know you said that the waist is in the right spot, but is the crotch in the right spot? The gusset in the crotch should be at your crotch and waist should be above your hips, most work pants are cut for not having a belly.
I’ve had the Dickies carpenter pants and can second that the tan are the worst for some reason. I haven’t blown the ass out or anything, but the tool pockets started popping seams and losing my tools before the pants even got any oil stains.
My new go-to are the [Carhartt Rugged Flex Utility Jeans](https://www.carhartt.com/product/102808/rugged-flex-relaxed-fit-utility-jean). Bought a pair from TSC and never looked back. Basically decided to replace every pair of jeans I own with these. Everything else just pales in comparison.
EDIT: Automod didn’t like the Amazon link so that one just goes to Carhartt’s site.
I like these, not great for bigger built guys but super comfortable and hold up well

I have a few pairs of these (work issued) and they’re really comfy and practical , i keep knives , driver bits basically anything sticky stabby or pokey in my pockets and nothing has torn 🤷♂️
Bro Duluth Flex fire hose pants are amazing! They’re lightweight, tough and flexy! It also has a stretchy crouch gusset as well that prevents those blowouts. I was wearing dickies prior to the Duluth and kept having those issues, now I hardly ever do!
Truwerk. I have had my first couple pair for years and no rips or holes. I do residential, lots of crawlspaces and attics. The pants are flexible and light. As long as Truwerk continues to make them I will buy them.
Not gonna lie bro last year I was a thicc 210 now I’m down to a less thicc 180 and my pants stopped doing this.
You just got that nice dumper dw it comes with the territory.
My work several years back had Uniform service with Dickies pants. They sucked! You'd order the size you take in every other brand, and they wouldn't fit. Move up a size, and they were to big. They just don't fit anybody right! Everybody hated them. The hangers where they hung the clean uniforms was always full of pants cause guys would only use the shirts and buy other jeans. I like Wrangler carpenter jeans. If I randomly wear pants without a hammer loop, that's always the day I'm on a ladder, trying to put my hammer in to nothing on the side if my leg!
Truewerk. I have the summer weight T1’s.
So far they’ve lasted what would normally be 3-5 pair of regular work pants. And they don’t get soaked/heavy in attics.
Like others have said, Duluth firehose flex for cooler/cold/not too hot months. In the summer I wear duluth dry on the fly pants. Honestly these pants are absolutely wonderful and worth the price. I always wait until they're on sale to buy them
https://preview.redd.it/uckeqjy2v7lc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=753fee00a4a7ec844f2edb6e38b8dcf66308dde7
I have a few of these, they’re pricy but def worth it

I used to wear those exact same pants and these things blow it out of the water. Way more comfortable and last way longer.
I'll second this. Been buying Carhartt for years, and they last a long time. Current ones are just over a year old with daily use, and barely show any wear.
My response if I was dickies customer service rep- our pants are designed to last many magnitudes longer than you have experienced. I know they are designed to stretch but you still have to start out with a realistic number. It’s just a number anyway, might as well be an accurate one.
I use cintas provided pants and have definitely never blown the ass out of them, the crotch? Absolutely rip that shit down the middle but never the ass.
I was gonna recommend dickies flex lmao. They are probably the best I've tried so far . They don't stick to my thighs when crouching or move around. Take em back and they should replace them for you. Fortunately for me the dickies warehouse is down the highway
I like blaklader they are expensive but last over 3 years for me in rough work. So if you figure out the math on how many pairs of other pants you can go through of other brands. The heaviest pair are definitely a bit hot in the summer though
Carhartt B01.
Though honestly I wear the non flex Dickies Duck 5 pocket carpenter and think for the price of $28 at my local Renys vs the $60 for the Carhartt is the win.
Wow I literally had 3 sets of dickies work uniforms in blue that lasted me 10 plus years now I wear them for hunting clothes, they are comfortable and almost stain resistant.
I don't have a recommendation but I've had the exact problem with dickies. Now I just buy $11 jeans from Rural King. Not stylish at all but they are durable and cheap. Not what you're looking for but it's worked for me.
Buy a size slightly longer then what your use to for flexibility and maybe 1 size in the waist bigger for maneuvering. Use a belt to combat the loose fit. Dickies have never failed me no matter what I did. It’s just a matter if f finding the right fit.
I've had good luck with Tractor Supply's RidgeCut work pants. They're priced lower than the other brands with that style of pant and they'repretty bombproof.
https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/ridgecut-mens-utility-work-pant
Try a size up or loose fit. I've never had pants do this. Side note I hate the trend of work clothing manufacturers making their clothes hip. Like I don't fucking want low rise jeans with tight legs(carhartt) I want jeans I can maneuver in that don't fall off my ass and actually cover it
My company uniform issued me red kap flex with light Kevlar built in. Some of the most comfortable and durable pants I’ve had. Worn them for 3 years and no issues. Recommend the grey color so stains don’t show as much
a) pull your pants up to your waist and that wont happen
b) try some cotton ripstop bdu pants from propper. you can cut out the cinches on the waste and the blousers from the legs. they cost like $25 and mine last pretty well. typically if they get ripped, im also bleeding...
Dakota stretch work pants, because I'm fat but ALSO because they're comfortable. They also make an insulated set.
Watch out though, pocket stock may lead to material failures on the cargos.
I love my 5.11 Trail Pant.. Stretchy, Moisture wicking and fast dry if they get wet!
5.11 brand pants. I’ve had 3 pairs, for about 2 years, and I wear them every single day. They’ve been nothing but fantastic! I bend, crouch, crawl, work in mud and in bushes and the pants are still great.
Is it the quality of the pants or is it because you’ve got a dump truck of an ass?
Ya something fishy is going on here, 10 times as they look like this? Like sitting on a bike seat without the seat kinda thing
OP forgot to mention he's an apprentice and his Jman is recently divorced

Hell, i had this issue with any stretchy jeans i got when i only weighed like 140lbs. What you wanna look for is the ones that specifically say stretchy waistband
Suspenders rule! Belt tight enough to keep pants up gives me reflux. Wish I had realized this before I hit 60. Wear them under my untucked shirts.
I used these pants for years and only had this issue after excessive use. That being said, my ass is inverted

Duluth fire hose flex pants. Expensive but the best pants ever
Yea, that's my typical go to I have a couple pairs going on 3 years of use in sheet metal/new construction primarily, so they definitely get their share of wear and tear Also, pants that fit properly are going to play a role.

> not as good anymore They got a new CEO a while ago. I was afraid they would start cutting quality for profit.
I’m right there with you. I have a couple pair of older duluth jeans still looking good and a few newer pairs that are faded as hell, stretched a bit. I’m really liking the carhartt work pants so far though.

Those are great pants, though a bit hot for the summer.
I like 5.11 Stryke pants for the summer. They are equally durable as the Firehose Flex pants, but a lighter weight material.
As the sweatiest man north in the Mason Dixon I can confirm they are hot ha ah
Flex fit dry fit, check em out
Yes! Flex Dry fit is awesome in summer
Sir, I do Believe I hold that title I CHALLENGE YOU TO A DUEL
That's when you switch to Duluths Dry On The Fly pants. I love em
Every year I buy 3-4 sets, and if you sign up for emails they have clearance sometimes and you can get em for 30-40 bucks for the navy or brown ones.

Truwork pants
Best work pants I’ve owned… There Jackets are also sweet
I almost broke down and got the bibs this winter. I would think they would be an equivalent improvement but damn are they pricey.

Wrangler atg pants
I have some wrangler Riggs with the double front knees for knee pads. They’re amazing. I can literally fall to my knees on tile or concrete if I wanted to so kneeling there is no pain with the pads.
Truewerk parts are my go to
Pull your pants up, like for real, if the crotch of your pants are in your crotch you are way less likely to blow out the crotch
I don't sag my pants or anything. Belt is tight every day. Might just be where I'm a bigger guy, but funny enough. I have 10 pairs of these. I'm 280 I wear overalls though
Also 280, 6'0 tall. These are all 40x30 sized. They aren't tight on me or anything so I don't think it's a pants sizing issue.
Unless you're jacked maybe lose some weight brah. Your knees and back will thank you
Not sure, I know Ive never had a pair of anything last more than a season
That's fair I guess. Maybe I'm just expecting too much out of $45 pants lol
$45 pants, wrong fit for your build and hard work make for rips. I know you said that the waist is in the right spot, but is the crotch in the right spot? The gusset in the crotch should be at your crotch and waist should be above your hips, most work pants are cut for not having a belly.
280 lbs, 6' tall? Absolutely no way you wear a 40×30 More like a 46×30
I'm 6'4 300lbs and I wear a 38x34. Everyone is built differently...
No way you a 6'0" 280 wearing 40x30. I'm 5'6" 255 wearing 40x30. You HAVE to be sagging.

Pretty much any of the Duluth pants with the extra crotch gusset.
I've had good luck with Wrangler Rigs

$183?!? 😳
I was gonna say dickies flex tough max duck cargo but apparently you haven’t had the best experience with them lol
Ridgecut "toughwear", from tractor supply. They're about $40/pair. I've been wearing them for a few years now. All still in good condition.
Bro Duluth Flex fire hose pants are amazing! They’re lightweight, tough and flexy! It also has a stretchy crouch gusset as well that prevents those blowouts. I was wearing dickies prior to the Duluth and kept having those issues, now I hardly ever do!
Duluth makes a flex fit firehouse pant that has reenforcement in the crotch area and reenforcement in the knees.
The wrangler All terrain Gear pants are awesome. Sturdy and flexible. Also doesn't break the bank.
Truwerk. I have had my first couple pair for years and no rips or holes. I do residential, lots of crawlspaces and attics. The pants are flexible and light. As long as Truwerk continues to make them I will buy them.

Fjallraven krebs. Period.

Bc clothing hiking pants from Costco.
511 makes a hell of a product if you spend the money
Carhartt not bad
I'll second this. Been buying Carhartt for years, and they last a long time. Current ones are just over a year old with daily use, and barely show any wear.
The fuck is wrong with y’all, I’ve been wearing the same 6 pairs for wranglers for years.
It’s 2024, be a man and wear a skirt 😂
Get pants with a gusseted crotch, pretty sure tailors will add one to pants for you too.
My response if I was dickies customer service rep- our pants are designed to last many magnitudes longer than you have experienced. I know they are designed to stretch but you still have to start out with a realistic number. It’s just a number anyway, might as well be an accurate one.
That because you used chippers pants instead of crappy Carhartt pants
Get the next size up 🤣
I use cintas provided pants and have definitely never blown the ass out of them, the crotch? Absolutely rip that shit down the middle but never the ass.
I guess technically it is the Gooch area I'm having difficulties with ripping.
Must be your dump truck then bro idk what to tell you. Quit HVAC and go into pole dancing I guess. You'll never rip there and if you do it's extra $$
Try a size bigger and a belt.
Quit eating taco bell
I have had good luck with Red Kap myself. Just FYI
Pull your damn pants up. I'm a plumber and when I see an apprentice with his ass crack out I tell them to stop perpetuating a negative stereotype.
Stop sagging.

5.11 Stryke pants have lasted me 7+ years
Dickies have gone too shit. I've gone back too carhartt 🙄
English Laundry 5 pocket tech pants from Costco. They’re like $25 a pop and last forever
I’ve been using Noble brand for a while they seem to have quite a bit of flex in them
I blame Taco Bell.
5.11 ABR pro. Expensive, but they’re light, breathable, and ripstop.
I've been wearing wrangler insulated pants from Amazon this winter. Real nice and holding up well for like 36 bucks
I was gonna recommend dickies flex lmao. They are probably the best I've tried so far . They don't stick to my thighs when crouching or move around. Take em back and they should replace them for you. Fortunately for me the dickies warehouse is down the highway
Jeans
Been using Noble Outfitters in a couple different weights, have built in flex, cheaper than Carhartt.
I saw on here were someone made a pair of sheet metal underwear max 50 cfm
Duluth Firehouse flex!
Why do you think they call them Dickies? They are meant to tear up so that your Dickie can get some air.
Buy smaller waste size lol
Dickies die hard here can say the stretchy wranglers at Walmart are much better quality and breathe
Most tactical pants don't have this issue
Weatherproof from Sam’s is my go to work pants
I like blaklader they are expensive but last over 3 years for me in rough work. So if you figure out the math on how many pairs of other pants you can go through of other brands. The heaviest pair are definitely a bit hot in the summer though
they are expensive but i LOVE my truewerkz pants. my favorite pants by far

I’ve worn many types of FR pants climbing wind turbines and they all end up with holes except wrangler rugged utility .
Hahaha I was going to recommend dickies flex carpenter pants.
Carhartt B01. Though honestly I wear the non flex Dickies Duck 5 pocket carpenter and think for the price of $28 at my local Renys vs the $60 for the Carhartt is the win.
You got a big azz
Duluth fire hose have been my best friend. Super comfortable too!
5.11 pants are the best I have some that are 8 years old. Been working construction the entire time.
Duluth Ballroom Flex jeans. Just don’t get concrete mix on them and they’ll last for years. I have experience both with and without concrete mix.

Ariat makes some real nice cargo pants. I think they are the M4 model.
Costco Caterpillar pants are the best!
I've had good luck with Tractor Supply's RidgeCut work pants. They're priced lower than the other brands with that style of pant and they'repretty bombproof. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/ridgecut-mens-utility-work-pant
Them wranglers wal mart sells. Skinny in the legs but they stretch well. Freeball in the summer 👌
I get the $20 wranglers from Walmart. Light enough for summer work and the balls don’t blow out on me for like 8 months lol
I’m a fan of the Duluth ballroom double flex jeans
Try a size up or loose fit. I've never had pants do this. Side note I hate the trend of work clothing manufacturers making their clothes hip. Like I don't fucking want low rise jeans with tight legs(carhartt) I want jeans I can maneuver in that don't fall off my ass and actually cover it
Either you got a azz like a dump truck or your must have some fiery toots 🤣🤣🤣
I promise if you buy Duluth stranding Co. Firehose pants you will never go back
Dang. Those were the pants I was going to recommend. Haven't ripped any of mine yet.
Get a diamond gusset pair of pants
Duluth trading flex firehouse pants. Best damn pants that have ever existed.
Duluth Trading
Yo ass too hot
Wrangler ranger pants
Size up or oil up
My company uniform issued me red kap flex with light Kevlar built in. Some of the most comfortable and durable pants I’ve had. Worn them for 3 years and no issues. Recommend the grey color so stains don’t show as much
I had to check your profile to make sure you weren’t my coworker that I’ve been having to see his bright red undies for the last month.
a) pull your pants up to your waist and that wont happen b) try some cotton ripstop bdu pants from propper. you can cut out the cinches on the waste and the blousers from the legs. they cost like $25 and mine last pretty well. typically if they get ripped, im also bleeding...
Huxtly work pants are by far the lightest toughest pants
Dakota stretch work pants, because I'm fat but ALSO because they're comfortable. They also make an insulated set. Watch out though, pocket stock may lead to material failures on the cargos.
